Do you skip the Peragus Mining Facility when doing a KoTOR 2 run or do you consider it meaningful enough that it's worth playing through always?

kotor2.png - 1133x564, 733.25K

I only hated Taris and Peragus on my first playthrough, I never skip them.

I only wanted to skip Peragus once after starting about 4 characters in relatively quick succession. I don't re-play often so it has never been a problem since.

no why peragus is a good level
telos on the other hand...

This. Peragus is not bad but Telos is such a slog.

Exactly this. Peragus felt like molasses on a first run, but once you know what it’s setting up, it’s actually kind of based. The atmosphere, Kreia’s cryptic bullshit, HK-50 creeping around—pure sci-fi horror vibes. Taris was just diet Coruscant with loading screens.

I have never skipped any part of any video game. I think less of you if you do.

skips on playing video games to post this

You were saying?

Whole is not part.

That holocon where the men are trapped inside the room and slaughtered by the machine

honestly one of the most memorable parts of kotor2 for me

Kotor 2 is in my top 10 games of all time but the first half the game is "That One Level." Peragus, Telos, Nar Shadaa. The rest of the game is fantastic.

I liked Peragus even on my first playthrough. It was fun piecing things together and even solving the door code with algebra when I was a kid

I like the Telos Restoration Area but Citadel Station can go fuck itself

Telos's Citadel Station reminds me a lot of Deck 4's Mall in System Shock 2.
I just wish there was another entertainment portion other than just the cantina.

Mall.png - 718x502, 294.71K

Never skipping Peragus.

This reminds me that I never played with the restoration mod. How is it?

I'm not as crazy about it as most people. It's interesting what it adds back in but the things it does add back in always stick out like a sore thumb and feel divorced from whatever the original context was supposed to be most of the time. HK section is bad, like playthrough-ending bad if you haven't been stocking up droid upgrades and repair kits. Droid planet is even worse but optional on install.

Sounds brutal. I was hoping it would be worth a play after not touching the game ins many years.

Just make sure HK has a fully upgraded rifle

If you're one of those guys who will be able to instantly spot what's new and what isn't, it can be interesting. It's for the nerds who have already played the game to death. Short of that you could probably take it or leave it.

Droid planet is even worse but optional on install.

I get the modders didn't have much to work with since most of the stuff that was made for the droid planet was put in the other planets, but it's still so fucking tedious and I don't think you get any substantial rewards from it outside of some extra EXP, and Vash getting killed immediately after you talk to her felt like a slap in the face after all that running around.

I used to because it was time consuming and my gaming time was more limited, but I don't anymore. It doesn't take too long to run through it and it's very atmospheric, so it's great for setting the mood.

I just skip Kotor 2 entirely and play Kotor 1 instead

I still don't get why people hate Taris. The only downside to that world is being forced to play without levelling up if you want to metagame the force powers. Other than that it's a decent world.

Peragus is infinitely better than Taris.

The only downside to that world is being forced to play without levelling up if you want to metagame the force powers

How do you mean?

I think most anons mean the rest of the mod. I had almost all of that content restored via individual mods already so I never tried it after reading what was at the time the changelog. Mostly for the reasons you've stated there.

Peragus has a fantastic atmosphere.
This.

Autists like to save the most levels for prestige levels, which isn't even necessary on the hardest difficulty. They're just gay and dumb.

It's not a prestige class. That's from TSL.

having more force powers is more fun

I guess that makes sense for getting the most mileage out of stat growth, but everything pretty much dies to lightning spam even if you're not specced for it since you're showered with stats and enemies don't really get much more powerful over the game.

This
Although, Taris, that I always liked

In 2, dark side becomes just using force crush on everything, since even enemies that save are stopped in their tracks and take damage.

Taris desperately needed better level design I think, I didn't like all the backtracking and load screens.

Malachor...

I run it every time. It varies enough by class and skill distribution that it helps get into the mindset of my character, and I always look forward to seeing which items I get early from the random loot rolls in the dormitory.

both these games are wildly unbalanced in a myriad of ways, I don't see why people would play them for gameplay

Until you get to Malak. Also there are other ways. Storm spam gets boring anyway.

You get Crush at the end. Using it throughout Trayus Academy is how it's intended to be played.

Malak is from Kotor 1...

So is Taris. And the contentious topic of saving up level-ups for Jedi levels.

Oh right, I keep confusing Telos and Taris

I like Peragus.
I don't like Telos.

Peragus is one of the best opening zones in an RPG. Uncovering what happened to the inhabitants, and learning about the plot to sell you off to the Exchange, which was responsible for the station being in its current state, is one of the better plots in a game that has very strong writing across the board. The unexpected arrival of the Harbinger and Sion's introduction were also good. The only thing bad about Peragus is the spacewalk section, because of how slow you move. But that's easily fixed by mods like the Restoration patch, which jack the movement speed up to make it much quicker.

