He deserved it.
He deserved it
Honestly yeah. Dude was keeping way too many secrets from the group.
hourly Maellefag schizo mental breakdown
Not like he could tell them, last time he was tortured hard.
Also you don't just tell people
yeah, you are not real and I'm using you so you can die and my mom can finally fuck off and rest
I said dance.
He just needed to not get Gustave killed and hand Maelle the letter from painted Alicia. That's it
Sing us a song
You're the piano man
last time he was tortured hard
He was tortured not because he told the truth but because he lied as always. Verso can't breathe without lying.
Best part is this Verso clearly ages like everyone else does so he even lost his nepo immortality. He's just there to be a clown.
Hit it Verso!
youtube.com
Got a hah outa me.
how many threads do you astroturf losers need
All of them
Remember when Your dad took away your pc when you were a kid because he wanted you to go hang out with your friends instead of being a loser all day and you were really mad about it?
He just wanted you to not grow up as an autist
explain this image
hot goddess gives you immortality, unlimited cash and Brad Pitt looks
NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!! KILL ME NOW !!!!
balatro
not get Gustave killed
Not his problem.
hand Maelle the letter from painted Alicia
Actively working against his own interests. Abd going by Alicia's conversation when she tells him she read the letter, she agrees. There's no point in telling Maelle she's not real and more fake than everyone else.
Abd going by Alicia's conversation when she tells him she read the letter, she agrees.
She wasn't Maelle by the time she read the letter and it was after the paintress was ejected
plin plin plon
And all it achieved was me hating him and sending him to rot in a nursing home for the rest of his life. What a great achievement lmao, he tried to dictate my life now I dictate the rest of his.
Maelle is Alicia.
Alicia wouldn't like doing something that kills her mom.
If she had done something retarded she'd actually be mad about it.
And the last thing you need is a teenager having an existential crisis.
I'm not saying they wouldn't have still kicked out the paintress. But it would have changed how she went about it, since if they went after Renoir first and then Aline everyone wouldn't have been gommaged.
muh sims
muh drugs
muh maelle and alicia are two seperate people
Vero is a lying treacherous bastard, a pathological liar and a two faced snake. He is Marche if he was a dishonest manipulating cunt that made everyone's lives worse.
my wife is seeing hallucinations and shes addicted to drugs, im trying to help her
ummm no, just no, shes grieving ok chud, how about you just be a decent human being.
Not to mention having Gustave around would have made stuff a lot easier, including fucking Renoir and the Paintress. Gustave was strong as fuck, he legit "killed" Painted Renoir in one attack and canonically had the potential to achieve much more as seen in his Skill Tree.
ignore the actual plot and worldbuilding of the game to focus on muh themes
That's why you live and die by contrived analogies
if they went after Renoir first
Then they lose because he can just gommage them all for real except for verso.
The reason they can even best the paintress is because she won't do just that.
Then they lose because he can just gommage them all for real except for verso.
He can't. It's not been a year yet.
Then they lose because he can just gommage them all for real except for verso.
If the Paintress was alive she would have protected them from Renoir
IMO He was fence sitting until he met an an expedition that actually succeeded. He actually got pretty close to Expedition 57. Until they started heeming Axons, he didn’t appear to believe that recruiting the real Maelle would increase his chances of defeating the paintress any more than other expeditions would.
my wife is leaking paint from the pores on her face while coughing her lungs out and we both know exactly why its happening, in fact she warned me about this years ago and said every day we spend in here has a price
ummm no, neglecting your health and family in favour of made up people is a perfectly normal part of the grieving process and your daughter also needs to do the same.
They didn't spend 60 hours developing and fleshing out the characters for you to go "yeah they should get all killed they don't matter". Fucking retard.
They matter.
They are also dead no matter what you do so let's save Alicia.
Lune and Sciel aren't dead
paint is not flesh, after it was revealed they were just figments of pigment their lives became less valuable than that of a goldfish
She should be leaking my cum from her pussy instead.
They are also dead no matter what
They literally aren't if that faggot Painted Verso is stopped. Let them go back to their fucking Pre Fracture lives, they didn't deserve these Greek gods pissing contest.
Nonsense conclusion, misses the themes, contradicted within the game.
The maelle ending showed the "people" are nothing more than puppets, they only have agency until it becomes inconvenient for their creator
For those who come after, right?
UHMMM ACKTUALLY... I SAD SO THOSE WHO COME AFTER SHOULD DIE ALONGSIDE ME HURRR
Never thought I'd get to see unironic Marche apologists.
Painted Verso doesn't deserve free will. He deserves to be conscious about his situation, but forced to stay in the piano. Fucking genociding piece of shit.
Also no, if that was the case, Renoir or The Paintress could have just mind controlled the painted people into doing their bidding and stopping the Expeditions altogether.
What do you think happens the moment Alicia dies/is about to due in the real world?
I know thinking about the future is hard for some people, but it's really evident the canvas is doomed.
Alicia isn't the anchor of that universe, it's Verso's soul.
The Paintress could have just mind controlled the painted people into doing their bidding and stopping the Expeditions altogether.
They can't because they are fighting each other and trapped each other. All Renoir can do is gommaging.
What do you think happens to the family after they say goodbye to Verso in the real world?
Yeah, and what do you think her father will do?
They can't because they are fighting each other and trapped each other
She didn't do it at the end of Act II.
READ YOUR FUCKING SENTENCE. This game is fucking ASS.
Painted Alicia
CANVAS LOL
PAINTERS
PAINTRESS
FUCK THIS GAME
They start getting over it, as their ending cutscenes showed.
Take a chill pill
Why do you think her father is even alive at that point? They are having a clan war outside the Canvas, 2 vs who knows how many.
He can't. It's not been a year yet.
He literally gommages everyone after the group beat the paintress even though "it hasn't been a year yet". Considering that Renoir + Clea is enough power to slowly whittle Aline down, its not an unsafe assumption that Renoir would be able to gommage the handful of people that consist of e33, and the yearly thing is just him being able to remove everyone of the specici age.
Why not just letting him die?
Alicia goes into another Painting? Writers kill more of them? Why is one ending clouded with only bad what ifs and the other rainbows and happiness?
If you think the family dies, then the writers burn the house and their canvas down.
Not helping your case.
after the group beat the paintress
You literally said why he could do that LOL.
At least Marche was honest and sincere with his goals. Verso is a lying manipulating cunt that actively made the situation worse.
There could have been an outcome with the canvas intact, the family alive and his suicidal ass erased, he just fucked it all up
Keep reading, anon.
in the end, Renoir was the only person that was right
unironically the only one that acutally loved his family and wasnt selfish narcissist
There could have been an outcome with the canvas intact
There isn't one because even if Renoir doesn't destroy the painting, soul verso is tired and doesn't wanna paint anymore after his little fantasy land got turned into a warzone.
Because one is framed with depression and Alicia being deluded and the other has a whole family facing a hard event together.
Alicia goes into another Painting?
No issues there, the game tells you the addiction is due to it being verso's.
Writers kill more of them?
They had to target Alicia, which means they can't deal with Renoir/Aline/Clea.
Marche was right about everything
I didn't say the family I said Renoir. He's clearly the weakest link between him and Clea. Clea couldn't give less of a shit if Alicia and her mother stay in the Canvas, she said so herself.
Alicia was an easy target because she also loves writing
I mean just go back into the manor and look at her room
There could have been an outcome with the canvas intact,
Nope, as long as Alicia was in the canvas there wasn't.
She won't ever leave it.
soul verso is tired and doesn't wanna paint anymore after his little fantasy land got turned into a warzone
That's not the people of Lumiere's fault that's the Painters'.
I said Renoir.
If Renoir dies then at that point the family is dead already. Clea can't support a whole war on her own and Aline is fucked by the canvas existing and wanting to go inside.
Maelle also wrote in Gustave's Journal all the time
So the sequel is about Alicia joining the Writers lmao.
Soul Verso appreciates the lives of all painted creations, even Aline's humans. He's tired of his family causing so much grief and pain in his canvas.
You can't convince me that real Renoir and Gustave with the Lumina converter couldn't have talked it out and convinced Maelle/Alicia to take it easy and don't stay in Lumiere 24/7, that both her families love her, then kick out Aline together.
Maxwell from Scribblenauts killed the real Verso, they never had a chance.
sequel? lmao dude
dont hold your breathe
even if the game was a success, it took ages to make
That's not the people of Lumiere's fault that's the Painters'.
Of course, but
1) Lumiere and its people aren't his creation, it's Aline's.
2) As we saw in the Verso ending, Soul Verso choosing to cease painting causes the inhabitants to die, be it the ones Aline painted or the ones Verso himself painted.
Her dad already failed to convince her and she values Gustave LESS than Verso and being together with him for the rest of her life.
Alicia can't be reasoned with because she doesn't want to go back.
