Wtf happened to her in 4
Wtf happened to her in 4
She went sun tanning
God Trish is so fucking mid its unreal
Zero character and not even interesting enough to goon too
Imagine
too thin for me, I hate thin blonde women, when they're pawgs it's peak though, she should be like the middle but white
Devil May Cry's Trish is a non-character in all the video games she's ever been in. And she's not attractive. Let me sum up her entire character lore: The big bad of the DMC Hell world took a random demon and reshaped their appearance to look like Dante and Vergil's mom to kill him. He hates the sons of his archenemy Sparda and went that far to try to kill Dante.
Trish is nothing but a glorified mule for Dante to carry his dad's sword. That's it. It is a shame her character has never been expanded on. She's a nothing character but at least she isn't detrimental to the series, in the way Nero is just fucking annoying trying to take the spotlight.
Also Lady and Dante one true pairing.
Got kind of a hunter shafer thing going on.
Lol, they shrank her god proportion to an average human
Yeah... Still would.
Fuck off, no she doesn't
They really ruined her in 5.
semi related but does anyone know why in dmc4 my charged shot sometimes poofs without working, are u supposed to pause any existing combo to execute it then continue the combo? As in no other animations ongoing? I hate this constant charge shot mechanic desu, it's clunky as shit, but i hear even in 5 it's mandatory for Nero if u want good scores
me cycling through my preloaded ryan gosling personalities
me cycling through my preloaded ryan gosling personalities
Generic 90s blonde in plain black leather is boring as hell, her Gloria look should have been the default
i played the game even i dont know why she did that
You're probably letting go during uncancelable animations and losing the shot. Just take a minute to when moves let you animation cancel and you'll be fine. It's pretty lenient so it shouldn't take you that long.
i hear even in 5 it's mandatory for Nero if u want good scores
Nah, it's not mandotory. Score is very lenient in 5 imo, so even if you barely charge use charge shot or barely rev your sword you can still get an A and maybe a S rank on DMD.
I'm breaking my controller in 4 trying to do both the exceed instant charge + hold gun in every single encounter, like the score thing will say SS but it doesn't feel like a clean fight, the hold thing is clunky as shit imo, I have gun on right trigger to do it, maybe it just takes time getting used to idk, I do kinda miss the simpler combos of 1-3 tho
I feel you. I also despise holding down charge shot all the time and constantly going for max-acts, so I just do it every once in a while instead. Like I'll only hold charge shot up to level 2 during a combo and only fully charge when necessary and for revving I just go for it just before I want to use Nero's special moves since the difference on regular attacks is negligible otherwise.
Brown Trish is the best one though...
I suck at these games and still have the habit of spamming stinger from 1-2-3 so my avg fight looks like this, feels like D but says S, hope by the end I'll get used to it
Ninja Gaiden has way hotter girls than DMC
I'll probably play it soon, binging these action slashers (played onibushas and now dmc)
but gaiden is harder than all those right, is it as hard as souls or easier?
I wanna fuck DMC4 Trish's brown pussy!
Trish is the best DMC girl and one of the best girls in all of gaming. Her having Dante's DMC1 moveset is the only thing that makes Lucia's disc even remotely playble.
To infiltrate the Order of the Sword, not that anything actually came of that. I don't think Trish or Lady have done anything beyond cameos after their first appearance (DMC 4 SE doesn't really count).
Got the resi evil engine treatment many such cases
victoria
what was the point of her not using panties during 4?
Doesn't compare to Lady sorry
Lady is good but blondes are more fun
She forgot to wear her rubber boots and fried herself just a little
I want Trish and Lady to be playable again, if only we got a proper 5SE. 4SE was a framework of a framework, they could do a ton with them.
Lucia's disk is way better than Dante's btw, her moveset feels quite stronger, for me at least
Dmc 5 graphic style is fucking horrible
Fucking this.
I can't stand the underwater levels, they aren't the worst thing in the world but they're extremely tedious and Trish's DT attacks in the water melt everything so I think it's the best option to go with.
in the way Nero is just fucking annoying trying to take the spotlight.
nero hater detected, opinion rejected
I want to play as Lady with Dual Kalina Ann, especially since Dante doesn't use the wire snatch at all in 5, so imagine.
oops i mean gloria
Trish was so fucking ugly in DMC5.
