I hated the atmosphere, the characters and the story. I don't like eastern people they have a slave mentality and are soulless, they'd do the most wicked shit for money, they're worst than black people in that regard imo. But everything was grey in this game and really depressing. I think GTA 5 is superior in everything but physics but then again, i couldn't care less about that in the heat of gameplay.

Some parts of it are pretty good, particularly the physics, AI and general world building, and the story wasn't as terrible as in GTA V. The two main problems is that the map was way too small, and consisted entirely of a city, which is boring, while the other problem was that Niko is the most boring character in history, as is his shitty eastern European background and family. Then again, given the awful characters we were given in GTA V, boring might be better than a cucked mobster, a sanitized ghetto negro and a crackhead.
That's still better than the heavily scripted dogshit missions in GTA V. The heists in particular were just awful and on rails.
No, it was a huge upgrade from a technical perspective, and not just graphics. The NPC reactions, the character physics, the overall physics, the gunplay... the world just felt more alive and immersive, and far less cartoony.
None of which made it a better game.

GTA IV would be an amazing game if it had more variety in missions, removed the forced dating/friend shit, the main plot should've been around the diamonds, removed the badly implemented decision system.
As for driving physics, I really enjoyed driving in IV compared to the previous trilogy, though towards the end it became a chore because the game felt too long for its own good.

I think it's because V is actually not very good and suffers badly from schizophrenic direction, both in story and gameplay. Technology and limited gameplay mechanics in IV aside, it's a much more cohesive and complete feeling piece overall. V feels like it was rewritten twenty times and had every gameplay feature they could think of (especially the 'character progression' mechanics like strength, stamina growth etc) thrown in without any thought or a final balance/checking passover.
cruising through not-NY on a grey rainy afternoon while the jazz station plays in the background is a whole vibe in itself and i don't remember V ever evoking such a strong reaction. also, the Howard Stern spoof show in IV is such an effective takedown of the whole concept of the show that i'm kind of impressed rockstar was so ahead of public opinion in 2008

because it is more fun and has a better story. I hate the driving for the most part but I just really like the atmosphere of the game on all campaigns. also like we have 3 separate stories that merge together in some points.
GTA5 is the only gta I finished once and never came back because the whole fucking game feels like an introduction to their online ecosystem, which I also never enjoyed. Which is exactly why I am not as excited for GTA6 as most because I just fucking know the same thing will happen again. I bet we won't even have single player DLC AGAIN as well.
