Something is off. There is "hype" for the Switch 2, but it also feels like it's not as pumped up as a previous devices. Why is this the case?

IT'S STILL GOING TO SELL

Yes, I didn't say it wasn't. Just that it seems people aren't as excited for this as I'd expected them to be.

Feels like Nintendo did the bare minimum with Switch 2 hardware. Even the games look underwhelming. Everyone expected a ton of new launch-window games considering how slow the drip feed has been over the past few years on Switch1. I don't know what they were spending their time on but shit is disappointing as is.

It'll be a good purchase in maybe 2-3 years, but at launch this thing is looking extremely "MEH".

People have been wanting a Switch 2 for years now, but there's just too many little things that add up that put a damper on the whole situation, like some games having their performance upgrades locked behind paywalls because they put in some dumb extra feature, or the whole fuckery with the game key cards, which Nintendo just had to clarify that they don't plan to use for their first party games.
I mean, imagine how disgruntled a normie that doesn't follow game news at all is going to be when he loads up his old copy of Breath of the Wild on his Switch 2, only for an open palm to stretch out and ask him for 10 bucks to actually play it at 60fps.

My last console was Wii U, I am treating Zelda TotK & Mario Odssey as launch titles, this is the best console launch of all time. I couldn't be more hyped.

here's to another 8 years of eric seething about Nintendo.

you have to pay for the console

you have to pay for online multiplayer

you have to pay extra to get 30 year old games

you know deep down the next pokemon game will be shit

Why would anyone buy this shit? Oh yeah because people are retarded

cheems.png - 705x832, 324.95K

I didn't want just a stronger Switch. Plain and simple. Everyone else did though so I don't know why they're not as excited.

That's because the direct revealed that Nintendo went full jew.

More expensive than it should be

Jews you on game sharing

Jews you on game pricing

Jews you on accessories

Jews you on game upgrades

Probably some other stuff I'm forgetting.
But people can see that nintendo is being unnecessarily greedy on this one. $80 for mario kart really? You gotta pay more if you want physical really?
Fuck that.
As much as I want to play metroid prime 4 on the switch 2. I will be waiting to get mine second hand.

Because it's shrouded by the controversy of high pricing and there's literally just mario kart to play. Despite the console apparently releasing a year later than intended they have nothing much to show for it

Yes, I didn't say it wasn't. Just that it seems people aren't as excited for this as I'd expected them to be.

what is there to talk about? Like how do you imagine it would look like if people were "more excited" for it?
people have already said everything there is to say about it, now that its coming out in like 2 and a half weeks they just wait for the release

its hard to get excited for a console with shitty specs. i mean what is there to be excited about? the main reason why people got excited for consoles in the past is because they were a big improvement in technology. but nintendo no longer even competes in that space anymore. so a new nintendo console is tech that already feels years old.

he’s on the off-cycle Nintendo timeline

How’s that virtual boy and GameCube? Buy a couple switch 2s because they’ll be worth something 20 years from now.

What does it even do that's interesting? The bullshit mouse controls that won't get much use anyway and apparently cramp your hands up from using it too long?

There was unironically more hype for the OLED Switch reveal
Also no games besides an Odyssey reskin, open world slop and "free" 6fps upgraded

Because Nintendo feels anti-consumer at times. But its a pro Switch, why you wouldnt want that?

Odyssey reskin

It has Odyssey structure but DK alone already plays really different to Mario, let alone the concept of the game

open world slop

Just play classic GP, vro

I was already on the fence after the Switch. The details surrounding the Switch 2 only made it easier to jump ship. I’m fully invested in PC gaming now, and it has been dramatically better than my experience with the Switch.

Overpriced games, fake physicals, charging for the manual, controller button locked behind a paywall, terms of service changes, fleecing consumers through accesories, 480p camera with single digit FPS screenshare, redesigned DK, NoA commited to DEI, "just buy a switch 1", it all adds up.

Ok. And?

I stopped being hyped for it when it became hard to actually buy the thing. I didn't even realize it was coming so soon.

