[The Truth] on Elden Ring

this game is vastly disliked here albeit

improved combat encounters, where sorcery has been changed from simple attack from distance into plethora of options, in terms of speed, distance, stagger damage

utility spells such as eternal darkness, thops's barrier, carian retaliation; all being high skill ceiling and niche

many weapon ash of wars which increase build defining features in the game, and uniqueness for each player; your build is most likely not the exact same unless you are simply choosing to not engage with anything

aside from gameplay improvements

interesting niche bosses, simple bosses like yhorm the giant are now more unique such as rykard

bosses are vastly harder, yet very much so doable; they have interesting unique defining attacks; margit with its holy incantation attacks, godfrey with stomps, malenia with malenia attack

dlc even more so improved bosses, where bosses like messmer and rellana have ranged, melee and interesting combos that can be chained back to back, creating dynamic movesets

most of the zones are extremely different and unique, improvement from ds2/ds3

there are issues with the game, sure; but the game itself is an insane improvement on the franchise and gaming as a whole

bosses... have ranged, melee and interesting combos that can be chained back to back, creating dynamic movesets

So when will the player get to have interesting combos and dynamic moveset instead of having a moveset that can be mastered in about 15 seconds, no fun allowed green cuck bar, flinching from enemies looking his way, and winning exclusively due to having a superpower of becoming invulnerable while rolling on the floor?
Because effectively, that game is a humiliation simulator where you play as a hilarious circus midget. Even if you are really, really good at being a circus midget, it's still a humiliation simulator.

Player has that. if you are playing like a slow DeS character that is how (you) are choosing to play.
I play stack turtle stamina regens and hold run at all times when playing.

stamina bar

it is cosmetic, you can't run out of it after putting some point

but the game itself is an insane improvement on the franchise and gaming as a whole

yeah if you ignore the fact that bloodborne and sekiro already had better combat and were released years before elden ring

dump all points into VIG - can now tank hits and re-enforces blocking or steady play

dump all points into END - huge defense and poise, can now have infinite stamina

You all got pranked on stat distribution and never thought twice about it. There's a reason the dlc had a double turtle talisman and a cracked tear to turn stamina use off.

Player has what? Interesting movesets? The only singular change from demon's souls is having one "be cool" button that eats non-replenishable blue cuck bar which you need to invest into to have a viable access to it (unlike enemies who don't have green cuck bar or blue cuck bar). Aside of that the moveset is just as primitive and pathetic, maybe fitting for a dungeon crawler game about dangerous world where combat isn't the selling point, but outright insulting for something increasingly sold as an action game.

there are issues with the game, sure; but the game itself is an insane improvement on the franchise and gaming as a whole

I just want honest hitboxes going forward. I'm kinda sick of hitboxes not being representative of the graphics I can see on screen.

the game itself is an insane improvement on the franchise

I agree, Elden Ring was a massive improvement on the Elden Ring franchise

Interesting movesets?

Definitely. Weapon arts tend to move your character instead of just swing in an unique way. Learn to add that to your movement. Learn to jump over attacks, learn to running jump over enemies, learn to crouch attacks, learn to backstep into R1. Learn to raptor of the mists or blood hound step instead of dodging. Learn how to play heavier builds and blocking with your 2 handed weapon and guard countering into a weapon art that moves you.
Learn how to play the game.

Anon Babble hates video games, this isn't new.

press and release button in 0.05 seconds

wait 0.3 seconds

character rolls

But it's okay because it's FromSoft.

You don't want honest hitboxes. There is a reason no games use frame perfect hitboxes, from fightan to action to rpg to even simulation none of them use actual honest hitboxes.

They've already learned years ago what you don't understand.

nta but the reason is, the small lag between the eyes, brain and you doing to action, the slight extra hitbox actually makes it more organic

The brain self corrects for that with about 10 minutes of exposure to the phenomena.
If we are tossing around a football and you keep missing the catch its up to you to adjust as we play toss and learn to catch the ball. If dozens of hours of trying that you still can't catch the ball, that is on you.