I figured it's something like that.

No, Peragus is based and absolutely critical to K2's story. Even Citadel Station kinda is, but Telos surface is the true bottleneck of the game.

Mocking Query: Coorta? Coorta, are you dead yet?

Kristoffer Tabori is unimaginably based.

Spacewalk is fine. It's supposed to be slow. They should've added something like skip buttons for subsequent playthroughs. The shooting minigames suck more.

it even gives you a diegetic reason for why you can understand aliums different from Revan, peak video james

I've been in a Star Wars mood lately for some reason lately, rewatched the original trilogy. I've never played KotOR 1 or 2. I own both on Steam though. Are they worth going through and are there any essential mods?

The spacewalk section is fast, which was a pleasant surprise. You move like someone on adderall. You're thinking of the seawalk section in 1.

hell yeah
KOTOR 1 needs to be fucked with to get it to run on widescreen monitors, but can otherwise be played pretty much vanilla

KOTOR 2 has the Restored Content Mod which makes it feel a bit more complete. There's also a ton of other mods for it that add a lot of cool stuff like better textures and some neat gameplay mechanics like lightsaber construction and customization, but they require a bit more arcane tinkering than just plug-and-play like the RCM

Manaan

Oh boy I love moving slower than a sloth taking a shit while a race of fish that sound like people gargling cum try to tell me what to do. Another underwater suit walking segment don't mind if I yaba-daba-doooooo!

You can play Kotor 1 and 2 without any mods. If you like Star Wars, then you will enjoy those games but the gameplay is nothing special. Do not savescum and stick to your choices.

Are they worth going through

Yes. The original is similar to OT in spirit. TSL has its moments where it is similar but overall it tries a different thing so don't be caught off-guard by that. Also not everything some character says means it's some divine revelation or fact.

and are there any essential mods?

1 requires at least visual mods to get it running well on modern monitors. 2 has all that rolled in when Aspyr updated it.

Are they worth going through

Abso-fucking-lutely, KOTOR + TotJ comics are some of the best content SW has to offer.

are there any essential mods?

Fullscreen for K1 if can't stomach the 3x4, and K1 community patch and that's about it. The first installment is a complete package so any other mods you'd want to install are purely cosmetic.

For K2 you need The Sith Lords Restored Content Mod 1.8.6 and K2 community patch, but keep in mind the Restored content mod is a bit of a meme.

for some reason lately

Probably because of this month. There's been a ton of Star Wars stuff popping up all throughout it

Meant to add that I have no idea what mods are used nowadays and I've lost the originals of some of those I have installed. I do have some restoration things, improved visuals and even a few equipment pieces. But most of that is in the big restoration mod others mentioned ITT and the rest is probably forever gone now that the forums are long gone.

No, much like Taris in K1, the early game of K2 is pretty fun since you are not insanely overpowered and sometime have to think and use items and so on.

K2 OST > K1 OST

the TOTJ comics are actively bad even if the lore/history is interesting

Taris in K1

pretty fun

If you're retarded.

1 requires at least visual mods to get it running well on modern monitors.

Why?

Never. Spam grenades and use the droid's limited use weapons all the time. Pick force speed as your first power. Don't get lost. Play a female and be sad that Atton doesn't hit on you if you're a guy. Cry. Don't get frozen by those damn turrets. Always have a shield up. It's so easy if you don't horde your items.

Still strange to me that Kotor 1 never got the same treatment. I've always thought K1 was the more popular of the two, at least for the "general audiences".

because it straight-up doesn't work on widescreen resolutions out of the box

It's built for 4:3 monitors and the standard resolutions that were present on them. 1600x1200 is the max.

You can play Kotor 1 and 2 without any mods.

not on my machine

for kotor 1, there's the community patch, which are bug fixes
for kotor 2 there's the restored content patch.

Kotor 2 also has a thing where in 2015, it was patched by ASPYR for native widescreen support, achievements and steam workshop support. But it also has an issue where music is practically muted during dialogue and real time cutscenes, this ends up really damaging the game's atmosphere.
There's also some jitteryness in some locations, so I'd go into your GPU's control panel and cap the game's framerate to whatever your monitor's refresh rate is.

alternately, you can download the LegacyPC version of Kotor 2 (it's a beta option for steam) and manually patch in widescreen stuff (if you want) or the restoration patch (again, if you want).

Both games need vsync on the function properly, otherwise your character gets stuck for some reason.

Is that remake ever coming out? Or was it canceled?

the TOTJ comics are actively bad

I can agree the art is pretty damn inconsistent and even jarring at times, but storywise they're run of the mill Star Wars stories, average but fairly palatable.
You've got it backwards, Taris is only unfun if you're retarded.

