it'd be really funny if a sequel came out and the ending choice didnt matter just because of her inexperience and youth never made it last in the end
I like it. My only real complaints are that the tutorials feel cumbersome at the beginning when they constantly pause the gameplay, some of the parry timings can be a bit awkward, floating rock aesthetics are a little overdone, it quickly becomes very easy once you get around level 20 or so, and the high amount of ethnic diversity in lumien kinda takes away from the eatly 1900s france aesthetic. Though that last point could be due to laziness since only one non white npc has a speaking role and he gets vaporized pretty early on. I dunno, it takes away from the setting for me when I see modern media corrupters try to normalize fake ideas of the past, even if it's fantasy and fiction. It would be like seeing tons of white samurai since there were europeans in japan back in the 1600s, and then mocking anyone who pointed that out by saying it has oni demons and monsters. Fake, transparent bullshit that should be called out every time.
It does a lot well though. The graphics are quite nice, the story has a lot going for it, the npcs are fun, and the main characters are exactly what I like. They all have realistic flaws, but at the same time are reasonable and mature. No one becomes a retard to make someone else look smart. I like pretty much everyone, but I wish there was a younger man maybe a little older than Maelle that joined you early on to balance out the genders a bit.
The music is fantastic and compliments the battles well, and the battles are good for a turn based system though I'm still undecided on whether I prefer the parry/dodge system or not. It certainly makes the fights more engaging, but as a consequence there's a lot of either instant kill bullshit or you steamroll it once you get the timing.