Nero should have stayed in 4 like lucia stayed in 2
Everyone is. Only kyrie is spared because we don't see her
Itsuno look at me. Potential man of Devil May Cry 4 and Dragon's Slop 2. Nero is a bad character.
Got me absolutely diamonds. Ty anon.
Based and fact-pilled.
Where did you find my gameplay?
total nerofag death
be quiet, contrarian
wrong. vergil looks amazing as ever
DMC3 lady my beloved
Lol
Lmao
Kek even
Getting mogged by PS2 polygons!
Tbh that look was goofy as hell but I still liked him
she was undercover
The goofy polygons of PS2 did way better job than "photorealistic" fidelity of RE engine.
Even the CG renders were god tier. How the fuck they fucked up the white hair in 5 and turned it into grey is beyond me. Worse, I don't see anyone pointing this out.
I'm playing all 6 games in order, I rly loved 3, 4 hasn't won me over so far but it's still good
3 was pure 00s sovl, also at first glance 5s dark look isn't so bad imo idk, every game kinda has its own visual style in dmc
she voted for biden
Even DmC got the white hair right, it's just unacceptable that 5 fucked up such an iconic part of twins.
They ruined everyone in 5.
How does she do it as a mere human?
just the goat, I even liked her in the Netflix
I'm going to fuck you hard
featuring Dante
where's my pizza bitch?
Lady is cute albeit
I don't play these games but I just want to say that their female designs peaked with the middle one
Nico is alright too when I'm feeling dirty
From certain angles and on her promo arts (at least two) she has a massive fucking manjaw.
Also that "dyke" shit where she went full nude in front of a Nico for no reason...
not even a pizza coupon
fuck em'
Also that "dyke" shit where she went full nude in front of a Nico for no reason...
that was pretty cool actually
from sex goddess to crackwhore
Only because we as a player got some lewds. But why the fuck was she was comfortable about fully undressing in front of Nico? And why the fuck was Nico ok about it too? Didn't even flinch.
Fuck DMCV.
4 is her peak
nevan is my wife. I hate that stupid bitch with her dumb ass bats
EZ with Cerberus
try the American version with the fucked up difficulty
Advice for you based on watching this webm
Use Lock on + B (circle on ps) to pull people toward you with snatch, this will help you to stinger less (streak when nero). it also works in the air.
get roulette (air combo, Y,Y, Pause, Y(or triangle)) this lets you go up a bit higher, you can let go of lock on and hit them with the airgrab, then go into lockon+forwardY(triangle) for Helmsplitter
this game is literally the hardest game I've ever played. why did you have to do that Japan?
fucking jerks
The American version is just the JP version with one difficulty bump that is entirely accessible in the Special Edition, when you play it on Hard then you're playing American Normal.
Correct me if I'm wrong, but didn't it just remove the easiest difficulty? DMD is the exact same I thought.
it was only the US version.
it was the special edition
What was Nico supposed to do, go "kyaa!" and turn away?
I'm 90% convinced that the creation process for Trish was
We need a female character that has the visual language of modern (late 90s/early 2000s) fashion, especially American fashion, since let's face it, we've always been westaboos
Oh also give her a bit of a Matrix vibe, because it's the early 2000s and everything has to be at least 10% Matrix
Oh and give her guns and a sword or... something... have her do cool flips and stuff, like in da movies
What's her character? Uh, she's... a clone of Dante's mom, I guess? Something like that?
And her personality is uh... "cool action girl", I guess?
I'm honestly surprised she's stuck around since she no longer has a narrative purpose and Lady is just a better version of her, but I guess that's the power of stalgia
Thanks for the tips altho I'm aware of the grab, just tryinna juggle too many things (normal moves, hitting the free ex bar at end of animations and holding the pistol charge)
Its def the hardest dmc I've tried so far mechanics wise
Its def the hardest dmc I've tried so far mechanics wise
It's also my personal favourite, Some people I know map the pistol to a sholder bumper rather than square or X that might help you a bit
That's basically Kamiya's entire M.O. to the writing in his games.
Now post the Netflix Lady.
