Minecraft, home

Minecraft, home.

Cool house

how do i get good at building? all my houses are cubes of dirt or cobblestone

I gave up making houses and just build underground everytime

Nothing comfier than an underground base

why is this so pleasant to look at
i hate those modern textures

Pretty much every time I play minecraft I find a nice surface cave to live in. Bonus points if it's a kind of arch with two entrances I can block up to create an enclosed space. Sometimes I like to build a house on a big hill, and then hollow out the hilltop a basement and have basement exits sort of like hobbit holes.

sharper textures and brighter colours I would guess

beta

fucking zoomers
minecraft truly died when they added ambient occlusion to it

I don't know what it is about this image but it's super comfy

i get bored fast of that game but i have a world and made the twin towers

I like to build houses in mountains. Does that count as underground? The house is in the side of the mountain but with windows that face the outdoors.

I prefer the old lighting.

Same. When did they finally change that again? Beta 1.8 or something?

if this came out any other time it wouldnt have been anything but a game of the week
but now the laziest developers of the age have the most sold game of all time

you mean when they made it look good?

Yeah, I miss this. Minecraft died just around when they changed this.

blud is highkey right no cap

minecraft truly died

I don't think it died, it's got a lot of different appeal for different groups. Autistic teenagers and small children got the spotlight for a long time with weird pvp modes, I don't get that at all but it held their attention for some reason.

The game's aged really well with mod support and theres basically something for everyone, especially people who enjoy the "traditional" gameplay of minecraft and want something to expand on that. I don't keep up with it, but I assume the games doesn't get a lot of active development anymore from the devs, but I would argue it doesn't matter any more

Where shadies are though, sir?

Look at people builds for inspiration and use real life reference photos.

If you're literally shit at building, you could try to copy and interpret their style. Then you can transfer the concepts into an original build project.

1.7.png - 1920x1080, 1.47M

it got refined a lot but it didnt added too much, terrain generation was a big one, hell was expanded a lot.
i played a lot of it when hell was only the red biome but now there are a lot of them and its a lot harder .

but i dont enjoy the mining aspect in any way so i stopped playing, its too open ended , i think its more enjoyable exploring servers and discovering other peoiple constructions but limited render distance of multiplayer ruins it.

they had really good marketing thats for sure, they made people publicize their product for free.

but yea, it got a bit carried away in the indie fad of 2010 AND the open world one. its still a cool game that mix different cool ideas like dinamic world generation and mining like how many mining games were popular at that time??? its unique thats for sure , it succes wasnt an accident

there's also vintage story, which is kind of similar but kind of different. I've never played it but my understanding is a bit more of a 'sim' type of game with a focus on mechanical immersion and difficulty

They downgraded it in beta 1.8 and butchered it in release 1.7
They've been trying to unfuck it lately (slowly) and brought back old fog from beta

fog.jpg - 2767x1797, 635.55K

do i play brtter than adventure, vanilla beta 1.7.3 or b1.7.3 with mods

like 90% of minecraft nostalgia is just for the old color palette.

builds need depth

after that anything else goes

I think the best part about Minecraft are the machines and farms you can build.

I am correct in saying that pistons changed everything about farms, right?

brightness max

what a bitch

I liked the older world gen. I didnt care for the textures at any point, I used a texture pack the moment people started making them. DokuRPG was cool

Build a house and then what???

This house has people in it

Keep building until you have a whole world with many years worth of creations on it

nta
I have a 1.10.2 world where I used to play with my friends. After they stopped playing, I decided I would build something(however small) every season, so if we played again someday, there would be things to explore for them.
Now I know that day will never come, but I still hold that world dear.

This is what it looked like before my ret*rd friend lured a creeper to the frontdoor again :D

I've not played Minecraft since my first girlfriend broke up with me. What mods are worth checking out? I created a server via Fabric

017.png - 1280x1680, 1.7M

just add stairs, slabs, and trapdoors around the base of walls and pillars and shit, Big windows always look nice and make it so you dont have to overdesign a large wall.

but I assume the games doesn't get a lot of active development anymore from the devs

It's actually being updated more now than ever before. They recently switch from their yearly/biyearly large releases and are now doing multiple smaller updates throughout the year. Recently they just added a pale oak forest biome, the white wood looks amazing in the right builds. Some of the recent updates are mad retarded though, like the archeology shit and Netherite being locked behind it.

