If they made a digital version of the 40k table top game, would GM lose money or make more? Like on the one hand people could play without needing to buy minis. But on the other it might encourage people to get into the table top version after playing the digital version.

People already do that with tabletop simulator

They wouldn't make something like that that people would wanna use

would a business that thrives on selling overpriced physical goods completely destroy its physical market

No. Idiot.

But that's the thing, a video game could result in more physical sales. Lots of people got into card games like MTG by playing the digital games first then collecting cards after.

Do it all on tabletop sims

Or just 3D print your models

Or use placeholders, fuck it

Do whatever you can to cut Games Workshop out. The game is a set of rules, there's no reason for that dogshit company to be involved.

Yeah, but the rules suck too.

The unpainted florescent green 3D prints on cardboard bases will never not be funny to me.

The tau are under appreciated

Doesn't tabletop simulator suck?

Kind of sort of

that sucks

Warhammer Skulls is next week. Anything to look forward to?

For real. I'd rather just play Xenos Rampant.

Hijacking thread to actually give it value and purpose:

Any platforms or games that allow you to play digital 40K games online?

The thread topic is about digital table top so it's not hijacking it's just being on topic. And I too would also like to know if this is a thing.

Other than tabletop simulator the closest thing you're going to find is Battlesector (which kind of sucks desu)

If they did that, you'd still need to buy units for premium price or they'll do some hellish gachanigger system.

GW would make more money but they don't see it that way. They still consider vidya to be competition to tabletop purchases instead of cross marketing. They have a general failure to understand cross marketing in general or how to effectively build a brand. But they also are completely shit at technology, they literally once called the Internet a fad, and they are too possessive to allow a reasonable license agreement that would entice bigger gaming studios into making the vidya really viable. What we currently get when it comes to vidya is a result of older long standing licenses that the publishers want to take advantage of since they still have them, or smaller studios who set out on a passion project. What GW should do is allow licenses to make 1:1 vidya translations of older GW games they don't make anymore. I would kill for a 1:1 original Necromunda game. Or 1:1 Warhammer Quest (the 1st mobile game was ok but not 1:1, 2nd was apparently a shitshow).

Hopefully something BIG for Spice Marine 2.

Well there's the leaked horde mode (apparently you can buy supplies and even summon a dreadnought, between rounds), the upcoming tech marine class,
the blood angels/white scars chapter packs, Chaos Spawn boss, and the power axe, though the devs have said that they're aware of the fanbase knowing about these leaks and have said that they are working on something else that hasn't been leaked, which idk, i don't want to get too excited and fantasize about necrons.

The whole appeal of 40k is having physical little dudes you painted and move around and roll dice, a digital representation of that doesn't hit remotely the same. They should make it anyway, it'd have its audience and probably usher more people to the tabletop game

Wish I knew those free 10th edition indexs were temporary, I would've downloaded them all; I know about wahpedia, but they don't have all the nice pictures.

Can I play horde mode alone? Do you earn anything from playing it?

I don't know in all honesty, it will probably work like operations where you can play solo but are stuck with 2 bots, and i don't know anything about rewards, but there's no reason to assume they won't have cosmetics, they just added new cosmetics for free for getting prestige ranks

I know you know what time it is, post your favorite chapters NOW!

where you can play solo but are stuck with 2 bots

That's all I want, originally bought the game hoping to play eternal war with bots but that never happened. As for rewards, I meant armory data.

Cool color and a love for fire.

Definitely make more because no one actually gives a fuck about the game itself. They play the game because they like the lore and the minis, if it were the exact same game with the same mechanics but different lore and minis nobody would care.

Secondaries are the lifeblood of these sorts of ultra-niche things. Most people are going to bounce right off playing some weird ultra expensive tabletop game, but if you lure them into being a fan of the universe in with cool video games and other multimedia they might buy into the primary tabletop game eventually.

I NEED checker patterns that don't require playing on the "fuck you" modes.

Being able to customize our bots would be cool, too; in tired of my helmetless blue berries.

They'll be in the blood angels dlc

I like their yellow helmet style.
