What happened to Halo?
What happened to Halo?
taken over by women queers and coloreds
They decided they didn't want players to talk or compare themselves to each other. They made it harder to gather lobbies and make friends or build competitive dynamics with each game they released. They even removed features from MCC that enabled social interaction when they 'fixed' it in 2019.
It finished.
The original writers left after halo 2 and were replaced with people who didn't care to inhabit the minds of the original creators. They set precedent for ignoring the thematic through-lines of the first two games and going off in bizarre and frankly, gutless directions. So it became lame. Shallow. Then 343 added melodrama.
we finished the fight anon
after 3 there really wasnt really anywhere to take the story
It got modern audience'd
The cutest girls on the team
It ended with Halo 3 then a demon possessed the corpse
It ended with 3, and everything else afterwards is like a cancerous growth.
He finished the fight.
right looks like a cardassian
bro kim cardassian isn't chinese
ODST and Reach were cool. As was Halo Wars. They should have followed suit and made more spin off games.
Chiefs story should have ended with 3.
They kept pouring money into it after Halo CE. Halo losing to every modern shooter on the market will be a blessing looking into the future of the series going forward.
Bloody cardis
umm... they are chinese
Halo 3 development
Writing team is divided in 2
Dudes writing the game
Dudes writing the terminals (aka. collectible lore)
game writers want for humans and forerunners to be a different species
terminal dudes hint in their lore that the humans and the Forerunners are the same species
Divide silently fucks up the pacing and context of several parts of the campaign due to "no accord" being reached
Halo 3 ends with no confirmation of anything
H3 ODST and Reach on development
Joseph Staten heads the writing of the spin-off, he YOLOs H3 ODST by writting it as a noir-like sci-fi game.
Terminal writers fuck off through this, but not because of Joe, simply because of differences during the development of Reach
Campaign writes stay for Reach but that had only one Forerunner tech scene so they can't write about the different species bit yet.
343i is born, several veteral writers fuck off
A bunch of people that did not leave and were in junior or low positions at their respective departments are suddenly ascended to manager or director positions in 343i.
Writing department headed by the people that were pushing for the "Humans are a different species" narrative
Contradictions so hard that 343i has to finance and comission a book trilogy to an expensive sci-fi writer to stop this debacle, this whole trilogy only explaining why humans not being the Forerunners is the case and also this lore dump forces them to base Halo 4 around this to clear up the "misconception" (retcon) that wasn't cleared during the Bungie era of Halo
Halo 4 and 5 crash and burn partially.
Microsoft apparently refuses to let them reboot the series out of fear that they would also fuck it up as they fucked up the remaster of Halo CE once.
Halo Studios (343i name is dead) forced to limp under the weight of their own failures
Contractually obliged to get Halo 7 up and running and it better work or heads are going to roll again (343i got decapitated by MS after INFINITE failed).
feeling nostalgic for a microsoft tech piece that was used to advertise the xbox
silly green man can stay dead, we have had quite enough of him and his shenanigans, real men played quake back in those times
This never happened, Humans were Forerunners in both cases just handled differently. In Bungie campaigns, Forerunners put their seeds on Earth and died when Halo fired, in Terminals, Forerunners were advanced humans that found their cavemen selves on Earth implying that Earth was where they came from. Humans and Forerunners did not separate until Microsoft gain complete control of Halo in 2011 because they hired a guy named Jeremy Patenaude, who was a lore fan during Bungie's days and thought Humans and Forerunners were different species. Microsoft hired him because they wanted to make Halo their own and that fitted with their vision for Halo, that is all.
It was always bad. You couldn't tell because you were a pre-teen and Halo was your first game.
silly green man can stay dead, we have had quite enough of him and his shenanigans
the funny part too is that even if you liked halo this is true but they keep trying to force games with MC + Cortana because they can't come up with new characters.
is it just women now or is this just the women at 343?
