for those who are all dead because verso is sad
For those who are all dead because verso is sad
reminder that maelle died at the end of act 2 and is replaced by alicia who is a cunt and if you sided with her you're a fucking retard
maelle died at the end of act 2 and is replaced by alicia
you should probably play the game because maelle is alicia
you retard
Honestly this games story is so retarded it's unreal what's wrong with the French
this games story is so retarded
you're brown, aren't you
play the prologue of act 2 verso sister
Siding with Verso is the more retarded of two bad choices.
If Renoir had a better handle on his family this wouldn't be an issue and he wouldn't need to even consider destroying the last part of his son remaining.
I THINK THE PAINTERS SUCK
Not in my game, you must have played it wrong.
she fucked something up while entering the painting and got reborn as one of Aline's creations instead of staying herself according to Clea
Fuck off, wrigger.
you're brown
nice projection shitskin
They would all die in Maelle's ending anyways.
Ayo hol up ain it kinda like completely effin pointless if yall stupid ass die
retard
Maelle only had Maelle's memories. The girl who shows up in Act 3 is Alicia with the memories of Maelle and the knowledge that she is a God among mortals in a world created by her dead brother.
ESL
of course
MEN agree with Renoir and Verso
WOMEN agree that Maelle deserves fantasy
WHICH ONE ARE YOU ANON
They would all die in Maelle's ending anyways
decades later painting time
You don't understand consciousness.
Memories are all a person has. if you radically introduce a different set of memories, you create an entirely different person in seconds.
the old person ceases to exist.
I don't want this life
Help me
It hurts.
Renoir's solution is not to "kill" the Paintress and force his wife out, it's to destroy the entire painting
Kind of fucked up. Get your wife out, lock the painting up and tell her you destroyed it. Let the painting people live.
you really are retarded
You don't understand consciousness.
Memories are all a person has
Lmao how retarded can you be if I cloned myself and gave that clone my memories I would have split my consciousness into being in 2 different places at once and he wouldn't be me. Memories of something and actually living through it are very different things to say nothing of all the other factors that shape a person.
yeah, and once it's obvious the party can defeat anyone, him included, why not just ask them to kick his wife and daughter out for him and in exchange he restores the lumierians? it's not like maelle would want to stay in the canvas if her presence was an existential threat to everyone in there.
play the game sister
Depends on how long it takes Gustav to get his strength back and go on another grommage spree, really.
Verso committed genocide and he was right to do so.
it's not like maelle would want to stay in the canvas if her presence was an existential threat to everyone in there.
She definitely would.
Fuck I mean Renoir lmao
well they'd kick her out then. verso does it solo, with lune sciel and monoco helping out she's fucked.
so, yes or no
niheipilled?
Brainlets won't understand this story btw lol
Verso
Reminder that with enough time Gustave will be able to invent a device to BTFO the painters, trust the plan!
he's so fucking evil lol. world-obliterating liar, multiple times. just comically evil and the game loves him for it.
Gustav true end is fighting both Maelle and Verso, kicking the former out of the painting and stopping the latter from destroying it
so you're telling me alicia can't move while she's in the canvas?
I can’t believe Esquie was the paintress all along
The way Lune stares him down after Sciel gommages. Lmao, if looks could fucking kill.
gustav climbing out of the painting, killing every pa*nter like in god of war 3
Anyone else bothered by the fact Act 3 was just one level
why was renoir so hellbent on destroying lumiere and the people in it, anyway? his whole goal was to get aline out of the canvas, but he was never going to be able to destroy the fake family she made, so she'd never truly have reason to leave even if everyone got gommaged. so what was even the point of gommaging them?
freeing Verso's soul
and, more to the point, why did aline paint lumiere? what did that have to do with verso's death? the fake family i get, but it wasn't like she was living in lumiere -- i don't get the thought process of, "my son has died, i must now go create a civilization of fantasy frenchmen"
that's how teleportation works, you vaporize yourself in one place and replicate yourself in another with the same everything. The you in the new location is not any less "you" than the original. The equation doesn't change even if the original isn't vaporized
because painting a world with nothing but your family and little goofballs baby Verso made is odd
renoir never wanted to do this -- he even tells maelle this it kills him to have to do destroy what remains of verso's soul. painted verso is the only one that wants to free the soul.
The Crows, Flying Manor, Tower, and Renoir's Drafts are the other story areas of Act 3. They're just optional.
The reason Verso is correct is because everyone is already dead in Maelle's ending. They all have already been gommaged or murdered. Those brought back aren't themselves. The whole point of the game is that what's gone is gone. Everyone in the Canvas except for Verso and Renoir is gone by the end of Act 2. It's just like how Maelle talks about Aline painting an unflattering version of Renoir. Maelle paints what she assumes to be idyllic versions of the characters, but they're even less real than they were originally. They're copies of dead people with no agency outside of what Maelle envisions for them to benefit herself.
did verso go too far here?
seems like an absurdly fucked up reason to give birth to a whole civilization; essentially just set-dressing.
why did aline want to be in the canvas if all she could do was just sit in the monolith and cry? it's not like maelle where she has friends and adventures.
where did all these low iq people come from?
around launch everyone was capable of understanding the game, now it's just le verso bad evil, did you even pay attention to the story at all?
the only reason they're gone is because Verso already lied to them and bamboozled them however.
Verso has ability that does more damage the more health he lacks
Shit ton of other perks that boosts damage if health is low
He rapes bosses with that.
Parry autist speedruns will be fun.
we understand that the game is trying to make a point about escapism and the abandonment of blissful delusions, it just doesn't make the point very well because it also tries to make the death of lumiere a tragedy; it tries to have it both ways.
retard
if they were copies from what maelle envisioned, they wouldn't be shown to know a bunch of things that maelle doesn't know
also maelle clearly says "I can see them" and grabs their chroma in lumiere and then uses that to bring them back
don't forget the reacher
Isn't The Crows the Reacher zone? Or am I mixing that up?
crows is just the one island where you summon the enemy by shooting all the crows
it makes the point very well you retard.
If you view Lumiere as real people but prioritise the Dessendres
Verso
If you don't view them as real and couldn't care less
Verso
If you view them as real but don't care about the Dessendres
Maelle
if you view them as real but prioritise them over the Dessendres
Maelle
If you simply want to free Verso's soul no matter what
Verso
there is a wide array of opinions you could have and both endings satisfy all of them
You can't prove they know anything that Maelle doesn't know. You can't even prove that Verso after being sustained by Maelle isn't bent to Maelle's perception of what Verso is.
That's valid, but that would have happened with or without Verso. Either an expedition eventually succeeds, or Aline loses enough power to protect anyone and the final gommage happens.
I just want Clea to visit Francois again :(
but the maelle ending is presented as unambiguously worse, they do everything they can with the presentation to express a clear preference for verso's ending, even though the actual situation is at least ambiguous if you value the lumierians, which the game seems set up for you to do.
Because by destroying her fake family he will force her back into reality. If you are implying she will just repaint them again, that just lends credence to why Verso had to destroy it for good.
That's valid, but that would have happened with or without Verso. Either an expedition eventually succeeds, or Aline loses enough power to protect anyone and the final gommage happens.
Verso could've convinced them to kick out Renoir instead. They were doing whatever he told them, he could've just told them that was a pre-requisite for stopping the paintress. I also wonder why painted Renoir was constantly making his veiled allusions to being the right instead of shouting that the paintress was the one trying to save the world not destroy it.
Come. Let's go home.
Yes, you need to go home.
will ben starr get best VA this time?
because the ending is unambiguously worse for Maelle and Painted Verso, that part isn't what's up for debate. The Maelle ending fucks the Dessendres for the benefit of Lumiere.
This is a temporary issue. All the people can be reborn and their kids will be their own people. If the world lives on it means the legacy of all the humans that came and left lives on as well, their history, their inventions, their struggle. Lives aren't the only things worth preserving.
You can't prove they know anything that Maelle doesn't know.
They have continuity with relationship dialogs that happened with Verso previously, and share very personal things in their level 6/7 dialogues I doubt Maelle knows.
Also if they were really just copies, then they would be the exact same as any copy made in a new canvas, and I'm pretty sure Renoir would just tell her to go take a break and make her own canvas. Not to mention I don't think Maelle is skilled enough to make people, we have only been shown that Aline can do this. Maelle is just fixing/changing Aline's stuff.
The reason Verso is correct is because everyone is already dead in Maelle's ending
the only people that cant be properly bought back are the ones killed by the nevrons as their chroma is old and not pure
Those brought back aren't themselves.
I sided with Verso. It wasn't even a question for me after his mother immediately found the painting and forced her way in again.
i understand why he was trying to destroy the canvas, but the game confirms that he wasn't capable of destroying the painted family, and even if he gommages everyone in lumiere the canvas is still gonna exist. how does gommaging one year's worth of people every year serve his goals of destroying the canvas/booting out aline if she and her fake family can stay there after everyone else is gommaged away?
How come Gustav made a device that could harness the power of their entire reality, sufficient to beat up the creator gods?
Literally. Gustav made the Lumina Converter, and it was its power that allowed anyone to get anywhere. Verso was weak as hell and got bitched up by all the big monsters before he started using it, but at the end he was strong enough to fight painter/gods.
Gustav's invention was more powerful than the power of those that created the world.
It's impossible to say what is correct because we know very little about the "real world" and what is going on with the writers and painters and shit. We don't know how "real" the people in the painting are.
Yeah that was just silly, but also proved Verso and Renoir were right. Now that Aline and Alicia have gotten a taste of being high, they will never stop chasing the dragon. It's sad that it has to come to this, but the only way to end the cycle of suffering is to put little Verso's soul to rest once and for all.
Is there really no way to fix these awful grainy shadows in windowed mode?
I really have downscale this in fullscreen mode game from 4x my monitor resolution just because you fucking hacks can't make a game properly?
He was hoping it would force his wife out of the painting at least
because both paintards and wriggers KNEEL to engineerGODS
but the game confirms that he wasn't capable of destroying the painted family,
First this isn't actually confirmed.
Second the entire thing with Aline is that she wants a make-believe world for her family. She doesn't just want Verso, she wants everyone else there to play up the illusion.
We know enough to know that Alicia's life is going to be sad, alone and short. Clea doesn't give a shit. Renoir and Aline have very clearly shown they are fucking terrible parents. She is disfigured and disabled and has nothing. She's definitely going to kill herself.
this pic doesn't even do justice to how bad this shit looks in motion.
there are holes in everything but it also jitters every frame.
It was Verso's painting, he made Lumiere, the gestrals, esquie, and the rest. Aline was using what was there have a family again with the chunk of Verso that was left behind there.
but there's just a strong emotional tone to the way they're presented, one has black & white and horror movie ambience, the other has color and hopeful music. one of them is called "a life to love" the other is called "a life to paint." it's clear the game thinks of it as a straightfoward message about abandoning a fantasyworld, except the game still wants you to care and be sad about the death of that fantasy world, which causes a problem because that makes the endings way less unambiguously valenced than the game presents them. nobody picks the maelle ending and feels like it was a defensible choice, even though by the logic of the game's world it should be. but if you pick that ending it feels like the game is shitting on your for being an escapist retard.
that's why Verso let Gustave die. He knew that he could find a way to kill the painters IRL and keep the canvas alive and safe which meant Verso would not get to die.
so are the people of Lumiere even based on real people? Is there a real Gustave, Lune and Sciel running around?
You fags are missing the real TRUE end solution.
Gustave is in the world outside of the painting, as well.
the journal was his avatar
He's a writer and rewrites the story
This doesn't mean they're fundamentally brought back as the same individuals. It's also Maelle who would be biased against recognizing them as facsimiles she created.
But the point is we don't know if what they say in their 6/7 relationship dialogues is really them or what Maelle thinks they would be based on what she does know (she could have increased awareness too as a Paintress, but I don't think the game really suggests one way or the other on that). I do think Maelle's ending suggests that she's an unreliable narrator in that she is capable of forcing Verso to play the piano -- so I think there's reason not to immediately trust Lune and Sciel in Act 3. You can only get to relationship level 3 in Act 2, right, and then 4 through 7 in Act 3? 1 through 3 might be consistent with 4 through 7 but I don't necessarily trust that what they reveal in 4 through 7 isn't some kind of construct composed by Maelle.
Maybe their parents or grandparents were but not them no.
She was living in Lumiere with her fake family >100 canvas years ago.
Aline made Lumiere.