If Renoir dies then at that point the family is dead already. Clea can't support a whole war on her own
That is going to depend at which part of the war Renoir dies, if he does die. Too many variables but the fact of the matter is Renoir is also an old fuck and Alicia's ending doesn't show anyone coming to drag her out so either everyone's too busy with the war or Renoir died or he simply chose to trust that Alicia will come out eventually.
what do you think happens to a painting when it is finished?
the manor is full of finished paintings after all
they only have agency until it becomes inconvenient for their creator
There are people IRL who believe in God/Allah/whatever who is their infinite superior and can influence their lives at any moment.
Yet, they still think they have free will and don't rope instantly because they will never surpass God.
Her dad already failed to convince her
Her dad failed because he wanted to genocide, just like Painted Verso. They are both fucking retards not giving a choice.
How the endings are presented has nothing to do with theorizing where things go once the credits roll. Verso's ending can just as easily end in total misery and grief just like Maelle's.
Renoir got lost in another Painting before, nothing to do with Verso. Painters can't help themselves.
This is based on extremely little. Its just as likely Alicia tried to Write and it backfired on her and Verso. The Writers may have nothing to do with the loss and war perpetuates for no reason.
But real Verso's soul would remain and (presumably, without the constant war) continue happily painting the world. That's what both Alicia and Aline want, who cares about painted Verso? If Painted Verso was the issue, they could have repainted him in any other canvas.
NOOOOO! I have to spend eternity bonding with my little sister who loves me! AHHHH I DON'T WANT THIS SAVE ME RENOIR
Gustave
The game had an unexplored thread that could have been interesting to see, which is that Gustave REALLY hates creations of the paintress. We see this with his failed attempt at finishing off the 2nd area boss. Lune told him to stop attacking because it was peaceful and only wanted to protect the flowers, but ultimately Gustave still tried to gun it down because it was a paintress creation. It would have been nice to see how he'd react to the fact that he himself is a paintress creation.
Aline dies
Maelle dies
Renoir and Clea get killed by the writers
You can make the argument this is the best ending because it is maximizing suffering for the painters.
based writerGOD
A gustave route would be kino
another Gustard highly overvaluing the Lumina Converter
Ah yes, the Lumina Converter will make Alicia willingly leave her fantasy and break the illusion that her brother is still alive and she didn't actually kill him.
They are both fucking retards not giving a choice.
dad I want to kill myself in this canvas
No!
Yeah, let's blame Renoir and not the girl with zero self control who's deluded enough to think painted Verso is her brother.
she is 16
who lets 16 year olds make life changing decisions
That nigger let Gustave die.
Maelle killed his family then forced him to play piano for the people he helped kill.
Fuck Verso.
Liberals.
Lumina converter lets Sciel use an infinite turn built and then what is Maelle gonna do huh?
Maelle is out?
Burn the Canvas!
Well done.
Hide the fucking thing? There are much better ways of making her see reason than telling WE GENOCIDE XDDD, like what the fuck kind of answer do you expect from such stupidty? YES PLEASE PAPAN KILL ALL MY FRIENDS LOL?
You are an idiot Versofag. The lumina converter is the only reason the characters achieve shit. Verso could not beat the dualist. All of sudden 3 bitches with Gustaves invention show up and you can junction 20 pictos and win
Renoir and Aline should have stayed in the burning house. The kids didn't deserve any of it, they got indoctrinated into abusing their painting powers by their parents.
yeah they can come every now and then, but if she or her mom has another woman moment, just kick her ass out
Is it hard?
I can't believe retards argue so much over this dumb story. The painter family issues are fucking retarded shit that could all be resolved by simple conversation but they don't talk to eachother or try once then resort to genocide.
I warmed up to that piece of shit during Act II as well only for him to try to ruin all my efforts TWICE.
Like I even feel bad for Renoir and understand Verso's burning sacrifice, but dude, fucking threatening to erase all the people I grew to care about is not the fucking answer. I'd kill Verso 10000 over rather than letting Lune die.
I forgot that sometimes you might read a 18 year olds opinions in here
but they don't talk to eachother or try once then resort to genocide.
It makes sense diegetically if their guild has normalized demiurge powers so much that they consider the erasure of entire worlds of people as trivial as emptying the trash can.
Hide the fucking thing?
There's no hiding it. Alicia already hid the painting before she went inside it, and Clea, the house prodigy, even said that Alicia's hiding place was clever, but also said that they can't hide it from Aline forever.
I think the only real way to keep the portrait away from the Dessendres would be to give it to someone to go smuggle it out the country, maybe even off the continent.
Wow look at this at 40 year old manchild who still can't talk to his mother. Are you still mad she turned off your playstation?
I warmed up to that piece of shit during Act II as well only for him to try to ruin all my efforts TWICE.
Literally me and same. This asshole just made everything worse for everyone out of his selfish desires and total lack of empathy.
Not only that but Verso very clearly states the Dualist wiped out all of those Expeditioners in that area that looks like a hellscape of corses, yet by the end of the fight he even admits "that Nevron wasn't that strong". Gustave carried their fucking asses even post mortem.
goddess
Demiurge. FTFY
I don’t owe you shit bitch
Now get naked and start dancing
It's the Maellefags who are constantly seething about the endings and making these threads.
16 year old girl brain.
Honestly sounds like hell
There's more than one Duallist. IIRC you see a corpse of one elsewhere in the game.
No the reason they achieve shit is because fucking painters intervening all the way. The barrier? They couldn't do shit until Renoir made them a weapon to break it. Painted Renoir? Would have battled forever if were not for Renoir and Maelle gommaging him. The Paintress? Again, Maelle needed to gommage her to remove her from the painting. Renoir? Alicia couldn't do shit to him with the group. Aline needed to bail them out and then he just shrugged them off and decided to back off when his wife breaks down in real life.
Versofag worships painter handing out macguffin in video game instead of human intiution and strength
No surprise there
Also the sword renoir made sucked
They could tell Aline they burned the Canvas, that woman is too unhinged to let her back ever again. Maelle/Alicia main issue comes from the fact that they want to burn the thing, if they decide not to do that, her chances of leaving go up drastically.
Hey could you stop being a dick?
NOOOOOOOOO YOU HAVE TO COME BACK I'LL GENOCIDE AN ENTIRE WORLD TO FORCE YOU!!!!!!
This is a reminder that Verso is a compulsive liar and a scumbag. His father's perception of his son is entirely based on his lying tendencies, not on the painted Verso but the real Verso. This means that even when he was alive, he was constantly lying to his father, so Alines' painted version of him inherited his worst qualities. I don't think we learn exactly what Verso was lying about.
this should be a dlc
Expedition 60 and 70 made it past the Barrier. I'm sure Gustave would have found a way.
game shows painter body just stands infront of canvas.
Here's a crazy idea. Just move the bitch away from it and stick some smelling salts up her nostrils. The scenario is so dumb.
Do they shit themselves while painting?
Does Clea havr to feed and bathe them?
Gustave probably would have helped Verso into kicking all the painters out of the canvas, but keeping True Verso in it as the only condition.
The cinemasins of Anon Babble users logged on.
it is magic dude
I don't think we learn exactly what Verso was lying about.
Also, Verso's sacrifice looked as spooky as the Maelle ending. I legit thought he had become the villain (he did) when he had that fucking Sephiroth cutscene.
Gustave would have told Verso to tell the truth or fuck off. Lune and Sciel are dumb lonely sluts who just go along with what the only attractive man in the vicinity says
Here's a crazy idea. Just move the bitch away from it and stick some smelling salts up her nostrils
They already moved the painting away from Renoir and Aline when Alicia went in it. They were still in the painting.
they basically set it up for it
I chose the Maelle ending because Gustave, Lune, Sciel and the people of Lumiere deserve to be happy while Verso doesn't.
Saying that human intuition is the only thing that carried them is disingenuous when they literally required divine intervention every step of the way. Note that that human intuition and strength is also the result of a painter.
The barrier could have been created after expedition 70. Expedition 60 is a meme.
based
anyone who disagrees is unironically as retarded as the creator of the original version of this comic
This but unironically.
You could easily flip the perspective on this.
Gustave would have still helped Verso even if reluctantly because kicking out the painters would have brought back the peace to Lumiere. Only True Verso was necessary for the canvas to exist, after all.
Although the last fight probably would have been Gustave vs Verso, after the Maelle fight, just to chose the "total destruction" ending or "the save the canvas" ending.
I love how Versofags argue
but Verso and child/soul Verso are not happy
Fuck em
but Alicia will die
Yeah, after living 100 years as a god instead of 50-60 as a one eyed frankenstein mute
Versotroons:
Maelle is LITCHTERALLEE torturing a dead boy's soul FOR ETERNITY
Also versotroons:
LOL the painted peepo will all disappear in a few years when Maelle dies lololol
Verso won.
This is the "The Ones Who Walk Away from Omelas" dilemma all over again.
Expedition 60 is a meme
Cope.
Maellefags are a hivemind.
Imagine FFX but the people of dream Zanarkand (who are way, way less "sentient" than Lumierians since they're stagnant as fuck and are frozen culturally and technologically) were not confirmed to have souls that are sent to the Farplane once the fayth stop dreaming of them, but they actually get straight up erased by the Demiurge and their mind goes to oblivion.
