How can they get away with this? We dont live in the PS2 era anymore. This feels so dated.
No achievement system
Maybe the whole reason why Switch sold so many units - and is 2nd best selling game system, just below PS2 - is because it doesn't have trophies and achievements system.
You might be onto something, OP.
No achievement system
Fuck yeah!
It hasnt even beaten the DS yet. You know damn well you would rather have a trophy system than not one. Rent free
I dont really care about achievements, but I would actually like to hear why Nintendo don't do them outside of some in-game first party stuff.
You know damn well you would rather have a trophy system than not one
Actually, I woudn't.
And wtf did you mean by "rent free"? Are you one of those people who buy "games" such as Ny Name is Mayo?
It sits rent free in your head. Every tendie out there gets salty when they hear about Playstations uhh, you know, actual tangible system-wide reward and accomplishment system. Like seriously. You can look back on it in 10 years and have a laugh at the clip and how you played it. Or completionists can be encouraged further and actually feel rewarded. Why the fuck would you rather not have something than have it? It can only be beneficial.
But wouldn‘t it be better for them to add one because then trophy hunters would play the games longer, retard?
I turn trophy/achievement notifications off on steam and my PS4. I don't look at them or care about them.
Why would I give a fuck about how much time an autist wastes on a single game, nigger?
I guess this is the part where I say that can't be a tendie because I have 3 gaming systems connected to my TV now or even take a pic of them. Then I say how my last played game was E33 on PS5 and you'll change your tune to "akshually, I am a PC master race dude". I've seen it countless times.
you know, actual tangible system-wide reward and accomplishment system
Stop typing like this ffs.
A lot of them have their own built in "achievement" systems..
From the top of my head there are the bewitchments in Bayo 1 2 and 3, the billion achievements in XCX, the medals in Super Mario Wonder and the bulletin board achievements in Fire Emblem Engage.
Nintendo will never add an achievement system because it would show how many people buy their games and never finish them.
Im a PS5 only guy who is considering a Switch actually. I dont like how PC fags approach gaming in the slightest. So this is coming straight from a console man. But what were you actually getting at?
I gotta show everyne my gamer cred!
But what were you actually getting at?
That the best selling gaming systems don't have achievements and/or trophies? This is what I said in my first post, after which you had a meltdown.
Well a device without them can still sell more because it might have a greater trade off benefit but jesus why dont they have the decency to do it? It feels like youre going back in time. It should be standard.
Why would they even care?
It feels like youre going back in time
Good
I don't mind achievements and sometimes do them, but why are achievementfags such pissbabies?
NOOOO THAT GAME DOESN'T HAVE ACHIEVEMENTS NOOOOOOOOOOOOO
Alright then go buy a car with manual windows, manual transmission, no AC, no airbags, no seatbelts, no lights, etc. Go do it if going back in time is a good thing
Achievements are padding and they don't contribute new content, except for the Sakurai achievement system, which is actually good because it unlocks content.
It's bad optics when people see that only 5% of players have beat a game like BotW. It's giving people a way to shit talk their games for no reason.
Because unlike tendies they actually play real games with content
It's bad optics when people see that only 5% of players have beat a game like BotW
Nintendo doesn't give a flying fuck what anyone thinks
It's giving people a way to shit talk their games
There's plenty of real reasons to shit talk their games, not having a pop-up for collecting all 1000 boar anuses is completely irrelevant.
Well, if you ask me - and you're not, but I'll still say it - the whole achievement system needs a complete revamp. Any game that has achievements or trophies should be at least 10 hours long, so no more "git your plat in 15 mins" bullshit, a game should not have more than 50 achievements in total (including possible DLC achievements), when playing PS5 versions of an existing PS4 games you should not be allowed to "duplicate" or transfer your trophies, and any person with a gamer card should NOT be allowed to hide games from his or hers list.
inb4 but why
Because I say so.
You started the game: ACHIEVEMENT GOT
You passed chapter 1: ACHIEVEMENT GOT!
You saved the game: ACHIEVEMENT GOT!
You rested at a safe spot: ACHIEVEMENT GOT!
You are just a dopamine addicted retard.
