ITT games where the villain kinda had a point

ITT games where the villain kinda had a point.

clair_obscur.jpg - 2160x2160, 1.44M

who's the villain?

Aline?

Everyone in the Dessendre family
And everyone had a point

Everyone had a point from their POV and morality standards which consider the annihilation of a universe of sapient life to be as irrelevant and amoral as spraying bugspray on ants.

create millions of sentient beings

then destroy them for the sake of a few fags

Yeah no thanks
The painted world they created > their gay family affair

This, fuck the demiurge and their projections. Any ending that maximizes the suffering of the Dessendres is moral and justified.

IDK why they made Maelle torture Verso in the ending against his explicit wishes. I mean sure, it's hilarious, but what the fuck man. Would've been a fine ending otherwise.

Elden Ring

the more I think about and rewatch the plot, the more of a disappointing cluster fuck it becomes.
It's actually pretty fucking stupid.
This is not the game that was advertised to me. I was promised an action adventure game set in an apocalyptic world.
this family drama is goddamn pathetic.

It's a character focused story, not a lore dump. If you think too hard about the mechanics of the world, none of it really makes sense because it's not the focus of the story here.

Every horde player knows

This is not the game that was advertised to me. I was promised an action adventure game set in an apocalyptic world.

this family drama is goddamn pathetic.

then you are retarded. the opening half hour is literally just pathetic family drama, even the side-quests are dumb shit like you helping a father give his uniform to his son because they're being insanely petty enough to not be talking at this extremely important moment.

what was advertised to you, from the moment you started the game, was a pathetic family drama

What are weebs sperging out about this game?

He gaslit and emotionally exploited the best girl Lune, then most likely took her virginity, destroyed her hopes and dreams and then decided to sacrifice her for his own peace of mind.
He deserves the worse fate than that, the lying, manipulative faggot. I swear to God, I can't recall ever hating a protagonist as much as I hated Verso by the end of Act 3. Even James Sunderland was more sympathetic than him.

hey verso what's your biggest dream after this is over

to play music at the opera again

awwww how sweet I want your first concert to be for me :)

WAIT WAIT WAIT MAELLE YOU BITCH I ACTUALLY WANTED TO DIE AAIIIIIIEEEEEEE

watch the fucking reveal trailer again.
it's "kino". but the final product is so much worse.

and yeah I skipped most of that shit because it was so boring and I just wanted to play the game.
the cheap bethesda dialogue scenes look fucking terrible too I hated most of the opening.

It's almost as if you keep chronically lying to other people's faces, they will interpret your lies as truths.

because this is a game where you play as the villain

He also did the same thing to Julie lmao

youtu.be/tC-ol6xY5zQ?t=120
I'm happy that nu-Blizzard still decided to give him a good ending though, I fully expected them to make him cry and regret what he did

then most likely took her virginity

SHE'S 32!
she's older than me!
she's also hot so she probably lost it at 14 in highschool.

She was actually homeschooled by her parents. She's as sheltered as it gets.

This game would be so fucking funny if aline was fat

She was actually homeschooled

I maintain that she probably lost her virginity at school.

Any WWII Call of Duty/Metal of Honor/Battlefield

play the fucking piano Verson, you lying twat!

unironically he had it coming, for me its best ending, forcing him to play the piano is truly poetic

Basically everyone in the family is a cunt. There was no need to vandalize Verso's painting.

Isn't there an alternate timeline where he turns out to be the greatest champion of the Light?

I'll say this for Garrosh: He wasn't Sylvanas.

brings up the demiurge to justify an ending that would make actual gnostics seethe

its about escaping the simulation at all costs

Verso himself was too good for them all, Clea is a cunt as well but at least she's a cunt who isn't delusionally obsessed about the damn painting.

This game truly grasps the essence of why the French are unhinged.

Are you braindead, the only reason Maelle won’t leave this canvas is because Verso’s soul is in it. What do you mean what’s the point??
What’s the point of her staying in it without him?

Go watch Avengers or something you braindead zoomer

they're probably retarded enough to think that this scene makes him look lame. apparently they handed it off to some low-level guy(s?) to do on his own, which is why it's so obviously low-effort, but probably also why it manages to not be the cringe garbage it would've been in the main writers did it

Verso's whole thing is that he's lying to everyone all the time. It's why his Axon's entire island was misdirection. Alicia just doesn't understand her family, probably because she's stupid.

What’s the point of her staying in it without him?

Build up Lumiere and repaint all the erased people? She brought back Gustave, Sophie, Sciel's husband and the kids. She could've just respected Verso's wish of I DON'T WANT THIS LIFE I DON'T WANT THIS LIFE SOMEONE HELP ME PLEASE

She brought back

She made clones based on them and their memories.

cool character does a cool thing

it's cool

Why can't writers handle this very basic truth?

What are you talking about? Lumiere with everyone in it are all Aline’s creation, she can make another canvas like that which is not on top of already existing Verso canvas. None of those people matter they’re not Verso’s creations, their creator is actually alive and can repaint them whenever.
The entire struggle is about Verso

Lumiere with everyone in it are all Aline’s creation

That is not true. Lumiere, grandis, gestrals etc all existed before the fracture.

Lumerians are never stated to be Verso's creations, he only created Gestrals, Esquie and Grandis

Yes, after real Verso’s death Aline went into the canvas and painted lumiere with everyone in it including the fake family, lived there for god knows how long, and then Renoir came to force her out of the canvas, that conflict caused the fracture
Basic plot points completely lost some players

No, in fact Aline is stated to have been the one who painted lumiere by Verso himself

stupid

face all fucked up

can't even speak, Clea seems to talk to her in telepathy or some shit

You know, Alicia would have a point about there being no point to living if it wasn't for the fact that she CAN paint.

Just go back to Monoco's station and talk to the cultured rock golems, they tell you everything. Grandis, gestrals and Lumerians lived together in peace before the fracture, there were train roads everywhere (because Verso loved his toy train) etc

Are you an actual imbecile? Did you even read the post you’re responding to?
What do you think the fracture is? Verso dying?
Yes all of them coexisted before fracture, because fracture happened after Aline painting lumiere and the fake family

She could have brought them back from the chroma, they weren't killed by nevrons

Verso

>loves trains

>loves his Esquie

>loves his Monaco (dog)

>'ates Wriggers (not racist, just doesn't like 'em)

>pathological liar

>loves his family

And people say he's evil.

Aline created Lumiere >100 years ago, fracture was 67 years ago

It's the opposite, anon. Anyone killed by Nevrons she can bring back because the chroma's locked and slowly decays.
She can't actually bring back the others unless she grabs their chroma immediately after death like she did Sciel and Lune.

no

Verso is such a pathological liar his father portrays him as a knight made out of different masks

That chroma is Aline’s, Aline can repaint everyone in lumiere. They don’t matter.

tfw the "I still like trains" line by Verso is not a meme reference but foreshadowing

Sciel and Lune say multiple times they can feel Gustave's chroma after his death. The "must grab immediately" thing is just headcanon. The chroma is still in the canvas.

Even after canvas is gone the people in lumiere can be repainted, you don’t need the chroma when you have the source - Aline

Aline could create the OG lumerians again, but it would be like gestral reincarnation, factory default.
Aline can't recreate anyone in present day lumiere, she did not paint any of them. They were all born because Aline created real people that could reproduce.

One element I feel is missing is the extent to which time flows in the real world.
How long has been it even been since Verso died and Aline entered his canvas?
It feels like it should be recent, given the house is still under reconstruction.

Aline has been in the canvas for 2-3 days at most, anything else is a certain death.

Not true, she painted virtually all them, she was painting the kids too. As we saw that when Alicia through Aline’s chroma was painted into the world, Clea said that she’s about to be born as one of Aline’s creations, Maelle that is was Aline’s creation

retard

He really grew on me, such a disingenuous manipulative fucker but he's so straightforward in his motivations despite that.

What do you think the fracture is? Verso dying?

The fracture was caused by Aline and Renoir fighting in the painting. But Lumiere existed way before that. Honestly no idea what you're trying to argue here.

Pretty sure their real bodies stop aging when they're inside the painting.

Lumiere probably existed for ~40 years before the fracture.

Yeah i can tell, because you’re dumb as a brick.
Yea Aline painted lumiere way before the fracture. Now read your original post Where you argue that lumiere cannot be Aline’s creation because it existed before the fracture
Use your brain before writing posts, will save you and everyone around you a lot of time

It's wasn't 67 years on the outside. Otherwise Clea would be very old.

That poster is correct, those years in canvas are weeks tops outside.

