Why did they do it?

Why did they do it?

Do what? Make end game content difficult?

its only difficult if you dont interact with the shitty collectathon aspect (aka padding)

I can't wait for game journalists to lose their jobs en masse and be forced to work at low income neighborhood gas stations

Elden Ring base game was already Dark Souls 3.5 + jump button. They never actually played Dark Souls.

That was literally the only redeeming quality of sote

the dark souls of elden ring

Truly it is the dark souls of video games.

kek

SOTE's difficulty is shit because bosses aren't difficult, they're just punishing, i.e. the movesets aren't batshit crazy but in order to learn them you need to die 95385 times because how high the damage is

I hope the dark souls developers sue the elden ring developers... this is plagiarism...............

beat me to it

Soulslet here. Aren't those games from the same franchise?

They're not the same series but they are the same style of game by the same developers.

More importantly zoomers never played dark souls, so it's an "old game that's clunkyyyy ewwwww" and therefore it effectively doesn't exist.
That's how you get journos saying stupid shit like that

Elden ring is basically dark souls 3: open world edition
Its a lot faster paced than the first dark souls

loved Elden Ring, 400+ hours over four playthroughs

no interest in playing Shadow of the Erdtree

Everyone who loves ER seems to not like it, and I don't want to pay $30 for a DLC anyway

It's a vide games journalist. The likelihood of that being true is damn near 100%

... what?

I swear the rollslop insult got to them. I didnt even find it hard, it just wasn't dark souls without the rolling. Now I was a tank in a DPS race to proc.

Huh, I had the EXACT opposite experience.

Not a fan of having to collect powerups to be able to hang with the new enemies and bosses

I mean you do get your 30 worth. Worlds neat, story's good, bosses are a step backwards, and the ending is next level atrocious. I think that's worth 2 hours of minimal wage.

you're literally missing out on some of the best content they've ever made just because you don't feel like it, you're a retard
literally the only problem with the DLC is having to get through Mohg every time, on my level 1 no upgrades run I'm still having trouble with him

It has a great world and some good dungeons and gear and whatnot, it's just most bosses in it are trash

It's a massive mishmash of conflicting feelings for me, I'm not sure I care for the direction of the bosses, level design is a lot more focused/dense in the DLC though, feels like they were smarter about filling up the map with this while still allowing for beautiful vistas.

It's 30$ but it's as big as a normal game + the art is amazing, the interconnected map too and it has better bosses than the base game

Elden Ring is harder than souls.
t. Never summon, use meta, or shields

This is the definition of cope. You are seriously missing out if you actually love Elden Ring. The DLC felt like playing Elden Ring for the first time again.

this headline is genius, it's perfectly engineered to bait. better than the shit I see here now, what a sad state of affairs for this place

the entire dlc actually makes elden ring worse, it just feels lesser and worse like it was made by a B team or interns.

Honestly the map was one of my bigger piss offs. I hated the condensed clusterfuck. Seeing something but not knowing how to get there needs to fucking die in videogames, just like bullet sponges.
Takes away all immersion for unneeded frustration. As a human that would never happen to you.

That's not even remotely true

It was beautiful and the prisons were neat. I also enjoyed the Marika lore, and the Rhino boss.

Seeing something but not knowing how to get there needs to fucking die

People like you are ruining this hobby

Bullshit

you just have shit taste thats why you love shit

Why 165?

The sidequest shit is even worse in the DLC you can blow it just by getting too close to an area that the game deems to advance their storylines without you knowing.

shit taste havers crying at me wont change that the dlc is shit

Honestly, I got tired of Elden Ring once every boss fight turned into

Boss does a 20-hit nonstop combo with mixed timing

Pauses for 2 seconds so you can slap the boss one

Repeat, with the occasional massive multi-hit AOE

They should give bosses a maximum stamina bar, and slowly decrease it as the fight goes on. I want to actually feel like the boss is getting more and more tired the longer we duke it out.

I would be lying if I said I never got frustrated or stuck on it at times, though in general I do kind of like the puzzle of traversing a map, seeing a distant location and wondering how to get there is something I enjoy puzzling out. In that sense it felt more like Dark Souls to me than a lot of base Elden Ring did.

I didn't even mention what I like or dislike about the DLC. You're just a disingenuous contrarian
Good range for multiplayer

I quite like the DLC's world, wish the base game was more like it. biggest problem was the continued escalation of souls boss design, feels like fromsoft is more concerned with the arms race between players and the boss encounters than making enjoyable fights.

samesies

Or you just giganigga tank through all of them, which is nice to have as an option, but I would have preferred a bit more of a middle ground

I've always wanted this too, though based on damage. Instead it's the opposite.

seeing a distant location and wondering how to get there is something I enjoy puzzling out. In that sense it felt more like Dark Souls to me than a lot of base Elden Ring did.

