There's a local mode where player can be a little helper but its not a full 2 player mode where they have their own progression. They have to stay on your screen

though usually only one combat Life and then all gathering/crafting Lives to max with it
In the first game you leveled them in groups because you had to distribute stats and pay to respec. So when you leveled mage you should also be leveling alchemist since they both want intelligence. But it looks like stats are gone so you can just do what you want. You will still need to do multiple jobs at a time since you will need to gather materials to craft gear for your combat jobs which will help you get other material.

Looking back at the original trailer when Inafune was in control and all the playtesters hated the game it makes a lot of sense why Level 5 had to delay fucking everything and get every studio involved to fix the game.

They massively increased the scale of the game when they got rid of Inafune. Originally it wasn't going to have an open world or any kind of movement options like wall climbing.
There's two worlds. The present world which is a bunch of islands and where you build your town and the past which is a giant open world continent. There's also something called the depths but nobody knows what it actually is.
Damn this is exactly the game I've been wanting to play recently but that price is huge. I'll probably still get it after holding out a week.
Depends if you want to experience each life gradually or to only live 1 and plow through the rest.
Though the game will likely feel really drawn out if you level them all alongside each other.
I'd get all gathering lives at least. Those are particularly annoying to have to backtrack and level from scratch later, especially if your reason for doing so is that you need the materials for the relevant crafting profession.

Although, this specific ACS has been known to work on Deck if the devs enable it. So I'm just not sure overall.

I loved the first one, it is one of the only two games I bought for my 3ds, but FLi being digital-only on the Switch, means I will be skipping it.