Why are the French like this?
16 year old literally huffs paint until she kills herself in delusions
yaaasssss gurl slaaaaayyyyyy
literally fucking swam to the other continent
what the FUCK the writers were thinking with it kek?
GAINS MOTHERFUCKER
Imagine FFX
Nah, this shit is just FFTA 2.0
The need for tragikino outweighs all.
Truly the modern day version
Also imagine that Sin wasn't threatening an entire civilization, but one (UNA) (1) family of cruel petty gods who brought it upon themselves.
everytime escapism themes show up in media I always think of FFTA, insane how that game's ending utterly broke me
Fixed your Reddit meme. No need to thank me. I know thinking hurts, so it's fine.
people who have never and will never have kids i.e. most of this board
muh themes instead of the actual story
True midwit hours
real family that hates you and wishes you died instead of your gay pathological liar brother
real world where you're an disfigured, barely functioning one-eyed cyclops
fake family that unconditionally loves you and amazing friends that wish for you to be happy
fake world where you are eternally young, pretty and full of energy
The choice is obvious.
Verso?
never heard of him
wake up everyday to your sister's warm smile
she playfully goes through your wardrobe, choosing your outfit for the day
Paints you your favorite meal while you discuss 19th century French Literature over breakfast
Spend the day sightseeing around Lumiere as she takes you to her favorite venues and boutiques
Sing her french lullabies as she lies on your lap, watching the sun set over the Seine
Receive a dozen standing ovations every night for playing a handful of pieces as she showers you with painted roses
Kiss her on the forehead and tuck her into bed
That's it. That's all you have to endure. How is that hell?
real family that hates you
Wait until your streamer gets to the side content before you talk about the game.
Not only you but Anon Babble in general, if not the whole site. It's hilarious to me how much butthurt and debates FFTA causes to this day even if the game itself is just a footnote in the franchise. Truly a case study.
The only one who doesn't hate Maelle is Renoir, but even then he at best just resents her.
t.
The only one who doesn't hate Maelle is Renoir
No one hates Maelle, stop talking shit. They are just worried about her and want to put her into "rehab", even if that means using force.
Just like you should be forced to go to a "work" camp, jew shiller.
and then, not in magic headcanon land where you retards all seemingly live:
see your sister already turning into a faceless monster lost in the painting as your mom and The Curator/Renoir were shown as
she's weaker than Renoir by far, who already was slipping after 67 years
she doesn't have that many left, has already been inside for 16
things get worse and worse as she slips into the same dementia her mom was in prior to that boss fight with her
watch your sister die and be powerless to stop or more like Renoir comes back and finishes what he started with nobody to stop him and that is that
sorry, since you chose the 'ignore reality' ending I understand that asking you to accept the reality shown in the game is a little much
Because Maelle is denying Verso's free will. He doesn't want to be a character in her fanfic
Can you back any of this up? Like with stuff from the game.
Versohomos are just queers
Renoir loves her but thinks he can make her life choices aka control freak.
Clea doesn't give too much a fuck about her and thinks is a liability, would likely rather habe her stay in the Canvas until her MGR:Revengeance arc is over.
Her mother literally hates her and blames her for Verso's death.
no they can't
the masses finish E33
they're paint huffing retards who think trapping the Canvas in a cycle of pain and suffering while Alicia slowly kills herself is a good idea
I picked the Verso ending.
The people of Lumiere never seemed real to me at all.
To me they're no different from the people in my dreams that my subconscious cooks up. Sure they look real and sound real. If my dream has them get mad they sound angry enough. If my dream has them get happy they sound happy enough. But even with all that they're still not real people. When I wake up they're gone.
On a similar note, when Alicia leaves the painting they're gone.
good joob from the developers to add a double ending on a kinda controversial topic as this, this way the game will get talked about for basically forever, literally like the FFTA example shown in the thread
Why do Verso supporters talk about Maelle becoming a 'faceless monster' when Maelle is distinctly just turning into her real life self. The disfigurements in the ending mimic her real life scars.
Genuinely asking. I'm a Versofag myself but for different
reasons.
in a cycle of pain and suffering
PAINTED VERSO CAUSED THIS
FUCKING HELL
these threads were good discussion threads for many days after release
now they're all Maelle Fanfiction Therapy hug threads because everyone with more than 50 IQ is tried of reading made up bullshit that puts shipper trannies to shame
yeah was a good run, have fun larping about Lumiere's future in the Canvas even though you were explicitly told how this ends
Brain damaged fucking idiots lmao
Renoir
Fleeing into your delusions is not a life choice.
Clea
Sends someone to look after her, gives her life advice via the endless tower.
Aline
Is grieving. Still shows affection for her daughter even in her crazed state.
not true, I only see this mass retardation here. Not even Retarddit, home of the Retards is this bad.
IMAGINE being worse than Reddit.
Why do Verso supporters talk about Maelle becoming a 'faceless monster' when
because they played the game and you didn't. Unironically.
LOL
Go die in a canvas
Just not this one
Verso fags.....
You either didn't read my post or need to work on your reading comprehension.
Selfish faggot.
lying about Alicia's abilities to manipulate her
heh
youtube.com
have you tried our Lord and Savior, "Actually playing the game?"
Verso ending theme isn't Closing Time
noooo I can't just hide this painting containing a pocket universe from her, she'll find it!
just donate it to the louvre or something?
t. never did The Reacher
is not a life choice
Neither is genocide.
Sends someone to look after her, gives her life advice via the endless tower.
Exactly, doesn't give too much a fuck and would rather have her stay there until things are done outside.
Is grieving
For 67 years and still hates her.
Maybe one day she'll be good enough to repaint Verso. And then she won't need to because she's dealt with her grief. Sounds like good advice.
I'd just gift it to the writers.
Renoir is screaming at his family (and the audience) to touch grass
Anon Babble rejects this notion
pottery
touch grass while I genocide a pocket universe full of people you grew up with
Fuck him.
I'll try to explain it to you, Maelletard. It might be hard but stick with me. I'll put it in terms you might understand:
you stay you die
you go you no die
you go other paint paint and come out some time you no time
no die here
go other paint paint, all other paint paints
big happy
"touch grass" from boomers sounds like "become a proper slave cuckey cuckity cuck for society goy and be happy"
become a proper slave
so why did you pick the slave ending, retard?
Now you are just projecting
they're not real just like your video game character aren't real
Slave
He says when the other ending is LITERALLY forcing an innocent person to be a slave to a girl's desires
Self awareness you lack.
Vercuck deserves to be a slave for genociding the world once and trying a second time.
Neither is genocide.
Moving goalposts.
doesn't give too much a fuck
Contradicting yourself there. The canvas is a safe place with people looking after her.
For 67 years and still hates her.
And she still cares for her daughter. Feelings are complicated. Reducing them down to just hate and love is doing the story a disservice.
I picked Verso's ending just to minimize the pain.
This is a retarded argument and you should stop using it. Those people are real, sapient, and struggling, and they all died.
innocent
Define innocent.
Bro, they're not real. Have you listened to some of the journal entries? These dumbfucks are straight up looney tunes, and I'm not just talking about expedition 60.
He did nothing wrong.
painted Verso
innocent
lol
humans aren't real because the gods created them
why does the fate of the painted people get people so angry
Maelle was a retarded 16yo throughout the whole story.
i'm not a child anymore
yes you are
i know what it means
no you don't
my life is over, i've got nothing to live for
you're 16 years old, retard
Painted Verso didn't do shit to deserve being forced to keep working on a thing he's tired of doing. That's innocent.
nooooo you can't just use this completely sound argument because.....you just can't okay?!?
correct- you are all worthless nigger cattle NPCs and I am the only human who is actually alive as only I have objective evidence of my own consciousness
I'm a Maellechad but I agree that Verso's ending is very clearly the good one.
At the end of the day, the canvas is killing you, and you need to get over your grief; you need to find closure, which the ending provides.
The reason why I chose the Maelle ending is because it resonates with me as escapism (videogames) has been a huge part of my life and I personally would never toss away something so beloved, just like Maelle. Sorry, Verso.
The painter family members are the real villains. They create worlds with people inside that do have souls as stated by the game itself.
These worlds are absolutely bleak and full of misery. They play around in these worlds until they are tired of it and then kill it off. Thats some "I have no mouth and I must scream" level of suffering they keep creating.
The writeres were right and Maelles ending is the good ending because the painters suffer more.
Genocides a whole universe cuz sad
didn't do shit to deserve being forced to keep working
LOL.
Except for killing an entire universe for his own selfish reasons.
Everyone is stupid except me
Yes, you can't. You invalidate the entire story and the weight of the decisions that need to be done out of idiotic reductionism.
nothing ever happened actually, there was no trolley problem, it's just like deleting my sims!
Not even surface level understanding, that's barely reaching varnish depth.
