What's so novel about shiny Pokemon?
They are not hidden or secret. They are no super boss you have to beat. They don't have special stats. Most of the shinies even look uglier than their normal version. All of that PLUS it can take ages for you to find a specific Pokemon shiny "legit".

I caught it, but I never used it.
I also spent one or maybe two weeks in Pokemon X trying to find a shiny Honedge because I thought Aegislash was cool, but I eventually realized that Aegislash just wasn't tactically a very good pokemon.
I can't remember if I ended up finding a shiny one before that or not. Either way, I know that Aegislash never became part of my main team.