Why did 343i decide to make the didact a bad guy and somehow alive? Most retarded thing ever.
This is some of the women at 343. Most HALO STUDIOS devs are white men with unfavo(u)rable hairlines.
It was that shitty normie era of gaming where they try to fuse outside media with games wasting more money on useless crap. We're going back to just making games be games, actual video games thanks to indies and AAs influence. Nature is healing.
Mr Anon, were you...abused...as a child?
John Halo finished the fight like two decades ago. ODST and Reach understood that the series had to move on.
Then 343 got their hands on the franchise and thought there's no way in hell they could craft an interesting plot in a setting with interplanetary warfare unless they're about the adventures of this one fucking guy.
Master Chief is to Halo as Pinhead is to Hellraiser, and the franchise is currently in its Direct-to-DVD era.
Microsoft wanted to make Halo their own. Bungie's Halo was finished, Microsoft's wasn't. Microsoft's Halo and Bungie's Halo might as well be different ips, remember this.
Here's the truth:
The combat & world were not built for longevity in a world centered around microtransactions. CoD will last another 50 years simply because the combat is engaging & the number of guns the devs can make skins for.
more like gaylo
Halo is fucking dead and with the MCC available you don't need to bother with the rest of the series.
Here's the narcissist's opinion more like
we
Who is we?
The same thing that happened at the turn of the century when Counter-Strike quickly became the dominant format of PC shooters over arena shooters.
Call of Duty ditched the WW2 formula in 2007, went to the 21st century and introduced an innovative multiplayer format with metaprogression and killstreaks.
Fact of the matter is the market has always thought realistic, gritty settings were more interesting than scifi and we saw it play out at the end of the 00s, culminating with Black Ops outselling Halo Reach on the 360 in their debut year of 2010.
As fun as it is to treat 343 as a punching bag, fact of the matter is that there was little Halo could do against COD's inexorable might.
slower gameplay
no metaprogression
lamer setting with obtuse head-up-ass storytelling
On the other side of things you have the boomer shooters, the FPS renaissance kicking off in 2013/14. Again with regards to Halo:
slower gameplay
awful map design
regen health/2 weapon limit combat
So Halo can't compete against COD, but it also can't participate in the retro shooter trend because its existence is "remember what shooters were like before Halo?"
Halo is only given an ostensible amount of importance since it was once Xbox's flagship shooter. If it was from anybody else it would have just been regarded as an oddity of the 00s that people would miss less than fucking Timesplitters or something.
Trends are never "Killed" they just move onto something else. Platformers were everywhere in the 80s and 90s but the best selling game of the 3rd, 4th and 5th gen was a Mario title. Mario was, and is, the apex of the genre. A Call of Duty game has been the best selling game of the year for every year for the past decade and a half, minus the three years GTA5, RDR2 and Hogwarts Legacy came out.
tldr: why play Halo when COD exists
the super secret mega cool gaming elite club that youre not invited to because youre trans zoomer halo baby gamer
I heavily believe that Halo will eventually become a singleplayer-only series. There will be remakes that just star the Master Chief, there will be mainline games that push the series forward and just star the Master Chief, there will be even smaller budget spin-off games that star other characters or stars a team if Halo Starfighter is anything to by. Halo Studios seems to be setting up the universe so things like this can happen. Multiplayer may be on its last legs and the multiplayer-only game may be Halo's MP final chance.

This is what happened, Frank O'Connor made his own story.
quake is dead
No, he didn't this guy did. Frankie just followed what Microsoft wanted and hired anyone who wasn't Bungie.
added a bunch of weird aliens and robots that didnt really mesh with the previous ones
then they gave spartans a bunch of silly powers
then i think they made some black helmetless guy the main character instead of john halo
honestly not even sure what the most recent halo was because it fell off so hard
they should use the IP in different genres, friend of mine was big into halo wars and im sure you could make other types of games with spartans, space marines and the covenant
They took away the booty
