Be me, coder for 7 years
Company starts trying out AI coding tools out of curiosity
Determine they're useful, but they're way overhyped
Useful for repetitive or simple stuff here n there, but AI is currently too retarded to do anything even slightly complex
Decide to update Linkedin with the fact I can AI code out of boredom
5 Billion messages, lots of offers after interviews
Job jump twice, now making 65k more than i did before
I'm now wildly overpaid because of a marketing gimmick that boosts my productivity by about 5%
Doomsday fags will deny this all day but AI coding is a massive marketing gimmick where companies with deep pockets are buying the hype thinking they will skyrocket productivity.
My advice to anyone that can code right now, is fuck around with Microsoft co-pilot for a few hours, add it to your resume/LinkedIn, then watch companies suddenly beg you for coding positions with very high pay.