I mean, we're kinda arguing past each other. Lumiere was a thing from the beginning, but Aline continued adding onto it.

Also, no reason to be so hostile, sure it's an anonymous board, but you don't have to be an ass to fit in.

Lumiere was a thing from the beginning

source? I'm pretty sure Aline made the whole thing

No, lumiere was painted by Aline, there was no lumiere before, Verso’s soul literally comments on that. And Renoir is stated to be gommaging specifically Aline’s creations, as her power was growing weaker he could gommage oldest of her creations, he wasn’t doing that to gestrals and etc. This entire gommage business was all about slowly weakening and ultimately removing Aline from the canvas.
Furthermore this entire canvas for Verso was a place to have an adventure with fantastical creatures, not to live with fake humans.

As for me being an ass, i am not being an ass by actually responding to your points, you are being one by mindlessly repeating your line without even reading what your interlocutor is saying

I'm a habitual F12 spammer and I have the receipts for most of the story moments.

Yeah lumiere is verso’s hometown…

retard
yes they live in lumiere IRL, that doesn't mean verso made a copy of lumiere in the canvas
look at what we know verso painted and compare it to lumiere, it's wildly different and far less detailed
very obvious aline made lumiere

Isn't it literally Paris IRL? It's got the Eiffel tower right outside Alicia's bedroom window. I always thought Lumiere was just a painted version of Paris that Verso (and later on Aline) made as a fairytale world.

Here's the real question: How much, if at all, do Painter/Writer abilities translate to the real world? I was under the impression they're basically just normal people who happen to be able to make magical paintings (presumably why the real Verso died to a normal fire instead of just doing a gradient counter on it), but I'm not sure how diegetic the part where Clea is talking to Alicia is and Alicia can't say words so Clea seemingly reads her mind is supposed to be.

...I mean, Paris IRL doesn't have roving bands of writers warring with painters in the streets. It has other violent social problems but they don't really have anything to do with posh well-off artists.

It says Paris when you try to leave the manor in the Alicia epilogue

Shit I didn't even think to try, can't argue with that.

No, Alica says that she has childhood memories of two lumieres now. But nevermind that, since your issue is the lack of receipts, here him saying this place was painted by “her”
youtube.com/watch?v=rIG8Te8YVJ4&t=2139s

The Architect

Renoir creates worlds inside the canvas

Was Sandfall in on the joke?

Huh? This is unrelated, I interpreted this part as Verso being annoyed about Aline forcing him to paint as he was more into music, despite being born into a family of painters.

Could also be about Aline forcing his soul to continue painting the canvas though. Up to your interpretation I guess.

It does, but Alicia herself still says two lumieres, it’s fundamentally irrelevant because it’s the same place, Aline tried to replicate her hometown along with her family. Lumiere might be a specific part in paris or just a different name for it, it doesn’t matter, the hometown verso is referring to is the real life version regardless

It's not 1:1 in the timescale. Presumably 1 day = 1 year. So Renoir was inside 67 days, Aline closer to a 100, and Alicia 16

Don't mind me. Just dropping the blackpill.
The Painters live in a simulation themselves. Most probably created by the Writers.

but no the 33 on the grave doesn't mean anything! it's an alternate world!

No retard. The city is literally called Paris. As stated by the game.
The Painters believe they live in the real world. BUT they do not.

71817271.jpg - 943x1744, 245.51K

What are you talking about. He’s literally saying “Isn’t it beautiful here… her paintings are always astonishing”
He is specifically referring to lumiere as painted by her

What the fuck drives a writer to be this fucking spiteful? Are the Writers shitposters?

I went to your time stamp and it was the shade that said "she doesn't understand what it means for me to paint".

If Clea created the nevrons as a way to support Renoir and turn the tide against Aline... then why do the nevrons instinctively attack the expeditioners if their whole goal is to stop Aline? Is it because the expeditioners are Aline's creations? Why would painted Renoir and Verso even go on the first expedition to stop the Paintress if they're her creation??

Fixed Medalum third Lumina doubling all damage in Virtuose Stance instead of doubling only Burn damage.

Stendhal: Reduced damage by 40%.

Didn't know Medalum itself was also bugged that's hilarious.

The Painters believe they live in the real world. BUT they do not.

I hope this is true and the story continues with the Dessendre family so we can see Clea's cope.

Where the fuck is Clea and what level do I need to be for that story arc?

I'm level 66 at Frozen Hearts now, only did the party member quests + ending.

Flying Manor, look for the busted manor with rocks floating around it near the starting contingent. I'd recommend being like level 80 desu, she's tough. Very tough. I'd hate to be forced to eat her pussy.

Nevrons serve to kill expeditioners and prevent their chroma from returning to the paintress. It's why they don't gommage when they die.

he's a hero in every timeline except the one the game takes place in, the bronze dragons specifically state it

the way she was helping Renoir was having the Nevrons kill Expeditioners to seal their chroma from returning to Aline.

Why would painted Renoir and Verso even go on the first expedition to stop the Paintress if they're her creation??

they went to save/help Aline. It's in Verso's journal entry. At this point Painted Renoir and Verso are still working together to keep their family together.

Yeah the more I think about it the more I side with Alicia and see her sacrifice as noble, obvious bad ending cinematography be damned.

It skipped for you few seconds then. Regardless you i’m sure you went few secs back and saw what i was referring to correct?

Honestly, I want there to be a path where the canvas is left untouched and Alicia just takes a hit and returns to the real world promising to never return to appease Renoir...

But the way Alicia spoke about the world, you just know she's down the same slippery slope as Aline... SAD!

her sacrifice

she did it for herself. she spells this out pretty much literally right before she goes into the painting the first time even.

The only two people in this story who were wrong about anything are the two who get to choose the ending. Everyone else acts in a fully understandable, reasonable way at all times. Except Clea whose reaction to her brother dying was to turn into an actual psycho bitch.

Isn’t really a proof of anything, in their universe dec has at least 33 days, no big deal

This game made me think. Would I do the same if that was 'real' thing? Would I go on an expedition, knowing well that I will probably fail / be killed, and hope that I might discover something that will help the people in the following expedition?

Probably not.

i pity them, those who know not that they are not

damn, you're probably right

Yeah but that would be a perfect happy ending, and there would be no discussion or emotions. Can't really have that in a melodramatic game like this. See the Nier games for another example.

FUCK P*INTERS

scratch.jpg - 1280x720, 36.41K

So what are writers going to do to Clea…. Bros….

sure you would want to but that doesn't make it healthy or right, it's just a suicide booth

new game plus is kino

Painters leave a piece of their souls in every canvas they Paint

Literally depleting their entire essence and being in every canvas

Destroying a canvas is fully destroying that part of themselves

Painting as far as we can tell is only recreational and artistic, no character ever says more than that and the Paintings themselves are entertaining, enrapturing, full of potential, addicting etc.

Painters are essentially drug addicts. Aline saved Renoir once before, he saves her in the game and Alicia can potentially end up consumed by it too.

I mean, if it was the last year of your life, might as well check out wtf is out there. Don't even have do the fighting, you could be the expedition's cook or whatever, just like the real life military, not everyone is a marine.

Alicia needs to take the path of vengence, like her sister

Clea is the one who makes most sense, she just wants this shit over with. Okay, maybe what she did to Painted Clea was fucked. I guess her not having a shred of empathy for Alicia being reborn in the painting was pretty messed up too. And that thousand yard stare is pretty creepy too, but you know, she's just goal-oriented

There is a chance Alicia is fully responsible. Loads of books in her room and a typewriter. It might be the Writers got to her or she tried Writing and fucked up big time.

What is the harm in letting the world subsist? This isn't like FFTA's scenario where people were locked in it against their will and forced into a child's godhood whims (like his bullies being made into monsters to be killed). They created a world and and life and decided to destroy it on a whim.

as long as the painting exists Renoir has to worry about Aline going back to it and losing herself again, it's like leaving a giant bag of heroin around and trusting a junkie not to touch it

She obviously lost her virginity to her daddy.

Because the canvas existing does not allow the family to fully grieve and get over Verso's death if there's always a way to be connected with a part of his soul.

Even at the act of Act III, you can tell Alicia was going down the same path as Aline, talking about wanting to live in HER world (in reference to the canvas), which obviously triggered Renoir. A painter can become lost to a canvas, which is why Renoir wanted to pull Aline out before it was too late... and the same would happen to Alicia because she is committed to staying.

Verso is unwilling. Alicia will further lose herself if not outright die. For the Painters, Verso's canvas has to be destroyed if they are to heal and move on from his death. It of course means erasing everything in it and all of its inhabitants.

