You dont end up homeless by accident, its generally the cause of burning every bridge and being lazy or unattentive with what you have access to, they get into a fight with the person that feeds them and gives them somewhere to stay, they do drugs when they are told not to and get kicked out etc. Even lazy people generally have someone or something the fall back on, these people are SO lazy and unable to form relationship that would benefit them. Its hard to fathom these things but homelessness is not just a reluctance to be self sufficient it is the abject opposition to responsability

i’ve never heard of a job needing a bank account. as long as the company hasnt gone completely cashless that shouldnt be an issue at all. and if its something under the table you dont even need a ssn, which is how immigrants get job in america. you would definitely need to keep basic hygiene, a mailing address and be a functional addict though.

Yes anon a homeless person is going to be at less of an “advantage” than a guy with a fucking home but the fact is that there are helpful resources in place to ensure you aren’t completely unable to redeem yourself after fucking up (or getting fucked up by your parents, which is a fault of them and not necessarily the fault of “the system”). Yes there are hoops but there are going to be hoops when you’re at the bottom rung of society, there is no way to reasonably change that.

Can it be better? Yes in the same way that every initiative can be better. By all means preach that way too much capital has been vacuumed up by people at the top who don’t need it, and that many systems are suboptimal and deserve review, but it pisses me off when people say the system is “rigged against” these people on the grounds that they haven’t attained basic conveniences to navigate the world around them. It’s sad and I do not envy their position, but I also don’t believe that there’s an untapped infinite abundance the world has to offer.
