It really doesn't fix any of the terrible flaws cooking has at all (not actually having to engage with it other than making Ginger Ale and Triple Shot Expressos because you can get the useful dishes elsewhere, like Spicy Eel from serpents and Lucky Lunches from Mystery Boxes), and the EXP rates to level up the skill are egregiously bad but at least the author said that'll be fixed in the future. Romanceable Rasmodia is also extremely overrated, nobody realizes it doesn't actually change the wizard's mannerisms or speech so Rasmodia literally NEVER acts like a woman.

I guess saying "essential" was a bit too broad. I more so meant quality of life mods that add to the game without being blatant cheating mods like "infinite stamina" or something. I remember one of the small things I had issues with was how some of the items didn't have quality, even if them having quality wouldn't matter mush. Things like trash and crab pot catches. Depends on what you want, everybody will give you different answers based on what they like and feel like that is "essential", i could give you a full list of modes that i use but in the end it depends on you whenever you want extra content or tweak vanilla stuff or recolor things. For example there are numerous recolor filers on nexus that change how the whole game looks but the one i like or might use might not be to your liking and so on

This was by far the worst part of the mod, it makes the Ridgeside lack any identity of it's own because half the NPCs from there just hang around in Pelican town. This and the dialogue referencing vanilla NPCs while the vanilla ones never mention them just makes their implementation awkward. Festivals have the worst of this problem since all the Ridgeside NPCs just hang around to the side as if they forced themselves into the festival but weren't allowed to actually participate. Even in the intro to the game you have the mod making fun of itself with

Ginger Island overhaul and removal

It's no secret that ginger island SUCKS and was a bad direction to take the game. Idk how much of it originated with Ape, or how much was podunkian's shitty influence, but I'm willing to bet most of the trash comes from the latter. I'm going to completely remove the island from the game while keeping the majority of the content that was introduced in 1.5 with the following memearrows. I'll try to keep it concise.
The primary issue with the island is that it is so far removed from the mainland. Literally via geography and spiritually via gameplay. It is NOT an extension of the town or your farm, it is the very definition of side content while it's presenting itself as endgame content. Ginger island does not feel like home. This is the core issue which I aim to fix.

island farm. You cannot move your family there. It is effectively a large greenhouse. There is nothing wrong with this concept inherently, but the fact is, it's unlocked with minimal effort (11 walnuts) and can instantly be worked on. It doesn't feel like an upgrade, so it doesn't feel earned. It effectively cost you the boat fix mats and cc completion.

to fix this, make an upgradeable green house. 5 tiers, 2 through robin, 2 through the wizard as magic upgrades. Each time it increases in size up to close to the total size of GI farmable land(which is around 700 or so) The final upgrade effectively transforms the greenhouse into a junimo mystic forest where all plots are autowatered and collected by an ARMY of junimo slaves. The upgrades would be VERY expensive late in the game. millions of gold, prismatic shards, Gold(maybe ir) quality starfruit, STACKS of wood and fiber and stone, etc.

this would make the "big greenhouse farm" that you get on GI actually feel like a reward you work towards along perfection AND make it so that your big greenhouse feels apart of your HOME instead of a completly separate island you have to warp to every time you want to harvest. As it is, GI becomes relegated to a "teleport to once a week to harvest" location instead of feeling like a natural growth of your farm. With the junimo greenhouse, it would actually be PROGRESSION that fits with the lore.

Volcano dungeon. This one is really simple to translate. Instead of a volcano on the island, simply make it a "climbing up" path in the mines via the dwarf. After he trusts you a certain amount of hearts, or after you complete the skull caverns floor 100, he lets you through a secret path that is the volcano dungeon with the dwarvern forge at the top. This would also conveniently match with the theme of climbing to the summit at perfection

furthermore, instead of an island with a grand total of 4(four) npcs, perhaps we can instead have access to a Dwarven village for some more flavor. Perhaps the "leo" npc could be a new kid that was adopted by dwarfs after he got lost in the mines or something, who returns to human civilization when the dwarves trust you bring him back to humankind. Maybe you can get access to ostriches here in the dwarf village, maybe dwarfs love ostriches, idk.

speaking of npcs. Professor snail with his archeology bullshit ass snake spine fuck you now moves into pelican town after the museum is complete and becomes roommates with gunther. Maybe he's gunthers old professor or older brother or something. A new wing is added where the prehistoric fossils can be donated and arranged, which you can now find in...