Same OS

Same gimmick

Games look marginally better at best

Another gen of third party support being none-existent or just low effort ports

$80 games

Game Key Cards

Doug Bowser, while not having a direct effect on Nintendo's operation is doing a fucking TERRIBLE job with PR right now

Nothing on the horizon beyond Metroid which we've known about since the Switch launch

Switch 1 is still getting heavy support meaning the first half of the Switch 2's life will be just Switch games but they run a little better

It's anyone's guess how Switch 1 upgrades will work. Will Nintendo drip feed them? Is this it? No one fucking knows

Almost 6 months into Mario's 40th anniversary year and Nintendo hasn't even acknowledged it

It'll sell, but there's not a lot to be hyped about.
t. has one preorderd

Regular gamers aren't gonna pay a $500 (+tariffs +Nintendo subscription +tip) toy console just to play Bing Bing Wahoo.

I don't get the lack of games complaint, we have at least 6 notable releases less than a year into the console, that's comparable with the switch 1 2017 lineup and not even getting into third party

MKW

DK

new zelda musou

pokemon

MP4

air riders

If none of those games appeal to you then that's a you problem, inb4

pokemon and metroid are on switch 1 too

BotW and MK8 were on Wii U, does that mean it doesn't count as a switch launch window game?

Oh boy! Can't wait to play Cyberpunk 2077, Elden Ring (Tarnished Edition) and a bunch of other games already on PS5, Xbox and PC. I had countless opportunities for sales and everything, but now I can play the worst version of the games on-the-go!

This is why for me. Also Mario Kart's take on Forza Horizon isn't enough for me to care. The bright side for Nintendo and Nintendo fans is that you can view this as an iPhone situation. Sure the newest iPhone isn't that exciting, but it's an iPhone so people will buy it. Same thing with the Switch 2.

its also the same strat nintendo did with the switch 1

MKW is the only launch title. i could see this being a disappointment for owners of the S1 who feel the need to upgrade. its not a big deal though if this is your entry into the switch

None of that compares with BOTW.

Sales wise, mkw blows it out of the water, hype wise, I’d say dk bananza is a pretty good match for it

MKW

Looks marginally better than 8 and ruining the game for the sake of a shitty open world is doing more harm than good.

b-buh turn off the straight roads

All of the track designs are basic and wide to accommodate 24 racers.

DK

Looks on par with a Switch game and despite Nintendo advertising their new device as being 4K 60 or 1080p 120, DK is targeting 1080p docked and is struggling to hold 60.

New Zelda Musou

Most people stopped caring after Age of Calamity was an unoptimized mess and a lot of people are tired of BoTW's setting.

Pokemon

Most people have wised up to GameFreak's slop. It'll sell on name alone but there's literally nothing to look forward to there.

MP4

We've known about it since 20 fucking 17.

Air Riders

We've seen nothing of it which is legitimately concerning. Air Ride wasn't known for its wealth of content. Will Sakurai charge $70 for 8 or so tracks and a City Trial mode?

dk bananza

Forced soul kusoge.

piss-sisters....is it over for us?

What were they supposed to do? Release DK on the same day and cannibalize their own sales? It's only a month after, nigga. There's plenty of third party slop and indies, not to mention the entire catalogue of the switch 1 eshop + physical back compat to play on launch.

the hype feels forced as fuck like the fans are just doing it out of obligation rather than genuine excitement

MKW and DKB are the only games with dates and info on them

zelda musou

Nebulous winter release date with nothing beyond a teaser trailer. And after the BotW one they did that was literally fanfiction why would anyone be hyped for this one? Especially being based on a game no one liked

pokemon

No release date, not much info, and it’s still a switch game which doesn’t necessitate buying a whole new console for. Also modern-day pokemon

MP4

See above

air riders

Nebulous 2025 release date with no info beyond a teaser trailer
We only know much about a few games, everything else is just teasers with nothing more than “stay tuned for more info” which isn’t enough to make someone care. On the other hand the switch release year gave us something to chew on with a good look at a multitude of games, gameplay and all

BotW and MK8 were on Wii U, does that mean it doesn't count as a switch launch window game?

They have the excuse that no one owned a Wii U

d-doesn't count

kay

Pokemon and Metroid Prime 4 are also coming to the original Switch.

slop

"Soulless" 2: Electric Boogalo.

The sequel of not being able to describe why you dislike thing so you opt to use another S word instead.

