Its a bit of an exaggeration in the OP, but I do feel that player expression through meaningful choices is quite lacking in games. Players should have widely different experiences if they're picking different classes. Like a classic fantasy dungeon diving party for example. The thief shouldn't play like the warrior. The warrior shouldn't play like the mage. pressing left click to swing the sword/shoot an arrow/shoot a fireball is still just pressing left click for damage.