My headcanon is that the canvas that we know from acts 1 through 2 ends when Renoir deletes everything, he burns and move on, when Maelle is able to recreate herself she actually had a anime protagonist power up so absurd that she was able to copy her mother's Canvas 1:1 because of her untapped potential, that's why Act 3 is so bad in the ending, why Real Renoir just waits her to come and why she wants a capeshit ending, where she either wins or is defeated by her painted brother.
It's basically like what this fag said, the difference is that Maelle is super hot and is the MC of the story so she just recreates everything a 1:1
ITS ALL PART OF HER KEIKAKU.
(Keikaku means plans)
whats this? i never watched this cutscene
The painters are the equivalent of Zeus getting mad that Prometheus gave humans the gift of fire. The lumina convertor is something that would put them on a similar level to the painters and make them irrelevant the same way Greek gods went on to be irrelevant to everyday people in Greek Mythology.
Verso didn't know shit. He was a retard front to back.
Doubtful. Especially since it would've been their great great grandparents or whatever who Aline actually painted as part of her fantasy.
Try xess as anti-aliasing, that was the closest I got to reasonable quality
First this isn't actually confirmed.
Doesn't Clea literally say he can't do it?
Second the entire thing with Aline is that she wants a make-believe world for her family. She doesn't just want Verso, she wants everyone else there to play up the illusion.
Yeah, but she's not gonna leave the canvas if that world is gone, is she? Seems insane to piecemeal destroy an entire civilization just to make your wife slightly less happy in her fantasy world.
nta but I for one did not enjoy seeing that nightmare dogshit family happy. They deserve some real suffering for thinking it's okay to toy with people's lives.
except the game still wants you to care and be sad about the death of that fantasy world
Does it though? The entire last act focuses almost entirely on Verso and Maelle to the point Monoco doesn't get any new voiced lines and Sciel and Lune are just background characters. If you want to assign importance to Lumiere then that's fine, but the narrative objectively does not and framing Maelle's ending as literal horror where everyone acts like puppets and fascimiles of themselves can't make it any clearer.
Alicia was actually a filthy writer all along, that's what's going on here.
Honestly the story of this game would've actually been a lot better if instead they went darkest-before-the-dawn and actually ended it with a happy ending.
Did the devs expect so many people to get upset with his death and reject Verso?
Clea used to come and sing to Francois and he loved it. You come back and give him that rock and take another one, they mention how much he misses her visiting.
his mind is genuinely worth more than the entirety of that dysfunctional frog family. Imagine engineerchadding your way into realspace
will GenericAnimeVoice#36589 get best VA this time?
I'd hope not but with how fucked the industry is these days you never know.
they present it as worse
That's the cool thing, facts don't care about your feelings
Reviving lumiere is the objectively good thing to do, it's sad that verso is trapped (maelle should let him kill himself or something) but everyone else is content
Renoir is only destroy everything piecemeal because Aline was preventing it. You can see that as soon as she is out of the picture, he starts destroying literally everything until Maelle sperges out and stops him. She even theorizes if he was at full power she could not stand up to him, which probably is part of his decision to "trust" her later.
but the game confirms that he wasn't capable of destroying the painted family
wasn't renoir killing verso in this exact scene
You can't ignore that the entire game up til that point is focused on the well-being and future of Lumiere. Gustave, Sciel, Lune, etc. You even see Lune and Sciel's hopeful final campfire scenes right before the ending. That it abruptly expects you to stop giving a shit about Lumiere at the very end and then punishes you with an unambiguously bad ending if you do pissed me off. Plus, if they don't think it's a tragedy that all this stuff is being destroyed, which is its destruction in verso's ending played for tragedy? With Lune looking morosely at him and everyone huddling as they dissolve, like all the other gommage scenes that are played as tragedies.
She is secretly a writer, the bad moment that Renoir mentioned that Aline saved his ass was when he discovered that Aline cheated her with a filthy wr*tter, thats why the writters tried to kill Alicia, a kid that is half writer and half painter is too powerful for their world.
That's the 3rd ending. "A Life to Dream" was the title of the letter Painted Alicia wrote to Verso.
You can get to 5 in Act 2, 6/7 are Act 3.
Also sure you could headcanon that Maelle made up an entirely fake backstory those conversations somehow, but then there's the things that are referential to previous conversations. Sciel refers to her level 7 scene being "dark and personal" which is a thing between her and verso going back to the first relationship dialog that Maelle would not have knowledge of. We know it's a real part of her and couldn't be made up.
There's no actual reason to think they aren't brought back as themselves when the game goes out of its way to show Maelle saying "I see them" and grabbing their chroma and then saying that's how she brought them back. Every point you have to say they're different people is just "Maelle is bad and made them different" headcanon.
xess
proprietary AI garbage that TANKS the framerate. unacceptable.
also looks just as bad if not worse. blurs the image without removing the grain.
I'm just gonna use FXAA or SSAA injection. Fucking crazy that these workarounds are better than shit the devs offer.
Crazy that the game looks so fucking bad when rendered natively. This shit should not be allowed to be sold in this state.
Kino
Make it real, we need Gustave back
this is a happy ending according to the french
Have you already tried toggling off all the post-processing trash? I don't remember it looking that bad on my 9070
The music in Sirene's level is fucking maddening.
You can't ignore that the entire game up til that point
I don't. But it's also that the entirety of Act 3 revolves around Maelle and Verso and the rest of the party are just along for the ride.
Plus, if they don't think it's a tragedy that all this stuff is being destroyed
It's bittersweet. Lune is assblasted, but Monoco and Esquie are happy for their childhood friend and Sciel has come to terms with it, even gently reassuring Verso by grasping his hand.
Yes, when Renoir says he'll keep the lights on for her, he means he will burn the house down around her to free his bloodline from the taint. This time the fire will take more than just her eye and voice.
I'm basing it off the fact that Maelle can demonstrably compel people to do what she wants them to based off Verso in her ending. It means that I can't trust anything she does. I guess that's my basis for this.
even gently reassuring Verso by grasping his hand.
She refuses to touch him, it took her a few moments to realize what he'd done while Lune realized immediately.
This game actually does sequelbaiting correctly. I highly doubt the writers (of the game) are unaware of the existential nightmare the Painters and Writers create and could easily tie that into their next game.
yeah It looks bad no matter what you do. they just expect you to render at a resolution higher than your monitor so the glicthy rendering is less noticeable.
Did you retards somehow not notice her complete personality shift?
nobody picks the maelle ending and feels like it was a defensible choice
Speak for yourself.
it makes the point very well you retard
literally impossible retard because it's doing so in a video game which are inherently escapist which makes it hypocritical, and because escapism bad is the ultimate midwit opinion
Maelle can demonstrably compel people to do what she wants them to
Ok so Maelle bad headcanon, like I said
Verso's ending is happy.
women bad
Pretty based bait-and-switch considering the girl power overtones.
I understand what they did. You had to feel it, you had to doubt Verso could be right, you had sympathize with Maelle. Only if you understood Verso and let go of your personal feelings to know what had to be done, then you'd choose the right ending. It's honestly pretty good stuff.
there is clearly a middle ground between "NO ESCAPISM FOREVER BAD NO CREATIVITY ALLOWED" and "LOSE YOURSELF IN WONDERLAND BRO IT WILL BE FINE"
No I don't think so. She already realized what he'd done otherwise she wouldn't have stepped through and willingly grommage herself.
Morons. That's like saying that every time you gain new memories or perspectives, you cease to be the person you were before that point. Is the person you were a year ago dead because you have memories they didn't? No that's ridiculous. Maelle was always Alicia, she still has all the memories and attachments she gained as Maelle but also regained her memories from before she began filling that role. "Maelle" is a phase in Alicia's life, literally part of her identity. As usual Anon Babble is full of absolute clowns lol
How is that headcanon when she forces Verso to do what she wants in her ending?
I thought it was really out of character for Sciel to have come to terms with it. Her entire fucking world is getting destroyed because she was betrayed. She's supposedly able to "empathize" because she'd destroy everything for Pierre, but how cucked is that? She should be pissed, like Lune! What if you just take Lune's perspective at the end -- if you make choices because you care about her fate, the game slaps you with a nightmare ending. If you care more about Lune not getting erased and not having everything she and the other expeditioners (Gustave's death) did for naught, the game just has nothing for you. It sucks.
the rest of the party are just along for the ride.
you convince lune that she is more than just a tool of her parents
you give sciel hope of reuniting with her husband
you bring noco back for monoco
you find out franfran misses clea and thats the reason hes being mean and dismissive
It really started and ended just like attack on titan kek
The lost and yugioh references were already funny enough but Verso really is a retard
So verso's story is that he is crated by Alina with her memories of her dead son, 28 or whatever age he is when he died in the fire. The soul of his son, 9 years old, created this painting and this part of his soul continues to paint and paint and paint as that's all it can do.
And what the fuck is the conversion of time from real world to painting? It absolutely cannot be 1:1. Alicia is 16. Year 49 (counting down, so year 51 actually). But she has great knowledge of her father and mother and is obviously birthed by the mother. So mother can't have been in for more than a few months based off of ages. But anyway expedition 0 which is both renoir and verso go try and sto the paintress for some reason idk. But anyway they go try to stop her and figure out they're family clones / get white hair on their gommage dates / start protecting Aline from next sets of expeditions so Aline isn't removed from painting and they all die. So renoir came in at year 100, so there was infinite time before that from year 9 verso to current year verso. But verso and family would have had to be created after verso's death. Idk. Anyway, eventually Verso betrays painting renoir and Aline and wants to destroy painting but he never works with real renoir idk I guess real renoir never talked to him even though clea did
Then he genocides the painting + kills Gustave / plays the piano
What a fucking loser
then you'd choose the right ending.
Yes. I chose the correct ending. Correct for myself and the reason I began the story to begin with. Verso played a wonderful melody for the end credits.
There would be if Aline and Alicia weren't retards. Sadly, that is not the case.
Because you have no clue if that's what's actually happening in that scene.
I still loved the game but Act 3 bored me. Once the mystery was up and it was just Alicia with her zombie army rushing Lumiere my eyes glazed over with disinterest.
PLAY US A SONG MR PIANO MAN
I'm pretty sure the game implies that in the real world they live in a city that is at least similar to Lumiere. In Verso's ending at the cemetery, isn't there also a big Eiffel Tower looking thing in the background, much like the one Lumiere has?
So I assume Aline just wanted to a recreate an almost 1:1 life that she had before with her real family, except one where the fire didn't happen. Which...kind of makes the fact that she still painted Alicia with a fucked up burned face even more unhinged, since painted Alicia wouldn't even have a memory of the event that caused her face to be burned so horrifically.
If you chose the same thing Aline did that started the whole thing and thought it was good then I have nothing to say to you.
Alicia's life is beyond fucked up and he family is no good besides Renoir. What's Aline's excuse?
when she forces Verso to do what she wants in her ending?
painters can't "force" other people to do what they want.
Sister pussy really messes a man up (Maelle, Mikasa)
What's Aline's excuse?
BPD
Yeah, but to create that sense of personal attachment to the fantasy, they had to make the fantasy real. As in, give no in-universe justification for it not being worth caring about. Which means it comes as a slap in the face when they tell us (or me anyway) to stop caring about it, because they haven't given any kind of reason. The ending only works if you blindly accept that Lumiere doesn't matter because that's how the narrative is framed; even though nobody ever explains WHY it shouldn't matter anymore after it's been making you care about it for the past 30 hours.
When you leave his cave he starts crying out if loneliness.
Clea is a bitch. The least she could have done was put him out of his misery.
painters deserve death quite frankly. they run the equivalent of mass uninformed experiments on generations of unwitting civilizations for the sake of their own vanity. there's no evidence of any oversight, code of ethics, or restraint - they just do whatever the fuck they want to play with people's lives. verso's ending is disgusting because there's absolutely no reflection on this other than maelle being sad she can't see her friends again - no thought to the mass genocide her family were instrumental in setting up and committing, they're simply glad to have washed their hands of it.
Her son was killed by her daughter that she views as a mirror of her, and she is in crippling ptsd and depression
Just pretend the painting is heroin and the world inside is her mind disassocisting . Hope that helps
Alicia's life seems fine. Her room is filled with books and manuscripts so it's clear that her family supports her interests. She should get over herself, wear an eyepatch, and learn sign language. You and I both know there would be thousands of simps out there lining up to date her despite her appearance some probably because of it.
bro he's literally clenching his hands like he's struggling
If you chose the annihilation of Expedition 33 and all life in the canvas - invalidating the very reason for the journey and struggles our characters endured to placate family drama, I similarly have nothing further to say to you.
Clea wouldn't even think of the Anglo Turtle as a person or probably doesn't even remember him
fucking paintards
Exactly. You're perfectly right. The truth is it doesn't matter, it's a painting, and that's what hard to accept. Aline and Alicia couldn't accept it.