Cry about it macaco

layton is also coming out this year

Can confirm

eric is getting increasingly nervous as the release date nears.

what is there to really say at this point other than, "im excited for it to come out", the only other option is to get down in the dirt with the other console war fags but im thirty and no longer care cause i can just buy all of them if I wanted too.

Is this the bargaining stage or the acceptance stage Eric has reached?

Grief-Cycle.jpg - 1754x1241, 282.47K

it's not as pumped up as a previous devices

YOU WERE A FUCKING RETARDED UNDERAGE KID 8 YEARS AGO, PROBABLY 10yo SO SHUT THE FUCK UP

"Looks marginally better than 8 and ruining the game for the sake of a shitty open world is doing more harm than good."

You can actually see pop-in in the gameplay trailers, lmao

Releasing more than one big game per month used to be common back in the good old days.

What were they supposed to do? Release DK on the same day and cannibalize their own sales?

Obviously not, but they can’t complain if I or others don’t get a switch 2 day one if MKW isn’t of interest

There's plenty of third party slop and indies

That can be played elsewhere. Anyone who wanted to play CP2077 has already done so, a switch 2 port isn’t gonna be something people buy the switch 2 in droves for

not to mention the entire catalogue of the switch 1 eshop + physical back compat to play on launch

That doesn’t necessitate the purchase of a $450 system for

My biggest issue with it is its weak launch year

Big launch game is a racing game

Big indie eShop launch game is a racing game

Big new exclusive for it later in 2025 is a racing game

Oh well at least Gamecube should be cool....oh, F-Zero, a racing game

im not complaining. i dont own an S1 and get to enjoy all of its backlog when i eventually buy an S2 but i understand why someone would think that its not a good look to have one launch day game.

I absolutely love my Switch and play it every day but might hold off on getting a Switch 2. At least until DK releases on it.

Lmao I see doomposters are already changing the goalpost after the pre-order news

What does it even do that's interesting?

It has games. All Switch 1 and everything else coming up, starting with MK World abd DK Bananza

b-but I dont want that

Then fuck off

okay so maybe people will buy it in droves but my gut feeling is telling me the hype is probably less maybe kinda sorta

almost no difference in hardware

almost no games at launch

still releasing games on switch 1 next year which is confusing and emphasizing the first point

game prices increase by $20

new $500 fee to continue for the privilege of buying nintendo games

bringing back region-locking

stupid 'C' button that my friends are gonna accidentally keep hitting (cuz the snapshot button wasn't bad enough)

game key cards

gold points removed

nintendo being clear they won't include any cool system interactions like mii-plaza or miiverse ever again. Can't even add fucking jpg background menu themes. They even charge for the demo tour of their system

I'm surprised they haven't gotten rid of miis yet.

It's too expensive and it's nickle and diming you for everything. Expect demand to slow down after the initial preorder rush is over.

I'm sorry your little fomo brain can't comprehend the concept of playing a game past the release date.

Because it's only hardcore tendies hyped for it at this point. I am not kidding when I say I have not seen this kind of negativity for a console launch since the Xbone. Nintendo might have similarly fucked their whole brand here. There are Switch 2 trailers on NoA's Youtube channel with 1m+ views but an over 25% like/dislike ratio and comments full of complaints. This is not good when people are supposed to be hyped.

But the preorders

Yeah, preorders sell out for every console. It's not really an indication of anything especially these days when niggers can just buy 50 units to scalp with bots. And that's not even going into how they didn't sell out in much of the brown FIFA continent like the Switch 1 did.

BotW was the only interesting game for the Switch 1 in the first few months. It's the same deal with the Switch 2 with MKW except we have a brand new 3d platformer the next month rather the next few months like the Switch 1. It's really not that big of a deal.

snoys are now moving on to "w-w-well there's no hype, p-p-p-p-people aren't e-e-e-excited!"

The cope continues to intensify.

Forced raresnoy

Isn't it fomo to buy consoles on the promise of games you might have interest in eventually coming out for it rather than waiting for said games to be available on the console?