floors 121-150 of the mines! They are now prehistoric floors. Perhaps you can also find an extended family of ancient crops here (but that outside the scope of just translating GI directly)

the walnut room. Now unlocked as a "secret secret" backroom of the casino once you reach floor 100 of skull caverns and/or do another qi quest that could involve finiding qi gems out in the valley that he's hidden in various places. Very similar to the golden walnut hunt, only it actually would mean something because it gives a new reason to explore a place you already love instead of forcing you to explore the island for them (raccoons now give you hints btw) maybe some qi gems are hidden behind friendship gates, like in villagers rooms, etc. (This idea I'm least keen on and don't think is necessary at all, but still, I'm trying to translate the content directly. The walnut hunt is imo one of the silliest parts of GI). anyways, once you unlock the "secret secret" room, the board of quests, the endgame shop, the perfection tracker, it's all the same as is it in the base game wallnut room

lastly, lastly, the resort where villagers visit sometimes could easily exist as (1.) an upgrade to the bathhouse(which no one ever really uses btw) to make look super nice instead of a run down shitty gayaids palace. (2.) Building an actual resort on the beach, which is severely underused and has pleanty of space. (3.) They can all just fucking go to the CC and hang out like they should be doing anyways. Their schedules should include random days where they just go do stuff in there instead of visit the island resort.

With that, I believe I've covered all of the major content that was introduced with 1.5, but I've changed it in a way that makes all of it feel like a natural progression to the game instead of a completely separate area that is a pain to get to until you build teleporters, is annoying to explore, and doesn't have any lasting value besides the greenhouse farm.
To summarize

island farm -> greenhouse upgrades to junimo mystic forest

volcano dungeon and forge -> dwarf dungeon and forge in the mines

leo -> dwarfkid

fossils -> museum

mines -> DEEPER

walnut(more like walbutt) room and quests -> casino expansion

resort -> bathhouse/beach/CC

With that said, it's with a heavy heart that I must say I find this mod very hard to recommend. It's commendable that the author (a regular on the official pisscord who's also a troonlover) even made a mouse waifu you can impregnate in the first place, but the mod suffers heavily by not going far enough. It needed just the right bit of degeneracy sprinkled in, like a plot point about Lacey doubting herself for falling in love with a human and once she gets over it her romantic dialogue has her getting wet just by referring to her bf as a human. All her portraits are also pretty shit and she desperately needs ones made by an actual furry artist, but at least that's something that could actually happen in the future.

There's also a huge flaw in the writing the author explicitly doesn't give a shit about (in favor of wasting time adding optional dialogue for some other mediocre mouse-related mods) where NOBODY ever acknowledges that a giant mouse is walking around outside of ONE singular event, which also really took me out of the mod once I noticed it.

Cute and inoffensive, but ultimately worthless. The "Mouse Friends" are literally just animated sprites slapped on the map (the shop where you can trade trash for artifacts is good though), and most of them are just vehicles for weird unfunny dialogue that goes nowhere like the Wizard and Guild mice or basic bitch references like the Gravity Falls and Pokemon mice. A good summary of the game's general modding community in a nutshell.

Speaking the Stardew Valley, I am the only one that get creeped out by the original character portraits? There is something uncanny about them, I think is because they are facing directly to the front which makes them look off for some reason.

First, get SMAPI. You'll need this for any mods. It's the spine, brain, skeleton, and nervous system of Stardew Valley modding. You will NOT be modding your game without it:

Follow the installation instructions. It's really easy to install, and it shouldn't take you more than a couple of minutes. From there, just browse Nexusmods and Moddrop for mods that tickle your fancy. Though, if you're just starting, I'd say play a bit unmodded first. At least until the first Winter. That way, you'll know what you want to mod in and change. From there, just ask in Stardew threads for mods. You'll get suggestions here and there depending on how people feel at the time. If you want to just jump in, search the collections for a good pack that's highly endorsed and sounds decent.

Oh, and I forgot to mention, look at what posted. Those are (mostly) the same name as the mods' pages on Nexusmods are. There's a lot of solid choices in there. Just don't download framework/library mods by themselves, and only grab them if they're listed on the mod's requirements. I'll assume you don't know what those are just in case; framework and library mods are like prosthetics, helping another mod work properly. They're built specifically for mods that need more than just SMAPI, and are pretty useless if you don't already have mods that need those frameworks and libraries.

Okay the answer is yes and no. There's a mod loader that can work with PC Mods as long as they're XNB, whatever that means, but no one seems to have touch it for a year. I guess I'll wait til I'm not dirt broke and buy it on Steam sometime. I've bookmarked all the pages you sent. Thanks again, man.

XNB is an image filetype, just like PNG. So it basically means you can't use mods that have assets that are not in XNB format. Unfortunate. Hopefully you can enjoy the game soon.