This is the only Maellefag reasoning I accept
why do manbaby children think their fantasy worlds are real
gee I wonder
Meant Soul Verso, not painted one. The little boy who's little disneyland got turned into crack cocaine by his dumbass mom and sister.
Marchecucks from these threads sound way more stupid than even the Expeditioners from 60.
If they are on the same scale of real as the people outside, why can't they leave the painting? Why can they be erased and brought back to life on the whims of a painter? Are my sims real because they can act autonomously?
Maetard Krytonite is just posting things directly from the game
lmao
they ignore it in true Maelle reality ignoring fashion
LMAO
it's not a trolley problem you dribbling retard, it's a philosophical zombie problem
you're 16 years old, retard
Wouldn't her Gommage come when she is 25 or 26? By that standard she is old as fuck.
my life is over, i've got nothing to live for
you're 16 years old, retard
She's a burn victim and every moment she breathes she's in pain.
Her parents don't give a fuck if she goes right back into her paintings 23/7, as long as it isn't Verso's. There is nothing implying she'll accept her condition, only her brother's death.
Genocide over one life is the clear good ending
lol retard.
nooooo I can't exit the holodeck, these projections made of light and photons look and act exactly like real people! they're therefore real! the crew of the enterprise are evil for trying to get me to come back to reality!!
She's a burn victim and every moment she breathes she's in pain.
And we know that particular health condition isn't going to improve... how?
Sister
Dad.
NOOOOOOOOOOOOOO I CAN'T JUST HIDE THE PAINTING OR DONATE TO SOMEONE ELSE I HAVE TO COMMIT GENOCIDE
There is nothing implying that the people in the canvas do not possess their personal qualia. Trying to argue otherwise gets you tied up in solipsistic knots.
They will all die when your body gives out. You're just prolonging their life for some time. In the end, they'll disappear all the same. In the Verso ending, you're at least coming back to your family and putting that awful episode behind you.
Renoir wasn't using the portrait to cope about Verso being dead. That's all Aline and Alicia.
why can't they leave the painting?
Guess we aren't real because we can't leave the Milky Way. Fucking idiot.
Esquie, say that line about stones again.
They live in different planes of existence. It's obvious that the creator's life has higher value than fictional characters
I accept your concession.
You just reminded me that Geordi basically made his own painted Verso (painted Verso is made out of Aline's memories of the kid, holo Brahms was made using the computer theorizing a personality based on recorded data). Now I wonder which side Verso would be on if he were somehow only badly injured instead of dead.
The boy was crying and tired before Maelle became Alicia. It was Renoir and The Paintress war that hurt Verso.
They will all die when your body gives out.
The anchor to the world is Verso kid, not Maelle.
Doesn't change that he's still being made to do a thing he no longer wants to do in the Maelle ending.
If they are on the same scale of real as the people outside
Nobody says that. Their subjective, conscious experience of their reality is the same as the people outside the painting with their world, they're just trapped in gnostic hell without escape. If the existence of an ontologically superior state of existence, or a creator entity, instantly invalidates your existence as meaningless, that could apply to you or me all the same.
the painting is a mini version of our universe and the paintress is god
no, it's a hellscape created by a demiurge, it is not comparable to our existence in this universe because our god is obviously benevolent and merciful
instead, the painting universe's gods are actual humans with all of their foibles and cruelties and neuroses- think to yourself- would I actually want to live in a universe that was controlled fully by any, ANY actual living breathing human being? let alone some insane bitch with PTSD? of course not, that is hell
Oh, then I stand corrected. Maelle ending is better.
Nothing indicates he won't go back to loving his world after Maelle fixes it.
There wouldn't be any ending arguments if they made Alicia some incel. Or even better, an incel who pretends to be a girl inside the canvas.
It's obvious that the creator's life has higher value
I value Eren above Isayama and Kenshin above his pedo author. Cope.
This is the good ending to some retards (Verso fags)
Maelle can't even fix Nevron killed expeditioners, and you think she'll be able to fix an entire painting?
because our god is obviously benevolent and merciful
Your god gave my cousin's toddler brain cancer.
because our god is obviously benevolent and merciful
LOL.
*tips fedora*
our god is obviously benevolent and merciful
LMAO
Life keeps forcing cruel choices.
Maelle can't even fix Nevron killed expeditioners
Nobody can, because their chroma has been tainted, erasing their personhood. You could make a clone that looks like them based on your impression if you remember it, but the continuity is broken.
revert Lumiere back to how it was in the beginning of the game
doesn't fix the fucked up tower or any of the other buildings covered in chroma, only fixes the opera house
piano session 273
She created a stagnate world focused solely on her and the people that she knows. There is no future for any other person in lumiere and even the ones close to her as she will keep them stuck in a manner that she speciifcally likes about them.
Fuck off larper.
Even she couldn't get herself to stop Verso from freeing a dead child's soul
yep, i'm thinking every expedition member would let him do it
Burn the painting, burn the painters. Writers are right.
don't bring your personal life into internet arguments anon, it won't end well
She controls the Canvas now, she should be able to fix it for the most part. Maybe not bring back the people before 33, but at least let those who come after live their lives.
this game's writing is incredibly shitty
dancing around in city like nothing big is going to happen
bunch of people die once the number goes down to 33
everyone's mood is surprisingly upbeat
Expedition 33 rolls out to stop the painter
first encounter and everyone dies like flies
complete fucking talentless bitches
don't even fight back
next morning the protag's first reaction is to cuck himself out
turnbased fags really have the worst fucking shittaste in whole vidya. everyone's crying to this trash?
Verso fans make complex philosophical arguments with Dostoevsky and shit
Maelle fans just use "cuck" and "sissy"
What causes this phenomenon
Goes to stop Verso
Verso shrugs her off
Lune turns into dust like Sciel for stepping into the twilight zone
none of them actually act like real people- the second verso showed up everyone should've interrogated him before trusting him but he just brushes it of with "it's....it's personal, okay?!?"
She created a stagnate world focused solely on her and the people that she knows. There is no future for any other person in lumiere and even the ones close to her as she will keep them stuck in a manner that she speciifcally likes about them.
That's the brilliance of their endings, they're both open to interpretation. Maybe she can bring back everyone, maybe they're all soulless puppets. Maybe Alicia moves on, maybe she gets lost in another world. Maybe she carries the memories of Lumiere and can redraw it somewhere better, maybe not.
cuck
Even she couldn't get herself to stop Verso
She literally couldn't cross the barrier without getting Gommage'd you stupid fuck.
>Expedition 33 rolls out to stop the painter
>first encounter and everyone dies like flies
>complete fucking talentless bitches
>don't even fight back
They are normal people that decided to go on expedition because they would gommage either way
Versofags talk like boomers because Verso is a boomer.
Maellefags talk like zoomzooms because Maelle is a zoomer.
Are you reading different threads or what?
"Maellefags" (Lumeriafags actually) discuss the implications of the worldbuilding, gnosticism, ontology and what it means to exist and the human experience
Versofags just repeat "put down the pipe, muh drugs, muh sims"
what happens when the irl family dies and the painting gets tossed into the trash by the removal men
I'm reading this thread wherein the first 3 images are meme formats wherein Maelle has been edited as the chad and Verso has been edited as the jak.
You have Asperger's don't you?
Your false flagging lacks subtlety.
Is this the evangelion of video games? I havent had these feelings since the first time i finished that
You know that those are edits of a Verso ending jakshit meme that was spammed before first, right?
Assuming Verso's soul is still painting inside the portrait, nothing. The painting is only ever ended if the soul fragment chooses to stop (like we see in the Verso ending) or the portrait is harmed externally (like how the story keeps going on about how Renoir will destroy the canvas).
Surely.
She'd get erased either way. It's Lune, even if just to gain a minute or less she'd definitely sacrifice herself.
But she didn't bother.
Yes. Did you play the game? he finally relents and leaves Alicia to it to use the painting responsibly and immediately gets proven right. If the painting still exists the crazy bitches in his family will seek it out and waste away in it.
"nah bro it's deep you need to read between the lines it's super deep watch this 72min youtube video about it you will understand eventually"
She'd get erased either way. It's Lune, even if just to gain a minute or less she'd definitely sacrifice herself.
So you never saw the barrier cutscene when you don't do both axons?
It's true though. Except it was less creative because it didn't use the Visage as the jak
Sounds like a skill issue desu
Why do you think she stayed on the other side of the barrier? Once she enters it's over. She ain't winning even a few seconds.
But she didn't bother.
She was dealing with double betrayal bonus deluxe as she realized she never lived for a moment in her entire life and had just had sex with the treacherous snake that sealed her death.
She's taking the fetal position despair route
They are normal people
that spawn guns out of nowhere? can discharge lightning out of their hands?
Did Lune deserve to suffer so much?
It is. All the Dessendre women whose names start with A have level -333 grief coping skills.
...those are consistent with the magic rules of their world, yes. They need to get dangerous and unstable pictos implants to use magic, and the Lumina converter that lets them use a sliver of Painter demiurge powers is a new invention that they came up with.
you mean to tell me the people who can conjure talking spirits out of their magic black rectangle in their pocket are normal?