I am not kidding when I say I have not seen this kind of negativity for a console launch since the Xbone

The only person I know IRL not excited for it is my little brother and its cause he is 15 and has no hope of getting one unless he gets out of his room and gets a job. My sister and all her friends are planning a Switch 2 party when it comes out. I genuinely think the only people upset are children and poors. The only way the switch 2 fails is if the games also suck, as long as they are good people will buy it and it will be a success.

It generally just feels like there just isn't a point of having new consoles. There are no great new features and games only look marginally better, and in the case on Nintendo not even that. The only reason for us to buy a new console is because games won't be made for the previous one and the only reason for Nintendo to make it is so they can justify the price increase for games. I have one preordered and I am excited to finally get a new Mario Kart after over a decade and Switch getting skipped for a new release, but I am going in expect to be disappointed in the long run. I'm oddly hoping this will turn into another WiiU like Anon Babble seems to want since the WiiU was somehow the last console I wasn't disappointing with.

It's not really an indication of anything

And people bitching on the internet is it?
Remember the Pokémon boycott? Lmao

Preorders are supposedly below 750k globally. there's panic behind the scenes.

Why are they both so blurry?

I don't really like racing games. They're sort of like math since you're supposed to find the best turn angles and lines.

I'm oddly hoping this will turn into another WiiU like Anon Babble seems to want since the WiiU was somehow the last console I wasn't disappointing with

lol the Wii U launched with fucking NSMBU and then months of literally nothing

I can only imagine the rage if they did that with the Switch 2.

NO ONE CAN FUCKING BUY ONE

The only people willing to pay $80 to run around in circles throwing banana peels are parents who don't know any better. Switch 2 isn't manchildren.

Ok then, find me somewhere to place a pre order right now.

It really saddens me how much Nintendo is lowballing their prices. I refuse to buy one until they raise it!

forced concern troll

I will agree the launch looks better that the moment and the only clear issue is the price and over confidence that comes along with it. Nintendo and all other developers are at their best when they are under pressure to recover from a blunder like the WiiU launch lineup and marketing, which turned it around into a nice console even it it never became financially successful.

75 milllion People paid $600 for a PS5 just to replay PS4 multiplats. Switch 2 will be fine.

Errm...did you really need to go there?

My sister and all her friends are planning a Switch 2 party

the only people upset are children and poors

Its telling that Nintendo is now employing low caste Indian subhuman for their shilling. They don't have enough confidence in their products as to use actual humans to promote it.

All that matters to me in the end is that It's no longer a weeb machine, just a normalfag slop

censortendo.png - 859x967, 1.28M

PS5 came out at the start of the pandemic and always had top graphics and strong third party support.

It's just a stronger Switch and almost all of the launch titles are ports. I have one preordered but there isn't really anything I care about until Pokemon ZA releases.

You can almost taste his fear with these threads. Release day is going to be Chris-Chan levels of meltdown.

Graphics don't matter to 90% of people who buy games. 3rd party support is a joke compared to Nintendo's first party support, and Covid boosted a few choice games for the Switch but didn't impact their hardware sales by a lot.

We do not live in optimistic times and the Switch 2 is a child's toy predominantly sought by 30 year old men.

Switch 2 is a piece of shit toy for babies.

switch2.png - 1671x1387, 1.6M

I'm not buying it after the game price increase, I can stomach a $450 console and even $80 controllers but $80 games is crossing the line.

Went from "There's no hype" to "There is hype, but it feels underwhelming" cope

What's next? The switch 2 hype is fake?

We already have gone through that

forced hype

posts sovl game

ok? nice self-own lmao

makes me laugh all the people crying about $80 games as if they aren't just going to get MKW for $50 in the bundle

The Switch 2 already has the reputation among normalfags as being "the overpriced console" whether that's factually true or not and the more dedicated fans think Nintendo is going to brick their console if they use an 8bitdo controller because of their new EULA. Nintendo has alienated all of the demographics that they rely on for their consoles to not be commercial failures.

games should be 20-35 dolla max

Well, there's a few things I can point out for the quieter vibes. First and foremost, we've already seen this kind of thing before. It's just bigger and newer now. Secondly, there's been a huge stink in North America and Europe over the price, while most of Latin America was told to eat shit and can't even get one. Thirdly, it isn't special hardware-wise. Probably doesn't matter to the average so-and-so, but the people more involved about graphics and performance tend to be disappointed over it. Fourthly, there aren't many games to stand up and clap for. Obviously, Mario Kart will sell like wildfire because it's fucking Mario Kart, but everything else doesn't quite have that WOW factor that something like BotW did. Finally, most people have a switch already and will probably just settle for that until the Nintendo Switch 2 looks more appealing.

