New Vegas and FO3 are the same game except New Vegas has a somewhat more interesting premise. The actual writing in game isn't even that much better because of how rushed and badly executed it is.

At some point we all just have to be honest with ourselves and I also have to admit that the only reason why I love Fallout 2 so much was because it was my first RPG where it really felt like I was exploring a world as in at start there was only borderline retarded tribals, then dumbfuck villager hicks and eventually some functional cities, so it really felt like being in a world where location matters. And I was like 10 years old when I played it, so I didnt even understand the 1000 pop culture references they rammed into the game. I probably would hate the game today, if I could ever be convinced to even play through it.

Call me stupid and overly-optimistic but I don't think Bethesda actually wants the setting of New Vegas to be bulldozed and turned into just another wasteland. That would be destroying a lot of marketable imagery and the legacy of a game that basically got a fanbase all on its own with minimal Bethesda input. Todd Howard is not the Great Satan and he's not going to sabotage profits just because a thing he didn't make succeeded.

More importantly if you play Fallout 76 (if not I don't blame you) they had an Atlantic City themed expansion a year ago, which was advertised pretty hard and was blatantly aping some of New Vegas' themes. This expansion had casino families enduring within the city and were obviously Bethesda's attempt at the Three Families without any sort of House figure, Securitrons, NCR vs. Legion, etc. and then on top of that they did a cowboy-themed thing with Nuka World. Those two feel like dry runs for trying to run with New Vegas as a setting without going LOL IT WAS DESTROYED!!1
