ya it's microsoft game, they be do that
The Xbox version has 328 MB on disc. But it's unplayable unless you go online and download updates.
less plastic in the world is a good thing
Curious how nobody is raising a scandal out of this.
Where are the faggots who couldn't stop doomposting about Nintendo's game Key-Cards?
This is a shitty thing that happens once in a while. nintendo key cards seem to be the go-to for 99% of third parties. If you can't tell the difference you might be a complete fucking retard.
It's ok when snoy does it
Maybe because it's nothing new? Tony hawk pro skater 5 already did that decade ago. There's game here and there that actually requires download. Fairly rare, but it happens. I think there's some website where you can check if a game works without having to download anything
nintendo key cards seem to be the go-to for 99% of third parties
There are 4 (FOUR) games that are key card games that we know.
99%
Fuck this hyperbolic doomposting headcanon shit
It is normal for all console games. Get used to it.
Can you believe it? It takes FIVE DISKS to install Doom 2 on my PC.
Fucking woke fucking bullshit. I don't have the internet. It's 2025. I live in a mud hut. Waaaaaa!
There are far more confirmed key cards than 4. But Xbox and ps games have been pulling the same garbage for a lot longer. Hopefully down the road Nintendo offers more cartridge size options so devs can stop making excuses.
This is genuinely bullshit as it defeats the purpose of physical copy in the first place. You don't purchase one for a warning screen that tells you getting online is the only way to get your game. They literally wasted almost as many resources (from the Blu-ray disc through packaging to delivering) to get this shit made as it'd have taken to get the game on it.
I know this is not unprecedented and they'll able to get away with it due to some technicality (like having Internet connection on the requirements) but this is clear-cut BS. There should be some regulation that physical copies could only be sold with the entire game on them in a state where they can be played through and/or fully functional. Otherwise having a physical edition is pointless.

lol, literally every third party game is using key cards in Japan. In the west there are some exceptions like cyberpunk or demon ex machina, but almost every game is a key card
stop doomposting
what do you think this thread is about?
But they're still making the discs. Said discs are now just worthless space fillers.
Every time I hear anything about this game it just gets worse. 256GB storage requirement, RT required, slow gameplay, and now fake discs. At this point I am certain I will never play this game.
physical media is dead nintendo was the last one and even they sre going full jew now
Ok, legit question. Why 85MB then? That is way too large, shouldn't it only contain like a licence key and maybe a PNG, shouldn't be more than 2MB tops
It's too late for that
needs multiple pngs for different countries, maybe even gifs and some audio for sure
Anon, the game is a 100GB download. If I were to download it I really wouldn't have internet because it'd exceed my data limit two times over.
lololol no refunds u tard
let them eat cake: the video game
I'm more curious why does it happen?
I know in some cases the literally don't have the game ready when it goes to manufacturing but that can't be always the case.
They're already paying for the disc and cover. Does it cost 0.1 cents more if you print it full? Or is it to combat used games sales? Or what?
Indies need to start self publishing on CD. I did the math and it works out. It'd only cost about $1.65 per disk. That's including the cost of the box and transaction fees.
How'd they compress it so small?
What kind of shithole are you in that you have a 50GB data cap? This is in a third world country btw.
I don't know shit about how people crack games but maybe so that you wouldn't be able to rip game files from the disc?
If you always have to download it's easier for them to encrypt files with new algorithms
PHYSICALKEKS BTFO ONCE AGAIN HAHAHA
I think they just want to enshittify physical sales to the point where there's no advantage at all and even the most stubborn customers give up and go digital to skip the extra step of buying an empty fucking disc.
US flyover country. What country you live in doesn't matter nearly as much as whether you live in an urban or rural area. The only options for internet I have are satellite and mobile hotspot. Neither of which offer data limits above 100GB.
not super accurate since it includes data on your LAN
Even Limited Run "forever physical" is doing switch key cards. Don't be such a tool.
I'd be more of a tool if I bought and played any Limited Run slop tbqh
People shit on key cards on Switch but this is somehow worse. On top of it being the worst of digital and physical, it's fucking optical media on top

But that's the thing, in many countries all mobile plans come with unlimited data already.
Bruh
Buy it digitally in a sale and then you don't even need the disc.
Once again proving that the only games you can ever own are the ones you pirate.
acshually only games you can ever own are the ones you make by yourself or if you're richfag buy the rights to some games
