As a package it was and is far ahead of everything. Every level had a neat gameplay gimmick, a neat theme, each one felt like a little game in itself. It's simply the most fun polished campaign in VR even if didn't invent any gameplay mechanics except for some weird puzzle shit

Most of the point of VR is the motion controls. Being able to move the camera with your head instead of a joystick makes the games feel different too. Unlike with a wii you have head tracking in addition to hand tracking and you can attempt to work backwards to body tracking. This is important for dodging or blocking which is typically done poorly in first person games without motion controls. Using a mouse and keyboard you lose a lot of articulation in your inputs.

I doubt it's vr only. In fact I'd expect co op cross platform. Otherwise what's the point, not advancing anything. The future is hybrid, the headset will be hybrid as will the game.