I’m absolutely behind this idea. Why else would they have a mansion and graveyard facing the effile tower at a perfect right angle? Its also good because it de-elevates the importance of saving Alicia over lumiere. They’re all just “fictional” characters on equal terms and of equal value.

They can just lock it away, hide it, or control his fuckin woman.

One family's issue is not worth destroying an existing world and life. I GET why they want to but it's inherently a heinous goal.

Even if they are fictional, they’re not equally fictional, as the other fiction exists as fiction within that fiction.
But yet again, 33 of december or Verso’s grave being anywhere, doesn’t prove anything

And then you find out the Writers have a greater overarching conflict where they too are in a simulation against their creators, the "Developers", the actual Expedition 33 development team. The last game will have you going around actually killing the dev team in game to end the vicious cycle.

The ending is just full on drama that barely makes any sense. Clea hid the god damn panting after you expel Aline, and Aline still somehow ZOOMS in during the final battle to help you beat Renoir. This is literally never explained.

But once Verso started making that face watching his mother in pain, I immediately knew where they were going with this story. Still picked Maelle though, because I'm not killing everyone in the game I just spent 60 hours on. Alicia is also better off like this than what awaits her outside. And the lying fuck should just play the damn piano.

European videogame

focusses on art(painting/writing) as a driving force of its videogame world

Heh.

Its a floating island near and above the yellow forests by the gestrals.

maybe what she did to Painted Clea was fucked

idk think of it from her pov.

grow up having wacky adventures in brother's painted world with him

brother fucking dies and mom co-opts it and fills it a painted version of all of your family+other humans to live amongst

painted version of you is some asshole expeditioner who is playing grab ass with some guy despite knowing the truth of things

i bet painted clea said something snide to the real thing also. probably what made her try to kill them all at the monolith like Verso mentioned.

Herself AND the people of lumiere. Its both, yes she’s selfish, but you can be selfish in helping others that matter to you.

Multiple people said that she will find it regardless you stupid maellefag

Its an inevitable discussion whenever worlds within worlds show up. Who is to say it isn't a painting within a painting?

Aline will find it no matter where they hide it. The temptation is too great for her and Alicia. Yes the endings are cruel, some of the cast lose out no matter what you pick.

Clea loves Gustave more than Maelle

They created this world and thus have a responsibility over its destiny. If they need to end it for the good of their family they have every right to do so as creators, as wrong as it is.
But the true horror of this family is their ability to create sentient beings and fully autonomous world and doing so so lightly (i think Renoir mentions hundred of canvas). If i had this ability I don't know if I could bring myself to use it.

If my life had an absolute irrefutable expiration date, I would. Especially around 30, a person feels very capable and strong at that age. I wish I could have stayed 33 forever.

True but consider that Aline is gone and comes back not long after to stop Renoir. In terms of real world time she likely woke up back home and jumped right back in.

Then the other one is a painting within a painting within a painting, regardless original world of Alicia has a priority over the canvas

For those who cum after

Verso cums inside the whole party

how did Gustavo know

Never deepthroat a fire elemental, no matter how good the writing is.

Yeah but how much time passed in camvas we cannot be sure, there are several cuts and etc

There are FLACs for all soundtracks on rutracker. No "Our Painted Family" (manor track) though.

Untitled.png - 355x145, 2.81K

Some time did pass between defeating the Paintress and confronting Renoir since they had to go and collect chroma from all the expeditioners killed by nevrons. That being said if I had to guess the canvas was just hidden inside another canvas maybe since seemingly since Alicia hid it herself.

I really hope they will continue making turned based rpgs in the future

I'd rather they try something else. If 33 took them 5 years it'll be just as long for the next game. Take that time to do something new, most likely a full action game. Bunch of the devs have Elden Ring as one of their favourites and the director has DMC and we can clearly see the influence of those games in 33.

I would seek justice against those who have wronged me.

Alicia is a fucking weak bitch

Would be pretty hilarious. Alicia runs into Jen English and kills her. Some comment is made about her not being needed anymore because Alicia is mute.

Renoir was not right for letting his wife get that fat

Let’s not provoke the writers, god knows what they will do…

So the axons were created by Renoir and he based Visages off Verso (this one's obvious though) and Sirene off his wife Aline. I guess he really was in love with her then, because the song is just 100% praise and infatuation.

Fucking French people know how to be romantic.

Both ending have shit parts but yeah for whatever reason they had to make it clear shit between Maelle and Verso was bad

Based

Clea hid the god damn panting after you expel Aline

Anon...

Honestly Renoir should have just ditched Aline instead of destroying last sliver of Verso’s soul. And went for younger hotter chicks
Aline is an ugly hag. Plenty of young hot chicks to birth him new sons

Look guys a world where painters can make whole worlds in a canvas must be real!!

chad gustave

lose his arm

creates technology to fuck up the paintress

gets a hi tech arm to punch her painted face

virgin alicia

face is burned, looks ugly

the world is so cruel

i want to live inside my fantasy where nothing bad ever happens

No wonder she was in love with Gustave

IMG_4556.gif - 200x227, 428.88K

that's what I'm fucking saying. Renoir is fucking HOT and RICH. Just move on from your shit family like every other rich guy.

Killing everyone was the easiest decision I ever made. It also felt good uninstalling the game and erasing the Desendre family afterward :)

DESU they've probably spent thousands of years together, not something that you're going to be able to recreate.

Hey Renoir. Get Aline back in her and bring Clea too. Then you four can sit down and talk this out and then leave. We'll all be happy and you'll all heal and move on from your grief.

How come no one tried this?

He would never ditch the woman who saved his life to die when he can help her

the bloons did nothing wrong.

monkey-6.jpg - 2000x1000, 262.69K

You know that scene of Gustave's sister saying he should stay and could accomplish good work there with his last year wasn't an understatement I think. Dude inventing the lumina converter singlehandedly let them succeed at something they failed at for a century.

>face is burned, looks ugly

You look ugly.

Alicia.jpg - 3840x2160, 1M

Aline is an ugly hag

at the end of act 3

go do side content I missed

characters act as if they were still in act 1 or 2 and don't know what the paintress is

Start battle in Frozen Hearts

this is the battle theme youtube.com/watch?v=P4UWJZFyp7w

I came here to fight, not feel

Because Renoir is a dumbass forcing his family to do what he wants, he cant trust his own shadow

At least with the true real ending(by siding with Verso) Alicia can be inspired by Gustave in spite of her burning injuries just like him in spite of his lack of second arm.

You must move on Alicia!

But we aren't gonna until we kill everyone in here, fuck you

This is evidence that they don't have souls and truly are scripted NPCs. ERASE THEM! TOMORROW (DOES NOT) COME (FOR LUNE)

inventing the lumina converter singlehandedly let them succeed at something they failed at for a century

Which was?

Why didn't she get a glass eye? Wouldn't be too bad with it.

Blame Aline and Alicia lack of self control.

Just like some people can drink alcohol moderately there are retards who cannot be trusted to drink alcohol

I just wanna see Clea naked, is it really so much to ask?

You and your mother must stop huffing paint from your brother's decaying soul canvas!

NO!!! YOU'RE TRYING TO DESTROY THE SOURCE OF MY PAINT HUFFING MY FWIENS ARE HERE!!!

Grow up, addict.

the lumina converter lets them utilize the chroma from nevrons they kill. it's why the party can level up and equip more pictos. no other expedition had this technology, so E33 are actually just strong as hell compared to everyone else that came before.

Aline's paints her ideal perfect version of her family

Alicia is still burned and traumatized

fuck that bitch

How did you miss this? Its on the main path. You can't miss it.

No, I blame everyone. Maybe send your wife to a clinic, or lock her in a room, or actually talk to her.
According to Clea they didn't even try any of the steps before just Kaiju battles and melodrama.
So you know what? They all get the blame. And if your retarded women and to die in their paintings maybe just let them do it.

Why did Maelle kill Alicia in front of Verso without even giving him a chance to say goodbye?

Why did Verso kill everyone in Lumiere?

She didn't fly so good...

Because Alicia literally asked her to do it in the same cutscene. Did you play the game?

No one in lumiere matters, himself included. Aline can always just repaint them

I disagree and so Verso gets the piano.

Maelle knows exactly how painted Alicia feels and sees it as doing what is best for her. Forgetting to consider other peoples' thoughts and emotions alongside her own is her ultimate flaw, and it's also paint Verso's.

she was in a situation where she had absolute control of the outcome for the first time in her life so she did it for herselves.