I sincerely doubt it'll be anywhere near a "flop", much less a Wii U level catastrophe, but there won't be as much hype.

nintendo games arent as fun and dont have as much quality as they used to. they are also getting a lot of satisfaction out of raping and demaking their older franchises. maybe people are just seeing through their slant eyed jew bs?

the more dedicated fans think Nintendo is going to brick their console if they use an 8bitdo controller because of their new EULA

Literally no one believes this

Ps5 has actual games

Here's why you buy the Switch 2.

1) Nintendo games (not third party)
2) It's a hybrid console. Play anywhere and even on a TV screen.

That's it. If you like both of these two things, the Switch 2 is for you. If you care about value priced consoles to play mostly 3rd party games in good enough settings, that's the Series S which, even with the price increase, is still cheaper than the Switch 2 is. The caveat is you lose the hybrid console, lose Nintendo games and play games only digitally. You could buy a PS5 for just $50 more than a Switch 2 and run 3rd party games beautifully that blow away anything the Switch 2 could do, but again. You lose the hybrid functionality and there are no Nintendo games on PlayStation. Nintendo knows that people who buy Nintendo consoles buy them to play Nintendo games. They will give them Mario Kart at launch and even bundle the game in for $50 until the Fall (buy which everyone will need to pay $80 for it). If you're not a Nintendo guy, of course the Switch 2 doesn't look exciting to you even if you have the first Switch. If you ARE a Nintendo guy, it makes sense to be excited for it since it's literally what you asked for: more Nintendo but looking and running better than it has compared to other Nintendo consoles.

Switch 2 is better for third parties

I think I'm going to be buying a complete nintendo switch 2 collection. bring on the shovelware

Here's why you buy the Switch 2.

1) Nintendo games (not third party)

2) It's a hybrid console. Play anywhere and even on a TV screen.

That's it.

Why buy a Switch 2 if the Switch 1 I already have does this?

What are the chances that I can snag a Switch 2 in the month after it releases? I missed the preorder window.

name 5 PlayStation exclusives that aren’t movie games

almost 100%. no one even bothered scalping the switch there was no market for it

likes tendie games

love the hybrid gimmick

like that the switch gets lots of third party games

don't care if third party graphics aren't PS5-level, as long as it has a stable framerate

Skipped PS5/Series X|S because no games

That's my reason for wanting a switch 2

people keep bitching about the price when you can just sell your old switch for a fat discount

The fact you even ask that question proves you aren't the target audience for the Switch 2

Why would Gamestop even want my old Switch? Who would buy it?

Its a ps4 game

all the definitely-not-brazilians on Anon Babble who brag about buying a console 5 years later when the games are cheap because they are winning the fight against capitalism

Nintendo is very clearly more corporate in a way they weren't coming out with the Switch in the interim between Wii U's fiasco and Iwata's passing. It was still very much Iwata-era Nintendo, and we hadn't yet seen how soulless Nintendo's public facing attitude would be yet.
But now, it's obvious that Nintendo is no longer the company that makes really quirky and untrendy quality games like they still kind of were back then. BotW all the way to even DK Bananza shows a Nintendo that's very obviously chasing market-trends with their incessant emphasis on "Player CrEaTiViTY" to cash in on Fortnite and Roblox fans. They've become cynically corporate, and you can tell they're at the stage similarly to what Steve Jobs complained about with Apple, where because "Sales People" get the best financial results they're the ones who end up in senior positions. So Nintendo has an imbalance they didn't used to have now, where it's the Corporate heads of the firm that are making the most important product decisions and the actual dev talent is being oppressed by those demands.

In the end I think most people can tell this is happening, so they're no longer as "in love" with Nintendo as they were in the past.