Exactly. The DLC map is better than the base game in that way.

this difficulty spike is what happens when you inject a considerably easier game into a provably harder one

???

When it's a puzzel like Volcano manor I get it, it's the why did you try you should of just kept going that kills me ie Witchy wife's manor.

feels like fromsoft is more concerned with the arms race between players and the boss encounters than making enjoyable fights.

i...its actually good b..but ok you are right here is the thing that makes it actually shit

as i said you are all shit taste havers who play something despite it being by your own account shit (no you writing that you played it despite that doesnt make it suddenly good)
you have shit taste and play shit and then bitch at me for calling it rightfully SHIT

you are shit taste havers and defend shit

Remember when these games were celebrated for not doing that? I hope Tanimura has a horrible, horrible death.

that is also why is said it feels like it was made by B team/ interns, because thats what it feels like, it feels like it was made by the same retards that made dark souls scholar of the first sin and its dlc. SHIT

Yeah, it's stuff like that where the open world aspect of the game doesn't play nice with that kind of traversal puzzle, when things are just slightly too muddy and unclear to know whether you're just wasting your time. And the DLC has some rough spots where you can just get locked out of progressing if you miss a dumb little sidetrail somewhere and you can be left wandering around for hours on end.

Are you OK?
ER fans are fucking weird!

oh you don't like every aspect of a thing? IT'S SHIT AND YOU SHOULD HATE IT REEEEEEEEEE

I'm sorry you're so starved for human interaction you must act like a clown for attention

Seriously, what was that? Only Sekiro/ER threads.

What the fuck are you babbling about, schizo? You can like something and still acknowledge its faults. You aren't even here to articulate any point or have a discussion. You're just a sub 80 IQ brownoid foaming at the mouth repeating the same thing over and over.

you are shit taste havers and defend shit

you're going to end up like eric

whats an eric? the schizoid ghost you see when you pop a bloodvessel in your head when someone disagrees with your shit taste about toy?

so not only do you shit taste havers have shit taste you are also stupid and cant cant read/understand simple arguments and sentences

elden ring sucks ass btw, worst modern from title by far

Games journalism is not a profession anymore it's a hobby

what the fuck is that headline even supposed to mean

ESL

favela monkey or street shitter?

more incoherent seething

i thought elden ring was just dark souls but open world

What is it with jeets and poop?

all the ways you can complain about that DLC and journos still resort to AI generated clickbait

shit taste havers still crying at me because i disagree with them about a shit toy they like (because they have shit taste)

the fuck? Miyazaki started this trend with Bloodborne

Elden Ring is the Sekiro of Dark Souls

Came for this

gamer prank show

target thinks he's playing elden ring dlc

is actually dark souls injected into elden ring

just fuck your build and get 99 vigor and wear veteran set

no

concept of good bait so foreign to you you think it's AI

that headline is so stupid it literally has to be AI

casuals must suffer

still doesn't understand how online outrage "journalism" functions in the year of our lord 2025

no. it's like asking if dmc5 and re2 are the same game.

we made it so you need to roll some more before you can attack

WOW

he isn't using the deflecting hardtear and a shield

people here so braindead they complain about needing to roll in an expansion that's given us the best alternative to rolling in the entire soulsborne franchise history

You don't even need the shield. Also Consort Radahn is really fun with deflecting hardtear, I was prepared to think the fight is gay because I thought it being Radahn was lame but I ended up really having fun.

I went a full tank build, took the ring that gave me more aggro and the black knight greatshield and farmed the Putrescent Knight in co-op. people are REALLY bad at that fight, I swear hosts would die like 75% of the time to his unmounted sequence

dlc is easy if you find all of the shards (expect for the final boss). you can get like lvl 10+ before the first boss

No. This is what happens when you have dogshit combat for your character that's balanced around PVP, while PVE is playing a completely different game. Souls games are overrated dog shit except for Demon's souls(not the remake).

Dark Souls has one difficult fight, Ornstein and Smough, but if I can beat it without summoning then anyone can.

BUBBA THIS GAME REAL HARD BUBBA

Having gone back to the first Dark Souls, it astounds me that a 200 damage hit in that game is a significant amount of damage, but in Elden Ring 200 damage is effectively like trying to smell a fart 2 miles downwind of you

Shadow of the Erdtree is the Dark Souls of eldenlikes

Most of the DLC is pretty good but the final boss sucks so hard. What a letdown. Now there's no reason for me to play half the DLC again with it all leading to the gay brothers.

Elden ring is the dark souls of elden ring.