She's a stocky girl
This
NG appears way more difficult than the others on the surface, but it's only because the mechanics are more nebulous; Ryu has moves that are far more overpowered and come with lots of inherit defenses, letting you out-bullshit the aggressive enemies.
already done on Xbox controller I got gun on RT so I can hold it all the time, lockon RB, DT LB, exceed default LT, I keep canceling my charged pistol attack by using it while I'm in an animation lmao, it just takes time to get used to I think
Been inside a demon for a month
going through a phase
She owes me sex
this is a dmc thread, please refrain from talking about jeetshit here
Trish's actions are a microcosm of Sparda's own conversion and war against Mundus. She follows a similar trajectory as him, starting with her siding with the demons to her awakening to justice and her helping Dante seal Mundus again. The fact that she could cry at all is a sign of her awakening to humanity and helps Dante and the player recognize that humanity is a concept that demons are capable of achieving. To say she's a non-character just signals you didn't play DMC1. Kamiya makes it pretty blatant.
She's not attractive
That just shows that you're gay.
fucking retards
dark skin white hair sexo
she's a demon
her name is pizza
I don't wanna be "that guy" but it's a fun watch, maybe 6/10
devil may cry 3 fuck the Jews us version double difficulty
desu
that' shit is fucking gay
I cannot comprehend how awful ones taste has to be to think any netflix adaption is good.
It's not necessarily good it's just a fun watch with cool dmc themed action scenes, Lady n Dante aren't so bad in it imo
Virgil is a slow faggot retard
Gyaru phase
kys demon
is that the show where asmonbald is the alex jones of the universe and speaks the unfiltered truth?
Was the demon she was re-shaped from hot?
Dante is better than that faggot virgin retard
an illusory disguise.
She changes back later in the game.
the best woman is the vampire skank
nevan hits fucking hard
That's like one 10 second scene at the start
she wanted to stop being sticccc
I like Gloria's design, but I actually wish DMC4 did like Dante and just had Trish show up randomly seeming to work for the Order so she had more screentime, and it's not as if the reveal would land any less flat.
The character select screen at the start spoils it lmao
she's still human, she cant carry two of them
even the game says so
Absolutely trash tier compared to lady. Trish = trash.
Women don't give a shit about being naked in front of other women you fucking virgin.
this is some comically embarrassing larp schizoid incel holy shit
Ok virgin.
WHAT I THE FUCK IS THIS CREDO BOSS FIGHT
THIS SHIT IS WORSE THAN DMC2
mby I'm missing something
build for Nero
Not credo fucking agnus or whatever in the sword room
He looks pretty ugly here
Nero fucks Dante's mom
PLAP PLAP
Nah, ng girls look like plastic dolls. Mizuki and Momiji are ok tho
You know what I'm gonna say it, video game graphics should not have passed ps2/mid ps3 games, dmc 3 looks better than 5 metal gear 3 looks better than 5 ect. ect.
ng girls look like plastic dolls
that's hot
If you're a sub 90IQ brownoid - maybe.
Obsession with realism doesn't work for games like DMC.
Dantes hair looks too flat
you're safe horny
That's a man
nightmare fuel
Holy based
Every dmc game is realistic
Even 4 and reboot despite whacky color saturation
waste a big titty lady gaga gyaru design for gloria
It hurts....
Nyo
I wonder why shadi just didn't make a lady show.
That's all the netflix show was.
Ironically Adi has very little creative control over anything his name is attached to these days
He's basically a producer credit netflix slaps on to get people to watch their slop
dmc3 lady was the only attractive girl in the whole franchise
It's a matter of art styles. Graphics got better so people wanted to make their games look more realistic, which in turn makes them look worse. Just how everyone jumped on early 3D and they all aged like milked, while the pixel art of that same time still holds up.
Cel shading anime styles did get a lot better, but they're not used as often because it's too efficient and runs well even on phones. Why have your game look nice if it doesn't force the hardware and justify it's price? Better to make it shit so you can brag about the frames instead.
DMC5 would have looked a lot better with more anime-styled faces of 3 and 4, instead of resident evil engine realism-slop.
"mid"
npc zoomer talking about another npc
brownoid gets triggered by a single normal word
Only trained indians and children speak like that thoughbeit.
Indians don't say mid, you're paranoid
4 and 5 really just didn't have any story. The only character development was shallow Nero wankery about Vergil.
This girl is amazing whenever she is playable. Truly the best girl of the franchise.
Too bad we will never have a DMC with only Dante and Trish.