Gamecube and Switch 2 have a lot in common

IMG_9804.jpg - 1024x656, 94.84K

nothing wildly new or different from the Switch 1 on a conceptual level, though this much is fine on its own

pricing for hardware and games (and the "$450 for the system was never the problem" line is blatant revisionist cope since everyone was confident beforehand that Nintendo would be insane to go above $400)

overreliance on Switch 1 games to promote the system (people actually owned a S1 so that doesn't generate excitement like WiiU ports did for S1)

Nintendo explicitly still rejecting hall effect sticks

Nintendo signaling no intention to ever let S1 games go on sale still, not even the oldest ones, and not including paid DLC with S2 editions of S1 games either

no reveal for a new 3D Mario, it's been 8 years since the last one

no reveal for a new mainline Zelda either (and nobody else's gonna say it but it's also been 8 years since the last new one that WASN'T a mass asset-flip)

a paid fucking tech demo that's basically just a manual with development factoids, while Sony's bundled in a much more robust game for free with the PS5 since day one

Mario Kart World's open world and costumes are a questionable substitute for the wealth of content that 8DX and the Booster Pass had, especially for $80

Donkey Kong's back, but it looks NOTHING like what people have come to expect from Donkey Kong, and looks more like a Chinese clone of Super Mario Odyssey that majorly toes the line of copyright infringement (including DK himself in his ridiculous pants)

Kirby Air Riders is cool but it's also ANOTHER major first-party release that's going to be a racing game; unless MK World is absolute dogshit, it's going to fucking cannibalize this game

The Duskbloods had a ton of excitement until it was quietly revealed later that it's not a proper Souls game but rather another Nightreign type game

Nintendo not revealing prices in the Direct, and completely bungling their shamefully silent rollout of that information afterwards

they’re nothing alike because I can name 10 GameCube games I’d buy right now

It only has Mario Kart and DK. DK isn't even a launch title.

They'll probably start an ad blitz in the next week or so. The prices and other controversy's did their fair share of taking the wind out of the hype sails following the direct.

so we can expect even more shill threads on Anon Babble soon?

100%. Lots of blasts to be had in the next couple months.

it feels more like a wii u 2 than a switch 2

you mean a wii u 3?

no, switch was good
switch 2 doesn't feel like it

Switch was an Iwata product. Switch 2 is a Furukawa product. The difference is palpable, even if not easy to describe in some facets.

oh, I get what you mean now. The wii u was basically what the switch 2 is right now. The difference is that the wii u was specifically marketed to children

May has been agonizing because of the wait. I have not bought a nintendo console since SNES

Its going to be amazing. Just getting mario kart world for now. I already pirated odyssey and TOTK on pc, so no point in buying it on Switch 2.

But guess what is coming? The truly next gen Zelda we have been waiting for.

$450 for the console

$100 for 512GB of mandatory new SD card format memory

$80 for a second controller

$70-$90 a piece for standard games, Deluxe Editions cost over $100

won't see any performance improvements when playing Switch games on the Switch 2, performance enhancements made exclusive to new "Switch 2 Edition" re-releases

no upcoming killer app

$20/year for Nintendo Online

it's just too expensive for how little they're offering in return. i'm not paying $800 for the privilege of re-purchasing Switch 2 Editions of games i already own. i'd rather stow that $800 away for a couple more paychecks and get a $1000 handheld PC from Steam or ASUS, that my whole Steam library and all my PC peripherals will be compatible with for free outta the box.

What's the cope going to be when the Switch 2 outsells the PS5?

fearmonging thread by a sonygro? this thing has 2.2 million preorders in japan alone.

probably the graphics

oh god here THEY come

poor

images.jpg - 300x168, 8.12K

Graphics, fps, etc.

If you really would choose the PC over the Switch 2, you were really a Nintendo fan to begin with. There's not even a guarantee that there will be emulators for it soon and even if it exists, you're not even playing on native hardware. With Nintendo also cracking down on illegal use of their games, have fun trying to play Mario Kart online

The same one he uses in the famitsu threads

"Nintendo made up those numbers. It's all fake and propaganda"

you weren't really a Nintendo fan to begin with

Fixed

I saw one commercial with the Ant Man actor and then it's like it faded out of existence lol.

