Curious if we have enough Retsnom bros to discuss a possible Darumi romance. I see people say ‘Darumi romance dlc’ but I am curious to discuss possible ways for it to happen and to get the two as close as they did in Retsnom without a lot of the negative aspects of it.

The way I’ve been thinking about it I have a hard time seeing a scenario where Takumi would hang out with Darumi of all people without it requiring him being hated by everyone like what happened with Retsnom. I can only see that happening from something as dire as getting people killed/lying like he did in Retsnom plus it seems a major change for Darumi’s character was being saved from being killed making her want to live. Would it just need to be Retsnom but good outcome is them never discovering anything on it? Trying to think of a way it could work fitting naturally within the story and not being some stupid bullshit like the romance route where they had dreams and then fight over Takumi. I dunno if she’d go for it just off of that either. Oh and then of course that the only time she ever opens up in the game is when she’s in such pain she forgets to put up her act thus leading to Takumi questioning it, otherwise he might not have. Considering she seemingly keeps it up in all other routes I have no idea what other conditions could be needed to get her to be herself other than dire circumstances

I think it would de-value the retsnom route if Darumi and Takumi didn't bond over being the losers of the group. Infact I think she should have not had any presence in any route aside retsnom because it cheapens Darumi as a tragic character Kodaka clearly had a vision for the character that some of the other routes just shit on and view her entirely on the surface value. I think a romance route would do similiar.

It's just the Darumifag route. I liked it thematically. I don't think I ever said it was epic in scope or anything, but it feels exactly like what a Darumi route should be. The Platonic ideal of a Darumi route, if you will.

One possible way to do it would have it be a branch off within Retsnom route where, like you say, they don't discover anything about Retsnom. Then their relationship develops in some other way. Although that does still have the "everyone hating Takumi" aspect at the start. Another way to do it would be to set up some scenario where Takumi saves Darumi in another way, since the rescue is what triggers Darumi to drop her act for a moment and thank Takumi sincerely. Perhaps this causes Takumi to want to dig deeper to find who the real Darumi is, although it won't be easy since she's strict about keeping it up, like you say. Another way would be to have Takumi become depressed for some reason, which encourages Darumi to try and give him some "positive reinforcement" like she does in Retsnom, which then causes Takumi to become curious about her. I think it's plausible enough.

That's the point anon, You get your happy ending. It's good because it's self-contained and does it's own thing with a focus on one character rather then trying to write it's own Second Scenario. It isn't as repetitive as the other routes yet doesn't disregard the prologue. More routes should have been like it

There's many routes where Takumi could simply stop being an apathetic piece of shit and care about his teammates other than Nozomi. Literally in the prologue she starts crashing out and he literally thinks to himself "I should just ignore her, I got more things to worry about"

There's a very obvious point in Retsnom where the boxes get brought up and Takumi for some reason says "nah ignore them" and I thought it was particularly shitty writing.

Funny enough when you think about it the conflict with the group in Retsnom actually resolves itself completely without Retsnom involvement! It was Takumi helping Nozomi and her forgiving him that led to Ima and Gaku caving too. So the conflict there would still resolve itself even if they never find any Retsnom info.

I suppose the only other way she could be in real danger would be something involving going outside the school but that also feels a little contrived too

Retsnom Darumi and KG Darumi are borderline different characters. Retsnom Darumi Deconstructs her character in the prequel and makes you retroactively feel bad about how you treated her whereas KG Darumi is XD her and Hiruko both like killing!!1! heckin' yuri! I don't hate KG Darumi but it's very obviously a completely different direction that what the prologue set up and what Retsnom capitalized on.

Guess it comes down to him needing to have saved Darumi from perma-dying beforehand to get her to not only want to live but also get a little attached to Takumi. Pretty sure before the killing game starts Darumi is one of the main ones that doesn’t want to be anywhere near Takumi because she think he’s a killer. There’s hints of the real Darumi in KG but the way she acted before killing Hiruko is pretty shitty. If she secretly cares about everyone and takes on a sacrificial easy to hate person position, why was she so eager to participate in something that’ll screw everyone? I don’t think Retsnom Darumi would actually want to do the killing game. Did Takumi killing Eito really lower her trust of everything that much?

There are a few times in the story where it feels like there is a conflict just for the sake of it. I've gotten used to it, and things usually get resolved in a decent enough way, but ideally there wouldn't be "this is kind of dumb" moments in the first place.