I'd pay for a 5SE that has her playable with Sparda again. I want toreally get into the sword transformation options it has. It felt under utilized in 5, it did higher damage and had a better roundtrip than Rebellion and that was it.
daily reminder she was created to lure Dante in 1 so she must have been a few days old at most, in 5 she's probably like 15 out of 10
Holy contrarianism, Lady and Trish easily looked the best in V
Problem is that's just symbolism. Symbolism on its own can't really make a character interesting. She has no real personality.
Nah, enough with SE. Give me an episode about Dante and Trish wrecking Paradise (its actually hell).
Disguise
I doubt that will ever happen again. Sparda's probably gone for good.
Lady grew a huge jaw but even wo that she's not hotter than in 3
DMC is actually extremely sentimental. Dante forgives Trish's betrayal and reveal to be working for Mundus because she looks like his mom, and he is a nice enough guy he's willing to give people chances. Trish then is moved by his actions and chooses to join him. A more cynical series would have Trish laugh off Dante's kindness, but Dante and DMC are highly sentimental and forgiving. Despite the appearance of an edgy series, it's actually filled with a sentimental hope for redemption and belief in the kindness of most people.
Trish is also 100% Demon, without an ounce of humanity to her but everyone just treats her like a person. Lucia, is similarily actulaly 100% demon as well.
Her entire arc was done in the first game. Lady's arc was done in 3. They have nothing to really *do* anymore, so they just kinda stick around the series because fans want them to and expect them there. I LOVE Lady, and she's the heart and soul of Dante's Awakening (she's literally the cause of it, his awakening to justice, while Vergil awakens his devil trigger). But she's just there for 4-5.
1 has an okay story, and likewise Trish is an okay character and serves her role. They should just make that Ladies Night spin-off they hinted at years ago. Trish-Lady on some mission on some spooky mansion/facility, demons and fights ensue.
Character arc are gay. Just let Dante be Dante, Trish be Trish and Lady be Lady.
Btw, my dream game would have the three of them. They would share the same gameplay basis, but have different specialisation.
Dante = Sword & Guns
Trish = Sword and Magic
Lady = Guns and Guns
Eh. By the nature of these games, Trish and Lady could never truly be more than just extras. Also, I don't entirely agree with Lady being playable in a standard DMC game. They have to make her way overtuned to make her work, meaning she ends up overpowered for a human. It's very clear that they've never figured out a truly good balance for guns, so a character that's literally nothing but guns is inevitably gonna end up broken one way or the other.
Sword and Magic
I think UMvC3 was onto something with giving her traps. 4SE sort of touch on this, but I think a DMC character built around the concept has potential.
Do you guys think the after credits scene with Trish and Lady was teasing something that got cancelled? It feels so weird to make that scene and then nothing.
I guess it could've been a DLC mini campaign
The design of 1-2 is wha tthey should have kept: games are Bond films with a new gal each time. They got caught up in the "lore" with Itsuno games and try to one-up each other in the stakes when it really shouldn't be.
Dante is a gun for hire, he specializes in demon hunting, he goes somewhere, finds and deals with spooky shit, and is partnered with a new chick each story. Old chicks don't appear. As much as I love Lady, she's amazing in her first game, then just... kinda there?
We have established Trish gameplay, and she's a Dante clone. I wish they'd give her Alastor since she's lightning based and it'd be a nice combo for her.
We have only seen Lady in DMC 4:SE, but she seems to be the mirror of Vergil. She has on style, and it's a "trickster" evasion one. I know she's a bonus mode, but I think they made her a bit too powerful, when she should be fragile, with some kind of magic shield and then a very tiny proper health bar (otherwise, it's not clear why some regular human can take shotgun blasts point blank. The games make a point that there's no difference between gameplay and story, Dante can really be shot in the forehead point black with a 45 ACP round and it only mildly stings).
Trish's style is the way it is entirely due to DMC2. For some reason, despite DMC2 being the black sheep of the franchise for so long, they're really obsessed with "staying true" to it. They even gave her Luce and Ombra purely because of that game. Why does she have them? We don't know. Why do they exist? We don't know. They're never gonna explain it because they can't.