The you in the new location is not any less "you" than the original
the thing that come out is not you lol.
you're dead. you got vaporized.
Writers. Writers are her problem. She created a world without writers and decided to live in it..
Simon is proof they can. Painted Clea is proof they can. Painted Renoir is proof they can.
Honestly. Alicia should've brought back Julie and made her Lucien's wife and invited them to Verso's performance.
Meh we're all probably a singular atom of a larger being with infinite multiples of this happening over and over if we want to be real. Do you really think you're the highest thing in existence lmfao? We're probably akin to water bears. So you think water bears know there is existence far beyond their own?
hur we're sentient
Only on the level we understand absolutely
Sophie is based on Clea for some reason and Gustave is a repeat of the Simon character that Aline painted for the fake Clea.
Anon Babble gets filtered by existentialism
LOL
Or he's just reflecting on how it feels to be old (he's looking at his hand, which is very visibly aged) and how his body doesn't move as easily.
worst girl is based on Clea
hmmm
I mean the burn victim was one of the most popular waifus in Katawa Shoujo wasn't she?
Sciel's entire thing from the moment you meet her is that she's already resigned to her fate and ready to die. She will keep chasing hope as long as it's there, but when it's her time to go she's already made her peace. This is reinforced over and over through her camp dialogue and the story and I don't know why you fags keep misunderstanding her character this hard. It's not fucking complicated.
Monoco and Esquie are also tired and happy for their friend
Sciel wants her husband back, but is also fine with his choice
Lune is opposes it entirely
No.
I am beginning to think there is some dude on the level of that Barry poster from FF threads in these topics. Some dude keeps getting wildly over-emotional at anyone that disagrees with him.
Only because she got raped.
Really shows the perils of empathy. They put a sad pretty man in front of you who wants to die and loves his mom and most of the normie internet is happy to let him exterminate thousands of innocent men and women.
You don't have eyes or something?
What happened with Painted Renoir?
Simon and painted Clea were painted over by Clea, who is said to be the only painter strong enough to paint over painted creations. Maelle is a shit weak painter.
She was the most popular love interest, yes. Something like 40% of players picked her in the popularity poll.
Also forgot to say Alicia still has a chance to paint her OWN paintings later if she wanted and bring Verso, Sciel, Lune, and Gustav back if she wanted to.
It honestly is. As someone who's younger sibling died one of the worst parts was watching my mom letting her self fall into just utter despair for about 4 years afterwards and nearly letting that grief destroy her and our family. this journal from Renoir really hit hard for me.
Yes, if Renoir chose to destroy the canvas. If he didn’t they would be fine. Honestly I’d rather Renoir and hus entire retarded family died and everyone in rhe painting survive
the worst thing Verso did was hide Soarrie from Esquie
normgroids literally cannot into abstract thinking. If they think of the Verso ending as unambiguously good, they're retards.
I also chose Verso, so I'm not even a Maellefag
Sophie is best girl tho
Yeah after my dad died both myself and my mom fell into Maelle endings. I wish my life had a Verso ending. Verso still sucks though. Renoir doesn't.
Sciel's clearly lying about something. She was off the entire game and her story about getting to the gestral village made absolutely no sense.
I just mean in the sense that Painted Renoir is a version of Renoir that acts in line with Aline's desires instead of what Renoir actually wants.
Also, Maelle gets painted over by Aline when she enters. It seems to be dependent on amount of chroma rather than Painting potential.
No Renoir would just start up the grommages again. The only question is how long it takes him to recover his strength. But considering Aline forces her way back into the painting almost immediately, it probably won't be that long.
Clea just doesn't give a fuck
they wouldn't be the same at all
They would just be copies from Maelle's memories in that case though. It would be the same as Aline and painted Verso.
She cannot. Fortunately, she can still make those little moans. Oh no, please don’t let her stay in the canvas for decades noooooo
dumps your ass because kids are icky
Clea just doesn't give a fuck
Clea seems to still be in her anger stage with the hunting of the writers and what not.
Based. I chose Maelle, and I say the same for those who treat it as a good ending. Both are shit outcomes. It's just a matter of do you give a fuck about Maelle/The canvas or Verso/The Dessendres. Everyone desperately trying to make their cruel choice the lesser evil is fucking retarded.
Real Renoir (curator) helped Maelle nuke him
boy Verso "Why are they destroying my canvas?"
That's really sad somehow. That tiny part of his soul exists just to continue painting the adventures of his childhood and is watching it get destroyed by his family.
Why not? She already repainted them once.
Simon is proof they can.
clea lied to simon, she didn't "force" him to do what she wanted.
Painted Clea is proof they can
painted clea got painted over with the purpose of creating nevrons by the real clea
Painted Renoir is proof they can
the paintres created painted renoir with the sole purpose of protecting her
It's only hard to accept from the player's point of view because there's no argument for why the painting people don't matter. The story just kind of expects you to go along with it. That feels like a cheap way to make the player feel aggrieved -- the characters feel aggrieved because they experience tragedy, the player feels aggrieved because they're mislead.
In Clea's defense, she's probably intentionally keeping herself detached from anything in that Canvas because she knows her father is eventually going to destroy it all anyways to save her mother. She already has enough unresolved emotions regarding Verso's death that she's avoiding dealing with to focus on her revenge instead, she's not about to hop back into the Canvas to play with her childhood imaginary friend, not when she's actively suppressing her feelings because she's fighting a war by herself.
It comes down to how innately tribalistic you are, for some people family is the unshakeable bedrock of their lives and they'll hapily end nations for it and find it easy to empathise with the plight of the painters.
For others it's an F-word and you see a victim flanked on all sides by controlling psychopaths.
Both views are valid and (at least I believe) accounted for.
their chroma is gone
They tell you that she was only able to do that because they were freshly dead right there, she can't do that for Gustave let alone in a different painting. It wouldn't even be as good as Noco being brought back.
tfw your fun magical world gets turned into a BPD French existentialist nightmare because your family are gay retarded artists
How long was Clea in the painting for when she went inside to help Renoir? Can't help but think she could have helped him in a more direct way rather than mindfucking her painted version to become a nevron factory and doping and mindfucking a poor guy in love with her painted version into killing Alina
You are far too emotional about this game calm down bro
unshakeable bedrock of their lives and they'll hapily end nations for it and find it easy to empathise with the plight of the painters.
Man, you would kill your father to save your country? For Trump? For Trudeau? For Macron? Are you for real, damn, we really have niggers in this board.
Painted Renoir was created that way, he wasn't being controlled by Aline after.
The painting over thing is Clea is the only one strong enough to "paint over someone else's creation". Alicia is just a person not a creation so that doesn't count I guess. All of the lumerians are Aline's creations though so Maelle couldn't paint over them (and I don't think Maelle is skilled enough to create people on her own).
Is it coincidence that she looks like an older Maelle?
No because she has the exact same face as Maelle's older sister.
She is unstable emotionally, probably lost her shit when she saw that painted Clea was happy with the chaddest guy in the world and decided to just fuck everything up and just leave the canvas without anything solved.
Both views are valid and (at least I believe) accounted for.
see, this is my criticism of the game, is I don't think it really accounts for the second side. because that sides ending is presented like a horror movie, and titled in a way (replacing love with paint) that unambiguously signals that it's worse. I suppose both scenarios are bad, but the way it's presented made it feel (at least to me) that the game was taking a strong position on which ending was better instead of being neutral about them both having horrors in them.
People are disagreeing with him and it is making the baby upset. Please understand.
she can't do that for Gustave
Sciel and Lune talk about being able to feel Gustave's chroma after he dies, so she probably can if she finds it. Only people killed by nevrons can't be brought back because Clea intentionally made nevrons fuck up the chroma to weaken Aline.
doesn't do shit for mom and dad
doesn't try to comfort her little sister
doesn't attempt to get Aline out on her own accord despite being by far the best paintress
does arbitrary slaughter Lumierians with her Nevron monstrosities
does mindbreak her own self and her own self's boyfriend for shits and giggles
during Verso's funeral she just fucks off without a word.
complete bitch. Hate her.
Hey it is FFTA all over again!
What's more useful, defense or vitality? Let's assume you go all in luck and agility and get those to 99, what's more valuable for survival between defense and vitality?
She literally repaints Gustav in her ending.
defense, vitality is the true meme stat.
Probably defense since you can stack HP value with pictos instead.
I'd argue defense because you can get plenty of HP from pictos.
Either way I went Might because I'm not a bitch.
The truth is it doesn't matter, it's a painting
it only doesnt matter if you're an egomanical god that doesn't care about its creations
It's layers of defence, health is useless without defence and defence is useless without health, so put 50 points on each and you will have more tanky.
anyone have quotes that prove or disprove that child Verso's soul wants to keep painting? you can talk to him several times but i can't remember shit
What's a good order for the side content endgame? Going to random places is just getting my teeth caved in.
What other argument can be made that it wasn't made in the game? It's a painting, it's not real. Can real people be brought back from the dead with magic? Can they be erased by the whims of someone else? Can they be made to do what they don't want like Verso was? All indications.
"it's real TO ME"
That's said several times but how can you argue with it? This is a serious question for doctors who treat mental patients.
because gustav wasn't killed by a nevron which means his chroma is still in the painting. With the painting being destroyed all chroma dies with it
Renoir having a spat with his wife and not just immediately burning down the painting to force her out
Aline fully retreating into her fantasies and abandoning her family
Alicia is a useless retard then also getting addicted to the painting and making things worse
Clea was the only sane person in her family and I'm tired of pretending otherwise.
Talk to everyone at camp and do their sidequests (Reacher, Sirene, Revive Noco).
Get everyones relationship dialogues maxed.
Go do Lumiere.
Then do whatever, eternal tower and flying manor are good for powerspiking (also Sprong).
She would probably die with the painting if he did that.
>does arbitrary slaughter Lumierians with her Nevron monstrosities
An efficient autonomous way of denying resources for her mother's self-destructive spiral while she's dealing with whatever "the writers" are in her mother's place.
She did nothing wrong.
Clea repainted fake Clea to make Nevrons so that Renoir would eventually win. Presumably she did that right after Renoir was locked below the Monolith at the time of the Cataclysm. Then soon after during Expedition 0 she repainted Simon, again to give Renoir an edge.
It seems like she was just around for that limited time period surrounding the Cataclysm setting things in place so that Renoir would eventually leave.
Prior to that, when Verso was alive she spent some time in the Canvas though. Presumably she wasn't such of a massive cunt when Verso was alive, because she spent time happily with Francois.
Sprong
I forgot about this cunt. Thanks lad.
The game straight up says they are real people with real feeling and souls.
It's Clea's fault that Alicia got addicted to the painting. She should have warned her about Aline's chroma or jumped in to help her instead of just going "sucks to suck bye".
Some people have really shitty parents, not me but my wife works in child protection and I hear about cases where summary executions would be justified at least a few times a month, if you're clued into this stuff you can recognize the same patterns of abuse here.
Act 3 talk to Esquie at the camp, it's very cute
She also made the big nevrons that eat landscape. In time they would erase the canvas. Clea was gonna win sooner or later.
Maellefags are just lolberts who can't think of a reason why you might deny an underage child the use of meth to cope with their sadness
It's a painting, it's not real
its not real to the painters with the powers of god that can create life. Its very real to the people living inside of the canvas
>does mindbreak her own self and her own self's boyfriend for shits and giggles
Yeah? so what? C*nvas people aren't real people anyways.
I'm with ya there. Seen people complain that act 3 was just one level (aside from all the side stuff) but I'm fucking glad I could be done with it in a little over an hour
In Verso ending, it wasn't Renoir that destroyed the canvas. It was Verso who stopped painting.
She's wife material
doesn't do shit for mom and dad
didn't play far enough to discover she made the nevrons to help her dad
doesn't try to comfort her little sister
didnt play far enough to make it to the tower to find what she wrote for maelle
lol, lmao
Painting Verso took mini-verso off camera and executed him, so I guess that yes, he did stop painting.
It's Clea's fault
It's all of their faults. Every one in that family is at fault. Only that family and their simulacrums are at fault., everyone else is guiltless.
A happy ending would've been them all getting their just desserts. Alicia, Clea, Aline and Renoir all should've ate shit and died. As should Versio, fake Verso and fake Renoir. Family of fucking cancer.
Would she? Every time a painter "dies" they seem to just get forced out. I suspect Renoir still has an attachment to Verso which is why he doesn't just burn it.
is this curator nigga stuck under the monolith or what? he is at my camp the whole time, and if he isn't trapped at that point why the fuck do I need to go and get axon materials for him? he painted them surely he can just get whatever he needs from them
I actually laughed out loud kek
I finished the main story a couple days ago and think I understand the plot, but have a few remaining questions that I may have missed.