Also modpacks are known to hit multiple millions in downloads, games definitely far from dead

thats because minecraft is what every other Game of the Week tries to copy. its the best sold game for a reason

obligatory

b1.7.3 with mods. it was the bronze age that set the stage for every mod to come after

Why did they take the nice green out?

all the mods 9 and just do whatever you want

something between 1.5 and 1.8 should be perfect

Brother just download one of the modlaunchers, either curseforge or modrinth are the most popular but there are others like ATLauncher, and just download a modpack on there, let someone do the work of configuring hundreds of mods for you. If you just want to jump into the deep end of what modding can offer start with one of the ATM modpacks, but those are what is called a kitchensink pack since its just hundreds of mods thrown together with no real goal outside of a questbook showing you through some of the packs. There are other much more focused modpacks as well.

have you tried practicing and looking at other people's builds?

Man, beta has such nice, deep greens and browns to the grass blocks, fuck me.

you guys realize you can make even modern minecraft look like this by just downloading a single file right?

depends what you want
fabric is probably the better choice for getting back into it/trying new stuff, it's easier to develop for so many of the new ideas and mods are made there compared to forge

archeology

dogshit, they should really abort that abomination, rest of the stuff is ok but inconcecuential, archeology mechanics are the most tedious and non minecraft thing in the game. totally disconnected from the rest of the mechanics and boring as fuck.

what do you gain from it?? armor trim??? they were bloatmaxing that season

you develop an eye for how to make stuff by just looking at all sorts of different builds over time. as well as just repeatedly making stuff on your own and trying new things. you can also just recreate existing things from real life or other games, that's what I did here.

Neat build bro

Is hoplite still the most skill full pvp mode?

microsoft deleted my alpha minecraft account from 2009 because i didnt play for a few years

you need to make the brush and find a bastion in the nether, where you then need to find suspicious sand randomly embedded in a wall somewhere and clean it for a chance at the netherite forge tablet in order to go from diamond to nether items now

A few years ago they transitioned away from their old account structure, they were trying to spread the word for like two years leading up to it that if you don't transition your account by a certain date you'll lose it. Still retarded but that's your explanation

Friendly reminder that Minecraft doesn't need mods to be fun.

but I didn't play since like 2020. they deleted it so people will buy again at full price. why not just automatically migrate them?

No problem nigga, got more pics?

it doesn't but they massively improve it. I'll never give up my farming mods. After adding the retarded food mechanic they could have at least given us more than 10 types of food with only two of them ever actually be used by players.

i love those layered banners to make a long one, very clever will steal

I can't remember if I found that out through a youtube video but yeah it's a great way to create the illusion of a long tapestry or banner. Shame it deloads out of view eventually. The stained glass windows I picked up from a youtube video for sure

Good shit dude.

wow those windows look really nice, are those vanilla colors?

hell yeah thanks. the bridge isn't my build but the tower is in this one.

I think so. it's blue and red stained glass and behind it is a gradient of wool from red to orange I think.

*red to purple for the wool actually

damn alright i might have to mess around with that a little, it really makes the windows pop, i usually always skip the colored glass cause i dont like how pale it looks but that looks really nice

the issue with doing it like that is you obviously won't be able to see out it and it's for purely aesthetic reasons, but yeah it looks cool!

it is not as """""realistic"""""

This

coloured glass is a great block. i rarely ever use normal glass because coloured ones add just a little bit of colour for no effort, usually i use like white, grey, brown and such for normal house buildings and it looks a lot better

Because they wanted to force you into signing brand new TOS and linking your account to Microsoft's, which I'm pretty sure is illegal, and if somehow not, should be. M$jang stole your money, ruined the game, never delivered on long promised features, and added gay nigger worship to splashes as a final "Fuck you"

joining world

game crashes

I actually just went to microsoft support and they gave me a new minecraft copy. still gay i had to jump through hoops

I suppose you had a Microsoft account and already signed their TOS before the migration. I have read that they do give you a copy in this scenario

I'd call them "underhill" because they are definitely not under ground level

Yeah maybe that was why. But my original account was definitely deleted and it's still bullshit. You know most people will just give up and buy it again

Cool, thanks for posting man. Gonna go since I'm tired as shit but I'll be looking at your builds again.
Cheers.

why didn't they make fighting enemies fun? and have them drop cool items like weapons with cool effects. and maybe some bosses to fight, instead of just the one.
i feel like there's a game that does this correctly, its on the tip of my tongue...

The key thing that helps me with building is understanding that it will take way more blocks than you think it will. It will also take a lot of time. Everything else people say is good too but you need a lot of stuff to make something look good instead of only 3 stacks of cobble.