They fired the troon a while back and they said it's still in the works. Let's hope it gets Space Marine 2-style love from them.

you don't need it, honestly.
I played through all of kotor 1 recently with 800x600 resolution on a 1920x1080 monitor. I give no fucks.

Or was it canceled?

No, Saber Interactive is working on it currently, but we've yet to hear any relevant news.

v1.03 straight up does and always had. It must be a problem with something else, not monitors.

And? Just let your hardware do the upscaling.

KotOR0000.png - 1280x1024, 756.45K

the writing for 2 turned it into a cult classic, and that in turn kept people caring about it a lot longer than 1. 1 was a smash hit for the time, but it's still very "of its time." Fairly standard Bioware formula, fairly standard Star Wars story. 2 actually tried to do something different with the setting, and that got people stuck on it. So it got the update.

For the love of all gods, don't save levels on Taris, go the 8/12 route

Are you gay? Don't answer that. I know the truth.

But that's easily fixed by mods like the Restoration patch, which jack the movement speed up to make it much quicker.

Even in the unpatched physical copy it's sped way up. The only part that sucks in that section is the unskippable cutscene when the Harbinger comes in to dock.

Bend over, sweaty

Duh. That's why I asked him. The notion of a monitor actually preventing it the game from running is preposterous but all things computer-related have been getting worse for so long and in such ridiculous ways that I had to ask.

I would argue Taris is the only planet where not being a retard is actually rewarded. Especially if you are doing the no-level thing. The rest of the game you can just get by spamming flurry every single encounter like it's a star wars themed cookie clicker.
It's the only part of the game that rewards using energy shields, stims, grenades and med packs, blasters, demolitions and all that stuff.

someone obsessed with muh widescreens and muh nu good accusing anyone else of faggotry

It's gay to be forced into 4:3 when you can fix it.

picture is rolling on an old TV

go to adjust the vertical hold

faggot says "YOU DON'T NEED THAT! IT'S FINE! JUST FOLLOW THE ROLL WITH YOUR EYES! GOD!"

It's just boring, and a lot of it is running back and forth.

I've always thought K1 was the more popular of the two

It actually is.

KOTOR1 is the best Star Wars story in the franchise. It contains every aspect that people love about the universe. The scrappy heroes, bad ass bounty hunters & smugglers, droids and junk aesthetic, small beginnings becoming galaxy saving heroes, a consistent theme on betrayal and redemption, nuanced heroes with their own flaws, fascinating examinations of the Jedi philosophy, and really fantastic mechanics and planets. It's got everything you need. I also give it enormous preference for precedent. KOTOR2 only exists because of the first game. You can't take for granted how many things they kept the same in the sequel because they already worked great (although there's always room for improvements).

KOTOR2 is the wet dream of adult Star Wars fans who've wanted the franchise to "grow up" with them. This is like the single piece of media in the entire franchise that takes itself seriously. It's also positioned as a critique of the traditional Jedi worldview and structure which syncs very well with the public sentiment that exists in real life for criticizing legacy institutions. Those two things together result in a diehard fanbase that hand wave and excuse any narrative clumsiness or straight up broken game design (or at the very least... incredibly frustrating) all to hold onto their precious desire for adult Star Wars. That's fine and all, but if you remove the zeal for that one specific thing it's no contest.

If the game was designed for 4:3 then yeah, any modern update is going to be some shitty compromise. But as long as that thing helps the new intended audiences with their dilations I guess it's no big deal.

It's just boring

Apples and oranges, I love Taris and I'd rate it above some of the latter planets like Kashyyk and some parts of Manaan

It's just boring, and a lot of it is running back and forth.

Guess I just like RPG's to be RPG's. Taris is basically Manaan but with better pacing. I'll take that over endless corridors filled with spider-aliens.

Peragus isn't the problem
Telos station and planet is

Kotor 1 and 2 used to be annual plays for me but ive played them so many times they just aren't fun anymore. Well, maybe not fun isn't quite right but they just aren't engaging anymore. I feel like I've seen everything they have to offer.

I remember Manaan being 2.1 quests: the hotel thing with Jolee's friend, the underwater facility (which was short, though slow), and meeting Canderous's rival. Taris is a LOT of shit, and some of it long. Upper city shit, lower city shit, undercity shit, undercity sewers shit, sith base shit, Davik shit.
Nevermind how the damsel in distress you went through ALL THIS SHIT to rescue didn't actually need help.

Citadel station is fine, the critical plot is straightforward and not too combat heavy, and there are a bunch of smaller optional things to do, especially for the morally shady exile. It's only the surface that really sucks because it's a corridor full of lots of high HP enemies until you get to the ice academy.