First, checking I have my facts right:
As a child, Verso painted the Continent, Gestrals, Grandis, and Nevrons as a fantasy to play in, like his Hundred Acre Wood. Esquie and Monoco are his Pooh and Tigger, and they have adventures hunting Nevrons like Hephalumps and Woozles.
Aline entered the Canvas after his death and made the humans and Lumiere alongside the Continent, along with her Painted family as her immortal favorites.
Renoir entered the Canvas to pull her out, their struggle caused the Fracture to happen and the Monolith to spawn. Aline’s stuck atop it, Renoir’s at the bottom in a stalemate.
Renoir started Gommaging Aline’s humans to strip her of Chroma as a long-term strategy, and made the Axons as Chroma reserves she couldn’t reclaim.
Aline’s Monolith number is to summon a new expedition in the hopes they’ll kill the Axons and give her back her edge, or die conventionally (either to Painted Renoir or Nevrons) on the continent, where she can access their Chroma. If they Gommage back in Lumiere she can’t reclaim it.
He went with him. Not unsimiliar to fake Alicia and Maelle.
If burning the painting was an option, why didn't Clea do it?
Aline didn't seem to be handling getting forced out very well when Renoir showed the real world.
Clea was probably a very nice person before she had to deal with her fucked up family. Esquie and Francois seem to only have nice things to say about her.
Muh questions:
- Were the Painted Dessandres always on the Continent, or did they once live in Lumiere, then relocated with Expedition 0? I know Verso lies a lot, but his recollection of the opera house seemed like he was genuinely from Lumiere before, and we see a ghost of him playing there during the return to Lumiere. Was he never an expeditioner and looted the uniform from one?
- Why does it seem like ours is the first Expedition to be thwarted by Painted Renoir? All the other seem to be ended by Nevrons and not attacked on the beach. Why was 33 targeted by him?
- Who made the White Nevrons and why? Their “Mistress” seems like it would have to be Aline as the only active female Painter, but I don’t see how making peaceful, intelligent Nevrons serves her purposes.
- Where is Painted Clea? Why did Aline only recreate three of her four family members in the Canvas?
- What even is the point of Clea as a character? Her only purpose seems to be to send Alicia in to help Renoir, and get a cute shout-out as Francois’ favorite. Seems like she could have been Verso’s only sister and the plot would be untouched.
- Why are Renoir (Curator) and Painted Renoir equally able to use the Manor as their base of operations? Aren’t they enemies since Painted Renoir is on Aline’s side? Are there two Manors in the Canvas?
Haven’t done all the optional postgame stuff in case this is explained there.
When they die inside the painting, which is different from the painting being destroyed while they're inside. Anon, you have to trust the writers enough to believe these obvious things the writer also thought and the story is written in a way that it explains itself, the same way the writer trusts to reader to understand without the writer having to methodically and exhaustively explain everything. This means that if just destroying the painting would force Aline out, Renoir would have just done that instead of fighting her and then just destroying it later.
The number on the monolith was just a warning to the humans.
What was the deal with Verso's Axon? The Visages. It's supposed to be a painting of Verso by Renoir, but how is that supposed to represent Verso? Just 'he has emotions so here's some emotion faces'?
I guess the Axon of his wife is just as shallow. 'She's fascinating because she's pretty'.
Dunno how the yeti-face Axon is really supposed to be Alicia either for that matter. They try to explicitly tell you 'it's because he wants her to fly', but that metaphor doesn't really seem to fit. Also what's with that one Nevron that tries to help? It's supposed to invoke Gustave, but this is Renoir's creation.
Despite everything, she still respects her father unlike Maelle.
Clea absolutely fucking sucked and made me hate the rest of the family by extension. They all doomed an entire world because they can’t just fucking grow up and work together to heal.
Renoir set the fire to the mansion
So if I'm understanding this right, Simon is Painted Clea's husband, but Painted Clea was replaced/reprogrammed by irl Clea and turned Simon into her terminator to kick Aline out of the painting.
After Renoir and the paintress started fighting and causing the fracture clara went into the painting and created the nevrons to strip the paintres of the chroma
Kek same he didn't miss a single note
iirc there was a log that mentioned Renoir but not by name.
I think this guy was mindbroken by Renoir, and then real clea just gave him superpowers
Who made the White Nevrons and why?
Clea, I think, they seem like defects
Clea created the Nevrons to trap chroma so Aline doesn't have access to it. Aline writes the number to tell the humans the ones (of age below) she can protect from Renoir. I believe Aline still has access to gommaged chroma, but Clea tipped the scales with the nevrons, so Aline can't keep up the cycle of rebirth forever like she would do if no nevrons.
Why is renoir not stuck at the bottom of the monolith if he's supposed to be there? He saved Maelle, was at camp, stopped paint renoir etc.
Considering most Anons can't trust the writers to think that Maelle's ending is "bad", I don't think we can either.
All correct.
Aline’s Monolith number is to summon a new expedition in the hopes they’ll kill the Axons and give her back her edge, or die conventionally
The number is just her warning everyone who's about to die. At some point she gave up on the expeditions getting anything done and sent painted Renoir to go kill them and free their chroma for her.
Were the Painted Dessandres always on the Continent, or did they once live in Lumiere, then relocated with Expedition 0?
I don't think they say for certain but I'd assume they were living in the manor in Old Lumiere.
Why does it seem like ours is the first Expedition to be thwarted by Painted Renoir?
There's another expedition journal that mentions coming across people with white hair, so he was probably out there haunting other expeditions and just doing a shit job, I don't know.
Who made the White Nevrons and why?
Clea
Where is Painted Clea?
At the Flying Manor, you didn't find it?
What even is the point of Clea as a character?
She does quite a bit in the background.
Why are Renoir (Curator) and Painted Renoir equally able to use the Manor as their base of operations?
I don't think the Old Lumiere mansion is the same one the Curator was in.
Literally every event running up to the end flies in the face of all of that. You’re seriously telling me if our world was subject to disaster and you volunteered to save it, you would just let yourself and everyone you’ve ever known and loved and anyone that could ever be die, simply because someone with more power than you decided you don’t matter? There is no logical argument that none of the canvas-people mattered, other than that their world was made by someone else.
painted clea is in the flying manor, still painting nevrons. She is a boss fight
Aline painted Old Lumiere with her family and the OG Lumierians >100 canvas years ago. Lumiere got thrown into the ocean during the fracture.
33 is probably the first that Renoir destroyed immediately because of Maelle being involved
Clea made white nevrons
Painted Clea is in the Flying Manor zone
If you want more info on Clea do Flying Manor/Endless Tower/Renoir's Drafts
2 Manors
I'd only do Maelle's sidequest, the rest will make you too strong for Lumiere.
I figured it was just because Verso is an inveterate liar and didn't think more about it
The Curator is just some kind of avatar Renoir has just like the Paintress is for Aline. It's something he controls but it's not literally him.
Verso wears a mask to please his parents. He wants play the piano but his parents want him to be a painter.
How do you work together? Renoir's diary says Aline stopped being responsive, kept diving back into the painting, and started being hostile when Renoir came to get her. Then Alicia decided to follow in her mom's footsteps because she would rather play dolls than live in the real world. Renoir's first and only mistake was marrying into such a family.
Lune/Monoco's are super short, and does Sciel even have one?
Supposedly. What I don't understand is how destroying the Axon helped? Renoir made them to siphon Chroma from Aline, so why did Clea make Simon destroy it? why not leave it and let it do it's job so Aline's kicked out faster?
She sent Verso to watch over Maelle like Batman. She's a tsundere sister who doesn't show her emotions but she truly cares for Maelle.
Because the Axon was supposed to be her and she didn't like it.
Painted Verso is Aline's idealized son
kicks Aline and Alicia out of the painting because it's not healthy and he loves them
IE all the dudes in this story are based and all the women suck.
Well, Painted Renoir is kind of a bitch, but w/e.
I agree with this, Sciel was very clearly hesitant when she shows up in the Gestral village, I was quite sure that she was a traitor when she first showed up. It might be a remnant of an earlier plot, perhaps.
simon was in love with painted clea
clea disguises herself as painted clea and gives him powers and tells him to kill the axon in lumiere
painted clea tells him the truth
goes to renoir to presumably kill him
gets mindbroken by him
goes mad
Is this game worth checking out if you never cared about its genre/setting? Seems like it could be a good starting point
Verso is the farthest thing from based. He is cringe.
Visage
Verso is constantly putting on an act and lying.
Sirene
Constantly living in fantasy land, self explanatory.
The Reacher
Alicia is locked inside a dark room doing jack shit, even though the sky is right outside.
Verso is a lying snake, even the real one which is definitely where the painted one got that behavior.
I guess the Axon of his wife is just as shallow. 'She's fascinating because she's pretty'.
The dancing is a metaphor for her skill at painting.
Dunno how the yeti-face Axon is really supposed to be Alicia either for that matter. They try to explicitly tell you 'it's because he wants her to fly', but that metaphor doesn't really seem to fit.
It's a girl with a covered white face hiding in her room, which is exactly Maelle. And the tower is diligently being built upwards while fate conspires to tear it down.
IE all the dudes in this story are based and all the women suck.
true except for Clea who is best girl
noooo you don't get ti the hecking Sims ppl r reel!!!!
That someone can get brought back from the dead or erased or puppeteered against their will doesn't make unworthy of moral consideration anon.
Sciel's clearly lying about something. She was off the entire game
Really? I thought they cleared this up well with her explanation of the death of her husband and her following suicide attempt that lead to her miscarriage, she was hiding her shame.
and her story about getting to the gestral village made absolutely no sense
This is true.
based bestgirl Clea enthusiast
So if they get their health back that fast then what’s the problem? It sounds like they just need to rest a day or two in between venturing into the painting and they’d be fine. It seems like the entire argument with Aline and Alicia and by extension Renoir as he tries to help them being so headstrong is so pointless. If they just had occasional family vacations every once in awhile for a few decades in the canvas they could all heal together while also experiencing their son’s creations and finding joy. I dunno it seems like there was definitely a third way they could have escaped this and been much stronger to find and defeat the writers as a stronger family.
the Sims don't learn how to program their own game and fight back against their creator
Clea's unnamed Axon that carries a city on its back
Clea also happens to be the only sane one in the family.
he's literally the "Zanzibart the Forgiven" meme comic
it's so over the top it's hilarious
I think you might have glossed over the part where being in the canvas is extremely addicting and both Renoir and Aline have needed to be saved in the past. "just leave and take a break" kind of flies in the face of the entire lore of painting
unnamed Axon
It's called The Hauler. I don't remember where that's shown though.
other than that their world was made by someone else.
That is not the complete view here. We know the kid Verso painted it so he could have fun, we know the painters get addicted to the painting, that people in Lumiere's lives are under their complete control, they can create, they can copy people, etc. It's not by coincidence that Maelle is doing the same thing as her mother, the game wants you to understand they're running away from reality, this is put in no uncertain terms, hell it goes further and tells you the painters die if they get stuck too long int the painting. It's not a "well I'll just go live in this new universe," it's something harmful.
he could've been the hero... he could've saved us all!
So if they get their health back that fast then what’s the problem?
The problem is that Aline refuses to come out. I'm not sure if you've even played the game, but you're literally told she would stay in there permanently and even when they hid the painting from her, she ends up finding it and going back in. This is not the first and last time Renoir went in to try and save her.
Clea isn't sane. She's a sociopath. She is a heinously callous cunt who only threw fuel on the fire.
the hecking Sims ppl r reel!!!!
Yes
painters that are so powerful that they create sentient life on a canvas say that their creations are not real and are just playthings
retards view it as them being literal sims characters instead of seeing that its just ripped from greek mythology
You guys should be kinder to Clea. She's the protagonist of the DLC that will set up the sequel. I don't know if she's intended to be the lead of the next game but it is possible. Stay tuned.
If you found out this world is a simulacrum would you instantly view all people as not real? I don’t seriously believe you think that your position is true at all.
wants everyone to snap back to reality so they can deal with the writers who literally just killed Verso and also nearly Alicia
It's almost like the family is actually in grave danger and there's no time to be a drug addict
why did aline want to be in the canvas if all she could do was just sit in the monolith and cry?
she was trapped by Renoir and he by her. It was a deadlock until BASEDCLEA introduced her Necrons to help Renoir.
the writers who literally just killed Verso
So the good guys?