She's literally the heart and soul of the story and is what causes Dante to learn and grow. Initially Dante is motivated out of a grudge against Vergil, because he wants to fight him, and his shop was destroyed. He sees Lady struggle despite being a regular human, and she's clearly outclassed by everything by a long-shot. He learns it's because Arkham is her dad, and she feels it's her duty to stop him and put an end to this.
Dante "awakens" to the realization that this is all because of the Sparda bloodline, that it's not just some petty spat with his brother, but its his duty to ensure this ends and no one else gets hurt.
Weren't they Sparda's guns? Or did I make that up.
Wow this made me nostalgic. Never did get to 3 on switch, I think I'll go play it now, thanks anon.
They were. But that in itself has become a plothole that can't be filled. Why do they have the exact same engravings as Ebony and Ivory? If they were made by .45 Art Works, does that mean that Sparda knew Nell? If they're addressed to Tony Redgrave, does that mean Sparda went by that name at one point as well?
It's too much of a headache to deal with, so the writers seem to have opted to completely ignore them.
True
Yes, Sparda is an alternate character in DMC1, and he uses them. He's a powered up version of Dante, looks like Dante in a purple coat, and uses those guns.
These are bonus side characters and it's just because they didn't have the time to make new 3D models for it. These side-characters exist in a kind of semi-canonity. We can't be sure they're 100% accurate.
Trish has Sparda and Luce Umbre, and that makes sense. Dante entrusts them to her to keep them safe and they won't be the devil arms he sells off after missions.
Personally, I'd have her setup like this:
Lucre and Umbre
shotgun
grenade rifle
Alastor
Sparda
Nevan
DT can shoot lightning like 1
All very true, but I think people overrate how much story dmc 1-2-3 have, it's not about the story
Again, it doesn't actually make sense why Luce and Ombra exist in the way that they do. The implication is that at some point, Sparda went by the name Tony Redgrave, met Nell and had her make these guns for him. The more the series progresses and the more we learn of Dante's past, the less these guns make sense.
Luce and Ombra are just there for gameplay purpose.
What's the most interesting weapon/gun/style setup for DMC3? I know the speedrunner and min/max approach, but that's not that interesting, and the combo autism isn't interesting either. I beat the game endlessly on PS2, and it was mostly just Trickster for me because I was a basic bitch.
Things I find interesting but have never used:
Cerberus
gunslinger
swordmaster
Agni and Rudra
Kalina Ann
Spiral
Nevan
Artemis
I beat it with only rebellion cause I love Dante sword moves, as for ranged it's spirals + pistols and I spammed change weapon while shooting to do the animation cancel on spiral and have it shoot faster, lots of dps and satisfying to use, if I replay the game I'd just play Vergil desu, idk about the other weps but I hear they're all good n viable
I find certain bosses without swordmaster unbeatable. Like cerberus
I love Trickster too much. Trick is just far too useful. I really like being able to instantly close the distance on any enemy with zero delay. The less I have to actually run during a fight, the better.
I just Drive Cerberus.
it doesn't need to be canon, vergil still has beowulf for no reason
It's more someone or something fucked up Trish's model/scans for 5. The bela's face from RE8 mode for Trish in 5 works wonders.
Trickster
Agni & Rudra / Beowulf
Ebony & Ivory / Spiral
There. Now you can do anything. Practice your Spiral / E&I cancelling to really pump out damage at range.
implying her succulent pits are not prime goon fuel
Trish has always been worst girl.
Trickster actually lets you do the most damage given how it lets you cancel out of moves.
Beowulf and agni/rudra are dps machines. That and gun switch canceling to rapid fire spiral
Speed ran through dh/sos/dmd in two days
Luce and Ombra exist, they were 45 cal 1911s but the in-game representation uses the same textures from Ebony and Ivory, and we should ignore the inscriptions.
Sparda's story:
2000 years ago
See Mundus is a jerk and fight him
team up with the priestess to seal Temenigru
afterwards ruled Fortuna as a medieval lord possibly up to the early modern period
left Fortuna at some point, vanishing from history and people think he's a myth
at some point in the 20th century have two custom 45 calibre handguns produced for him
Met Dante and Vergil's mom
she gives birth to the twins 19 years before DMC3
Sparda vanishes (everyone treats him like he's dead)
Eva is killed 8 years after the sons are born (likely because he wasn't around to protect her)
Found dante and his doppelganger
So why did Dante have them? Is the implication that while his house was burning down, he went into his father's study to grab his handguns before he left? And if he had his dad's guns, why not use them? He apparently struggled with normal weapons since they broke whenever he got too rough with them, but if these weapons were made for Sparda they were likely far more resilient. The fact that Trish can use them without issue means that Dante likely could have used them as well.