Because it was the right thing to do. Same as Maelle with Alicia.

I love Clea

You know how you get a new pictos when you beat an enemy for the first time? That's supposed to be them using the lumina converter on the Nevrons. The other expeditions didn't have those pictos

Shitty programing, if you go to the top of the monolith after beating the paintress they repeat the same dialogue you get before beating her

Yeah but she could've waited a hot second? Her brother was literally right there.

It's one of the white nevrons' fetch quests

Do I really want to beat that mime 5 times with everyone solo to just get bald haircuts for everyone? Is there anything else you get or was "The One" picto from doing it the first time the only draw?

Yeah, and he is on the main path.

it kinda felt like they were saying I should stop being addicted to video games and go outside

Pretty sure Alicia wanted to die in front of him as a fuck you for him destroying her world and killing her parents. You know, that small detail.

They are saying you should enjoy video games and it's right to find great joy and inspiration in them, but don't do it in a way that hurts your relationships with your friends and loved ones.

IRL Paris is also called Ville Lumiere

Aline is an ugly bitch
Alicia is an ugly bitch
Clea, Renoir and Verso are based

I want to eat out Clea!

it's why the party can level up and equip more pictos

No, it has nothing to do with levels (consider characters outside Gustave being leveled even before they get access to the lumina converter through him). It just converts the picto effects into lumina.

E33 are actually just strong as hell compared to everyone else that came before

They couldn't even pierce the barrier without godly intervention. E60 was more powerful.

It's called Lumina converter, not Picto converter.

can't fight any of the giant mountain eating nevrons

fucks up with that

I thought it was mostly the whole Pictos to Lumina conversion thing that was new; being able to equip a ton of Luminas. Expedition Journal 41 talks about how others were limited in the amount of Pictos they could equip without stuff getting unstable.

file.png - 878x210, 165.1K

They chill

I feel like some things just got cut like Sciel's personal quest. There's none. Even Esquie got one.

I think it's both creating pictos from nevrons, and converting pictos to lumina.
Gustave truly the MVP.

The passive effects are called Lumina the game even explains this by saying that pictos have lumina. All that really changes is that what the lumina converter is applying the lumina to a new pictos. It's still you getting the ability after you kill an enemy

Nah those things are stated to just eat the world trying to destroy it

Timeline is as follow

child Verso paints gestrals, grandis, Esquie, Monoco

Clea adds Sprong, Francois and other creatures

adult Verso dies in fire

Aline goes to Verso's canvas and paints fake Lumiere with fake people and fake family to live her fantasy where everything is fine

Renoire goes to canvas and fights Aline, fracture happens, and they are at stalemate, nearly at the same time Clea paints nevrons and paints over painted Clea to make her draw more nevrons

Someone be a bro and post naked Clea

The faceless boy you run into repeatedly during the story is remnants of real VERSO's soul! Now it makes sense!

Shut up, Marche.

Yeah and it’s only revealed in Verso’s ending

well whatever they meant, it sure made me feel silly about playing this for 50 hours and postponing tasks haha :)))))

Everyone is a villain in this story. Except painted people of fake Lumiere, they are victims of irresponsible egotistical demiurge who had a woman moment.
TOTAL PAINTER DEATH

It was pretty much spelled out during the Monolith scenes, especially the "this is my train, my mom bought it for me" one.

Maybe they only explicitly say it in his ending. But it is pretty obvious in the scene right before regardless.

Are you stupid

Eye socket pussy.

Clea can't be a villain, because she's my future Paintress wife!

Verso's ending is the true good one

Verso gets closure and finally dies

Alicia is out of the painting and apparently got past her trauma

whole family reunited

if anything, they can just repaint a lot of shit that was too comfy to delete fully on a brand new canvas that isn't completely fucked up by the family drama

What did he eat during all that time?

No, no matter much you theorize. A reveal is an explicit confirmation. And it was only revealed in Verso’s ending.

Because Verso did the same thing to her with Gustave and she's getting revenge.

It's a painting faggot, they're not real.

Easy to convince yourself something is only good if you turn a blind eye to everything bad about it. I thought Maelle was the one burying her head in the sand.

Clea

M8, that's Sophie

Clea SEQUEL

Clea Protag!

Funeral was probably not even a week later, she will move on.

if a character doesn't explicitly say something it is not a reveal

Maybe Verso was happy playing the piano in Maelle's ending. After all we never hear him say that he doesn't like it

I thought Maelle was the one burying her head in the sand.

She absolutely was, and is only getting that head out in the Verso ending. In her ending, she keeps her head in the sand forever.
The only "people" who are victims in the end were simply their own creations who, ultimately, were not real. Just toys they poured some character into, but still, they had pretty much full control over them when they wanted to. You just delete them and move onto the real life where you have actual, real problems and not constant family drama.

Verso gets closure and finally dies

Verso doesn't deserve closure after what he did.

Game says she is the most talented painter second only to her mom

She's gonna make pre-nerf Stendhal look like a joke

What's up with the multiple-hour OST being incomplete anyway?

people with thoughts and feelings are not real

you're American aren't you

Which is what exactly? Die while trying to protect his little sister?
Remember anon, the Verso you're playing as is not Verso, it's a small part of a soul that is forced to paint forever because SOMEONE can't keep their drug habit under control. You're playing as a toy that is mad about being a toy.
Verso is fully justifiable.

This game has one of the longest soundtracks in history, it's over 8 hours long.

How do you even fight the "Writers"?

Clea painted Fran Fran and left him alone which made him a whoo person which is objectively the highest peak of villainy

wrong

The Painters mentioned the Writers a couple of times. How would their shit work

file.png - 1200x630, 113.25K

people

Painted people, anon. Not REAL people. That world was not real. The savefile you have from minecraft is not real. Wake up, retard.

You can be obtuse all you want. That reality will remain, everyone theorized that there is going to be a twist with the paintress, but it happened when it happened, and it was what it was.
You will always be on the wrong side.

The real verso doesn't need closure. He is already dead.
Painted Verso just projects himself onto the last piece of Real Verso's soul.

Would you let your wife and daughter commit suicide to save their The Sims save file?

Get to the ending

Feel bad for Maelle having to become a physically scared mute invalid again so I choose her ending (plus I’ve been with her from the beginning)

Play her sidequest and the whole time she’s going “waaaahhhh nobody likes me” while Verso tells her to fuck off cause the real Alicia knows that isn’t true

She kills painted Alicia before giving Verso a chance to say goodbye

Has the gall to be like “actually you’re the asshole cause you let Gustave die.”

Awful human being. Kudos to the writers for doing 180 like that that didn’t feel contrived.

Read the post but with your eyes open this time. You are still pretending that something bad is, in fact, not bad. Because accepting it would hurt your argument and maybe your feelings. Kind of like how Maelle doesn't want to face the truth.

What's with the apple meme? Did I miss it in the game, which scene was it?

Basically the Verso ending

Painted worlds are fake and soulless and represent escapism fantasy and drug use. Everyone but the father (and dead son) was in the wrong. One bitch doesn't want to accept her brothers death and move on and reenter society. One sister is fucking around picking fights and getting people killed. Mother is also lost in her denialism and grief. Only the father was trying to piece the family back together and save lives

You didn't answer what he did that made him irredemable in your eyes. What was so bad? Lying a few times? Come on.

Painted Verso just projects himself onto the last piece of Real Verso's soul.

Did you actually finish the game? Did you see the ending of Verso? It all makes sense, his soul part is tired and wants to fuck off forever, so does his painted version. Just let him go, man.

Real Verso gave his life for Maelle, and would not be fine her throwing that life away
Painted Verso, some of Aline’s best work, absolutely fulfilled his will

The real verso doesn't need closure. He is already dead.

The piece of Verso's soul is being forced to paint and sustain Canvas. Verso's soul wants to rest and that's why painted Verso desperately wants to end all this.

Painted Alicia wanted to die, Gustave didn't.

Read my post again.
How does keeping her drug habit and being in a painting 24/7 help getting your head out of the sand?

Considering they existed only 67 years prior, when Aline created the first wave of characters.

Which is what exactly?

Manipulating their friends and countless expeditions to fight for a false hope of survival, all what Verso wanted is to die even if that means destroying the world, killing his friends, dooming his ``sister`` to a life of pain and suffering

67 years ago was when the fracture happened. Lumiere has existed in the canvas for 100 years minimum, and everything else like Esquie, the gestrals and grandis have been around for hundreds of years in the canvas' timeline.

writers had to resort to a fire and getting alicia on their side briefly so if it isn't magic then clea is taking a fucking gun.