You don't need to read in between lines but you do need to comprehend words. The prologue states multiple times a decline in the expeditions. The interest in the expedition is dying and the motive of the expedition has switched to a political stunt. Less interest always leads to less talent, leading to more incompetence.
Expecting someone to die versus sudden death. Hopes and dreams crushed. Gustave and his friends were somewhat optimistic that they had a shot at progressing the expedition forward. Getting smoked right in the beginning is a big shock in his perspective.
trapping the Canvas in a cycle of pain and suffering
what cycle of pain and suffering? verso is the only one being a bitch because he has an existential crisis or whatever. none of the lumière people want to die
Because maellefags can't argue in good faith.
When you point out that the painting people are fictional characters they use some bizarre appeal to triviality about how everyone in the game is fictional.
Sidestepping a story about the survival of a civilization for morose, petty family squabbles was a mistake.
they use some bizarre appeal to triviality about how everyone in the game is fictional.
No you fucking retard, you argue correctly that the conscious experience of their world for the Lumierians is the same as the people outside their painting and their world, and you cannot dismiss their existence as meaningless without being massively hypocritical.
and the Lumina converter that lets them use a sliver of Painter demiurge powers is a new invention that they came up with.
That's not what the lumina converter does.
There is a limited amount of patterns they can paint on their bodies (which is what using pictos is, you learn this from the NPC looking at the dancing girls in the harbor). What the lumina converter does is it allows you to infuse the abilities you can get out of pictos without having to inscribe them on your body because, as the name states and the game function shows you, it turns pictos ability into lumina.
Just stop playing right before Verso reads the letter. There you go.
painting people are fictional characters
They aren't otherwise we wouldn't even be seeing what's going on after Maelle left the Canvas. In the end it wasn't even a Painter that finished the universe, it was a suicidal freak.
I have severe autism
Verso's soul wasn't suicidal, just tired.
The fighting between the Dessendres over the Canvas isn't over in Maelle's ending you know.
picking Verso while claiming the denizens aren't real people
Moral cowardice.
Less interest always leads to less talent, leading to more incompetence.
That IS reading between the lines. There is not a single dialog in the game that points to this as their current situation. You concluded this from the little info you got
Pictos are tools to manipulate chroma, so it's not a terrible analogy.
Except... that Maelle wasn't the one sustaining the Canvas. It was painter Verso's soul.
I pick Verso because he's the only one advocating for Painter Verso's desire to stop painting against his will.
i know that you have severe autism. you're playing a turntard game and "enjoying" it
the people of lumiere were mostly blacks as far as i could tell, why would i want to save them?
I already beat the game.
Painted Verso killed everyone.
>picking Verso while claiming the denizens aren't real people
Moral cowardice.
Pin this. You either own the difficult sacrifice you are genuinely convicted enough to do, or you pussy out and say "it was never a sacrifice anyway".
Verso's soul was the one that stopped painting.
if you read his dialogue all through the game, the reason verso's soul is so tired of this world is because of his parents absolutely warping his fun gesteral adventure playground and clea filling it with evil nevrons from his nightmares that are murdering everything and literally eating the world.
How do Verso apologists justify him not delivering the letter, by the way? What grand noble goal does this facilitate?
Events kept happening even after all the painters were out and only the fragment of the soul of a dead man stayed there. The one who made the choice was Painted Verso.
we must save the DEI world
As far as I've seen, there are no blacks in the real world
You are beyond retarded, or very young if you pick Alicia's ending. You have been given enough warnings and context as to why this particular painted world should be put to rest, yet you ignored it.
This. He values all painted life, including the Lumierians painted by Aline, and was happy to see them. Calm down with the carnage and he'll be fine again.
Because Painted Verso made him.
No. The whole point is to move on.
So you're saying all Maelle has to do is spruce up the place, and literally every single person in happy. Just more proof Verso killing an entire civilization is not needed, and also noncanon.
The game gave me enough hints to arrive at the correct conclusion that the Dessendres need to be gassed.
genocide good
lol
Quick reminder, he didn't actually know what was on the letter. We see him break the seal right before the mass gommage at the end of the Act II. We don't know what he thinks was on the letter before he finally read it, and people trying to use it as a gotcha are stretching.
The problem is the whole family of retards can't get a fucking grip.
By commiting genocide? Lol no.
the whole "power level" of the game makes very little sense. some other guy dies instantly to the plant boss while Gustave and Lune have very little problem fighting back.
the wipeout at the beginning is already very contradictory to the fact that the few survivors left eventually manage to succeed in the expedition. and we are sitting here like complete little faggots speculating about how their abilities and talents work.
a world to love
moving on past your grief and facing reality
a world to paint
painting over your pain and escaping into eternal stagnation
The only thing they should be facing is the barrel of a gun, death to the demiurge.
why was clea manifesting as the lady of sap? what was that all about?
I mean Renoir effectively fucks off after the last fight. Can't say for sure what Aline and Clea are doing, or if Maelle can fend Clea off.
it was never a sacrifice anyway
It never was though. Aline can just repaint them again. Hell, she can repaint Verso if she wants as well.
And when Alicia "brought back" Sciel and Lune it wasn't THE Sciel and Lune that you partied with before, Verso literally tells Mael that it's not about verisimilitude, but essence. It's not THEM them, but rather the spirit of them, which makes them genuine enough.
There's that word again. Thanks for confirming you're retarded.
If that level of thinking is considered "super deep" then sure, I can see why you'd dislike it and favor something more explicit.
clea doesn't care if alicia spends decades in the painting, she only wants alina and renoir out asap to help against the writers
It never was though. Aline can just repaint them again. Hell, she can repaint Verso if she wants as well
Not in a different canvas though, that's the point, you need the same chroma. If you sacrifice the canvas you erase all its inhabitants.
How are they realistically different if they are returned to corporeal form from the same chroma with the same memories and personality?
Painted Verso didn't make him, he just offered his hand to walk away. Maelle on the other hand literally enacts violence as painted Verso tries to reach out to the soul one.
Verso deciding to kill everyone is the same as Elliot Rodger deciding to do the same. It's not even a Painter making the decision, it's a fucking Painted being just lile the rest, deciding for everyone.
The saddest part is that if you kept everything the same but made the painter-child a little girl instead everyone would trip over themselves to tell m'lady she can stop painting.
Ask Yen, the writer. The game's the one that came up with the "it's not about verisimilitude it's about essence" nonsense.
Why does this sound so gay?
And btw is Aline dead in Maelle's ending? She's definitely not in the canvas, so i guess she dead eh
Alicia first caused the death of her brother and now her mother. What a terrible daughter.
he let gustave die
he just offered his hand to walk away
It's the fragment of the sould of a dead man, it's gonna follow whatever. Maelle stopped the BS and the kid didn't stop on his own.
i'm just not interested in headcanoning a terrible writing into a good one. sorry anon, but shit is shit no matter how much you polish it
The biggest sin was Verso sacrificing himself. Everyone would've been happy without Alicia
That's just another way about saying painting is more about instinct. It doesn't mean the people returned to corporeal form are just "the essence", otherwise they would be significantly different and just the same in "the essence", but we see they are exactly the same people.
And btw is Aline dead in Maelle's ending?
No, she's just out in real life with Clea and Renoir, probably extra crippled from being a retard who jumped back into the portrait after being weakened and kicked out already.
Maelle has a life to paint
Sweet erased star
Alicia has a life to paint
Official lyrics to "Maelle" and "Alicia" songs, by the way. She has a life to paint the same way you have a life to cope.
There has to be some difference in at least some of the people she repainted. Take Sciels husband for example. He was dead several years before the events of the game. His chroma would have already been reused to create another person. How does Alicia repaint him exactly how he was. Does she account for the passage of time for him etc. What happens to the person that chroma was shared with, does she just not paint them?
Uh-huh and missing her son's concert, for sure
That's it, I'm messaging the writer on insta.
We'll see if the Lumierians are sapient or if Maelle puppets them.
He did. I don't understand how anyone could claim this is the bad ending when everyone is happy except that faggot.
but we see they are exactly the same people.
Yes, you're finally seeing that the writing is shit. The whole "its about the essence" part is garbage because Alicia shits them out 1:1 anyway, making the spiel about not aiming for verisimilitude pointless.
He wants to eject his mother from the painting. Telling the expedition the truth would be self-sabotage.
His chroma would have already been reused to create another person.
I mean we don't actually know how that works, it could be that's not the case at all.
The only people we've been explicitly told can't be brought back are people killed by nevrons.
Sciel also said she wouldn't want to create a copy of Pierre that wasn't the original, like how painted Verso is a copy.
Maelle also said she could bring back the other people like Lune/Sciel (granted, the context of this could be about the people gommaged at the end of A2).
"Tomorrow comes...for the Dessendre."
"For those who come after...who will be erased."
Versofags are so reductive and one dimensional in their thought process.