As I said, the bonus characters exist in a kind of semi-caoninity. I think they are inspired by canon, but aren't canon. At no point in canon has Dante been shown to have Luce and Ombre in the present time.
I think those two guns existed 100%, they were used by Sparda, but it's entirely possible they were lost or destroyed, and Dante had Ebony and Ivory created to replicate them.
Reminder, Yamato first appeared as a weapon for the "Legendary Dark Knight" costume in DMC1. But it acts just like Alastor, is placed on his back, etc. So it's inspired by real canon, but due to budget and time restraints isn't 100% accurate to the real thing. Later games flesh it out.
My guess is that Sparda grew tired of being a simple feudal lord, and wished to see action, so he renounced his wealth and status to roam the land seeking adventure. He is an early adopter of firearms and continually buys the latest models, until he has the 1911s produced and is satisfied with them, using them as his signature weapons in the 20th century. He is a wandering hero, not unlike Dante during this time period. The actual Sparda is ignored, shunned, or seen as a strange outsider, while the Sparda of myth is revered.
During his travels he meets Eva and she births the two children.
I think Sparda died of old age, rather than something grand. He gave up most of his demonic power, and is no longer functionally immortal just very long lived. He was nearing the end of his life, and gave himself a nice, humble tomb.
i like the way you think
I'd say the issue with Luce and Ombra is that the games continue to show Trish having them in her possession, even in cutscenes. Oddly, I don't recall her ever using them in DMC the Animated Series. Then again, it's been a long time since I saw that show.
goon
zoom zoom: the post
I think they must still exist in canon and be in Trish's possession in, the 08 anime is canon and she uses them there, she also has them in DMC4 during the main games cutscens youtu.be
It would be funny to imagine Sparda as a dude who wanders around and nobody believes he's Sparda, instead thinking he's a Quixotic looney so they underestimate him until they find out, no, he's actually able to back up the bravado.
The real issue is the ".45 Art Works" and "For Tony Redgrave" engravings. If it weren't for those two things, there wouldn't even be a problem. It creates a lot of questions.
I feel like continuity does fit DMC. After DMC3, it should have been one game = one story. Like an episode of a serie.
even if bungled, 2 had the right idea. Dante goes on a new mission, meets a new girl sidekick, they kick ass, solve the mystery, and go home.
Yeah I'm sure they could get removed if they show up again and no one would care.
I like it, but I don't think 4 is really that heavy on requiring knowledge of older games and could be considered an episodic tale. You can walk into it and have questions, but it's not like you need to know about the events of Mallet Island or even Temen-ni Gru since Nero being Vergil's son isn't overtly integral to the plot. 5 requires you to be invested in everything to care about what's going on since at its heart it's Vergil's game. We follow him for a good chunk of it and get a deeper understanding into his motivation for causing the Qliphoth to grow, and that all requires you to care at minimum about 3,1, and 4 to be invested in the main plot.
I think the problem was compounded by two core factors: DMC2 being so poorly received, and DMC3 being a prequel. The existence of a prequel at all creates a certain set of expectations. Continuity suddenly becomes important when it didn't really matter that much before.
Literslly me
The issues are:
1. Vergil got too popular so he had to come back. Literally two games about that.
2. Dante unleashed his full potential, where he's said to perhaps even supass Sparda himself. The fight with Mundus is the only time he's gone all out, and narratively you can't have him do it again since he can trivialize all fights.
Combine these, and you have two games that are kinda dancing around Dante and trying to introduce Nero, who is only 1/4 Sparda and fairly powerful but Dante trounces him.
Note: It may have narratively been a mistake to make Dante the son of Sparda.
So Abigail's stronger than Argosax, right?
Woah, is that fucking blackface, dude?
We can have Dante and Vergil mess around in hell, meet some hot demon chick, kick ass, and come home so Dante can reclaim his office.
There's awkwardness due to how characters, weapons, and items are intorduced in the series.