You’re a miserable human being

That doesn't justify murder.

Its the lesser of two evils principle, i dont make the rules

It's not murder. It's assisted suicide.

friends

He was aware of being a painting and didn't treat them as human beings, because he didn't treat himself as one. Which is correct on both accounts.
He was put there against his will by people who paint random, cruel, sorrowful and traumatic shit for no real reason (like Clea). And he wanted to get out of the prison by any means necessary.

dooming his ``sister`` to a life of pain and suffering

He knows that staying inside of the painting for too long will, ultimately, kill Alicia faster than him or Renoir destroying the canvas so they can give her and Aline a fucking reality check.
Which, again, in Verso's ending makes perfect sense as the whole family seems past that shit.

Maelle was enjoying it a little too much

You are not playing as Verso's soul dummy. You are playing as a copy of Verso painted by Aline. Verso's soul is represented by the fading child and is not the same thing. At least have a basic understanding the character before asserting things about him.

the puppets I play with and name in my imagination are actually real humans!

man, Anon Babble sure is stupid these days

Verso is dead. Who cares what a fraction of his soul wants? The only one that cares is Painted Verso and that is because he sees himself too much as Real Verso.

and would not be fine her throwing that life away

Not his choice to make.

You don’t make anything at all. You’re a miserable human being

I wonder how addicting being in a painting really feels for an average painter. Clea seemed to handle it for some time. Renoir resisted for what felt like 67 fucking years apparently.

Assisted suicide is still murder.

You post this same thing in every thread in response to criticism. Why are you so obsessed with Americans? And why do you defend such a gay story?

I just don’t understand how idiots like you with no sense of narrative direction exist

Does your puppet talk, feel, dream, and create new children all interdependent of you?

Did you even read the post in full you absolute retard?
I'll help you out:

You're playing as a toy that is mad about being a toy.

Here. I'm not saying you're playing as his soul. Seriously, either learn english or learn to read, because you're simply too stupid for vidya

didn't treat them as human beings, because he didn't treat himself as one. Which is correct on both accounts.

Show me the dialogue or journal entry in the game where it says this. I'll present you one that says the exact opposite. Now it's up to you to prove it wrong with your head canon.

interdependent

Independent*

In my head it does. So that makes it real

Why are the females in this game so appealing? They're not particullary good looking but there is something about how they move that is very feminine.

the Verso you're playing as is not Verso, it's a small part of a soul that is forced to paint forever

You wrote your own post and didn't even read it

He was aware of being a painting and didn't treat them as human beings

you forgot the part where the whole reason verso became a sad boy was when his painted gf found out the truth and he murdered her.

None of the other characters care at all about the soul fragment. Not even Monoco or Esquie despite both of them loving the real Verso.

Get some reading comprehension classes anon, they might help you out. Maybe you will understand video game plots better, too

Esquie is actually fucking evil because he could go up and save Gustave but Verso told him to make excuses not to

Kudo to writers for making your protag an unlikable piece of shit and writing a retarded story that preaches to the wrong choir in the most pretentious bit shallow way possible. Yeah, kudo man.

can't read between the lines

I'm sorry about your subsaharan IQ, brother

Who cares what a fraction of his soul wants?

Literally what every psychotic Maellefag says

girl named Alicia

goes into a land full of wonders

Oh, I see...

So the ending choice is basically

Maelle

women, trannies, and retards

Verso

true chads who understand how things work

I asked for dialogue or lore that even slightly hints towards your head canon and all you have to say is "it's subtext". Subtext of what. Show it. Now is your chance.

Sigh.
Can we just talk about Clea please?

Esquie is Tom Bombadil tier. He could, but he's either too lazy, doesn't give a shit, or simply won't bother

There is basically a reason there is no history of pre-facture Luminere, its all implanted by Aline. Realistically the day she entered and made fake people to run away from her problems, is the same day Renoir entered after her and caused the fracture from fighting.

I dont care about Maelle or Verso.
I only care about the people of Lumiere.

file.jpg - 780x438, 38.76K

Devs blatantly tell you what the bad ending is

People still defend it because they would love the idea of being a dictator over a comfy delusion

is there a reason why Gustave, Verso and Renoir looked very alike?

Renoir didn’t instantly go after Aline, some time passed. Clea’s dialogue makes it clear

With an eraser.

Don't you dare post Esquie, lying traitor scum

Sophie also looks exactly like Clea but isn't a painted Clea, maybe Aline's imagination is just limited when it comes to faces.

just let Verso go, anon

Maelle's ending is so obviously the canon one it's not even funny.
All the lyrics in all OST confirm this is canon.
Canon doesn't mean good ending. But it's canon.

devs want to force you to care about some egomanical god family

they kinda forgot the players care more about mortals

file.png - 1156x646, 657.08K

I thought Sciel looked very much like Clea
just Lune didn't remind me of anybody as she seems to be the only asian woman over there for some reason

200w (1).gif - 200x154, 182.91K

Just because you create something (living, in this case) doesn't mean its morally okay for you to destroy it.

There is no talking it out. You dont think hes tried talking to Aline about this? Shes basically a crackhead by now.

Where is the sixth party member? Why does some vendor say that I have to find another expeditioner? why did I get all that hair for Clea?
Where is Clea?

paint something that you didn't like

NOOOOO YOU CAN'T JUST THROW IT AWAY NOOOO THAT WOULD BE KILLING IT NOOOO WHAT DO YOU MEAN THE PEOPLE INSIDE AREN'T REAL NOOOO THEY'RE REAL IN MY HEAD

before the whole painting reveal I thought the game was going to be about time travel or multiple dimensions.

Gustave,Verso and Renoir being the same person but from different timelines.
Same with Maelle and painted Alicia

Did they actually comment on it? That's interesting

Are parents allowed to kill their children whenever they want because they created them.

Destroying someone's beloved creations is not how you accept their death. (Neither is obsessing over them)

caring about the painted world

at the end of the day paintings can only be an imitation of the real world

makes tons of sense its the canon ending because its a good hook for a sequel, Verso's ending is a good way to ignore the sequel if its shit

Cope and filtered

god creates (you)

versofags think that (you) are not real now

Destroying a canvas is the same killing your child.

You are very mentally unwell

Tons of dialogue blatantly imply the being inside canvases are real, sentient, etc.

They are all mocaped by the same dude. Whether or not there is a narrative reason, I don't know.

I honestly thought the same. Especially since Verso and Renoir are supposedly father and son and have a reversed (heh) scar on their faces from their battle. Maelle looked too much like Alicia to not make that connection straight away but I didn't think it would be just "lol that's her but painted, also that other one is also painted"

That would be actually a more interesting twist I think. Also, killing Gustave off was too quick, I miss his overcharge skill

(you) create an imaginary friend

(you) create an imaginary world

they will always be imaginary, no matter how much of your soul you put into them

let it go anon

See
They are pseudo gods creating pocket dimensions of living creations, not illusions.

I bet if they read the Iliad they would think

Why do Zeus, Athena, Hera, Apollo etc. care about the Greeks and Trojans so much if they are not real

a painting is the same as a child

Seriously, grow up

The game hints multiple times that there's not enough Chroma to go around. Lune mentions in the conversation with Maelle that she can feel Gustave. It seems to me once people of the canvas die, their Chroma is "in the air" waiting to be pulled either as a new human being, or "ressurected" like Sciel and Lune

???? If they're going to make another game its either going to be in the real world addressing the war between Writers and Painters, or they would make something like a prequel about Renoir's painting.

same, it is a clear bait and I fell for it. There are a few other moments like that in act 1 where the writers bait out a lot of tropes to make you think you know where the story is going.

People calling them imaginary are coping to make the decision easier. Sadly the writers of the game need to step in and explain it to people so theres 100% certainty.

Isn't it time you faggots moved to a general

I think it's supposed to be an alternate universe version of early 20th century Paris, since Verso's birthday is December 33, which doesn't exist.

I do agree with you its just that Maelle's ending kind of paints her as no different than Maman willing to lose herself in the painting

The game already explains that they're sentient and have souls. It's a willfull blindness

Why did Maelle even recognize Goblu and why did he love the flower so much?

goblu.jpg - 2000x1125, 304.98K

No, it's the resident schizo. People just keep falling for the obvious bait over and over and over, somehow. But it's the same guy, in every thread. He makes most of the threads, too. So there is no escaping it since everyone takes his stupid shit seriously.

nah the ending choice is

pick one

reload save

pick other

Random slightly related tidbit:
"Load previous save" has 20 slots.
You can scroll down past the first 3.

nah, they're all soulless creatures imitating real life something paintings are made to do, in all honesty I think I wouldn't think this way if everything in the world wasn't art related

Chopin1.jpg - 561x1280, 141.51K

If the devs state that the canvas is real and all its inhabitants sentient then that kinda makes the devs seem like psychos for promoting the "good" ending where you destroy an entire world to save 2 people.