Gustave, Renoir and Verso are the same person
The game is an allegory to drug use. The painting is a drug and the longer you stay inside the harder it gets to leave because the real world sucks lol
who are the writers, do we see any of them in the game?
Simon.png
Ripped?
Then Verso is Prometheus, who was the Titan who made mankind, and the Greek Pantheon shitheads who kept fucking with humans by giving them all evils, sorrows, plagues and misfortunes, giving them greed and deception and lying, in this instance are the rest of the Dessendre family?
I guess that works.
why didnt the heckin dessandre family think the writers were based for killing their son
gee
No. Alicia had a typewriter though. So probably the fire was caused by something to do with that.
All we know is that they tricked Alicia somehow and Verso died because of it and Alicia got burned. That's all. They're just some people in Paris who are bad hombres or something.
Aline made the people I believe
Painted Alicia is also the only one who writes a letter on paper instead of using an expedition log.
Thanks lads. I didn't know there was so much more exposition in the postgame - I went straight for Lumiere as soon as Act 3 started so I wouldn't be overlevelled for the final boss and it would feel climactic. That turned out to be a good idea, since after a few tries I had a lucky hitless run against him.
Kind of related; I think I'd recommend playing on normal to people starting for the first time. Having done my run on Expert, I found it annoying that I can't engage with a lot of the mechanics. When half the attacks oneshot you anyway there's little reason to do anything but build for speed/damage and git gud on parrying. I think I can count on one hand the number of heals I used, and all the Pictos that did things like give AP on damage taken or amplify heals were just wastes.
But if you're playing on normal you can still do a dodge or parry playstyle, but actually take advantage of Health/Defense builds to use those scalings.
post your best reaction images plz
By actually sitting down and talking about it as a family, processing their grief together, and staying together instead of constantly fighting. I’m not saying that Aline didn’t have a problem, but it seems contrived that she would be so insistent on literally killing herself rather than resting in between jaunts. These characters need to realize that it’s not JUST a canvas, it’s an entire world of people. The entire family seems wildly selfish and incapable of seeing beyond their own immediate desires.
They are not in Paris they're in Lumiere. Verso died day 33. Maybe it's a painting within a painting?
lads, is it ok to commit genocide you're depressed?
yes. In this world the Sims people are real. Painters are godlike entities that create worlds, they are not just simulacrums and all of the pain and sorrow they caused was 100% real. Their entire family are mass murderers and they deserved their fire and worse for their actions.
Renoir seemed to have no problem leaving, nor did Clea, and Alicia simply did not want to be mutilated anymore. I don’t think it’s ever actually said that Painting is addictive, though I could have missed that.
I believe you
dude what if we just went to therapy and the game didnt actually happen
do you really critique movies and video games like this? like do you watch a war flick and get upset that diplomacy didn't win out?
it's addictive the same way that Anon Babble is addicted to their computer
They are the same person.
Okay, so medicate her and put the dumb bitch in a sanitarium, don’t destroy the canvas for some stupid broad.
I don’t think it’s ever actually said that Painting is addictive, though I could have missed that.
you definitely missed it, it's one of Aline's core teachings about paintings that its extremely addictive and incurs a great cost on the user
Renoir seemed to have no problem leaving
he was trapped for 67 years and only left when he was killed so I dont quite understand what you mean by this
If Renoir had a better handle on his family
He spent 65 fucking years in the canvas trying to convince his wife to stop being a fucking retard.
What the fuck is he suppose to do? Let he wife rotten away in the canvas playing house?
the best non-boss battle themes are the tutorial battle and the merchant battle theme, both of which you rarely hear
Renoir already lost when he had the advantage against Maelle. I don't see how a 2nd round would work for him now that his daughter is in full control of all the chroma.
it's all a metaphor for depression
No indie game escapes this huh
Aline made Lumiere.
Do we know that?
When it’s such a contrived conflict, yeah. I’m not a fan of gore porn brought about by a bunch of people refusing to see simple reason
(me)
I guess we know that because it said "destroying her oldest creations" which pretty heavily implies that.
Nice talking with myself.
How does Verso and Versofags cope knowing the actual remnants of original Verso think the painting people are real and deserving of life?
He literally explicitely states they are the same as real people.
That would mean that the anon who said "YWNBAW" to me was lying.
I'm not so sure about that. I got the impression Lumiere is the fiction that Aline painted, but the real world is actually just real world Paris but magic.
Obviously 'Lumiere' is just a double-meaning on 'The City of Lights' and just means Paris in any event, but I remember the real world setting being referred to as Lumiere.
Renoir was trapped because he battled his wife and got stuck under the Monolith, he didn’t want to be there. He showed absolutely no desire to stay in the canvas and was quite fine with destroying everything. So was Clea, and she was in there as well. When did Aline say that painting is addictive? I don’t remember that.
She's not replaced, she just regained her Alicia memories.
That's why Clea will be in the DLC. Hopefully it's more Gustave kino.
DLC starts
Gustave reliving the perfect day again and again
like a broken movie
but it starts to feel wrong
things feel fake, not natural
but the game confirms that he wasn't capable of destroying the painted family
I think he would be able to destroy them, seeing how Maelle could gommage painted Renoir away, but he can't get to them as long as the paintress still has chroma - which he is currently starving her off.
Do you think the real Verso would still feel that way if he knew what it had done to his family? Legitmate question, because I feel like just with any dead person we don't really get an accurate depiction of who he was really, just the idolized version of his grieving family.
entire theme of the game is about destructive and dangerous methods to deal with grief
maellefags cant see anything wrong with letting a 16 year old go ahead with her addiction cause 'she wants to'
lolberts
Real Verso sacrified his life to save Alicia after her retarded sister fell into the Writers trap.
He is the kind of brother that would sacrifice the world to save his family, and he did as painted Verso.
Let he wife rotten away in the canvas playing house?
Yeah. Would probably be better for her in all honesty. Time dilation means she could probably live several centuries happily before dying in the real world, and she’d be much happier in the simulacrum which looked way better than their reality anyway.
It's the people who think there is an easy choice who are low IQ. That's you. You're the idiot. Can't even tie your own shoes.
Even the creator says theyre real.
It's a painting, it's not real.
it's also a video game anon, none of it is real, and in this not real world are real godlike beings who can create worlds full of sentient creatures.
son died
daughter crippled
Can't do shit about those two, but he as sure can try not to let his wife grief to death.
hi Anon Babble, i just spoke to god and he said none of us is real and we will all shortly die!
DOUBLE KILL
but the maelle ending is presented as unambiguously worse
It's not.
b-but it's gray and verso is sad
Yeah, Verso is sad and Maelle feels a bit awkward since she now knows that she is in a canvas, but the people of Lumiere are happy. Sciel with her husband, Gustave with Sophie, Esquie having a good time being a bouncer and all that.
Reminder that Maelle/Alicia can go back and forth between the real and canvas world as she please.
We will. Maybe that's the truth?
what RPGS have TRAITORS as bad as Verso? the only i can think of is cait sith but he wasnt that bad
I think they are who they were because she used their exact chroma to bring them back. That's why she couldn't bring back when at the point she re-formed Sciel and Lune.
But will she? In theory, every addict can just have a taste every now and then.
Alicia is a useless retard then also getting addicted to the painting and making things worse
she didn't hop into the painting and go "oh, this is nice, i'll stay here", she was reborn and lived in the canvas for 16 years.
I wouldn’t call Alicia’s situation an addiction. I don’t know why people keep saying that. Aline is apt, but Alicia was only herself in Lumiere a short time at the end of Act 2. She clearly wished to stay there because she could live a life without being disfigured. I wouldn’t call that addiction, it’s just wish fulfillment.
I know how powerful and intoxicating it is
I was enthralled and it nearly killed me
she taught me how to safely use out gift
how to soar without flying too close to the sun
and she never let me forget that every day we spend here has a price
its seems pretty obvious that living in a fantasy world becomes extremely addictive and those that dont take caution will lose themselves to it
Yep, nothing worse here than trapping your brother souls to live in imaginary world while your life rots away.
You know what gonna happen when she die? Would Verso be trapped forever in purgatory? Would the canvas survive without her inside keeping the canvas from being destroyed?
i guess a more ideal ending would be if maelle had a piece of her soul take over for verso's so he could RIP in peace but i guess we dont know if they can do that
Was the little kid with her at the end a young Verso that she repainted or one of Gustaves students? I honestly couldn't tell and got even more confused when Verso came out and started playing the Piano.
The alternative is suicide before 18 in her disabled, neglected life alone.
Ask yourself why drugs are considered bad fundamentally. Consider why we don't think it's bad to give someone who is dying enough drugs that they are completely out of touch with reality just so they can die painlessly, even if it's for a prolonged period.
We only value the potential. And we're shown that Alicia's family is fucking terrible and won't help her. She will be alone and not even have her fantasies anymore. We don't see Renoir hugging Alicia and telling her it will be okay, we see Alicia alone staring down at Verso's grave at the end.
That's makes it worse because if it was a good ending they would have showed Maelle's triumphant reunion with Gustave. Instead it focus on Verso's suffering and Maelle slowly rotting away.
I'm not addicted its just my wish to use these drugs
painted verso IS verso in every way, meaning he is the creator of the canvas, meaning he has priority over some faded memories that agree with him anyway. If OG verso was alive and wanted to destroy the canvas, would you deny him?
painted verso IS verso in every way
Counterpoint: he explicitly isn't.
while your life rots away.
In a fun world of magic and fantasy where you can live LONGER than you can in real life.
They would have just left the canvas alone for all eternity if Aline wouldn't have gone insane with grief anyways.
poor boy has to play the piano instead of getting to kill everybody
I'm very sad.
I think that was just a personification of "putting your soul into it". So it was a piece of Verso's soul.
painted verso IS verso in every way
he was literally created by aline
The alternative is suicide before 18 in her disabled, neglected life alone.
literally making up headcanon that she is suicidal to justify allowing her to heroin herself to death, sad
The ideal ending would be for we to somehow beat the fuck out of Aline into recognizing what the fuck is she doing.
She turn sane, let go of her son and the canvas were left alone with the occasional visit by Alicia to catch up with the canvas denizen.
Cut into the future where Alicia give the painting to her daughter for safe keeping, and so on and on.
If OG verso was alive and wanted to destroy the canvas, would you deny him?
Yeah. I don't think that parents should be allowed to abort their grown children either, before you think I'm a hypocrite.
He tried for 67 years and even if in Verso’s ending he succeeded at most she will live somewhat happily for a couple decades, as opposed to centuries happily in the canvas. It’s understandable he wanted to help her, but in all honesty their whole family is kind of fucked and they use their powers far too flippantly so everyone would have been happier if he just let her kill herself in the painting.
Stock standard JRPG ending where you kill an omnicidal god at the end, but now the game gets to make you feel like the villain because god was slightly depressed.
Counterpoint: he explicitly isn't.
Counter counterpoint: He choose death to save Alicia. There is absolutely no way that he would choose canvas over his own family.
He will recognize that Luminiere is 'alive' and 'real', but he will make that choice regardless.
imagine you're 7 feet tall how tall would you be?
I'm 5'9
That's how you think according to my wr*ter powers. Manlet. Like where do you want to go with this? It's not like you're going to agree with me if I go "if it was a bad ending they wouldn't have shown the people of Lumiere and Verso's best friends being excited for the concert". Even though I'm right and you're small.
he looks exactly like verso, acts exactly like verso, and has the memories of verso. If you put painted verso and original verso side by side you could not tell the difference.
supposed to believe Alicia's real body was just standing there outside the Canvas paralyzed with painter magic instead of shitting and pissing all over herself
Bro she would live a fraction of the time she will in the canvas, and it’s going to be as a permanently disfigured mute. Who cares if it’s “not real?” It’s a preferable life and based on all evidence these worlds seem altogether real but simply under the control of the Painter that enters it
Ah, right you are. I remember those lines now. Good eye anon, I see what you’re saying then.
We don't know how "real" the people in the painting are.
We do know that because we interacted with those people, saw their lives, their emotions, their free will (even to the point where they rebelled against their creator). By "we" I mean myself. Not sure what would have to be wrong with you to not see that.
She can still spend several lifetimes inside paintings. She could even spend several lifetimes inside Verso's painting. All she has to do is take fucking breaks and she wasn't willing to do that.
I was under the impression that she replaced Verso’s soul with her own, which is why her face starts rotting away like his did.
It doesn't look like that when I'm playing. Max settings with quality DLSS. Disabled motion blur and chromatic abomination.