If kotor came out today every other faggot on Anon Babble would be calling the game woke dei slop because Bastilla is a strong independent woman who don't need no help.

Probably, but the problem in my mind isn't that she didn't need help, but that you wasted your time rescuing her when she'd probably be strolling around the upper city in a few hours anyway.

PIEROGUS

pierogi.jpg - 964x900, 91.24K

Her face is uncanny in that and very non-Bastila. Everything else seems right, though.

The more I (re)play KOTOR2 the more I realize just how much of a fucking meme the Restored Content mod is

most of the content it "restores" makes the game worse, like all of the overpowered weapons and armor that starts dropping as soon as you get your prestige class

Kaevee with fan voice acting instead of what the developers intentionally replaced her with

extended combat sequences on Nar Shaddaa are an objective downgrade, especially the completely unnecessary Mira/Atton/T3 sequence with horrible balancing

HK factory (poorly optimized boring slog regardless of HK-47's gear)

Kreia being responsible for the Exile being exiled (makes no fucking sense)

Atton's death scene having lines that always assume you didn't discover his past and that you're LS

Atton leaving Malachor with you if alive even though it makes no sense

companion confrontation with Kreia has bad animations, and reuses lines multiple times since some lines are missing

release/kill companion terminal on Malachor with typos and where no one reacts to either options, your companions just run away and say see ya lol

end game is just endless hallways of Sith Assassins, no effort made to actually improve it but hey know what HK FACTORY LMAO

pretty much the biggest issue with the game which is its ending is still botched

it's a corridor full of lots of high HP enemies

You know all those grenades that have been sitting in your inventory taking up space? Start huckin them.

there's a whole line of dialogue about her actually needing help. you and carth make fun of her for it.
either way, she'd still need to find you because plot

he doesn't enjoy running back and forth crossing 5 zones borders each time on the Ayyyys

ftfy

KOTOR1 is full of stuff that would make it seem like a "DEI slop" these days. Those were simpler times
Dunno, I still find something new every time I play them. Truly monumental titles.

KOTOR was made in 2003 when motion capture wasn't a thing yet. They probably scanned a model's actual face for the remake.

Anne Hathaway would make a good face scan for her.

he doesn't enjoy the B L U E C U N N Y

That's what I meant by Manaan but better paced. Manaan was just a talking section that went on too long, and a combat section that went on too long, and an underwater section that went on too long. Taris mixes elements a lot more. Add that with the fact that you actually have to use your brain every once in a while and not just spam one button. It's a decent section of the game.

Yeah, I like Jeremy Soule but Mark Griskey did an objectively better job with music in KOTOR2. It actually sounds like Star Wars music.

Hathaway's a little too old now given that Bastila is supposed to be a >19 year old, maybe in 2003 she would have made a good choice.

>Atton leaving Malachor with you if alive even though it makes no sense

You see Ebon Hawk flying at the end and you never see any corpses in the original. Mira definitely has a chance to stay alive.

especially the completely unnecessary Mira/Atton/T3 sequence with horrible balancing

I like how the duros in those sections range from

8 HP who die to a single saved grenade and are high enough CR to award 400 XP each

to

literally fucking bosses with 200 HP, Master Power Shot, Massive Criticals and 40ish base damage

With absolutely no distinction between them

KOTOR1 is the best Star Wars story in the franchise

Nah

before TSLRCM there was the team gizka attempt at restoring. you can still find the mod somewhere i imagine, they had the atris as kreia ending restored as well.
i always thought their vision(team gizka) was much better than TSLRCM

no blue cunny

not like this...

I only actually replay KOTOR2 if I don't feel like I want to skip the early game.

IIRC most of that can be fixed by the RCM tweak pack

That mod never released, that's why TSLRCM came about in the first place. Team Gizka spent so much time making trailers and not making the fucking mod that a new team had time to band together, organise and complete the whole mod from scratch that the other team were supposedly making. It was an absolute shitshow of modder hubris and attention whoring from Gizka and one of the reasons why I don't mind that TSLRCM is imperfect.

It's got pregnant Padme though

Blue Cunny>Orange Butt Cheeks

FACT Pepe.jpg - 214x215, 38.99K

Both are pretty quickly done. I recently replayed Kotor 2, after a couple years of not touching it. I was out of Telos and aboard the Ebon Hawk in 5 or 6 hours of game time.

Orange Butt Cheeks

Doesn't exist as far as I'm concerned

When I consider replaying KoTOR2, I just spend 20 minutes doing it in my head, I've played it too many times.

posts a reject Neverwinter Nights track when the Old Republic theme, Malak theme, Bastila Theme and Manaan overworld music exist

best

Nice bait lol

yeah

If only she was modeled that way.

