Fair enough, Pc gaming comes with some tinkering. That might seem like a hassle to the inexperienced but once you git gud at it it's a fast process. which, in the end, leaves you with more options than you can dream off.
Also, some of the best gaming experiences I had have been from extensively modded games, which consoles simply have no access too.
And for anything FPS, strategy etc mouse and kb controls are still the best. Getting a controller to work on a PC is basically plug and play thanks to Steam so there's no loss there. PC is simply for the hobbyists that enjoy maximizing their gaming gains. Consoles are for casuals who get to play a few hours over the weekend when they don't have to sit next to their wife doomscrolling and watching netflix slop.
Yeah, but after the tinkering I have something that works for the next 8 years, I don't think the afternoon I used to put it togheter is so vexing on my overall free time.

I'm used to tinkering things for my hobbies for the best experience possible. I've gotten a pretty good problem solving mentality too. I use all sorts of niche technologies and the price of that is sometimes just DIY everything. Those who want the absolute best are willing to put up with jumping through hoops sometimes. I'm one of them.

I agree. I don't have time or energy after work to troubleshoot issues. It took me 2 years to figure out why my 4090 crashed when I shut off my monitors. I'm done with PC gaming. I'll only use it for games that aren't on console, which aren't that many since I'm not interested in indieslop.

i could only play killzone 1 at a decent framerate on an emulator years later. usually anything not super triple A like god of war would give me lots and lots of problems, games would perform like shit, freeze, crash, wouldn't load, etc... and there was nothing i could do about it