You are being dishonest now, you can't possibly believe that ending was shown in a positive light. I'll leave you to yourself if you want to be right so much that you're resorting to this.
the child wants to do meth
she prefers being high to being sober whats the issue
every time
If drugs could heal your disfigurement and make you happy again using them would not be considered an addiction but a treatment. Your analogy is not apt for Alicia, only Aline.
just a little genocide
Verso-friends are so selfish that they don't even realize that other people exist.
I see the same thing in the people in my dreams though.
All she has to do is take fucking breaks and she wasn't willing to do that
congrats anon you discovered what addiction is
the girl power overtones.
Take your meds.
nooo, the male character is not allowed to have any flaws
You're cancer.
I agree with this. I would like a “Neverending Story” kind of ending where Alicia were to visit occasionally on adventures.
I'm happy that you didn't decide to wipe out the entire planet over it. Even if you wouldn't consider that to be a bad thing for some weird reason.
Notice how the only Versocels can cope is with false equivalences?
Uhhh, these people aren’t le real because I see people in my le dreams
And finally, it's no a simple answer as in "she can just take a break" because the issue is not that simple.
a) she doesn't want to leave, she said it herself that's her "home" now
b) even if she were to leave, time dilation would erase all the people dear to her
c) they need to destroy the canvas or Aline will throw herself into it again
So in Alicia's point of view she doesn't want to and can't leave.
I really want this game but it's sold out everywhere physically and I don't want to pay a scalper 100 bucks for this game. should I just wait?
What's a little genocide between friends, heh?
noooo you can’t be addicted stop
noooo stop being healthy and able to talk NO STOP YOU HAVE TO BE DISFIGURED
Oh no, someone stop the addict lol
Did you forget the OG Verso? Marche?
It's addiction, if we had the technology to create fantasy worlds where we are gods every single person would do so and would immediately take a short life on the outside in exchange for a long perfect like on the inside of a canvas
Yeah, it clearly wasn't an option.
I think you smell bad.
I’m not defending the character being a headstrong fool, but if she had to choose the real life or the fake one, the fake one’s not a bad choice.
Is your PC that shit?
I'm never playing this game.
this is a game worthy of the console physical master race. fuck pc faggot
oh no your face is burned
here take meth
maellefags lmao
If technology could reliably produce a lifetime of joy centuries long in an extremely convincing simulacrum it would not be morally wrong in the slightest for someone to choose to live that life. You’re struggling really hard to link this to a base drug like meth when they’re just not the same at all.
30FPS
Marche was right then. Verso is right now.
Not from my perspective in her original world (only this one matters, because I say so)
The writers are the writers of the video game. They're the reason real Verso died in the fire.
And after so many years, it is hearthing to see all the same arguments play out again.
and can't leave.
Because she doesn't want to.
Literally because she doesn't want to go back to her family and body.
oh no you could live centuries complete and happy and we could even visit you in the painting for centuries before you finally die in the real world?
nah you gotta live another 30 years a depressed cripple lol no ‘drugs’ for you ;)
Yes, you just have to used advanced logic to justify it.
I don't think that's the case.
Marche was right because Ivalice fucking sucked and Lune did not exist. Verso is wrong because Lumiere is cool and Lune exists. It’s as shrimple as that
human race ceases to exist because people only want to live in fantasy
I'm not struggling at all, you are justifying the decision of a retarded 16 year old female wasting away in a canvas that she will never leave because 'she wants to' and it feels better than her real life
entire theme of the game is about destructive and dangerous methods to deal with grief
guy with ugly reaction image thinks destroying everything is the correct way
People are under the impression you will live years in the outside world while you're in the painting, when it's more like weeks at most.
I read a letter from him and he said that if it were to him, all would be saved and have everlasting life, but free will makes it so that you have to accept the free gift of salvation yourself.
EVEN if you agreed with Alicia, it's not like the people in the ending, except for MAYBE Sciel and Lune are the originals, and even then she's already tampered with their memories so they fit in her fantasy life.
Even Gustave and Sophie are just her impressions. So at that point why even bother if they are all glorified clones created by her.
No? People who had depression say all too often that it was live withdrawing in their own world. Renoir says in a journal Aline had the same symptoms, wouldn't talk to him, wouldn't care about anything else.
oh no you could live centuries complete and happy
lmao
renoir spends 65 years trying to save his wife
now his daughter is also refusing to leave and Aline will inevitably re-enter the canvas
now that his favourite daughter and wife are back in their addiction loop i will do a 180 on my steadfast father figure writing and just let them be
you are a dumbass nigger if you dont realise that clea and renoir will be back in there after a nights rest doing the same shit, and verso will obviously join the cause just as he did with alines version. It's a loop of destruction there is no happy life in lumiere
b) even if she were to leave, time dilation would erase all the people dear to her
I'm not entirely certain that time always works that way. Maybe things go slower when there is no painter in the canvas? Would be weird if there were 100 canvas years between each visit of child Verso and child Clea.
No, because of the other reasons he posted.
Did everyone miss the part where the people she brought back were not real but just her impression of them? Their chroma is gone. Lune, Scriel both died in at the end of Act 2.
niggas in the denial phase creating absurd headcanon to justify the shit plot
lmao fag fans for a fag french game
Both choices destroy everything.
it's not like the people in the ending, except for MAYBE Sciel and Lune are the originals
We don't know that for sure and I'd say it's hinting towards them being real rather than not.
she's already tampered with their memories
Did she?
Verso is kind of a shitter. He should've been nicer to his little sister.
Renoir is a good person.
The human race is ‘t going to cease to exist because a cripple is allowed to live a fantasy that is much happier and much, much longer from her point of view. Your only argument is that it is not real, which is debatable given the unknown mechanics of how Painting works and the simple fact that the simulacrum is totally indistinguishable from reality save also having godlike power.
In my universe she brought them back by using their specific chroma which made them real.
I'd say it's hinting towards them being real rather than not.
The moment they died and their chroma got absorbed Alicia lost all ability to recreate them 1:1.
It's just clones.
Then explain why Verso was so unhappy? If he’s just a brainless clone, then why does he still act like his original self?
I agree with both painted and normal renoirs line of logic, not verso's. I side with maelle though.
Nothing about versos philosophy or motivations is coherent. Although maelles motivation post awakening is more about selfishness, it's still protecting people.
I side with the people of lumere. No one person matters more than the whole, and if Alicia is willing to sacrifice herself to save them, then she’s a hero. Everyone who sides with Verso forgets why they even went on the expedition in the first place.
Same as Sciel and Lune, she quite literally used his chroma since he was still there when she took over painting duties.
Everyone else though? Tough luck.
Lune and Sciel in Act 3 remember private conversations they had with Verso which Maelle didn't know about, so there is continuity within their chroma.
Are you also gay in your universe?
I didn’t say they wouldn’t be back, I was arguing against the notion that Alicia making her choice to live her life unblemished wasn’t one of addiction.
it's still protecting people.
Her made up versions of dead people so she can play pretend, yes.
She herself admits they won't come back like lune and sciel.
Is this how you reach out to a brother figure?
Then why didn’t he turn on her again if she brought him back almost straight away?
My argument is that she is an ignorant child who doesn't know better, your argument is that it feels good and it doesn't hurt anyone, you wouldn't be able to produce a philosophically consistent reason why you would deny a 16 year old child who deals with chronic pain the ability to enter some drug fueled coma that killed them in a month as long as they perceived time differently
She's god and quite literally forcing him to do her biding.
I think you missed the part where alicia is a bitch.
She's protecting the population too not just gustav and verso
I missed the part where that’s my problem
the population too not just gustav and verso
What population? Everyone is dead.
I fucking despise Verso the whiny edgy bitch for what he did to Lune, I'm a single issue voter. Fuck him, rot in canvas hell forever.
All of Lumiere was made up to begin with, they are still people. There’s no convincing argument why these people don’t deserve life, when by all accounts Painters are simply gods in other realms. If God is real would you think no one’s life worth living?
Dies
Gets revived
Dies again
Why didn’t the writers hate them so much?
you're ignoring all the happy people who are non-consentingly erased from existence. this is like wanting to obliterate omelas for the sake of the child when the child isn't even suffering they're just in the pleasure cube.
everyone thinks people will live a happy ending in maelles version
missed the part where she started pulling strings to control her own brother who she loves the most
paired with the ominous music, I think its pretty clear she is a little bitch who will become a tyrant
If you are admitting they are people and deserve the same respect as real people then you would agree what Alicia does in the end is fucking terrible because she just cloned them all to live out their fantasies.
If they are human beings, death is final and everything else is cope (this is the theme of the game and what Alina did btw)
ME OWN FOOKIN SISTER MADE ME PLAY PIANO!
Poor Lune
She’s objectively a cripple mute with one eye. My argument is that in the canvas she can experience lifetimes of joy living in a body that’s repaired. Your literal only defense is that it is not real, which requires you to define what real means and why it is better to be real than fake. The truth is that if a simulacrum is indistinguishable from that which it copies it effectively becomes that thing in itself. Yes, if a child facing chronic pain were able to truly, perfectly create the perception of lifetimes of joy using enhanced technology and in so doing that killed them, it would be moral to allow them that peace.
I'm not, I feel its just pretty much a given that they will all be gommaged again when Renoir re-enters the painting so I feel their demise is guaranteed, and the only logical way forward is to end the loop
they should not have made him anime grunt and vocalize discomfort, it stopped the scene from being pure kino
there's a persistent argument in these threads about the people of lumiere being impossible to revive -- they're "clones" or "fake" or some other discounting lesser being. but we have no reason to think this is the case. sciel and lune return just fine. verso seems to think they can come back, so he's clearly not using it to justify his decisions. i don't know where it comes from.
able to truly, perfectly create the perception of lifetimes of joy using enhanced technology and in so doing that killed them
ari shaffir famously had a 6 month trip on Salvia which he deemed to be completely imperceivable to real life and there are other drugs similar that retarded shaman niggers take in which people believe they last upwards of a year, I just dont understand why we arent offering this to children with chronic pain right now
The game got ruined in act 2, I was extremely hyped for the expedition and got rugpulled mercilessly.
no you don't get it
I got it, the writer for me good. I just don't care for a random family's soap opera
i don't know where it comes from.
Alicia saying so herself, they can't come back the same way Lune and Sciel did, because she just had their chroma right there when she painted them.
Everyone else is a clone at best and Alicia's puppet at worse.
i think the maelle ending shows that renoir is pretty much beaten and has given up on trying to rip his daughter out of the canvas.
i wonder if aline stays in the canvas in the maelle ending?
Earn Lune's trust back, help her find her parents' expedition, max her relationship and fuck her
Turn around and consign her and her entire people to death
Her silent seething stare after
I'm fucking leaking
maellefags cant see anything wrong with letting a 16 year old go ahead with her addiction cause 'she wants to'
The alternative is enabling suicide as solution to grief which the game also quickly admonishes Gustave for considering.
I suppose both endings are suicides actually, perhaps the ultimate takeaway is that some people can simply never be rehabilitated.
if you're created, influenced and can be erased at a whim of a supreme creator, that means your life is fake, you're not a real human and can be erased without moral qualms
religionbros, not like this....
I don’t know that I’d say what Alicia did was terrible, other than that she created people for selfish reasons. Those people all deserve life however, and are as indistinguishable from you or I save that they exist in a world I can modify at my fancy. They certainly are not the people that died, but they are people nonetheless.
can we get a quote of the dialogue? i didn't interpret it that way at the time -- she had extremely limited control of the chroma, was inexperienced, etc. everyone in camp acts like everyone can be brought back, even verso, who has ever incentive to think otherwise considering what he does in the ending.
then again i guess he could be lying?
Of people just said renoir was the good guy. I would have no issue. Nothing about versos motivations are good.
So if she only created them for her ending, what is the issue here? They don't exist otherwise.
Because a random druggie claiming a harmful drug was actually really great is not the same as us bearing witness to the kind of wondrous reality the Painters inhabit. You can’t realistically claim that Alicia living centuries of happy life in the canvas is the same as some random druggie overdosing on heroin. They simply are not the same, it’s a shit analogy dude.
Verso even having the option to fuck Lune makes bile rise up my throat, what a weaselly little bitch.
But we never see Renoir beneath the Monolith.
Because Verso is sad
So we should let the fragment of a man's soul continue to paint tirelessly so creations of Aline can live?
Verso did nothing wrong and he put Maelle in her proper place.
When Gustave died, she said she didn't know if he was her father or her brother.