Peragus is very linear and boring, I can't understand why anyone would want to play through it twice. Tarris at least has some variation you can get from multiple playthroughs. Overall Peragus is a far better opening though if just judging a single run.

I never played through Kotor 2 even once.
I only played through the original Kotor 13+ years ago when I was stuck on a toaster PC as a teen, so I don't even have any Xbox achievements or Steam play time to prove to people I've played through it.

I could go for another squad-based Star Wars game.

2 is more popular because of it BTFOing Jedi. Also, the waifus are far better.

The station was based. I enjoyed fucking up all of the door guards until the last one just let me in like a bro to avoid getting killed.

*incomprehensible schizobabble*

*turns Atris back to the light side with pure Chadliness*

*sith holocrons seethe*

worst male portrait in game

i'm so fucking sick of the jedi jesus meme it's unreal

sweaty

can't spell sweety

You must be 18+ to post on this website.

Horrible butchering of Vader's character. Not that there was exactly a lot to butcher but by god the prequels made it retarded.

I consider Peragus one of the better parts of the game. It's pure atmosphere.

OH NO NO NO

Daily reminder that kotor 1 was a vastly superior game to kotor 2.

hippos.jpg - 1024x1011, 119.41K

All aspects of Anakin's character were important and made perfect sense in the context of the story. You wouldn't have been happy with any backstory for Darth Vader.

Sure, sweaty

I always did black dude with the twists because of his dead inside look.

This is the objective truth, but fags will disagree with you because of muh story

Or because it was better with better companions. Carth was shit as was Bastila.

I actually liked Bastila. 2 definitely had the better companions though and HK was funnier than he was in 1

Or because it was better

If your broken as fuck game needs hugeass mods to """restore""" it (and still be around 70% complete), it's *objectively* not better.

better companions

Only Atton and Kreia really (and Hanharr too but no one plays DS anyway)

Despite the shittyness of carth I remember his name. And I remember everything about bastilla and I thought she was great. I don't even remember the side characters from kotor 2 at all. That game was so soulless

needs

Poor bait there. Bait on the rest of your post. Mandalore was cooler than Canderous was.Only Bao Dur was a let down.
That is because your lack of intelligence, not the game.

Mandalore was cooler than Canderous

...

Yes, he was cooler as Mandalore, jackass. Or are you too stupid to comprehend what you read?

Mandalore was cooler than Canderous

talk about poor bait lmao

See child.

You said 'than', maybe you don't comprehend what you wrote

KoTOR 2 run

what kind of faggot "runs" KOTOR?

The irony of your post is amazing as you couldn't even end it properly.

Ah I see so THATS why you fucking idiots claim to like kotor 2 the most. You believe that is a way to signal that you are smart because kreas middle school tier pholosphical ramblings blew your mind. It all makes sense now. As well al just liking shittier more niche things can be seen as having a more sophistocated pallet. This is always why Anon Babble only claims to like the shittiest possible metal music from the 80s and Anon Babble only claims to like the least entertaining slice of life garbage possible.

hear let me use the proper grammer and speling that a shitter like you deserves

I will disagree because of gameplay, skill checks and dialogue, the influence system, and builds. Despite being half finished 2 is much more responsive to everything you do than 1 which is what RPGs should do.

I skip breakfast so I can have morning force sex with Visas.

shitposts when BTFO

I accept your concession, child.

puts words in people's mouths when he lacks an argument

Child hands typed your post.
2 is mainly lacking a proper ending.

Canderous as Mandalore in KOTOR2 is like KOTOR1's T3-M4, a non-character. He could've been an NPC or a temporary companion for Onderon and Ravager and have just as much impact.

Right, it's "walking". Or even "booting". Or "double-clicking on the executable file named "swkotor" to execute the Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic game".

2 is mainly lacking a proper ending

No bro the world just feels fucking dead and lifeless. Its immersion breaking and makes the player feel bad. The ending is far from the biggest problem with the game.

I accept your concession

Accept my dick in your mouth, jizzbreath

No and I don't consider a planet complete unless I 100% map out the fog of war either

I reserve Bao for that. If anything he needed restored content.
Not at all.

Real question is if you skip the prologue or not
Real niggas only skip it to keep a bunch of the shit you can gather for free

Malachor...

Bao-Dur.jpg - 430x674, 58.14K

Yes, Bao-Dur, Malachor was very traumatic, boo hoo, now get back in the garage

Does nothing of major note the whole game

Mysteriously 'disappears' at the end.

Thanks for the lightsaber, I guess?

I always play it for the droid flamethrower.

>Mysteriously 'disappears' at the end.

He dead.

>Mysteriously 'disappears' at the end.

It's heavily implied in fact confirmed by Avellone he dies on Telos

How? When?