Sparda weilds the Yamato and Sparda and gave one sword to each son. However, we see Nelo Angelo fight and he is very much like a medieval European style knight, not the samurai wannabe Vergil was. This means his yamato turns into the Nelo Angelo blade in DMC3, and it's kinda awkward. Nelo Angelo then is revealed as some kind of armor thing Mundus made, and has no bearing on Vergil.
I think that diminishes how cool Nelo Angelo was. His normal form should have been a knight.
That's a tan you faggot
How canon is corrupted Vergil from DMC 3 SE?
There were originally two weapons associated with Sparda, the Force Edge (Sparda) and Yamato. Dante has Force Edge in DMC1, but it became the Devil Sword Sparda. So for DMC2, they created Rebellion, a weapon that has a lot of design similarities with Force Edge while also being an heirloom from Sparda, giving it a sentimental value that would have been otherwise completely absent in Alastor. The devs likely did not want Dante using Sparda as it was probably deemed too overpowered, while also being a somewhat gross-looking blade that doesn't have widespread appeal. So now, all of a sudden, there were three blades associated with Sparda.
When it came time to make DMC3, they had to give a weapon to Vergil. They couldn't give him Rebellion because that was Dante's. They couldn't give him Force Edge because that would have created a rather unfair discrepancy in the weight of the swords given to the brothers. Rebellion is an important heirloom, but Force Edge is THE Devil Sword Sparda. It's not fair to give Vergil the more important weapon. But they didn't have to think about it too much since there was, in fact, a third sword, Yamato.
I believe that the mere existence of Yamato at all more or less sealed its fate as Vergil's weapon.
They then ended up making Yamato and Rebellion being created exactly like Sparda in 5 if I'm remembering correctly. Originally they were just heirlooms but now they're actually parts of his power. Also I don't think in 3 they initially intended Rebellion to be capable of bringing things together to contrast Yamato's division which has been established in a small way since 1.
There is not a single redeeming quality to the show. Your shit taste combined with your ebonics tells me you are either underage or a nigger.
It's because they suddenly wanted to give Yamato some sort of weight and purpose in DMC4. Yamato was a necessary factor to unlocking the Hellgates, meaning it had to have a component to it that was vital to that purpose. Originally, it was a weapon that could merely cut through space, and that ability was expanded into being able to cut through dimensions. Because Yamato was given a special power, Rebellion needed a special power as well in order to make it equal to the original.
My own headcanon is that Sparda didn't create Rebellion and Yamato until after sealing the Temen-ni-Gru and losing the Force Edge. He needed a weapon that could seal openings to the demon realm, so he created the Yamato. That said, the exact purpose of the Rebellion seems like a mystery to me.
Alaster bros... we've been forgotten.
introduces the stinger move
introduces air raid
introduces double jump
players use it for 90% of the game
lightning element
rebellion inherits all your powers for some reason
Nevan inherits air raid and lightning powers
Trish, a lightning elemental doesn't even use it
it collects dust in Dante's house
I think if we just play a big game of assumptions Rebellion's purpose is to close open hellgates or portals. If Yamato can open dimensions as its main purpose than it's easy to assume that Rebellion can be used to close them. Probably was used by Sparda to shut down a lot of potential Demon resurgences.

That would track to me. No reason for him to have multiple weapons when the Sparda was exactly that in one.
Its core weakness is that it's a weapon that holds no real sentimental value to Dante. In the context of the series as a whole, it's just a random Devil Arm he found on Mallet Island, no more notable than the likes of Cerberus. He didn't even use it against Mundus, since he switched to Sparda for that fight. Lorewise, due to its general lack of notability, it's an inferior Devil Arm to Rebellion, Yamato, Sparda and now Devil Sword Dante.
Zoomers need a slow death
The thing is, Yamato can both open AND close portals. So you wouldn't need the Rebellion for that purpose. Yamato is completely self-sufficient for all portal-related uses.
The solution is obvious to me: It should be Trish's signature weapon. Maybe Nero gets Ifrit?

Likely with Trish given that her entire existence is little more than references to previous games, unlikely with Nero. With DMC5, I think they've more or less cemented that Nero is the "all-human" one. There is nothing in his arsenal that wasn't created by human techniques and methods. If he WERE to get Ifrit, it'd have to be after it gets destroyed and Nico repurposes it into a new Devil Breaker.