Wasn't that just on nintendos channel or did you see it elsewhere?

assuming you meant to say, "weren't really a Nintendo fan to begin with", i would agree with that assessment to a point. from a games' standpoint, that really just goes back to what i said before about their lack of a killer app on the horizon. i like Zelda and Smash, but i'm not *dying* to play BotW or ToTK or Smash Ultimate again at a slightly higher resolution. certainly not for $800. the new Mario Kart looks cool, but not $600 cool. the new FromSoft game looks cool, but Nightreign is only a couple weeks away now and i honestly haven't even gotten back around to playing Shadow of Erdtree yet. if that FromSoft game had been a collaborative Zelda project, or we had a new Smash Bros on the horizon, or they were gonna drop Halo and Gears of War on it, i would probably feel differently. as it stands though, Mario Kart 11, Metroid 4, Bloodborne 2, and a buncha re-releases aren't doing it for me at all.

the launch games are shit. i get mario kart sells well but it's not exciting, it's no new mario or zelda.

*Halo and Gears and Call of Duty

you forgot a crucial step in your process

$450 for the console with release firmware

wait for inevitable exploit as nobody wants to pay for $80 games

never give shittendo another dime

the microsd situation is gay but itll probably get better after the consoles been out for a bit and more manufacturers enter the space/start driving the price down.
and no, i will never pay for online, especially not the dogshit servers that nintendo provides. sorry!

i would consider this an enthusiast-level solution, cause most people wouldn't wanna Homebrew or Jailbreak their consoles, but technically you are correct.

you’re right. I am not a blind loyalist

the real enthusiast level solution would be to cut nintendo out of the picture entirely and wait for an emulator, but the current scene is full of fags that bend the knee to a strongly worded letter with no legal precedent. maybe if people valued their privacy instead of posting their front door key on their twitter bio, it wouldnt be an issue.

you can tell they're at the stage similarly to what Steve Jobs complained about with Apple, where because "Sales People" get the best financial results they're the ones who end up in senior positions

But now, it's obvious that Nintendo is no longer the company that makes really quirky and untrendy quality games like they still kind of were back then.

pretty much, yeah. dk is a game about breaking voxels when one of the biggest games of all time is about breaking voxels and now mario kart is open world because open world is popular. the innovation that nintendo used to push doesn't seem to be there anymore, it's just trend chasing like everyone else does and arguably the lack of innovation stretches back to the switch 1. there weren't any potential new franchises as good as mario maker or splatoon from the wii u era let alone the eras before that. ring fit is cool but it's wii fit rpg(and mobile apps were already doing this concept), astral chain might make a come back but third party permanent exclusives are rare as fuck now so that seems unlikely so then it's really just arms and this was a generation where the handheld and console divisions were merged and there's less new relevant ips in it than previous gens.

The only game I care about is Metroid Prime 4 and I'm playing it on Switch 1. Two racing games in the launch year is retarded. DK looks very mediocre because the environment is voxel based and is once again a boring sandbox Nintendo game (like they needed another franchise to fall for this meme). I don't give a shit about MK single player and my friend is already getting a Switch 2 for local multiplayer.

I think this is the least interesting Nintendo lineup ever. At least with the 3DS and Wii-U you still had great games coming out on the Wii (for the 3DS reveal) and 3DS (for the Wii-U reveal). Switch 2 is all Nintendo has...

Two racing games in the launch year is retarded

Also really fucking hypocritical after all the talk of LE F ZERO CAN'T COEXIST WITH MARIO KART ANYMORE. No that fucking NSO spinoff game doesn't count

Don't forget having to buy a $95 pair of joycons if yours break.

PS5 has always been the everyman console, though. If a new and popular game comes out, 9 times out of 10 it's available on Playstation. Nintendo is much, much more gardened off, which is also why not a single person on Anon Babble, Nintendo dickrider central, claims to use it as their sole platform, and always pretends that they have a PC or other console as well.

I am still getting one. However I think the Switch 2 will be my last Nintendo console. That's because I believe Nintendo will release the Switch 3 as a digital only system for $1000 with $120 games. At that point I'll go PC only.

Switch has been my primary console this gen.

just use the switch 1 ones.
youre paying retard tax for a voice chat button.

godlike take

Then you missed out on nearly every important game this gen.

Then you missed out on nearly every important game this gen.