Despite the shittyness of carth

I never understood this notion of Carth being a shitty companion. He's a pretty good depiction of a simple guy getting involved in something way bigger than himself.

I thought he dies when the Ebon Hawk crashes on Malachor

He just insisted on being a moralfag too much. To the point where it was unrealistic. Like a real dude would only make passive aggressive remarks about how you are an immoral piece of shit so many times before leaving the group or something. He was the Skyler White of space.

Doesn't he get ambushed like T3 does by Go-To.
He's a whiny shit is why. I get his troubles, but I could go talk to a woman if I wanted that kind of bitching.

He just insisted on being a moralfag too much. To the point where it was unrealistic

That's every fucking LS aligned character in KOTOR1.

This is like the single piece of media in the entire franchise that takes itself seriously.

The comics it's based on took themselves seriously too, but since they're comic books they're too short and inherently shallow so mostly fail at their job. A lot of the lore referenced in kotor 1 and 2 come directly from them too.

Totj_kotor1.jpg - 255x392, 28.95K

He constantly whines and doesn't trust anybody. He sucks. The only good companions in 1 were Canderous, HK, Jolee and maybe Mission and maybe Bastila if you really like tsunderes. T3 was a non-character and nobody liked the anthro dyke.

He constantly whines

So, like Atton?

doesn't trust anybody

so... like Atton and pretty much everyone else in K2?

The comics it's based on took themselves seriously too

Did they? Because I remember them as being your typical LS/DS type of Star Wars stories, nothing overly ambitious.

pretty much everyone else in K2?

No...? I'm sorry that you're retarded

prosthetic arm made of hard light

Anakin and Luke both use generic robotic ones

Why? You’d think hard light would be more useful, being able to punch through force fields and all

You can skip it?

Probably harder to manufacture/upkeep or whatever.

Plus maybe some bullshit about radiation or something.

Yeah it’s shit and so is Telos. Talis pretty good for a tutorial level. KOTOR 1 is objectively the superior game, better and more traditional Star Wars story, better planets, soundtrack (mannan especially), characters, etc. I understand the love for KOTOR 2 and its darker elements but 1 is just special

Objectively shit opinion and also gay

He was the Skyler White of space.

Skyler is a complete scumbag though

Jackass hands typed your post.
I like to imagine they had so much more in mind when they created him.
Agreed.

Skylar was basically just Carmella. Why does she get a pass when Skylar doesn't?

No...?

Handmaiden doesn't trust Visas and vice versa

Atton doesn't trust Disciple and Bao-Dur

Mira doesn't trust Atton

Bao-Dur doesn't trust Mandalore

Kreia doesn't trust anybody

HK-47 and Hanharr are self-explanatory

You even get to reference this fact in a conversation with Handmaiden.

I agree that kotor1 is the better piece of star wars media but I still like 2 more. It's just more interesting and and more enjoyable over a dozen playthroughs. Kotor 1 gets stale after you replay it like 6 times.

There's so much replay value hidden in K2 it's unreal, at least if you try to make every playthrough different for yourself.

Carmella is italian, Skylar is a faggot wh*toid

Ulic Quel-droma gets deliberately cut off from the Force and it clears the Dark Side influence out of him, making him a good guy again. He's like a proto-Revan/Exile composite.

Why does she get a pass when Skylar doesn't?

What are you taking about? Even the show basically says Carmella is a scumbag

youtu.be/bzVeLjj6Ao8?si=04g0DaH2__Op38_5

Sure, but that doesn't sound as story taking itself too seriously, just your average SW stuff but with some comic book bullshit thrown in for a good measure.

Yeah but Sopranos fans don't hate her.

KOTOR 1 is objectively the superior game

What objective metrics are you using to come to this conclusion?

more traditional Star Wars story

That's not a good thing.

mannan

Fucking sucks.

like the least entertaining slice of life garbage possible.

It hits different as a wizard.
I was making fun of those shows as a teenager too, but be aware they'll be worth returning to as a traumatized 30 year old virgin.

Bao-Dur doesn't trust Mandalore

You forgot the bit where he tries to tell Kreia to leave and she one-shots him

mannan (soundtrack)

Sion fight is cool Nihilus is objectively shit especially because you can get his mask as an item but not wear it after the fight.

What objective metrics are you using to come to this conclusion?

NTA, but K1 is a complete package and this fact alone makes it better than K2 could ever hope to be.

That's not a good thing.

No, staying true to the spirit of Star Wars is exactly what makes it good.