Would it be so difficult to just tell them the truth about the painted world, and go to take out painted Renoir first? Just stop lying for one fucking second.
Gaming and generally art is not escapism, it’s play, art is play, first thing that children do is play, because playing, imitating potential struggles prepares you to deal with them. We are attracted towards art and entertainment not to escape from the reality, but to explore it, and to prepare.
This story puts you in a fantastical wonderful world, asks you to fall in love with it, and then it tells you to choose to end it. The lesson is relevant and is clear, as things progress we can create more and more immersive worlds and lose ourselves in it, it’s important not to lose sight of the reality even if your life sucks.
So what this art/game prepares us for is dealing with that struggle, and i respect it
As for Maelle, let me just tell you i liked Maelle far more than Alicia, and while she says otherwise, Maelle is gone, the trauma of losing her brother that Alicia experienced overshadows virtually everything else about her, and that girl needs genuine help. She saw what happened to her mother and made the same exact choice, of rejecting her original world because of the pain she endured in it, she’s 16 yeah, but she’s double 16(although i am not sure if years take as long relatively in the canvas, in terms of experiences you have, Lune says "we still have a little time before team goes to monolith, meaning what almost a year already passed?), which is weird but it is what it is. The world she creates in her ending seems like a quiet nightmare, the way it was depicted by the devs.
Nope. Nice try. You have a juvenile understanding of the story and the world at large.
This shit makes me unreasonably upset.
ok but why did Gustave get impaled at the beach and woke up perfectly fine right after
Would it be so difficult to just tell them the truth about the painted world
Yes, because it would make him their enemy.
"When one falls...we disappear."
Would it be so difficult to just tell them the truth about the painted world
If he tells them about the painted world and somehow the expeditioners believe him, that would make them side WITH painted Renoir, not against him. He's a creation of Aline's, and Aline wants to keep the fantasy going.
He didn't get impaled, and they were extremely close to the waterfowl area. You btw can find the nevrons that killed much of the expedition and kill them, the game acknowledges that it's them afterwards
Verso fags...
He's a creation of Aline's, and Aline wants to keep the fantasy going.
Just kick Aline out then? You don't need Aline to maintain the painting, and with her out Renoir won't destroy the canvas. It's Verso's soul that maintains it.
There's no reason real Renoir, Lumiere and painted Verso can't be on the same page.
Have you played the game? Last time they tried to warn the expeditioners, they still had to kill everyone because no one believed them.
Post the rest of this conversation.
You forget when Lune asks Gustave if he still believes in that, and gustave says that he hopes he does
Alicia cant bring 99% of them back
That's what happened at the end of Act 2. Renoir gommaged them all anyways.
The way the discourse around the game is, it makes it seem like 90% of people chose Maelle at the end
Aline always comes back, that is the initial reason why everything happens, she refuses to let go, even if it kills her slowly
Have you played the game bro?
and gustave says that he hopes he does
To be human is to doubt your conviction sometimes, even Jesus did that to show his humanity and whatnot.
Just put the canvas on top of the fridge and she won't reach it
Bend, don't break.
Gustave bended.
Verso broke.
Yeah, because he knows it's the right thing, despite his personal fears for Maelle's safety getting in the way.
Also the context of that discussion is the 3 of them trying to 3v1 the paintress who is still on the other side of the world instead of going home. Not choosing between Maelle and everyone else right then and there.
Maellefags are just like the ending they chose: unable to move on
Just kick Aline out then? You don't need Aline to maintain the painting, and with her out Renoir won't destroy the canvas.
That's the stupidity of it. Every step of the story once the truth of the painted world is revealed they never fail to keep mentioning how Renoir WILL destroy the painting, with no room for any kind of leniency. The game could have gone with both girls promising to never even use their painter powers ever again and Renoir would still destroy it, because apparently he's got a one track mind.
From the polls I've seen it's like 55:45 Verso:Maelle actually.
He clearly doesn't believe that Lumiere is more important than Maelle. That's why he risked the entire expedition for his last stand stunt against Renoir.
And which way does that even go?
Because he said fuck the mission and wanted to save Maelle above all, Lune had to convince him and she didn't really, as he kept his doubts.
And what if he after finds out that Maelle is the only human who is real in his entire world and rest are painted beings by her mother?
This whole thread is though. Endless debate on the topic.
Nuh-uh
Great argument
And that's Renoir's fault for being so stubborn.
It literally is just Greek god drama.
Well it's because Aline/Alicia will keep going in.
Renoir just needs to team up with Lumiere, pump them full of luminas, and tell them to kick out Aline/Alicia if they come into the canvas.
Gustave would respect Maelle's decision but work on the problem of helping Renoir keeping Aline out so Maelle won't feel forced to be in the canvas 24/7 because he's a good brother/father.
What he thinks is the right thing comes from his understanding of the world, in which he thinks he's a real human.
Verso finds out that he's not a real human and eventually comes to a conclusion that this should stop even if initially he was entirely on the side of lumiere.
Right things depends on the context, and Gustave already almost choose Maelle over the mission without ANY context
I don't think Gustave actually believed at that point they had a chance of taking down the paintress. It wasn't Lumiere vs Maelle. It was dying "honorably" as an expedition vs Maelle.
The actual good ending would be to erase both Verso and Maelle and leave the canvas alone. Let Lumerians live in peace without Maelle's BPD god complex and painted Verso's suicidal cryfaggotry
Verso has also lived in isolation and suffering for 67 years with a total lifespan of over >100 years. Gustave is 32 and closely tied to Lumiere and the people who live there.
Move on from what? Not giving a shit about Verso or the Dessendre and remaining logically consistent in saving Lumiere from start to finish, no matter the cost? The mission never changed.
If Renoir and Verso crying is enough to get you to endorse abandoning the mission and killing everyone, then you being an emotionally manipulated bitch is on you.
Verso is such a fucking rat. I knew from the moment Gustave died, that he could have saved him. Fucking cowardice rat.
They should need to kill Aline too, you can actually solve everything if you kill Alicia and Aline, canvas would be no issue in that case
And Gustave already without any context almost chose Maelle over the mission. Now tell him that Maelle is the only real human there and she's killing herself by remaining in the canvas
I knew from the moment Gustave died, that he could have saved him.
Yup. It's just too convenient shonen protagonist introduction, I could smell it instantly.
I'm sorry I didn't save your friend...
Fucker
Burning down the mansion a second time and locking the doors would also do the trick.
Doesn't really work without Clea coming in to rollback the Nevrons.
She originally made them as part of Verso's portrait and converted them to corrupt chroma to assist Renoir.
Without fixing that the painting would still be a battlefield that sucks the joy out of Verso's will to paint, but even if Clea rolls them back I don't know that the Lumierians wouldn't still be destructive towards them.
She who plays with wonder
The painters should ban Aline from painting. She's the only one who creates the complex sentient life and fucks around with it.
remaining logically consistent in saving Lumiere from start to finish
When everything around you changes, all that you knew changes, but you remain the same - you're not logically consistent, you're a retard
Renoir is the real MVP here. Bro lost his son and now has to endure his wife and daughter woman moments without going insane.
Renoir wins in both endings. He still has Clea who's smart and talented
She's the only one who creates the complex sentient life and fucks around with it.
And you took that completely out of your ass. Gestrals are not sentient or something? Verso created them as a kid and they already have consciousness
That's obviously a common practice among painters
I'm here to deliver a strongly worded letter from the Writers Guild to the Dessendre family.
How quickly do you think he would have burned the house down if Clea went full retard too?
And Gustave already without any context almost chose Maelle over the mission.
The mission he thinks is likely to just be them dying somewhere on the way to the paintress yes. Not a mission where if they fail Lumiere is instantly destroyed either.
Renoir should honestly say fuck Aline and go find a younger chich to fuck and produce another son
I wonder what ending the movie will choose
Nothing changed. Nothing. The only thing that "changed" was your mindset because you are a retard. Did Maelle, Lune, and Sciel "change" to coincide with your worldviews once they realized the truth of the canvas? No. The accepted their situation and pressed onward and continued the mission.
The Dessendre are irrelevant to that end. Nothing changes. You are just a manipulated faggot who stopped thinking once the canvas wasn't "real" by whatever arbitrary criteria you deem as a qualifier and invalidated the entire journey because "boo hoo Verso so sad :( "
Neither. At the part in the game where you choose Verso or Maelle it will just cut to black with "FIN" in the corner in true pretentious French film fashion.
Gustave is not a retard, he understands and comments about every expedition leaving a mark to make it easier for the next, giving them a better chance. That is the mission too, the game makes it clear again and again that you're walking in the footsteps of those who came before, and walking for those who come after
That is the mission too
To an extent, yes the gestrals are inferior to humans in terms of sentience. Non of them really give a shit about death and are obsessed with fighting. The closest is Monoco, likely by association with verso. I don't think Verso intended to give them human level sentience, especially since he drew them as a kid.
Nothing changed. Nothing.
Yeah the biggest twist in the story clearly intended by the devs changes nothing and doesn't recontextualize the entire thing
You called yourself a retard in a way that i could never.