Painted Verso did what her real father and real brother both tried to do for her.
i wonder if aline stays in the canvas in the maelle ending?
both Renoir and Clea mention that Aline will always find the canvas so long as it exists, and it makes sense that a grieving mother would not want to be apart from the remaining fragment of her sons soul, so the Maelle ending also jeopardises Aline who will inevitably re-enter the canvas and begin grieving endlessly again
You got NTR'd.
tfw just wanna die but a teenage girl’s feelings would be hurt so instead of keeping free will she just turns me into a fucking sim character instead
"yay, we won and I can see my parents again!"
literally seconds later Betrayal McGee who you were consistently right about betrays everyone AGAIN and the entire world has to die now sowwy :^)
Honestly, I can't say that I wouldn't after having experiencing it for myself. the feelings of anger and hopelessness that shit caused was unbearable. Now of course Ik what Verso did is wrong, I'm just saying that I can understand the feeling of just wanting to have it all end and to let the people you love to have some form of closure.
esquie is always offering comfort and hugs, and is always there and never mad
find him as a plush on verso's room, also maelle holding him during the funeral
he was painted into existence so verso could always have someone to hug, just like a stuffed animal
kino and wholesome
monoco is always loyal, never questioning, and shares a bond that transcends friendship, on top of having fur
just like the family dog
he even made sure that his dog is by his side
even more kino and wholesome
It sucks, but they were already dead and lune had come to terms with it a long time ago.
The remnant of his soul that continues to paint within the heart of the canvas is just as tired of it as game Verso is of living, Maellefags are unironically delusional homosexuals
writing some headcanon about alicia living centuries of a happy life doesn't elevate your argument at all considering it would be retarded to believe that Maelle's ending is anything other than a circle of death and despair as Renoir goes back into the canvas to save his now dying daughter (and mother as soon as she jumps back in)
it's so fucking brutal lol. and you can tell the devs love verso and fully cosigned this as the right move.
Yeah, but same as Sciel, you can very quickly un-come to terms with it when clean resurrection is on the table
The issue is simply the genesis of a person apropos of nothing other than amusement. I would consider it flippant in the extreme to create a person in such a fashion, which is part of the genesis of Verso’s depression. But regardless, despite her having done that the people she created still deserve to live.
No wonder the Chinese are review bombing the game.
Verso's end is absolutely the better end, but they still depict Verso as a lying snake and not at all a good, moral person. His motivation for destroying the painting is not actually to save Alicia, as proven by his begging her to erase him in Maelle's ending. His concern isn't still trying to convince her, but trying to get the fuck out. There's a reason his axon is Visages. He's a natural liar because the real one was too.
clean resurrection*
*Alicia's clones
drug is harmful for reason X
living in a canvas that kills you in a month on the outside isnt harmful though
Completely irrelevant the only thing you care about is the time perception, if some druggies experience is that it is identical to reality who are you to deny them?
The scene in verso’s ending where Monoco and Esquie hug you as they disappear fucking broke me god damn
Now you’re jumping back to the reality of the ending with Renoir’s return, and not the substance of what we’re discussing which was that Alicia’s choice was not one of addiction but treatment. Even if she were to perish in reality, it would be after having experienced centuries of joy in an altogether real other world.
There's a reason his axon is Visages. He's a natural liar because the real one was too.
Visages is about how he had to wear masks for his family.
anyone wnat to guess how writers differ from painters?
Who gives a shit about Verso's wellbeing when he's so unlikable? This isn't even Omelas level, he's just pissy for nothing
tfw the only characters I end up caring for by the end of Act 2 were Lune and Gustave
one dies at the end of Act 1, the second turns into a punching bag for the game's resident assholes, with all of her hopes and dreams crushed and then gets wiped from existence, because Verso can't be bithered to play the piano anymore.
Alicia and Verso are both colossal shitheads, so in the end I am just rooting for the the ending where the canvas people rebel and kick out all the painters from their world, because fuck their stupid family drama.
Jesus Christ, I'm depressed.
they don't make creations running on soul fragments
writers did nothing wrong
they write instead of paint
token asian character gets cucked hard and murdered by the white chad
this is the good ending
what did the devs mean by this
His motivation for destroying the painting is not actually to save Alicia, as proven by his begging her to erase him in Maelle's ending
I don't think this is true though, he just has multiple motivations
He wants to die
He wants to kick his mother out of the painting to stop her from killing herself
He wants to free the fragment of Verso's soul
He wants to kick Alicia out of the painting so she doesn't end up as a repeat of her mother
When he fails on the last two points he wants to at least hit the first one, but Alicia makes him play the piano instead.
Because time dilation is NOT the only thing I said. I also brought up the fact that the simulacrum is indistinguishable from reality. That is not true of drugs causing someone to have an ego death and dying.
I'm talking about the SOUL of the real Verso retard, Maelle wants to continue to abuse her the last remnant of her brother's existence so she can play god, she is as disgusting inside as she is out
If I decide to play this game, it better impress me or I'm going to beat all of you over the head with a 2 x 4.
I really want a writer focused game for the pure schizokino that can come out of a third party fucking with what you as a player experience.
I could have written this word for word.
Fuck everything.
i always thought it was strange how verso didn't get more spotlight on visages island considering the whole thing was about him.
After the reveal that the world of the fracture is a canvas, I went straight to Lumier and beat the game. How much did I miss? Just a few optional Chromatic bosses or what?
got a better lot than the black guy
Those monsters.
No game has managed to pull of the
this is actually X character's story all along
Without feeling maliciously written
How much did I miss?
a ton of shit but you were supposed to do it after beating the game anyway
There's quite a lot of content in act 3 but most of it should be saved for after the last boss. The only stuff you probably should have done were the relationship quests. There's an entire third axon as part of Maelle's.
In the overworld? Multiple large scale dungeons, more fleshed out story quests, and multiple Chromatic fights
Relationship quest that shed more insights into the characters and some lore about the family.
I also brought up the fact that the simulacrum is indistinguishable from reality
Sorry but I don't understand the difference between that idea and a druggo who has an experience that is indistinguishable from reality. we're just gonna assume for the sake of this argument that the druggos are lying and they dont actually find it indistinguishable?
Painted Alicia Fight + cutscenes
Simon
Some OP pictos
The Tower
most important stuff is the flying manor and renoirs drafts, two large areas with unique bosses and lore. there's also the challenge tower if you want more combat, and the dungeon maelle's relationship quest gets you access to
Uh it’s like poetry, it rhymes
written by an asian woman
why are chinks so self-hating?
I am going to guess that rather than creating whole worlds from scratch, they simply modify worlds that exist. Perhaps they are opposed to Painters’ seeming reckless disregard for creation and destruction.
The game has real observable souls and soul fragments, there is no lore to suggest that the painted creations have a soul, no matter how sentient they appear, ergo, I had no issue destroying them all with verso ending
Ik from the very beginning that Maelle was the real protag merely from the amount of death flags Gus had, I didn't expect him to die so early tho.
And what's the difference in your mind?
Unless writers can affect the real world I don't see what they'd even do different except it'd be ink themed given painters can already create entire independent, thinking creatures and whole words for them to exist in.
Lune and Sciel remember conversations that Maelle didn't know about when she recreated them. That means there's a continuous sense housed in their chroma, so the chroma is functionally a soul.
Is there a reason why we don’t see Lune die in Verso’s ending? Is she literally too angry to die?
Anon we know that heroin does not actually ake you experience time at super slow speeds. We factually know this. I have no idea why you keep trying to equate a druggie addicted to a substance saying something about it when we literally see throughout this game the reality they are in is indistinguishable from the real thing save for Painters having godlike powers. They are not remotely similar.
Having Maelle as protagonist would be one thing, but immediately dropping in Sasuke to Gus' Naruto, complete with the same weapon, is hilariously tone deaf
What is there to suggest we even have souls and aren’t just some faggots in some niggeralien science experiment
Hon hon anon, I sell you painting of your waifu you can jump in!
who said anything about heroin?
verso suffers
lune feet saved
maelle wins
kino cinematography
what was the drawback to her ending again
NOOOO THIS WORLD IS REALER THAN THIS OTHER WORLD BECAUSE... BECAUSE I SAID SO, OKAY???
The devs really really like Verso so they put in sad music
I really thought that Maelle was gonna bring him back before her ending to be a party member again.
nothing which is why it should be legal to fucking murder you
PLAY THE FUCKING PIANO
Maelle isn't an escape seeking drug fiend you fucking stupid versofa-
Hmm no I think I'll wipe out an entire continent and all the living beings on it instead. Enjoy your burn scars.
Every person who chose the ending to give carte blanche to a emotionally unstable 16 year old femoid to consume herself in a fantasy addiction is a woman or a homosexual, there is a reason why all the based characters (ren/clea) are against it. now reply to me with your cope because you live a dogshit life and would also do the same
You sit down and fill Gustave's journal every day
Even Lune writes her song (and scientific observations before that) during the final relationship dialogue
bring back Gustave just so he can learn he got double NTRed and his sisterdaughter is a retard
Just let him rest with some dignity
play my song, verso
How can it be a drug if it’s not real?
do you think esquie was fine with having his world erased
Because an in game character literally says it's a drug
Best ending for best girl
Could only be improved by Gustave's arm slugging Verso during the ending fight
Why do you think they can still sense his chroma?
He's watching.
bring back Gustave just so he can learn he got double NTRed and his sisterdaughter is a retard
Kek, fair enough.
Pick a suitable drug of your choosing, their method of action is nothing like being transported to another world like Lumiere.
couldn't Maelle just recreate Lumiere but leave Verso dead? Why did she need an elderly piano player? and why did it have to be Verso?
I understand the addiction/saving friends angle. But wtf is Verso's place in it? Why not make a 3rd Verso who is happy to play the piano and doesn't need to struggle to resist? Didn't the painted Verso die in their fight?
You're 100% right. Verso did the right thing.
I would cum in Alicia's fleshy eyesocket
I simply do not care for Verso (real).
et gustave dome guardeam
gustave guards the dome
versofags think gustave would destroy lumiere
versofags in charge of paying attention
Because she is a sick drug fueled monster like her mother. She's clinging to the conversation she had with Verso and forcing him to reenact it.
NO STOP YOU HAVE TO LIVE IN PAIN NOOO STOP BEING HAPPY YOU BITCH
i don't give a fuck about the femoid. she was in the wrong too. i'm just doing what my bro gustave would've wanted. he wasn't any less real than that bitch alicia or that bastard verso.
Alicia didn't just want Lumiere, she also wanted onii-chan
this is the bad ending according to opium addicts
Why should I care what they say? They’re not real
Because despite her bitching about how he's not really Verso, in his own ending she begs him not to leave her 'again'. She does see him as a proper replacement. And she refuses his wish because her cope is that he's just sad about being immortal and she'll fix that so it'll be fine.
don't care about the painters or some bitch's health
will troll verso though
Liberal filth, kill yourself
Shut up and play the fuckin piano you grody dork
I love Anon Babble
I really do enjoy that this game was so good that we can have threads to bump limit just arguing over narrative shit.
she could have 500+ oniichans that love her, she didn't need the seething version
Um what about the hecking painting people?
It seems no matter how talented you are at painting they stiff have free will, Aline definitely did not paint Verso with the intention of destroying the canvas yet he arrived at that decision. New verso would almost certainly go the same route
i'm just doing what my bro gustave would've wanted
o7
Painters decide what things look like, and design their characteristics
Writers decide how things play out and how they act
In other words, painters control space, writers control time
I’m permanently disfigured
My family wants me around, but wants nothing to do with me
My brother and all my friends are dead
WW1 is right around the corner
What a life
YOU HAVE TO CALL A MAN A MA'AM OR HE WILL BE SAD
This is how you sound
She wanted to show him that he could be happy doing what he wanted
I do not care about these people. My niggas are in the painting, now get back to the basement.
It costs nothing to be kind
He thinks a world with magical Painters and Writers and a December 33 follows the same timeline as us
Anyway, looking forward to the Austrian painter's canvas
You are a coomer whose entire decision was probably motivated by the fact that you wouldn't be able to see lunes feet anymore, kys brownoid
lol, lmao even
She was not ready to let Verso go. She never learned to process his death so she forced him to continue on. As the ending plainly shows she eventually lost herself, forcing an old friend to live life suffering in silence, perhaps even modifying reality such that no one notices him suffering.
devs are weebs
some variant of this
It costs integrity.
Why do verso fag arguments all hinge on unconfirmed bullshit?
The painting people are fake
The restored lumiere is not restores, they're copies despite maelle saying otherwise and verso never contradicting her either( he does not tell wciel it would be a different husband in her scene despite always seething about the copy topic)
Maelle is a mind controlling tyrant (???)
Anyway, looking forward to the Austrian painter's canvas
Might actually be a kino sequel.
Honor died on the beach
this is the good ending according to the people who ignore they just genocided an entire fucking universe because bawww my feefees hurt I’m a big baby waby
It's obvious enough that it didn't need to show that. Do you really need everything to be spelled out for you?
