Why do TES fans hate ESO so much?

Why do TES fans hate ESO so much?

A lot of The Elder Scrolls (TES) fans dislike The Elder Scrolls Online (ESO) because it feels like a departure from the core single-player experience that made the main TES games so beloved. ESO is an MMO, and its focus on multiplayer gameplay, quests designed for group content, and a subscription-based model alienates fans who love the deep, immersive, and solitary experience of games like Skyrim or Oblivion. Additionally, the game takes place in a different time period, which some fans feel undermines the established lore and history of Tamriel. While some enjoy ESO for what it is, many TES purists see it as a diluted version of the world they love.

Max level is like 2,500 and only niggers make it that far before quitting.

Lore is nonsensical and sticks out like a sore thumb.

But every TES game retcons stuff

Yeah and Online still sticks out

they get content, and TESboys never do

I hate most of it's lore changes, the one that aggravates me the most is the OC donut steel daedra prince

I like how AI posts often read like someone giving a complete bullshit response to a question they don’t know the answer too.

Lore-wise, it's Oblivion on steroids, turning every fantastical aspect hinted at in previous games into boring mundane generic fantasy. It's also a shitty MMORPG with predatory monetization.

Leveling up is absolutely pointless amd actively hurts you

Be honest, you used some AI to write that for you.

Gameplaywise is worse than Arena and the art style is puke inducing

This is the exact same post.

I was surprised it didn't pick up a single valid criticism, which I assume would be plentiful online, I mean reviews are full of them, so they must've asked it to ignore all reviews or something.

I hate the way you are slow and the skill system works but honestly all mmos are shit. People who maje mmos hate their playerbase. But their relationship to player base is similar to a casino with its own brand of addicted patronage.

I don't like that a story that is not meant to be canon is shitting up the wikis, that's all, ESO itself ain't that bad.

I think we didn't get a sequel because they kept trying to force this. Makes zero since otherwise.
I can't stand I'll never get warcraft 4 because too many people want to ruin their lives over a skinner box.
Gacha, MMO, and GAAS NEEDS to die.

It's probably because Microsoft owns ChatGPT.

That's all AI does and it words things like a fag.

This

Because instead of playing like an Elder Scrolls game with multi-player, it plays like any other MMO with all of the worst tedium those games are known for, and Tamriel is just a backdrop.

Horrible, generic fantasy aesthetics degrading the TES world with an utter lack of immersion, Combat is weightless MMO skill clicking and every enemy is level scaled to make sure character progression feels pointless. Class design is dumb and is nothing like TES staple classes either. Quests are your average kill 10 wolves mmo shit even worse than skyrim's worst quests. Lore additions range from extremely bland to nonsensical fanfic writing.

The one virtue I'll add is the NPC character writing tries a more involving narrative approach and they actually feel like characters compared to single player TES's robotic npcs

I don't hate ESO as a setting/game. But I do hate the fact ESO's an MMO.
I'd have preferred a story with a clear beginning and end. Where I can do everything in my own time and reach the ending in my team.
By virtue of being an MMO, it's a lot more "harder" to do that.
Of course with my experience with ESO, all the way up to High Isle I can see the appeal and why it continues to get players to this day and has people who love playing it.
But it's just not for me cause of that MMO drawback

Remember how massive and world shaping an event the Oblivion Crisis was?

Well the king of rape already tried it a couple centuries back and we just never talk about it really.
It's non canon and it shits the actual lore by people pretending it's not non canon

I have a rational hatred of any MMOs

Why?

Go into uesp and read any lore article. You'll read some high quality stuff and then hit one paragraph of insanely juvenile trash.
And you know immediately without looking it up that it came from ESO.

They introduced a "forgotten" Daedric Prince and it is as lame and Mary-Sue ish as you can imagine.
I bought ESO at full price back whne it came out, thought it would really cool to go through some lore with friends, and I enjoyed MMO style gameplay. But it was lame then and it's lame now.

I've tried it a few times but it feels really... cheap, I guess? Like if a Chinese mobile studio made an Elder Scrolls Knockoff. The systems are there but they're incredibly shallow. It feels like a big world with a very disjointed story told through generic sidequests.

