Kamille grows and has a satisfying arc but you're putting him in some big ass shoes, there's no shame in not measuring up to Amuro and Char

Started not too long ago and the cast already feels weaker than in Seed also most of the plot points are really similar, it's like watching G00 S2. Will still keep watching though but so far for me Seed is a much better show.

A few of the choices themselves could be much more interesting if they weren't their blandest iterations.
Like I'd vastly prefer if Wing was the TV Wing or even the Glory of the Losers manga over regular Endless Waltz again.
I'd vastly prefer if instead of Code Geass Ressurection we got tv Code Geass again if 30 was any indication on how little the Geass crew plays into the overall games.

Personally Kamille is my favorite character, followed by Amuro, then Char.
I liked him from the very first episode and really enjoyed the contrast between him and Amuro as protagonists.

Kamille’s story is a slow burn. It’s not til the last third where he develops into his own person and stops trying to aspire to be like Char and Amuro

Kamille has a very slow arc but it's cool because at some point you'll realize he's completely different
Zeta has a lot of problems, like its completely lifeless dub, some bizarre story beats and even stranger character motivations, and trying to shoehorn in previous characters when it's not needed, etc.
but it's all worth it for Kamille's arc

I don't get gquacks, the MC is just some bored middle class schoolgirl, but the moment she sees an opportunity to kill a cop she bumrushes both a gang and a spec ops guy to steal their mechs to do so, then the plot switches to a hyper lethal underground bloodsport where noone has any trouble sourcing top of the line combat mechs