I don't know if it's commented on at any point but I think it's either

it's created from Sophie's chroma after she gommaged

it's because Maelle recognizes the painting from her home, the manor

If you became an UGLY, DISFIGURED, FREAK SHOW with no voice and ONE EYE, wouldn't you want to escape to a world where you're normal?

I started losing my hair which is pretty much just as bad. It just made me cut ties with everyone and stay inside as much as possible.
escaping to a fake doomed world (where i lose my memories and they get replaced, which is the same as dying) is something I'd never do.

AI generated gravestone

Versobros...

Goblus theme has no reason to go that hard
youtube.com/watch?v=gd-BhUaVVxA

I thought at first the gommage turns people into nevrons and Sophie was going to be revealed to be goblu.

Well to be fair god created humans in his own design in his own world while painters aren’t true gods, they don’t seem to have any powers outside of the canvas

The painted world has all five senses so I assume it works the same way, but rather than visually changing something you ascribe it new meaning.

I love Sciel

Its watch reactions of the game (sorry not sorry) and a lot of people pick the Maelle ending insisting that its the good ending.

Its painting is hanging in Clea's room. I assume she has seen it in person before elsewhere as well, but it's definitely a poor and random hint.
It's not impossible Goblu is basically an Alicia painted by Clea for shits and giggles, as if calling her a goblina, hence their similar hair color.

not knowing that Clea is Sophie

In the real world she cannot speak and is missing an eye, retard

have souls

Source?

If the devs state that the canvas is real

they did state multiple times in the game that the people created in the canvas are sentient being with souls

Destroying one world to save a god who has created and will continue to create hundreds of worlds is morally just. Its just math when you think about it. It would be a shame if one died addicted to a singular canvas when they still have so much more they can do.

and you can see her being in better shape mentally with her whole family in Verso ending
otherwise she's a crackhead forever

I thought at first the gommage turns people into nevrons

Indirectly that's still sort of true right? Clea creates nevrons out of the chroma of the erased people so that Aline loses control over it
Unless I misunderstood that

youtube.com/watch?v=oEtmFgonY3E
Thanks for the link. This is a much better quality than the one I'd been listening to.

the devs seem like psychos for promoting the "good" ending

When did they do this?

Not that Verso gives a shit about that, granted. He just wants to die + impose his personal view of wellbeing on his sister.
He does not care about the people of other worlds, just about what he thinks is best about Maelle.
The reverse is true for Maelle.
Which is the entire point of the endings.

The source of paint power is the Soul, so you can reasonably assert that any sentient being created from a human soul will therefore also have a human soul.

The game is very successful, there is going to be a sequel. Obviously from Verso’s ending’s base
So this is pointless

Lune or Sciel? Who is a better fit for Verso?

It's actually that Clea made the nevrons to seal chroma when they kill people which renders it inaccessible to Aline.

paints a new alicia with scars burnings for no reason whatsoever while painting a Verso without injuries

fuck ups her son painting by getting addicted to it while almost destroying her actual real family in the process

almost get its real young daughter killed and addicted in the process

make a fanfiction of her other daughter with a different personality because ????

file.png - 2160x1080, 2.02M

Because they made Maelle's ending blatantly the "evil" option by giving you the spooooooky black and white jumpscare implying she will go crazy and die there too.

Never. 95% of these threads are bullshit and made up nonsense to make others "angry".

The source of paint power is the Soul

Source?

So never?

it would exist in the republican calendar if they changed the month names back

He realizes his sister and mother have way more value both personally (which is a flaw) but literally in their creation abilities.

I'm pretty sure the "real" world is the painting that Renoir mentions losing himself in.

Neither of them deserve to be stuck with the lying sociopath. He gets the piano.

In her journal she says she can't stand to look at Alicia and in the Paintress fight she laughs at the idea of Renoir thinking she wouldn't be able to kill Maelle if she had Alicia's face. She just hates her.

In the republican calendar each month only had 30 days.

Ah ok, then I did misunderstand that bit. I really should give this game another round now with way more context after the first playthrough

Something does not need to come from a person's mouth for them to be tried in the court of law as supporting or promoting something. Dumbass.

the last month had extra days, didn't it? the intercalary days

why does she make all Anon Babbleirgins seethe so much?

gods, they don’t seem to have any powers outside of the canvas

They have the power to create worlds and sentient beings on a piece of canvas using their soul. The painters are not omnipotent and all powerful gods, they are more akin to greek gods with their own limitations and flaws

Pictos are just another crutch. Expedition 60 didn't need them.

The creation abilities are still just something he uses as a clutch to sell the idea.
He says so himself, they are hypocrites, they don't care about a greater goal or purpose, just their viewpoint.
His viewpoint is; He cannot let go of his fake memories and decides to let them sway him to save Alicia and Aline over the canvas and his family.
The rest is happenstance. He'd do the same if they happened to be average people with no powers stuck in the canvas.

They have the power to create worlds and sentient beings on a piece of canvas using their soul.

Yeah but that's not really useful for anyone outside of themselves and since it works like heroin it's not even a good thing

Verso's soul

You being freaked out because it's in black and white doesn't mean that the devs are promoting the other ending.

The real issue is that they don’t have power in their own. And that’s a difference, because in our real life religions, primary ones, god creates humans in his own world, with same design

Because Verso's not real to her. She doesn't consider his opinions worth listening to on an unconscious level but you only see flashes of that like this one.

But that's just Verso.
What soul did Gustave have?

How THE FUCK do you get Verso's damage in the millions?

Verso's soul tells you painted people have feelings and souls, verbatim

Retard

Sciel would've been perfect for Verso if ressurectinh her husband was out of the picture. I liked their chemistry, and how she acted in his ending.
But honestly both felt tacted on just because public perception is an RPG NEEDS a romance these days.

upgrade weapn

level up strength

unlock moves that requires 9 AP and deals too much damage

gradient attacks

lumina to stack pictos that increases damage or add buffs

dunno

He has a skill that the more you free shoot shit the more damage it does when you use it

That would mean everyone in the canvas world is a part of Verso's soul, nevrons too, which is retarded.

What? Is that a weapon skill or pictos?

If Verso's soul is the core of the painting and everything is tied to its existence then Verso's soul is equivalent to the Holy Spirit of God that permeates all creation, so yeah.

Nevermind I know what you mean. But it's capped at 10 free shots.

If this doesn't win the GOTY, then the industry is truly fucked. This is the best video game ending I've ever seen, blows all the capeshit as well as weeb trash out of the water.

Why would it mean that? The canvas isn't all made of Verso's soul, it's just maintained by a part of Verso's soul.

By that logic, in Verso's ending then he's not genociding anything. He's just commiting suicide and that's it. And the whole game is about him hurting himself most of the time.

IDK why they made Maelle torture Verso in the ending against his explicit wishe

Isnt she being selfish and using him as comfort because she misses him? Like making your family into a ghost or zombie rather than let them die because you are sad.

I'm gonna be real, I'm in love with Clea. I hate that they gave us so little of her...

I want to fuck Clea! I want to join the Dessendre family via marrying Clea and having her bully me for not being a Painter !

Duelliste for AP lol

I think its gonna sweep GOTY, Narrative, Voice Actor (either Gustave or Verso), Music and RPG.

idunnolol

file.png - 458x63, 47.29K

Because how would the souls appear otherwise? It's not fully stated that painters can create souls for their creations out of the blue, instead it's supposedly a part of their own soul.

Taking an action you know will kill others indirectly is still murder

Most people here like Maelle, it's Alicia we hate.

Post your Gustave, anon. With the pictos. I want to see how far I'm off, kek

He looks so defeated :(

journos praise basic bitch shit like TLOU 1/2 for LE MASTERPIECE WRITING

Expedition 33 blows it out of the water

journos only talk about combat because they most likely didn't even beat the game and have no clue about the story and endings

Mainstream gamin IS dead as fuck my man.

We've been told that creating a canvas requires a piece of their own soul, this is the kid verso for this canvas.

We haven't really been told how painted people have souls, just that they do have them. Painters can just do that I guess.

Gustave

I mean Verso... damn...

sadfrog.jpg - 500x484, 21.02K

best indie too

For those who come after...