Thank you for that, saved me the time
abysmal niggerhell for eternity for making everything worse
Aline
Painted Verso
Alicia
victim of circumstance, cruel deeds done for a higher goal
Renoir
Painted Clea
Painted Aline
just wants to get their job done with minimal drama
Clea
Sciel
Lune
too good for the story
Gustave
Verso
Golgra
Yeah exactly, he painted them as a kid, and yet they clearly have consciousness even though they are not as complex as lumierians.
Obviously, that's a common practice among painters
Saying that the people who's sentience is being debated about didn't go and deviate/adapt from their "programming" in spite of external factors changing doesn't bode well for trying to prove that they're sentient beings rather than just automatons operating on the designs their painter wove into them.
truth nuke
Yeah and Gustave is conflicted about heading back to safety vs likely dying to leave a mark for the 32s and on.
It's wild to say that he would just straight sacrifice Lumiere for Maelle when he's conflicted about doing something that he thinks is likely killing her anyways just to give future expeditions some extra info.
Painted Aline
wat
*Painted Alicia
Also Painted Renoir next to real Renoir
Clea and Painted Clea placements are wild.
Esquie, Monoco and Noco on the bottom.
Gustave already said fuck the mission without 33 doing anything at all, Lune HAD to convince him. If you leave him by himself, he already chooses Maelle over the mission. And again, the mission reasonably is to lay a trail for next expeditions. Of course every expedition hypes themselves up to finish the job, but they reasonably know what is the real mission here
The mission does not change. The alternative is lying down and accepting erasure. Which you did, because mental retardation. A line of commonality amongst your ilk.
Clear and Renoir don't though, and they are fairly experienced as well. I suppose the topic of sentience being taboo isn't clear with examples on both sides.
It makes sense if swapped
without 33 doing anything at all
they instantly fucking died, that's what they did and why he said that lol
one might assume old man murder laser might show up again if they keep going and OH SURPRISE what happens?
We find other expeditions that also have a bad start and continue going, part of the game. When one falls, we continue
The alternative is lying down and accepting erasure.
Gustave literally did this when he thought he was the only one left. Put a gun right up his head and everything, ready to pull the trigger until Lune spoke up.
Pick Maelle ending
Everything in the world has lost its colour
Pick Verso ending
The world is vibrant with colour.
Oh gee, it sure is hard to figure out which one is the good one.
I don't think she commited any cruel deeds, she just stood by her Father and Mother(who didn't deserve her love) because she wanted her family to be together. I think the Journal that mentions she fell into their trap implies she didn't like the expeditioners throwing themselves at them and wanted to tell them the truth.
Based kindergartener
These beings have self preservation, therefore they are not sentient
Average Versofag IQ on full display.
Life really does get much better once you accept both Verso and Alicia are irredeemable shitstains.
You sure you want to include Maelle? She's not exactly helping your point.
I don't know why some people hated Gustave so much. He felt the most real/relatable out of all the characters
Easy enough to say, but hard to put into practice. Also
We find other expeditions that also have a bad start and continue going
There's also of plenty of expeditions that just stop because they've lost too many people/resources.
automatons operating on the designs their painter wove into them.
Painted Verso disproves this instantly. Going from his Expedition Zero journal, he has a fundamental change in philosophy.
That comment is in reference to the canvas revelation and its pending erasure. Do not reply to me if all you are going to do is try to dishonestly move a goalpost.
The mission does not change
The mission to kill the paintress? Yeah Verso completed that, worship him, faggot.
A line of commonality amongst your ilk.
It is incredibly amusing that vermin like you who chooses fantasy over reality speaks in this manner.
You will never be a woman, faggot.
self preservation
kick the man out to take a torch to where we live instead of imprisoning him again
Do consider that Alicia is a moody 16 year old. She will grow out of it eventually.
Gustave thinks Maelle is dead, the moment he finds out she's alive his entire attitude changes.
Painted Verso is also a real special boy and not some background NPC Aline created for her family fantasy.
That comment is in reference to the canvas revelation and its pending erasure
And? Suicide was Gustave's choice when faced with an overwhelming force where the stake was the end of (his) existence.
Hell, now I'm not so convinced that he died to protect Maelle, rather that he just chose to do suicide by cop rather than keep going on an impossible mission.
Hell, now I'm not so convinced that he died to protect Maelle
Yeah you're dumb
in this moment lune recalls how she was the MVP in the expedition managing to kill the erase the paintress
It's literally of the same essence though as all the other chroma beings.
No, he's clearly different.
There is really no reason to debate the sentiency of the painted beings.
Because we humans don't even truly know what consciousness and sentience is truly. They are complex organisms and that is a fact
Doesn't mean their reality takes priority over anything in the base reality.
Not really. We know what painted Verso is made of, i.e. chroma and Aline's memories of Verso. What is Lune made of? Sciel? Sophie? Chroma and what? It can't be Aline's memories of Parisians/parisiennes, because that'd mean all these people sperging about Lune being dead are crying over nothing when real Lune exists in Paris.
Doesn't mean their reality takes priority over anything in the base reality.
It's a demiurge hell but with no way to escape. Tragic worldbuilding. Unless Alicia's memory counts somehow.
you know who i blame?
women
Kill the painters
For what reason, midwit? Go on. Why were they trying to slay The Painters, you dishonest roach? Answer the question.
fantasy vs reality
What fantasy? The world of the canvas is its own reality. That "m-muh escapism! I-Im'ma big boi :( " bullshit is just got air to me. Don't care. Saving Lumiere. Furthermore, the world of the canvas is as "real" to me as the outside "real world": it's a fucking video game. I chose to preserve the one I spent time in and was originally tasked with saving. You can take that fantasy vs. reality drivel and shove it right back up your ass.
If I paint Lumiere and all its people in 50 different canvases which one is the real one?
PLAY THAT FUCKING PIANO WHITE BOY
They are all "real", except only one is the original. And the only one I care about.
No, there are ways, just kill Aline and Alicia and leave canvas alone.
The issue is that Aline's and Alicia's life is more important than the existence of that world, to Renoir least.
For me i mean i choose the Verso ending because it is narratively the correct choice, and i was already over the canvas world the moment i found out it's a canvas world, i personally as the player wanted to get out.
MvP for act 2 but absolute bottom of the barrel tier once you hit act 3.
This. People who unironically think Verso acted because he cared for Alicia and not simply because he was suicidal are retarded.
I wanted to see his reaction to finding out.
bro saw his mother coughing up blood and nearly dying BUT jumped into the portal because he’s suicidal
average Anon BabbleGOD IQ
They are all "real"
Can't be, and we know this from human nature. You show someone an identical copy of themselves down to the T and both of them will insist on one being a fraud and the other being the genuine article.
f I paint Lumiere and all its people in 50 different canvases
Well, you can't repaint them identically because the chroma would be different. You'd have 50 different canvases.
why twins don't just kill each other all the time then?
kept shooting Goblu despite fleeing and Lune had to make him chill
Why does he hate painted creatures so much anyway?
This pic makes no sense
hates paintress
turns into corpse
MvP for act 2
And Act2 is when you rid the world of the paintress.
but absolute bottom of the barrel tier once you hit act 3
Nah. Braselim is still totally broken alongside Storm Caller. Gives you 3/3 gradient every single turn with every character. And that includes herself. Sky Break is welcome.
Twins usually have different names. Also identical twins aren't really identical.
nearly a month since release
threads still capping out
day or night, 24 hours a day
There's no way this is shilling, there's no way that they would hire people to shill for this long, it makes no sense.
Well, you can't repaint them identically because the chroma would be different.
Painting isn't about verisimilitude. It's about essence.
Can't be
Nope. I avoided the thinly veiled trap in your bullshit question, and you are dishonestly trying to push it anyway in response. Which is why I SPECIFICALLY outlined only the "original" matters to me.
Tence- I mean NetEase pays 30k chinese bots to astroturf Baldu- E33, of course.
Dedicating Goblu 2 cutscenes with an unresolved ending felt like it was just one of the intern's projects to incorporate into the story. Goblu never shows up again what was the point of it?
Vanishing twin syndrome is a thing.
Yeah it's odd how watching your team consisting of your best friends and comrades that you probably grew up alongside getting murdered by monsters can negatively affect your opinion of said monsters.
Well. It'd be his reaction to watching his daughter go through the stages.
Painting isn't about verisimilitude. It's about essence.
And their essence is their chroma, yes. You can't transfer that between canvases.
Except in the scenario, they're all the original.
It's kill the Paintress not painters, i can see you're emotional and unable to keep calm. And how unsurprising that is.
For what reason
Oh so you're telling me that the context changes things? That the twist recontextualizes the entire thing?
Truly incredible
What fantasy?
The fantasy world that was drawn by some painters, that fantasy.
I chose to preserve the one I spent time
Yes you have already made clear what you're driven by. I don't respect you one bit, which is something i made clear.