I really only hate the lore additions. The game is shit too, but so is all MMORPGs

Because the week i was no.1 on the leaderboard with Monster energy, we couldn't get all Fortresses like the Weeks before. I'd still play today

why hate MMOfags with shitty lore in a game not even made by Bethesda?

From an outsider's perspective

breaks established lore

plays nothing like elder scrolls titles

revolves around cash shop

From a veteran's perspective

pvp has been essentially abandoned for YEARS, even before One Tamriel

gear progression keeps shifting with each update. no one knows what long term goal to stick to so they drop the game

overworld content too easy to the point of tedium

base game content is irrelevant thanks to constant shifting of gear progression

the only skill-based "mechanic" is weaving (animation cancelling)

ESO is so devoid of challenge and mechanics that players begged ZOS to keep weaving in the game

overall very poor management

revolves around cash shop

This game was good in its first year when it was an actual sub based mmo. Then One Shitriel came out mixing all the console fags in and the crown shop came, killing the game.

Game is 10 years old, how are there still gaps

Thanks grok

That sounds awful. Especially the cash-shop. Most people would probably give it a chance despite its issues if it weren't for the cash-shop centrality.

Inventory is limited and is a terrible experience for crafters. The limitation urges players to subscribe since the subscription offers an unlimited inventory for crafting materials Along with monthly in-game credits you can use to purchase cosmetics or DLCs.
Some see it as a decent price but personally, the game isn't worth subbing to.

until a couple weeks ago, your average TES fan hadn't played anything outside of Skyrim

Because it's fanfiction shit that rewrites the entire history and lore of the franchise to whoever was in charge.

Bosmers no longer engage in ritual cannibalism after a rite of combat/dueling or feed the forest. Dey gudbois now and boring generic wood elves/hippies.

Khajiits are no longer merely gypsies who like skooma and moon sugar. They're Skooma addicts because they are all somehow cosmic warriors, self-projecting themselves to the moon fighting alien entities. So when you see a junkie skooma Khajiit in the street, just know that he is PROUD WARIOR fighting some cosmic battle somewhere.

etc

tfw my typing style when I try to type seriously has a lot in common with how AI types

How fucked am I going to be in the future?

Ask an AI to make your post not read like an AI

It's so ass they make everything so fucking gay, if that shit is canon then 100% of the mystery is gone

I like ESO because you can explore almost all of Tamriel but the combat is way too easy. There’s no challenge outside of veteran dungeons

It plays too similar to an mmo

because its pure garbage
horrible art direction
shitty combat
trash lore
theme park world
anybody who supported this garbage should be thrown into a volcano

shittiest combat imaginable even by mmo standards
i mean you have to animation cancle to beat content which looks like shit and they do absolutely nothing about it because the reddit nigger users throw a hissy fit every time you mention that broken mechanic because they think its skillfull to mash the attack button whicl mashing skill buttons. total fucking apes

They retconned the Ayleids from being evil slavelords.

ayleid.jpg - 1200x1200, 293.95K

ESO sucks and it's still the best Elder Scroll games by far.

90 epercent of questgivers are stronk independent womenz who dont need a man

there is absolutely zero end game content for casual play besides running vents which is so boring and brainless its an actual insult

the build variety is a joke even with their sets which is reduced to proc damage flat damage increase or resource management

i have only one good thing to say about this game and thats its graphics and that it runs on my potato pc

level scaling

in MMORPGs

sam-stare.gif - 220x124, 158.03K

its economy is also completely broken and bot invested so forget buying anything but the most basic bitch farmable sets

There are like 700 years between ESO and Oblivion, did the Mongol conquest make WW2 any less world-shaping?

Also Pre-ESO lore still had Dagon invading Morrowind at the end of the 1st era

make an oc donutsteel prince

give them Down's

I haven't played it but it seems kind of cool that you can traverse all of Tamriel
But I bet each area is just full of MMOslop

I feel your pain anon, I've had people say that about the way I type too

not all Ayleids were fags some helped the humans because not all were allied with each other

cheap ass lore, even worse than the dragonbreak stuff.