Those things all have practical purposes
If you think achivements in a video game are comparable to seatbelts in a car then you're one of biggest retards to ever post on Anon Babble
You started the game: ACHIEVEMENT GOT
The irony is that even some games have that, like Hyperdimension Neptunia for example.
It would be a great way to find out just how many Nintendo fans actually play the games they buy.
Trophies are sometimes as much of a game as the game itself. The fact is, is that it shouldnt be missing at all. These companies are worth so much there is no excuse other than being a bitch to not have it. It would even get children more hooked on their games.
Not many. Its a lot of children who chew on stuff and break stuff. Id be surprised if 10% of players got past the first hour.
Please, I need to be told how to have fun at a game.
Zoomers are like crack addicts when it comes to achievements lmao.
Thank God for that. Only place I see this kind of complaint is trannyera.
They HAVE to prove they are good at vídeogame and show everyone.
I respect all games that actively mock achievements like Deltarune or Stanley Parable, because it shows how stupid this mandatory stuff is.
GOOD
snoys coming up with increasingly retarded reasons to hate switch 2
You love to see it.
nobody gives a shit about achievements. people claimed to be bloodborne experts even when they never got past the 2nd boss, as proven by said achievments. it's like speedrunner settings, nobody gives a rat ass about it.
I liked the Wii U stamp system.
But you just proved why achievements are good. You can check and see if someone is living up to what they claim
oh yeah, I guess those technically did count as achievements in certain games.
You know you would rather have one than not, Anon.
Bookmarking this thread just in case Nintendo introduces some kind of similar system and see if the reactions are the same.
I don't need a set of jingling keys to keep my interest in a game.
not buying switch 2 because of this
Its funny to see when the snoy cucks get so assmad about zoomer things, lmao.
Literally only zoomers care about achievements
I was 12 when the 360 came out and I never gave a shit because there's never been a good reason TO care. Achievements were made fun of almost instantly, pic related
muh cheevos
Some images age like wine.
The top 3 selling systems of all time, PS2, DS, Switch ALL don't have achievement systems, coincidence? i think not.
I'm sure the Switch already has an achievement system, doesn't it. I see no reason why the Switch 2 wouldn't have it.
If it didn't have it, that's a good thing though.
"Achievements" shouldn't be some platform-tied thing. That's retarded and unironically makes both videogames and the people who play them worse.
If a game was to genuinely benefit from having "achievement"-like challenges in their games, then the devs ought to add "achievements" in-game. And many do. But if don't, then they shouldn't be bullied by some fucking platform-standard to force it anyway.
Nintendo is never gonna add achievements because they don't believe in forcing devs to add systems to all their games. Nintendo's culture, for the most part, is extremely pro-dev, so they leave decisions like "whether or not to have achievements" up to the devs themselves.
I'm sure the Switch already has an achievement system, doesn't it.
It doesn't, some games on Switch can have their own achievement list but that's it.
Good, achievements are for autistic retards. Might as well play Ubislop at this point if you need random ass checklists to play a game.
There's nothing stopping devs from implementing an achievement system within the game itself.
Because DS was super cheap portable with lots of revisions. I went through 3 DS's and only one Switch since cheap yet notable upgrades are fine for shit that's always in my pocket.
So you mean they just have the games implement their own list for achievements, without a unified Switch OS interface and API?
I wouldn't have thought, but I like it.
I'm unable to enjoy the game unless I see funny number go up
achievements are the antithesis of content
used to be you got a cool doodad for 100%ing a game that gave you a unique weapon or unlimited energy or big heads or something
now you get a "you did it!"
People don't actually care about achievements, right? Right?
there's a whole generation of kids who have had achievements on all their games since they were old enough to be aware. and not even the kind of achievements that came with in game rewards, just straight up "you did thing! here's some Xbox points that make your gamer score go up!"
This feels so based.
FTFY
Normies seething about cheevos/trophies
Lmao
normalfags cheering for achievements/trophies
it's not lolworthy, it's just sad.
I like achievements just to see game completion percentages
Why would I even want them? Most achievements are only for completing the regular progression of the game, the exception being the self imposed challenges and I don't need an achievement to do a 3 heart run on Zelda or something like this
Having thousands of hours played in an obscure but soulful game > getting 100% and never playing the game again