The trigger for Romance Route is stupid. Why would I want to romance these other girls if I picked an option to kiss Hiruko?

I don't remember the specifics but Darumi, Gaku, and Shoma are characters that Takumi has negative thoughts about pretty early on, Darumi getting the worst of it where she is admittedly begging for attention by dropping tidbits like her dad beating her or feeling suicidal and Takumi either straight up ignores her or thinks to himself "Can she stop already"
which is why a Darumi romance happening outside Retsnom feels impossible to me. Takumi is unexpectedly bitchy.

Plus every day there's a new advancement in the murdering each other plot so there's not enough time for a character to start a fight for no reason like Kurara and the curry, sometimes a character will do something stupid but it's always to advance the plot or kill someone

Beat all the endings, regretted it, straight up ass, they ran out of time and budget so they simply released what they had.
The game needed a true ending path after the 100 paths with the still yet unrevealed twists of the story:
-Revive,Food, Gift-o-matic are all Restnom, with the implication that they don't actually come back to life upon death, they get replaced with a new version of themselves with backed up memory.
-They fucking die upon reaching the satellite, everytime, but after each route Sumino rewinds time.
-The old lady and the silver machine able to travel horizontally and vertically (likely an actual spacetime travel machine), and whatever she does with Kako3.
-Eito's glitch, if you turn this one on its head ir may be that it's not Eito that's faulty but everyone else, with the final implication that the entire party was turned by the Kamukura hospital people into monsters prior to landing on Futurum, but don't know.
They ultimate didn't commit to this one but the groundwork for this one is laid.
-The bees in Killing game, what the fuck was that... and the Killing game in the first place, why the fuck was it happening, why would Kako-G if she was the first sponsor send the party die far away instead of close by if her goal was to create more dead bodies for her fellow G'is.

For a game that sacrificed its gameplay for its story, it sets up a lot of things but tells none, give me back my time/10.

It makes complete sense, Darumi/Retsnom possess all their properties and so do they, from there it's not far fetched to assume the SDU kids were fed to some Retsnom the satellite humans found around the time they stole Shion from Futurum, fed the Retsnom food, random items and... the SDU before getting hidden inside contraptions like the gift-o-matic and the infirmary before the SDU deployment and mission start.

At least it's way better than not addressing immortality and infinite production of food as the plot points they should be in the first place.

We already know humanity spent years in the war with Futurum before sending the SDU, the timeframe to capture a Retsnom, subdue it without having it take the satellite over, feed it things and send it to the SDU is large.
Besides none of these people except Nozomi know actual people, and besides only Takumi and Darumi encounter Retsnom, and neither of them connect the dots, but Darumi did bring back dead people, Eito first then the rest of the SDU after killing them all.
It's more a case of the Satellite sending things so long as they are functional and praying that everything goes ok, war times create emergency situations after all.

The gameplay is sacrificed to serve the story to the point where the actual final boss in SDA is just a glorified interactive cutscene, and the story you get in exchange either doesn't work because the writers were retarded here and there, or the writers didn't go through all the way with the setup plot points, or the characters are for half of them unidimental tards that do both but bloat interactions and play time (Takemaru, Kyoshika, Kurara, Gaku, Moko, Shouma, Eito (yes on retrospect he is a retard and a failed Nagito), Ima, Yugamu, Vehxness).
All in all the gameplay isn't good and the story was retarded, goddamit, at least Sirei's bgm is kino.

The objective roadmap for the best experience is to gun for either the pregnant Eva, or Kyoshika marriage confession endings. These are equally the true endings. The others are, of course, Naruto filler that you can safely skip.

I think it would've made less sense to keep them in their capsules until they were adults when they could have been fighting much sooner, i.e. late teens. Could a Darumi romance route happen not off Retsnom but somewhere off of one of the "kill Eito" side routes? There Takumi's pariah loser status could be more enforced at some point, and maybe Darumi could be saved or encouraged to live in some other way?

I think that might be the easiest way to fit it in the narrative without forcing anything too much. The only issue would be that kill Eito Darumi appears to be afraid/suspicious of Takumi and then also was seemingly very interested in actually playing the killing game. I don’t think Retsnom Darumi would actually be down for it so perhaps the more oppressive atmosphere of kill Eito routes in fact make her not as caring to the group. At least until she killed Hiruko during KG and then she seemingly wanted to help people but beforehand she’s too different.