Weapon arts tend to move your character instead of just swing in an unique way

Such an immense depth and complexity lmao.

Learn to jump over attacks

There is no indication in the game which attacks can or can't be jumped over. It's a completely arbitrary rule which isn't even indicated by an overall direction of an attack - many horizontal slashes will hit you if you jump. The only way you know what you can or can't jump over, is through trial and error for each separate enemy, or by doing extensive research on the internet before playing the game.
All of those things also apply to parrying. There are effectively just 2 reliable defense mechanics which will always work and not require you to do background research before using them, roll or high str and tower shield.

Learn how to play the game

Player learns how to "play the game" in about 15 seconds spent on checking what a newly equipped weapon does. After that, there is no more progress in playing the game. This shitty game isn't about mastering what you do, it's about mastering what each particular enemy does and going back to 0 after you completed its encounter. It looks like some vicious grotesque parody of action games where characters have actually complex kits.

I accept your concession.

from fightan

That's an entirely different beast with a rock/paper/scissors loop, requiring consistency for moves to be worth it. Fromsoft games have more going off such as terrain playing a factor and more than two combatants. The point is that the hitbox rules for fighting games are not the same for Fromsoft games, and never should be.

you think you do but you don't

Stop

Smartest fromshit drone.

Player learns how to "play the game" in about 15 seconds spent on checking what a newly equipped weapon does

Thats how I learned that weapon arts will move me so started using them a bunch.

I learned to crouch attacks by crouch poking everything and seeing enemies whiff me.
The game does reinforce this stuff passively some people never learn then get mad when others did learn.

incapable of seeing words recognized from a meme and understanding it had another meaning once

You need to stop and go back.

There is a reason

Yeah, laziness and incompetence. Being visually accurate should be a priority so it leads to consistent and fair visuals.

that weapon arts will move me

And what difference does it make for a game where everything has near-perfect tracking? Everyone, including "people" who made fromshit games their whole identity, uses the same weapon arts that have most damage and stagger potential anyway.

Also what part of "there is no indication in the game which attacks can be dodged by jump our crouch" you can't read subhuman? Do you think your samefagging is not obvious?

only talking about bosses and combat

You don't get it.

You move out of the way of the attack.

Elden Ring is great
Shadow of the Erdtree is trash

forefront of the game
fromsoft games are combat first everything else second

Fromshit games are games about how you press the dodge button when a boss does a cool combo and feel yourself a HARDCORE GAMER after that (because marketing said that's what hardcore gamers do).
There is nothing else to discuss.

Out of the way of 1 attack out of 100 maybe retard.

Trying too hard sister.

sorcery has been changed from simple attack from distance into plethora of options, in terms of speed, distance, stagger damage

they still haven't revamped their magic system, it's still the same "press up on the d-pad to switch spells" from fucking Demon's Souls

many weapon ash of wars which increase build defining features in the game

you still have to rest at a bonfire every time to change them, you can't even change them on the fly, and you can only equip 1 ash of war per weapon

they went from making adventure games to making full on action games but they still haven't figured out how to make a better combat system that's on par with some of their competitors, Elden Ring's combat is a sped-up version of the same old Demon's Souls combat

The game is pretty good, what I don’t like is the fucking HORRIFIC controller layout and action on button release instead of when you press the button. The crazy shit is nioh had a similar system but it doesn’t feel anywhere near as bad, but that game has its own problems. It just feels like a control scheme from 2002 in a modern game and it’s jarring.

you still have to rest at a bonfire every time to change them

or press right or left on the dpad.

what the fuck was wrong with her?

It should have been an RTS. It's fundamentally flawed; it has a massive problem with scale.

little bro releasing his Elden Ring review 3 years after release

didn't read

spams night comet

empty open world with nothing to do

copypasted open world at that

hidden level caps and missable key elements because OW