And who is killed other than Verso in that ending then, if every person is a part of his soul?

god creates humans in his own world, with same design

Thats the Abrahamical viewpoint though, greek norse and other mythologies have completely different creation myths.

The real issue is that they don’t have power in their own

They create worlds with sentient beings on a piece of canvas. Just because you dont see them flying or casting fireballs in the Olympus doesn't mean they are not powertful

unlock moves that requires 9 AP and deals too much damage

But his skills do piss poor damage even stacked full of damage boosting pictos and powerful? I slap every damage boost I see and he can't even break 1 million. I have to be doing something wrong.

Are you having him get S rank?

For those who come (inside Sciel and Luna) after (I am dead)...

FUCK NTRSO

It's pretty for this game that there really isn't any big name releases this year. I think the only other competition is the new Ghost of Sushi but I don't see a sequel game beating out an original game like this

Sorry Maellesimps, I can't romance Clea if I choose her ending.

Idk I use Overload with the sword that gives ranks based on HP % (so it makes me auto S) and then Berserk Slash/Phantom Starts which do like ~5m. Just stacking damage luminas. Also have defenseless and powerful and burning from other party members.

I can't romance Clea if I choose her ending.

You are just a mortal inside one of the hundreds of words the painters have created. You wil never romance a god

Imagine picking Verso like a retard and missing out on this kino. And you only get to pick one ending per playthrough.

you can just load a save and pick again

I like how this game has diversity but it doesn't feel forced. The entire team being white and the women devs not having colored hair probably helped.

Who are you romancing Clea as? Maelle?

When child Verso created his canvas it involved a piece of his soul being used as a base.

When characters talk about Verso's canvas being the last piece left of them, it's not metaphorical. It's literally a surviving, living remnant of him.

I dunno how people complain about difficulty in this. Its got difficulty settings. And even IF you insisted on expert you can quickly overpower the game's core mechanics by the end of act 1.

Sciel is a gypsy. But nevertheless.

Will this game run on a potato, i kinda wanna pirate it

I'm actually from the Writer's universe and Clea is a fictional character in a video game here.

Sciel

Lune

White

Retardo-kun...

She is nafri. Berber most definitely.
All the diversity in the game is based on french colonialism at the time. Lune is from French Indochina

If the aline and alicia didnt feel the need to sucide cope with it inside they could leave it but they cant control it. Thats what verso calls out maelle in his ending. That she doesnt intend to leave, aka sucide by canvas. He doesnt want that for her so he destroys it. If alicia just came back every so often id be fine.

you can overpower the whole game in the prologue you fucking scrub

Huh? Only Gustave, Maelle and Verso are white, that's 3 out of 6. Sorry chuddie, this is a diverse and inclusive game.

Lune is the writer's self-insert.

writer.png - 515x731, 161.81K

entire team as in developers

he doesn't know the writer universe is just a fictional place the Dreamers created

ngmi

Berber

Perhaps. Her "tarot"-esque and foretell cards gimmick just felt more like a specific wink towards Romani gypsies in France.

Inst it more seeing her face reminds her of verso? Those types that get obsessed about one kids death they get mind wrecked.

Myself, obviously, I'm the guy whose holding the camera for all these characters.

Except if she did that everyone in Lumiere would have experienced decades for every one of her disappearances.
She just wants to live a normal lifespan inside the canvas and then die as Maelle. It's a pretty understandable want. She has no attachment to hear real life for obvious reasons.

Alicia's the reason Verso's dead lol

She is canonically Verso's woman in the very last song (and most important) of the OST. She is clearly the favorite:
youtube.com/watch?v=7lM8fVR_oZw

Maelle has a life to paint

Sweet erased star

Alicia has a life to paint

Verso in the night

Lune by his side

No mention of Sciel at all.

Yeah, and they are all dead.
What you have in the end are Alicia's lookalikes for her own fantasies, not actually them.
If you consider them human, then they died and that's it, otherwise you are admitting they are artificial and painters have a say on their life and death.

. It's a pretty understandable wan

yes being the equivalent of stoned, lying to yourself is often fun and understanble. But not proper and not what verso wanted. He clearly wants her to live a full life, hence he died saving her in his actual life and his painted version carries that same belief.

Every single thing in the reveal trailer is in the game
Why are you people so low Iq? Do you think that they exited the canvas 16 years ago, fucked and had Alicia, and then went back in? They haven't been in there for years. Time moves differently I'm the canvas. Do you think Alicia is adopted? She has full knowledge of her parents. It's not like they've been in there for decades, years, months. It's definitely been days if you use any sort of logic or math at all. The ONLY thing that slightly counters this math is this is how quickly Paintress reappears.

gustave

white

LMAO, he looks like a turk.

I'm the canvas

Are you, anon?

That's your take on it, I guess. I disagree. Living for your art and dying for it is a charming concept, and I would do exactly the same in her shoes. I'd owe your morals or my brother's sentimental diarrhea nothing.

NG+

+30 levels mod

Now the fun begins.

Get to the end

you need to replay all the bosses

Why are games doing thid

ending choice

pick Maelle because fuck erasing everything I worked for

Verso goes into a suicidal panic attack (see pic)

already feel bad af

but it's not even the actual A LIFE TO PAINT ending yet

I still stand by my choice though

which ones?

Living for your art and dying for it is a charming concept,

That's not what she did though, she just decided to live all her life in a escapist fantasy instead of actually dealing with her family, while playing god in some fake world that's killing her.
She quite literally doesn't care about the people in lumiere, just that they exist for her.

That's just how French people look, their men are a bit more hairy, idk why I'm not a Frenchie myself, maybe someone else could explain

Why would you feel bad for that when he very much deserves to hate his life and suffer whatever hell he gets put through?

fuck erasing everything I worked for

It's already dead anon... you are fighting for Alicia to more or less remake everything as she sees fit and that's just not the same (see monoco and noco)

who is he and whats his point

Because it's kino, I don't care about your brainrot brains that can only think about "content", facing harder bases bosses before the final boss is the best way to show the player that he actually improved since the start of the game.

native, actual frenchmen do look similar to Gustave
t. eurofag

And that's your take on it. Which I disagree with and have no reason to consider as anything but that.
You are welcome to keep it.

Battlestar Galactica 2004 and Predator both have a very diverse cast but you can't call them woke. Don't be as retarded as Stonetoss.

Yeah thats what i said. The mother is annoyed and blames alicia and is reminded every time she sees her.
as the other anon said she isnt dying or living for her art. Shes hiding in a fake world pretending its real because the real one sucks. Also, its technically versos art anyway since its his canvas not hers. She then forces him to keep remaking it so she can play in it. If she died for art id be fine with it but i think you didnt understand the choice at the end of what was happening if you thought thats what it was about.

Which I disagree with and have no reason to consider as anything but that.

So you miss the actual writing of the game, including Alicia's thoughts on the world.
Great to know it's absolute headcanon and ignoring what's actually going on.

Maelle ending defenders don't seem to understand they're seeing an addict overdosing

the people you bring back arent real

the game literally states they are, stop trying to morph the rules to fit your headcannon

Whatever you say, mate. I am not here to debate your seething headcanon, I genuinely don't care about what you elect to convince yourself is the situation.
Godspeed.

Andy Serkis
He's stopping his wife and daughter from overdosing on magic heroin

Yeah thats 100% what it is. When verso says shes lying to Renoir its completely about letting her overdose because she feels better with it instead of facing reality. Understandable yes but definitely not what verso wanted for her.
Nobody in the canvas except for the family is real.

Don't worry, it's the resident schizo. That's all he does. He's just here to bait, hasn't actually played the game.

So what? Then how about you give up video games and go be with your shitty family? It's a pretty dumb message. "Everything's fake but muh family".

Every time they're brought back it's not fully them, you absolute retard. Did you even do Monoco's quest?

Everybody is real. Even the fucking mime are.

The gestral rebirth process is a completely different thing.

Retard anon... You can load previous saves

Nobody in the canvas except for the family is real.

Sadly retards don't get it, but maybe they will. Though I think their coomerbrain for maelle overshadows any logical thought

I just entered the paintress island. How much do I have left?

Yeah that's me. This entire thread is all me.

Did you even do Monoco's quest?

They dont even need to do that, when noco dies monoco mentions it.
Its pretty much canon that they arent. Its just art in the canvas made up by aline ontop of versos creations.
When the chans was down i realized how a lot of people here are quite literally autistic and cant piece together concepts unless its stated obviously.

Like 2 hours if you beeline to the end

This thread is a part of Verso's soul therefore we're all a part of Verso

If you bumrush the story then this dungeon + one more, but act 3 is structured like Dragon Quest 11, meaning 90% of it is optional side content (which does include more story).