Yes.
Verso says "do you know what it's like to lose your sibling and never get the chance to say goodbye"
after what he did to Gustave
lol fuck this guy
less thinking and more playing Verso
Maelle is a mind controlling tyrant (???)
explain why Verso is sad and struggling to play a piano piece and isn't trying to kill Maelle to save her?
They were always dead
Uh was that an A Minor? I explicitly requested G Major piano man
Maelle and Verso both deserve to suffer.
And don't forget Gustave's chroma still existing in the world, just not found yet.
Pretty much nothing wrong if you didn't fall for the game's manipulation to care for a family of fuck ups in the meat world
did Alicia start the fire
It plays the piano or else it gets the hose again
You can literally see her altering the Chroma around Verso before the jump cut to her addicted fucked up face (btw Maellefags, this scene is confirmation that the Canvas is killing her like Renoir said so stop with the "he's lying!!!" cope)
Maelle is a mind controlling tyrant (???)
unusual soundbite occurs
verso snaps out of lucidness
pans to Maelle with ominous music as she is bleeding paint from her eyes indicating that she is painting or controlling the environment
It's weird how the devs seemingly had a very obvious intent with this kind of messaging but it just went straight over some peoples heads
He didn't do anything to Gustave
Noo you were supposed to help him even though your job was protecting maelle and only maelle
?
Verso AND Maelle suffering in one ending? I'm already sold anon, no need to tell me.
tricked by Writers in some unexplained way
room filled with books and a typewriter
Probably. Maybe writing and painting are the same power at their core and she wrote some stupid shit.
yes
the fire rises
You forgot
the whole world revolves around me
I should never give second chances, even after talking things out and creating a mutual understanding of each other's thoughts and feelings
just let anyone Maelle cares for die, it'll be fun, it'll be based
Not until the Painters decided to have a big fat fucking whiny baby session. If they all fucked off Lumiere would have been fine
Alina hates her so much she didn't even give her colors
This is just cruelty
Verso says "do you know what it's like to lose your sibling and never get the chance to say goodbye"
Couldn't even retrieve his body.
here's his quarter written journal or something
You can just like bury his metal arm or something to be symbolic
Verso is the worst.
I love the fact that coomers are instantly drowned out by on-topic discussion even more
They keep trying to invade and shit up the threads and they keep getting ignored lmao
Not his job and he couldn't have stopped the shot
He literally says he could have.
He literally says he could have saved him and let him die on purpose because he would have gotten in the way.
You do see that it clearly says he could’ve saved Gustave if he wanted to?
lets your older brother/crush die
kills all of your friends
dies
Verso was based
I genuinely spat out my drink kek
He outright states he uses his death to manipulate Maelle
My only prerogative since the start of the game was giving Gus, Lune and Sciel the best possible ending, so I respect the coomers for not being pseud fucks
Why is it bad to be selfish exactly?
uhhhh my job is to fly the plane, NOT to land it. Maybe you should have updated the contract bro
Verso knew Maelle had a crush on Gustav, and that was just wrong on so many levels
everyone dies at a young age
Why is thar a problem again?
Because it hurts feetfags and cunnyseur waifus feelings
>"genocided an entire fucking universe"
that was filled with artificial people who weren't real
also from the guy who ultimately created the universe and decided it was time to shut it off.
The only time I recall where I felt viscerally disgusted in getting to play as the villain in a game.
Verso, incredible character, fuck him.
because old age didn't matter in the painting when it had 60 year old gigachads punching nevrons to dust
I would have killed gustav aswell if it meant less competition to get with lune and sciel
because if 32 is "elderly", then 16 is a young adult. Similar to a young woman in her 30s dating a 70 year old guy
religious retards genuinely believe human life has no value because some literally who sky daddy or ayyylmao simulation management can just shut it down
the fracture already fucked the world beyond repair, put it down
Why is it bad to let someone be murdered in order to manipulate someone? Am I literally talking to Verso what the fuck play the fucking piano bitch
implying
You know it's fucked up when nobody self inserts as Verso, he's that much of a snake
Assuming that expedition 60 was full of 60 year olds is just as dumb as assuming that expedition 99 was full of 99 year olds
dude they gommaged at the end
i self-insert as monoco
That dude was literally Godbert Manderville
Self-inserting is gay and feminine behavior
Why aren’t they real? Because Painters can destroy them? What makes them any less real, other than that they exist in another world?
Expedition 60 my fuarkin heroes.
Be me
Romance Sciel because I thought she was the only romance
Get told to fuck off the moment she found out there's the slightest chance to bring her husband back
Find out you can romance Lune, it's just later
It's not fair anons....
The Gustave and Sophie at the end are absolutely fake and not the real ones. Scriel and Lune pretending otherwise also shows that Maelle did some mindfuck to them.
honest question:
was Expedition 60 a fucking Jojo reference?
The messenger gommaged.
Verso ending was easily the pick for multiple reasons
women are retarded
coomers are livid their footwaifu dies
I hate gustavs voice actor
Clea is the best girl
"human life"
they were all just painted creations in a painted world by the whims of a child
You must be very attached to you anime and Manga comics
Nonsense, just paint a happy little tree on there and give him some friends
it doesn't have to
the one carrying the message swam back to lumiere on pure muscle and willpower and died to the 60 gommage
I hate gustavs voice actor
Opinion invalidated.
Sciel betraying me after helping her overcome her fear of swimming was enough justification to genocide the entire canvas
Explain what separates the experience of life within the painting versus without.
No coping about intrinsic factors, just the parts that make a sum.
all those bodies literally everywhere
expedition 33 was like 10 dudes
That world was doomed, let it go
kek can someone do various bob ross edits of the in-game paintings
My painting is not a universe, libtard, shut the fuck up
Anon verso doesn't refuse, he hesitates since he's loving a fake version of his musician dreams.he knows maelle is still dying, that's what the shot of her true out of canvas face means
You are embarrassingyourswlf with so basic an interpretation about black and white spoopy music
Does Free Will exist when a God like being exists on the same realm as you that can alter the plane however they want
marvel fan responds
Opinion revalidated
This is what I never understood. There had to be fucking millions of bodies scattered across the continent
If they live, die, love, hate, get bored, have passions, relations, preferences, hopes and aspirations, their life is worth as much.
Expedition 60 was full of Level 1s and they made it to the final boss using DSP
tactics
Existence doesn't mean intervention
Free will can exists until that godlike being decides to mess with it
Versofags adamant they were not people to justify their actions
Fucking cowards. I admit it was extermination and I did it anyways.
If his anime and manga comics were convincingly perfect simulations of reality they would deserve to live. You are really bad at these analogies.
To you, the player Renoir and his family aren't real either so why not let a higher quantity of fake people enjoy things?
He fucking grunts in pain you idiot.
just a happy little number there
Because the world is just some conjugation of an actual real person.
The painters are not under threat of the painted people and can delete them as easily as they are created. They are like AI in a well acted sim, you can feel sympathy for them inside, but there is no true substance once you exit the painting.
No your painting isn’t but theirs is dipshit
but there is no true substance once you exit the painting.
Alicia...
he's loving a fake version of his musician dreams
There's literally chroma being altered around his face when the noise occurs, followed by the snap to Maelle, she is very clearly manipulating him, I dont know how you arrived at this retarded position
kek
a painting person could create the lumina converter which could power them up to the degree they can force a "real" person out ON THEIR OWN
name a Sim that can do that?
All of these things can be edited and arranged by the painters. However they occurred naturally, means nothing to the painters fancy.
So those are tears of joy and shakes of nervousness?
NTA but Verso did nothing but manipulate Maelle the whole game, he has earned a good hosing.
Doesn't mean she'll do the same to others
How is it a genocide? There are literally 4 humans left and 1 of them turns into a puppet.
Do Verso or Maelle even really use the Lumina Converter
Is there a porn actress that looks like Clea?
She's driving me insane.
grunting and shaking is a sign that hes loving his fake version
They can be brought back from the sea of LCL-Chroma
Perfect.
Even if they were, they still wouldn't. The analogy is sound, you are not.
Basado
There are literally-PFFFFTTTTPFFFFT!
I miss him bros, no homo
she can remake cope fake versions
murder / genocide its still wrong Verso
And people in real life believe in demonic possession and the supernatural manipulating people and the world, yet they don't argue that free will doesn't exist and their life is as valuable as nonexistence.
Yeah, Lune mentions once that he picked up on the lumina usage really quickly.
explain to me why a painting person is worth less than a "real" nigger?
I don't, his kit is basically garbage after getting Sciel
Everyone who finds the will to live will return or whatever
Why does it being a simulacrum mean it is not itself deserving of existence? It is not treated as a fake realm but entirely real, the only difference being the Painters have godlike powers. By all accounts they are real people with real desires the exact same as you or I.
What the fuck is that noise Verso hears in Maelle's ending supposed to be? It seems significant but I've never seen anyone else talk about it.
I got nothing
Post video and timestamp you're referencing
Even if they were, they still wouldn't
The "fake people" invented the lumina converter that can overpower "real people" thoughever?
I found it funny because it what he deserves.
The bell noise that makes him look up.
youtu.be
It is not treated as a fake realm but entirely real
Not by versofags, that's why they're spineless. Own it and accept the gravity of his choice, and stop coping.
You can believe in free will and believe you have value as a unique soul, but when the person who created your existence themselves let's you know that you do not actually possess any of that, maybe you think twice about it, if you're even capable.
Because they're parasites feeding off the remnants of a childlike soul to exist>
Hypothetically because of Aline, same as the power she gave to Simon before he got duped
Why wouldn’t they deserve to live? Because they can be destroyed by you easily? That is without sense
It's Maelle controlling him in one form or another, it's why once it occurs he snaps back into lucidness and stops resisting
having Verso romance Lune
Fucking ew, he deserves to get cucked by Sciel, it's in character for her.
That's the "chroma" sound effect anon.
Maelle's a fucking witch
Maybe it's the Chroma/whatever is flying by his head, indicating that Maelle is using her painting powers
if you're even capable
And they absolutely are capable because they're sentient and have awareness of their self.
Is this romance dependent? Like if you romanced Lune instead does she gommage while Sciel gives you the death stare, or is it always Lune?
there were a lot of them on the battlefield
After the final fight
Sciel: we did it Verso! Now I can get my husband back!!!
Verso: one sec, I have something to do behind this portal real quick.
But Maelle brainwashing Verso is okay?
I was wondering the same thing during a lot of moments when Sciel comforts Verso
I don't remember chroma sounding like that.
The indication of her powers is just before that. It shows her eyes starting to quiver and strain while there's an oil paint sound effect like when a gradient attack is going off.
Play the piano fag.
yes look how happy he is
That what she said
They are probably at the bottom of the sea because of the snake or inside a larger nevron's stomach
Well the earlier expeditions obviously had an enormous population to pool from, expedition 90 could have had more 20 year olds than it did eldery folk, just like how a modern military is comprised almost exclusively of young soldiers
This was the only thing that felt bad about Verso's ending
Their "deserving" to live is only based on the whimsy of their creator, who wants the universe gone.
Being easily created and easily destroyed just means they have less say in what happens to their existence.
It's literally the chime of finding chroma or lumina
Being easily created and easily destroyed just means they have less say in what happens to their existence
You have nothing to say about your existence either.
There was nobody even left when the final decision was made so imagine me feeling responsible for a genocide that I didn't commit when I turned those lights out, later bitch
Any ending that maximises Verso and Verso (real) suffering is good and moral, now get to work Maelle.
Maelle could have brought them back to life in an instant tho
this shit sounds like some redditor claiming everyone is abusive and/or a narcissist
So in the end your entire moral system is dependent on simple force. If I’m strong enough to kill you then you simply did not deserve to live.
The gestrels we're still alive though
She'd have to sort out the chroma first so it'll take a while
That's just your opinion. And it doesn't matter anyway, as they are all simulated people in lesser world created by mere men themselves, to be erased and manipulated as the painters so choose.
Looks like she should have done it quicker cause I didnt see anyone get ressed
those shots of sciel and lune at the end there -- what did they mean by that?
You sound more like an NPC than any character in this game. And I think you know that.
the only moral imperative is power, if I can kill you your life wasn't worth anything
if I’m strong enough to kill you then you simply did not deserve to live.
this is literally how black people think
Of course it matters. Your entire argument hinges that because they can destroy, it is morally okay that they do it. That’s senseless
What do black people have to do with this
Technically it's Italian since it's Machiavelli who coined it
Nothing to worry about of course.
nothing I just hate them
