Nobara KDE is probably the best choice for people who switch over from Windows.
It's obviously not gonna be the same and will have its hiccups but you can get around that.
That being said, you are gonna miss the "it just works" part of Windows sometimes, especially when it comes to sound drivers and such.

Linux distros are the same yet different. They all have different quirks, but under the hood it's all Linux. As someone that has distrohopped a few times, they're not that different.
Use one of these: Debian, Ubuntu, Linux Mint, Arch, Fedora, openSUSE.
There distros are not memes and are popular so there's always help available. Ubuntu and Mint are derived from Debian but they're amazing beginner distros. Gentoo isn't really a meme either but it's only for an advanced user that wants specific shit, you do not want Gentoo unless you really need the bragging rights.

Microsoft's win32 compatibility layer is basically abandonware now for games other than the biggest AAAs. Kind of like when DOS was abandoned by Microsoft, its time to look into other compatibility solutions.
Those games both work fine with Wine which is actively supported. On modern OSes Valve includes a compatibility tools feature in Steam which makes it really easy to use.

Everyone has their own reasons for distrohopping. Some think you have to change distros for different looks but you can just install other desktop environments pretty easily. Others are actually just addicted to using Linux and love trying new versions of it. I left Ubuntu because I found its updates to be slow, I think this was because of how it uses Snaps, I use Linux Mint now and have been here for about three years now. I have tried other distros on a spare laptop. I loved Arch and Artix (Arch without systemd) and those are the only others I would seriously use besides Mint. Fedora and openSUSE were nice too, but not enough to make me want to leave Mint, and their packages also felt slow compared to Mint's apt and Arch's pacman.