Zanzibart... forgive me.

file.png - 1297x539, 983.41K

me reading this garbage thread

gestral rebirth ≠ god using the chroma of that person to bring them back

Did you even do Monoco's quest?

did you even play through act 3? Seems like you kinda forgot about Sciel and Lune, hell even in act 2 its about Pierre

What was up with that part about Verso, Recto? I think the writers were trying to sound profound with that line, but I didn't get it? Front and back, okay, so what?

Year 33. Jesus christ you people are illiterate.
I wish Anon Babble stayed dead.
The top choice is Maelle. You verso retards are retards. Canon choice is heroin addict maelle and verso purgatory suffering, not verso kills everyone

It seems like the discussion surrounding the ending is very cleanly divided down the line of "have you ever lost a family member"

All of the side content is dogshit though and there really isn't much story other than Clea and Simon.

Year 33. Jesus christ you people are illiterate.

Are you fucking retarded? It says 33 December 1905.

I've lost everyone but my mom, I'm almost 40 and everyone else is dead, even cousins and uncles. It's just me and my aging mom now. But I don't even think about it, it's just how it goes.

1905 is the day fucking moron
Go get some coffee

maellefags can't read dates

Year 33. Jesus christ you people are illiterate.

Sorry Anon, I meant the 1905th of December in the year 33. How could I miss that.

33.jpg - 1280x720, 132.76K

Probably just something that made more sense in French.

You are autistic. Thematically it's the same thing. Alicia doesn't bring back original Luna and Sciel, she paints them from her own memories. Just like painted Verso is not original Verso. Alicia's paintings are just copies of Lumiere people as she remembers them. And those are even worse because Aline was a superior painter and Alicia is a shitty paintress.

Want another blackpill? We see the "real" world Eiffel tower twice in the game, one time in a flash back and the second time in the end. Both times the background has the the same foggy and grey-ish weather suggesting that the weather doesn't change just like in lumiere

than you for not killing everyone in this world anon

Okay? That seems like a you thing.

I'm 34.

Mom murdered when I was 22

Dad fell into heroin and I have no fallen into weed and Anon Babble as escapism

My dad is basically maelle.

Would I kill Anon Babble to save myself (including all of you)

Yes

It's not deep at all. Just a reference that Verso is not who he really is and he's putting on a mask. All the songs in the Visages level has copy version of it reversed.

Lune and Sciel both remember private conversations they had with Verso that Maelle knows nothing about.

I don’t why but i had an irrational laughing streak when she said “Stop quoting Papa!”
Something about how she said it lmao

What ending did you pick?

We see the "real" w

I still dont understand why it was expedition 49 (?) when we see the first playable moment of alicia. Were expeditions real then or is it just a reference point for us?

Jesus died at 33 years old, I guess they were referencing that with this number being everywhere.

The game does not say any escapism at all is bad. Renoir and Clea are able to go into and engage with the canvas just fine
The issue is that Aline and Alicia cannot cope with reality and are getting addicted to being in the canvas to their detriment. That's when escapism starts becoming a problem

she paints them from her own memories

she brings them back using their chroma, play the game instead of watching a lets play

What ending did you pick?

Maelle, it didn't make sense to destroy everything we worked for.

33 is a magic number in a lot of contexts

Because you retarded people don't consider the simulated real world pill with your alternate reality bullshit, there is nothing proving 1905 is not the day.

Just like Verso's memories are not limited by only what his mother knows about him. Painting magic and shit. Still doesn't make them the same people.
You are illiterate. Maelle is choking on copium clinging to her fantasy world and convinces herself these people are the same. They are not. Every other piece of lore and story supports this.

The game should have stayed what it was in act1, and Gustave was the perfect protagonist, if they didn’t even plan a sequel what was the point introducing this painters vs writers shit

The expeditions really happened. I'm pretty sure they mentioned that to give a reference point for when Maelle was "born"

Just like Verso's memories are not limited by only what his mother knows about him.

The soul of the real Verso being in the canvas makes this plausible.

You're the same kind of idiot that is still seething at Danganronpa V3.

it should've been just a generic defeat le big bad story

fucking retard

Werid. Ive had a lot of family members die and i picked verso. Death is part of life and we cant use lies to cope with it for me.
Ah ok thats what Im wondering but then whose the painter in real life? or whatever the writers are i guess then. May not be an answer.

Did you just skip all of the dislogue and cut scenes

In reference to what. I still have some optional stuff to do.

Kill yourself faggot

the game goes on lengths about how you need the specific chroma of that person to bring them fully back.

Every other piece of lore and story supports this.

show me one single quote then

file.png - 1263x543, 694.13K

whose the painter in real life?

What do you mean? The canvas?
Verso in real life painted the canvas, as well as the fantastical beings like the Gestrals and Esquire
Their mom Aline was the painters and she created all the humans
Their father Renoir created the Axions and he was the one doing the homage
Their sister Clea created the Nevrons to assist Renoir
Alicia is a CHUMP so she didn't create shit

That’s an Alicia issue since she’s not the original maker. Aline created them from nothing, and could do it again

Sentencing yourself to sadness when there is a perfectly equally real alternative, with people that deserve a chance to say their goodbyes and live out their lifespans as well and who have fought hard for that right, seems perfectly reasonable.
You would only call it a "lie" if you for some reason didn't consider the main crew to count as real people, in which case the point of the game has already flew right past you anyway.

The whole family are painters. Verso was the one who painted the original painting that's why it has a fragment of his soul.

I mean when we see the first big scene of clea and alicia its mentioned as expedition 49 and a writers issue. I was trying to figure if the expeditions are real outside the canvas or if thats just our frame point.

main crew to count as real people, in which case the point of the game has already flew right past you anyway.

The entire point of the game makes it clear they arent real dude. Like how do you fail to have realized that? Theyre creations of verso, aline and then of alicia. They arent real. Esquie isnt real and neither is lune.
Yeha i get that part i mean are the expeditions actually real or is it just a reference point of time for us.

Based, told him off good

Okay so you are retarded and can be safely disregarded. Might even be the schizo trying to cover your writing pattern since you seem to be the only one driving this retarded point.
Well, have your fun baiting retards. This is saging to death anyway.

Aline created entirely new beings, Alicia wants to bring everyone back. Show me one quote that says the people Alicia brings back with the Chroma are not the the same people

The expeditions didn't happen in real life, they were just in the canvas. However the writers issue was something going on in the real world. Basically the family was going through a conflict with the writers guild at the time

Okay so you are retarded and can be safely disregarded.

Give me a quote or scene that proves its real? The entire canvas is fake dude. Did you miss the like every scene with renoir talking?

Sentencing yourself to sadness when there is a perfectly equally real alternative

Why are you pro-heroin abuse?

The expedition happens only in the painting, there were no expedition until the fracture.

Theyre creations of verso, aline and then of alicia

You're a creation of god, youre not real you media illiterate child

Ah k thanks anons.

thing is god isn't showing up like the painters are to do random shit with the world
hell, he doesn't seem to appear at all

media illiterate

kek you are a literal retard arent you? Like you cant see the apple in your head can you? None of the people in the canvas are real. Its just cope for alicia because shes sad.

Picking maelle is like being pro tranny. Yes you can be a woman if it makes you happy! When its clearly a lie.

Renoir: You will become like your mother if your stay

Maelle: No I won't

Becomes like her mother

This game just shows that women are emotional addicts

Creations of God are real
Creations of painters are not
Easy and Simple

Also why the fuck it’s an axiom now that we’re created by God!?

hell, he doesn't seem to appear at all

he did about 2000 years ago, which are a few years in the painters universe

Well at least he's not addicted to being in the painting like Alicia, then

hes probably inside another painting he created in which we didn't kill him and boot him out of the canvas

He can simply come back to our canvas like the painters do and fuck with us more then, because why not
And take our chroma because why not too

or we could all just be killed because Cain is sad about being immortal

want to see her get her revenge now that the family is healing in the true end

fuck you, I want to make an expedition to kill god now

That one zone where it's just a view of the manor and some French motherfucker talking loudly LMAO

That was a weird area, is there really only the record there?

Because it used to be a story about time travel (the whole countdown thing, constant mentions of "breaking the cycle" etc.), but they ended up changing it at some point during production.

Yea I looked it up just to be sure cause I was in disbelief... I also alt tabbed cause I thought a trailer for the game was playing or some shit lmao./

I initially thought it was an audio glitch and it was playing the english and french dubs over each other.

This is Aline btw