Outside of Elden Ring, I can't think of a single interesting multiplat released this gen.

Wouldn't you have to play it with the kickstand for that to work since the Switch 2 itself is bigger?

wow. i forgot Mario Maker and Splatoon didn't debut on the Switch. they really have been tumbling down for a spell now...

that sounds like a fine solution until you reach a Zelda or Mario puzzle or a Mario Party mini-game you simply cannot participate in because your old Joy-Cons lack the new, proprietary Joy-Con 2 features. they only allowed those hoes to be backwards compat because they know it hardly matters when they're baking game mechanics into their newer controllers.

Switch really is my only console with the only other device I have for video games being my PC that I upgraded last year. I don't play it enough to justify it though. It's literally only for NSO, Outrun and other older games I used to play back then at this point for me. Switch 2, which is just the Switch but stronger and somewhat bigger, will be useless to me so I have no reason for any console this time around.

To each his own. I dislike Switch precisely because of how limiting it is. But if you're happy, then happy gaming. You'll get ER on Switch 2 anyway.

Speaking of Mario Maker, how the fuck are they gonna add a Switch 2 mouse update for Game Builder Garage and not Mario Maker 2? Either they are working on MM3 and want to sell the gimmick or they completely forgot about Mario Maker

>won't see any performance improvements when playing Switch games on the Switch 2

we already know we'll get frame stabilization, shorter loading screens, etc, along with free patches that improve performance

Mario Maker 3D would go hard as fuck. I'd be legitimately excited for that, way more than Mario Kart and Donkey Kong.

Mario Maker 3D announced June. My dad's a Nintendo, habeeb it.

It'd be a god tier announcement.

All of them. Shitch is the real movie games.

I just want a better world map creator with collectable coins and secret exits. They should make it so anyone can put together a world with other people's levels. The world system in MM2 is neat but it takes way too much effort for a single person. If two people use the same level in a world and you've already beaten it it could just autocomplete once you get to it on the map.

Can you prove there is hype for switch 2?

It's like the ps5 launch. Everyone is scalping on hype but there are no games.
Mario kart looks like total shit with the mile wide Sunday drive roads.
DK looks simultaneously like a humiliation ritual and a brainless baby game. Basically elsagate tier brainrot in game form.
Metroid prime 4 is an embarrassment. A lock on single stick shooter design in 2025.
Wheelchair basketball
A fucking single button racer from Kirby aka the lamest character in all of vidya
Probably missing something, but honestly who gives a shit?

No zelda, no mario, no fire emblem, lmao at modern pokemon, and all modern Nintendo games are corporate sanitized "You Got A Star" with even the same soulless font shared across them all. Nintendo is fucking dead for at least one console generation and possibly as many as 3. This is the darkest Nintendo age. The signs were all there and it was a long and slow descent to this point with no discernible course correction or even minor adjustment in sight.

The next 15 years of vidya will see the fall of almost every single AAA studio that doesn't have a live service game. Indies are going to eat the market's lunch. It will be nothing but gacha, CoD/league/gtaonline trash, and indies.

Only tendies are excited for this shit. Every normie I talked to don't even know it's coming out next month. I think it's not gonna do as well as everyone thought.

Go to bed Eric. MKW and DK will keep everyone happy until June's Direct which will as usual be the big one in place of where E3 announcements would go. Nintendo will make an announcement of a tent-pole game and people will lose their fucking minds. Then Nintendo will crank up the price once their second round of Switch 2s go out and it will become unobtanium that everyone wants. Screenshot this.

No one is excited about fucking DK and everyone has their MK needs filled with MK8D. Other than those, there aren't anything else to look forward to. You can play MP4 and Pokemon ZA on the Switch.

I still think its wild how nintendo decided to put up a really good value cheap version for their own people and make all the other inferior races and countries pay for the superior japanese race and no media is calling them out on it.

Did you read what I said before responding?
I said that MKW, you know Nintendo's best selling game, and the promise of Mario Odyssey Monkey Edition will hold for the few weeks before Nintendo makes their biggest annual announcement of a major follow-up. And oh look, it's Mario 40th and they haven't pulled anything big, be a shame if they mainline Mario'd your ass. Anyone who doesn't see this coming is retarded.