Fucking sucks

BB characters are cartoonish
all sopranos characters are explicit sociopaths/narcissists
if you're a fan of the rest of the cast it feels hypocritical to call out Carm (partially because she 'fits' as an enabler)

This only happens if you're DS aligned and have high enough influence with Bao-Dur

Anon Babble only claims to like the shittiest possible metal music from the 80s

If you don't listen to metal then what do you listen to? Sissy cuck hypno? Yeah you probably do, faggot

Nah 1 is good but it's surface level and shallow. 2 is better and much more worth replaying.

how much of a mistake is a blaster rifle run in either game?

vader only has a character because the prequels gave him a proper backstory

K1

Big mistake but apparently doable

K2

Gunslinger builds are cool and viable, but dual wielding is more effective

This helps.
Skyler hate would have been considerably lower if characters in the show put her in her place and she took a moment to reflect on her mistakes and personality issues, even if she never corrected her behavior. But no, the BB writers were hacky enough to think it was a good idea to have nobody ever call her out and everybody call Walt out so the audience knows who the good guys and bad guys are. And when Skyler criticizes herself, it's some bullshit like "I'm just not good enough at lying like YOU ARE".

Is there any point to playing pazaak? I beat both games without touching it.

It's actually alright in 2. Rifles can get pretty powerful and there's a good selection of them for all stages in the game.

K2 hates Star Wars

clockwork

I fucking wish, I straight up gave up trying to play them again. Modern hardware just fucks with it to much

female

anon most definitely isn't female

file.gif - 220x220, 24.31K

It tried to have a more complex take on good vs evil with the characters "turning to the dark side" partially from ptsd and Ulic Qel-Dromo just sort of giving up on the whole sith thing after killing his brother.

A pure good vs evil story wouldn't have that, it tried to be more complex, but ultimately failed imo because of how comics are inherently short, shallow, and trashy.

Kotor 2 succeeds in having an abysmal fucking end planter in Malachor and the three Sith Lord bosses are all shit compared to Malak. It’s been years since I’ve played it but the one planet with the sith temple was pretty cool though

I've played both versions.

I have like 15 completed playthroughs. You should know better than to get triggered over someone's PC in an RPG with gender-specific consequences.

1 and 2 are both good
two of the best cRPGs ever in factual

Malik was boring as shit, faggot.
To be fair, female has shitty love interests. All you really get is Atton.

fight Malak on Leviathan

runs away

catch up to him on Star Forge

he sends wave after wave of bullshit at you

finally get to the final boss

he's got a stupid gimmick to try healing himself you have to counter

I'll take three garbage bossfights that have a place in the story than this clown shit

Disciple as well, who's basically nobody.

To be fair, female has shitty love interests. All you really get is Atton.

Disciple's pretty different in gameplay from Brianna even if he is a lot worse and his relations with the other crew members are something you miss completely by only playing males.

never skip anything from this gem
fuck the haters, its one of my all time favorite vidya

they didn’t load up on every stim they saved up to that point and then run around hopped up on meth and force speed draining the healing tanks before Malak could get to them and then three hitting him

Bet you fucking retards sat there and let him heal every time his health got low

What the fuck was his problem?

IMG_5245.jpg - 389x624, 129.87K

7980

I only stim out of game.

file.jpg - 3000x2000, 449.23K

smartest crew member bar Kreia

basically nobody

t. average jedi jesuslet

Local sith lord literally too angry to die

all you really get

Which is why I said this instead of mentioning that shitter.
He is still a shit husbando. One of the reasons I have to support playersexual characters.
Reminds me of how Bioware fucked all of their characters in TOR.

I LOVE BASTILA

bald

TOR

Anon, we don't mention that in KOTOR threads.

You know, for a guy allegedly too mad to die, this guy doesn't really seem all that mad in the game.

Never played these, should i start with 1 or just play 2?

Trust me, I'm all shaking inside

Anon, we don't mention that in KO threads.

ftfy

had to listen to kreia nagging him for too long

I don't play WRPGs.

both

Play both

kotor CHADS.png - 967x892, 95.08K

He was killed in the Sith War. He's been like that for 40 years.

I ALSO LOVE HANDMAIDEN

reddit chart

I expected KOTOR2 to be way higher than that

Forever mad that you never get that OG lightsaber

Scottish. They're all like that.

I HATE ATRIS!

extremely based graph

tfw no kotor 3 by og obssidian

just die in my sleep already

you can definitely make it viable in K1. I remember doing a blaster only run years and years ago and it wasn't hard.

images you can hear in your mind

They used Jennifer Hale's face iirc

So the remake is dead right?

IMG_5246.jpg - 1280x720, 109.57K

No. Saber Interactive is working on it.

I was very interested to see how they would fuck it up. Either they would leave the combat mostly as is and every zoomer would kill themselves or they were turn it into gay ARPG roll slop. I think I'm one of the few people that actually enjoys kotors combat.

Either they would leave the combat mostly as is and every zoomer would kill themselves

Zoomers liked BG3 and E33

Are you asking for remakes of remakes yet? They're getting old, anon. By the second.