It's a fucking video game
Yes and it's called suspension of disbelief when you engage with the work of fiction instead of just calling it a video game. The video game created a narrative, in-universe there is a base world and a canvas world drawn by the painters from the base world. The game starts you in the canvas world and then reveals it's a canvas world and there is a base world, how do you engage with that?
I say well get me to the base world
The second panel would him finding out he's also a Paintress creation, but we never got to that.
Would apply to Lune as well, he was just uniquely mad at Goblu for no reason. Was that flower just random?
No, Chroma is a way to bring their essence to life. That's why Renoir can just repaint Sirene even though he used her Chroma to make a weapon.
You can't transfer that between canvases.
Except you can. You literally see Renoirs axons hanging in the manor, and have them as enemies in the portrait.
Hell, Verso's lesson not once mentions chroma in regards to essence.
You can't transfer that between canvases.
Not that we know. It's just that they didn't even try.
Here's how to fix the endings.
At the end of Life to Live, when Maelle waves goodbye to the Expeditioners, she looks in her pocket and sees a single rose petal
There, instant cinema.
The painted person should be able to decide to fate of all painted people!!
Do verso fags really
They are all "real", except only one is the original. And the only one I care about.
Why is the original the only one that matters?
Noooo daddy I don’t wanna create immersive virtual worlds
I wanna play music (even though you can play music in the painted worlds you create)
This characterization is completely unbelievable
No, you're just a fag.
They empathize with Verso because he's a 25 year old neet who lives in his parents' basement and thinks he'll make it big in music any day now
Jennifer English
She met her girlfriend Aliona Baranova on the set of Baldur's Gate III (2023). Baranova was her performance director during the motion capture sessions, and they both became close friends and eventually a couple.
wait what? shes a dyke? maelle and shadowheart ruined forever
What part of my post made you think about gay sex, anon?
People have known that since Baldur's Gate 3.
she looks into her pocket and it's a bomb the writers planted there. She explodes.
Fixed.
Sounds like a tedious extra step if you just wanna play music.
No, the chroma is just the material. Prior to Lune existing she didn't have a chroma. Aline created her from her chroma, and only then that chroma became Luna's chrome.
Aline can create infinite Lunes in infinite amount of worlds
Probably to show that nevrons aren't necessarily just mindless monsters.
Sure. Most of them are proven to be pretty much exactly that. Monsters painted by Clea on a mission to rob Aline of her chroma by killing people.
But the paintings created by the painters are still creative beings of their expression.
For all we know Goblu might even be a quote on quote "Nevron" and might predate Clea's quest to trap Aline's chroma.
In the real world manor Goblu has a portrait next to Esquie. He might have been a kind gardener or something before the fracture. We don't know.
Anon...
No. The bomb was planted somewhere else, somewhere she wouldn't think to look.
It's kill the Paintress not painters
It's called "auto correct." hurdurr inb4 phoneposting.
Either way, I don't really care to continue this conversation. I stand by what I said. You are easily emotionally manipulated into expunging an entire world because you have convinced yourself they are not "real" despite interacting with them for 30+ hours. Nothing you say or do will convince me you are rational.
Sounds like you can get the virtuoso experience with a snap of your fingers
The everything is fake part, that you consider it to be cinema.
And if the petal is just some random real life one then you're an over-artistic moron.
No
You're not really disagreeing with me there.
Matters "to me." And no, I will not elaborate. :)
And what’s the alternative?
Anyone with basic survival instinct would gamble on the immortal guy helping you cross the finish line and deal with his inevitable backstabbing later. Just basic game theory.
quote on quote
you go you no die
People aren't immortal in real life too, retardo. Alicia's life is such a shitfest she might go hang herself or get killed by the Writers a few weeks later after leaving the Canvas.
How so?
a few weeks later after leaving the Canvas.
We don't really know the time dilation going from the real world into the portrait. For all we know the over 67 years (since she was playing house with a fake family before the fracture) that Aline spent in the painting was just a couple days.
Retard, the moment i found out that's a canvas world and there is a base world, or a world on higher step, i instantly wanted to get out of the canvas and engage with whatever is happening in the base world.
Because i am not a retard who's content with living in a lesser world. Whatever is the base, whatever is the truth, that's what i want.
It's not about anyone or anything else. Narratively Verso's ending is better, but that is not the reason i choose what i choose.
Nothing you say or do will convince me you are rational.
Yeah i'm not trying to, why would i care what someone i don't respect thinks of me.
I just called you a retard from the beginnings of our conversation and was fine leaving it there.
The everything is fake part
I never said that, it'd just be a nice visual symbolism that the struggle of Lumiere was not forgotten and they live on, and left their mark. Maybe slight hints that they can be repainted as well, by a mentally healthy Alicia this time.
Okay but you have a mutilated face with a dangling eye socket and you can’t even talk. Still want to go back to the “real world” L’il Chud?
Esquie's plushy does exactly that. And the fact that Alicia stands more confidently and even somewhat smiles. She's not the same Alicia who entered the canvas.
the moment i found out that's a canvas world and there is a base world, or a world on higher step, i instantly wanted to get out of the canvas and engage with whatever is happening in the base world.
Then you and I are different, because I didn't feel that at all. My perspective is the fight of Lumiere for Lumiere, the outside world is lore and set dressing for the war in the canvas.
wanted to get out of the canvas and engage with whatever is happening in the base world.
Good for you, retard. Personal problem.
Esquie's plushy does exactly that.
Eh, sure, but I wanted something from within the canvas you know. The plushie existed in the manor the whole time.
When he first shows up he's pretty open to their questioning plus he brought them back the lumina converter which works as a peace offering considering how important it was. Brushing off their concerns over his "personal matters" doesn't start happening until they find out about his relation to Renoir.
Yeah, there are no conditions in which i would choose lesser realities or fantasy worlds to the truth.
If life is truly unbearable i will kill myself, but i will never choose to live a lie. Nonexistence is preferable to a lie.
This thread helped me finally understand why Expedition 33 sold poorly in Japan.
Japan is chock full of moralising like "It doesn't matter if this world is painful, it's real and the fact that we struggle even through that pain proves we're alive" and shit like that. Maelle ending choosers are anathema to that sort of mindset because Maelle chooses to live out her days in safe comfort rather than struggle against her one eye and breathing problems.
It is good for me, i'm a righteous and upstanding individual.
You on other, meh.
My perspective is the fight of Lumiere for Lumiere, the outside world is lore and set dressing for the war in the canvas.
This is a meta take, not in-universe take.
Both endings disregard any agency from the Painted. In Verso's ending, Painted Verso who is in a way a Demi-God goes against a Demiurge (Real Alicia) and destroys the Canvas. He might say to himself and others that is to save his Mother Aline or then Alicia but it really is all about wanting to end it all. He just wants to die and take the world with him because he became the manifestation of the Canvas itself as unlike other Painted, Aline used the very soul of his real dead son to create him.
In Maelle ending or should I say Alicia, she as a Demiurge decided to repaint P. Verso into her own little puppet and make him live the life he told her he wanted to live. This was all BS from Verso BTW because he wanted to die which Alicia will inherently stop him from doing so. She also brings back many of the Lumerians but we don't know how much agency they really have. For all we know all of them are nothing more than toy figures for Alicia to play with. She can change them any way she wants to and she is no longer the Maelle who didn't fit anywhere but a god who controls everything. No real agency is given to the Painted as the ending is seen from the gods perspective.
You're really saying that about the number one country in escapism media consumption? Isekai with Japanese male self-insert protagonists banging white women and elves in medieval Europe? Romcoms, harems, and moe shows with one-dimensional protagonists just so it's easy to self-insert?
Anime only exists because living in Japan is hell
Really easy to say this when you are not put in the situation. You might even believe it. Luckily, you won't have to find out.
This thread helped me finally understand why Expedition 33 sold poorly in Japan.
It didn't, stop believing anything you see on Anon Babble. Physical sales are irrelevant.
SF6 is a phenomenon in Japan even though psychically it sold poorly
store.playstation.com
store.steampowered.com
It's selling as well in Japan as anywhere else.
My life isn't exactly sunshine and rainbows. And it doesn't need to be easy, it just needs to be correct.
Everyone would do what Maelle did if their real body was missing an eye, body was burned, and couldnt speak.
You're really saying that about the number one country in escapism media consumption? Isekai with Japanese male self-insert protagonists banging white women and elves in medieval Europe? Romcoms, harems, and moe shows with one-dimensional protagonists just so it's easy to self-insert?
Yes.
The fact that they've pivoted their isekai where majority of them are like Dragon Ball, Rayearth and Fushigi Yugi where the protagonist is very much alive to go to their fantasy land instead of say... Konosuba where they have to fucking die first to get brought to the other world already shows a marked change in the attitude toward escapism, even if it is just as rampant now as it was in the 80s.
Genocides all life in the canvas to sate curiosity of "base world" or "higher reality"
i'm a righteous and upstanding individual
it just needs to be correct.
According to whom is it correct?
No.
Maelle ending is objectively the bad one.
