The game has a good story that is generally well written and performed well. The combat is a lot of fun with active dodging/parrying pretty necessary on expert. There is legit build craft and team building. The main cast features white people, one asian girl, and monke. The music is incredible. It is just clearly made by a team of people who love games.

But I also don't want to get frustrated and filtered when I inevitably have to retry a boss fight for the 20th time because I missed a parry by 1 frame 8 minutes into 12 minute boss fight.

the parry timing is the same between normal and expert, you'll juste die more often if you fail
You're really robbing yourself of a lot. Normal is too easy. You also don't need to parry everything. Dodging is very generous and you can dodge until you learn timings. All of the major bosses have checkpoints right before them so it is just instant retries, though some of them you do have to skip a cutscene (minorly annoying).
There is nothing like fighting an optional boss way too early and getting down the timing to all of their moves and parrying/dodging them all and getting an incredible reward early on.
I'm playing on Story mode and still getting my ass kicked on some bosses. Don't feel bad if you need to lower the difficulty. I'd rather move on and continue with the story over trying the same boss over and over again for 20 times in a row because I cant get the parry timings down

I kinda understand his point where It definitely looks like a UE5 game because basically UE5 is a pretty limited engine and games using it look similar at their foundation. However, E33 has outstanding art direction that helps to elevate it. Basically, I could tell it was UE5 the moment I opened the game without looking it up, but I was consistently impressed with the big moments.
You can get bathing suits for all the characters (including males) but they're more realistic to that period of France so they're not super skimpy but they do show off the ass a bit. Lune wears no shoes in her default costume. You can get cute outfits for the girls but you're not getting super slutty outfits it is all generally period appropriate.