Are you asking for remakes of remakes yet?

People already want a second RE1 remake kek.

Deviants liked gay things in BG3. Bots like E33.

You haven't played any of these games. I doubt you even played KOTOR. Kill yourself.

You're right. I didn't play BG3 because I'm not a tranny, and I didn't play E33 because I'm actually a real person. I did, however, play KotOR.

Spoken like a true bot, and yet you have the gall to call yourself a real person lmao

lmao

retard

It's like a law.

I accept your concession, NPC bot.

lmao

do you mean a third?

BG3 is true turn based and has much greater depth to the combat. I would really enjoy a star wars game of that style. Kotor is quasi turn based RTwP which truthfully would be acceptable in a brand new game released today.

do you mean a twelfth?

No she isn't. You're a gay retard and you should go back.

So the remake is dead right?

God I fucking hope so, I do not want ANY studio to touch the EU at all. One can only handle so much rape of their childhood.

I like Kotor 1, but damn Kotor 2 made Revan special. It makes him a sort of mythical figure, not just a hero.

Bastilla is just a western Rin, it's borderline plagiarism

strawmaning this hard

I know who you are, I know what you are, I know what you stand for.

_4069983b.png - 1163x594, 509.86K

I know what you stand for.

Enjoying things? I can see how an American faggot like you would take issue with that. Your pic is very related, she too is an American faggot obsessed with politics.

Even 1 is pretty clear the guy single handedly ended the Mandalorian War and then dragged half the Republic into a new Sith Empire. There's a reason the story is about how the Council kidnapped and brainwashed him because he was basically the only person who could undo what he himself had already done.

I don't replay KOTOR2 because it's shit

Filtered

I remember what dialogue you're talking about, but I don't necessarily think you're supposed to take it literally considering Kreia loves to speak in riddles.
When she says "I have always been here" she basically means manipulating Atris behind the scenes. Once you left to go fight with Revan, Atris fell that day. She idolized you, you were her hero, and her mind became fragile which is when Traya reached out and started planting ideas in her head, things like "she will destroy the order"
and that's when it sort of morphed into this almost dogmatic pain like a desire to punish you for leaving
and that let her start to sow the seeds of exile as a way to let Atris rationalize her pain as justice
that's just how Kreia herself works, she gives those who are already vulnerable to fall a sort of nudge in the right direction

Infinitely superior to KOTOR(1) with the exception of being unfinished because their budget was rugpulled.

This. KOTOR1 is infinitely superior to KOTOR2 with the exception of no viable ranged builds.

I headcannon'd his arm as his own custom work that he had to constantly work on to maintain, but with his proclivities he saw that as a bonus.

handmaiden is autistic

You turn her into a Jedi by punching her in the face until she renounces her oath to Atris

The parts on the Ebon Hawk right after Peragus and when you leave the Polar Academy are the comfiest ones in K2.
Shit hasn't gone down yet and you're chilling on the ship with your companions learning the the history of the Galaxy.

god, the things i would do to this woman

DO NOT HAVE SEX WITH THE MIRELURKS

file.png - 709x739, 503.37K

Griskey's music sounds like Star Wars but how much of it do you remember compared to Soule's? I think it fit the theme of the game being set thousands of years apart from movies

Ofc, rebuilt Jedi enclave is iconic.

I'm actually playing kotor 2 now, and man, Rose tinted glasses thing is real. It's not even about the jank. It's not a good "game"! What decent story is there (and there is) is ruined by the said jank, randomly popping, confusing cutscenes on ebon hawk, poorly tied-together quest chains, poorly designed systems (influence) making it easy to lock yourself out from half the story content if you don't have the meta knowledge or rely on guides because you didn't take a companion with you to a specific spot and quest.

It feels a bit of a chore to play and once you get Force lightning aoe everything becomes trivial outside of companion solo sequences and conditional fights. And even most of those can be cheesed.

If there is a game that deserves a drastic remaster it's this one. There is plenty of good, subversive Star Wars writing but in a very badly executed game. It also lacks replayability due to the nature of the story, possibility of unlocking most content in one playthrough if you know the meta and how unfun the gameplay is compared to kotor 1.

KEK

did i already say i love bastila and handmaiden? i cant remember

how much of it do you remember compared to Soule's?

Battle music in K2 is so much better it's not even a fair comparison
Nar Shaddaa music is freaking sublime, as is Nihilus theme.
Cantina music (the one on Onderon at least) is also vastly superior
And yes, Rebuilt Jedi Enclave is worth at least 1/2 of K1's OST.

spatula

Battle music in K2 is so much better it's not even a fair comparison

To be honest, Soule's always been chronically incapable of writing decent combat music, ambient music is his strongest suit
