Why are aerial combat simulation games a niche genre? You would expect the genre to rival GTA sales
Why are aerial combat simulation games a niche genre? You would expect the genre to rival GTA sales
Ace combat 7 actually did really well in sales if I remember correctly, Definitely not GTA level sales but enough that im confident there will be an ace combat 8
You would expect the genre to rival GTA sales
Would you though?
humanity has longed for flight for millenia
finally a video game genre allows everyone to experience that wonder
it seems obvious
ace combat 8 fall of erusea
Title was spoiled by voice actor resume. It's supposed to come out this year.
sauces?
You would expect the genre to rival GTA sales
No you wouldn't. Operating a plane is difficult compared to just walking around and shooting people.
It came to me in a dream.
Because flight sims aren't that deep at the end of the day. Real life aerial combat is flying in a straight line for hours and then getting hit by a missile fired BVR that you never ever saw coming. Only so much gameplay you can mine from that. Stuff like dogfighting is just a hollywood invention.
Plus there's the machine otaku/nerd angle
We just had a big air dogfight between India and Pakistan.
why have I still not played this game? I own and played the shit out of all the PS2 era ace combat games. I've played 6. I even played fucking assault horizon as bad as that was, and yet I still just haven't played this and it's only $10 most of the time.
and yet, if they remastered 4 / 5 / 0 or ported 6 to modern consoles I would probably consider playing those again.
You would expect the genre to rival GTA sales
not even you believe such bullshit
fukken ... are you afraid of new experiences?
I grew up with the PS2 games and Ace 7 lives up to their legacy and then some
I've picked up project wingman recently i'm up to level 5
I fucking love the canister gunpod, I also really enjoy the multi lock anti ground missiles
It did and they called it War Thunder
Requires a level of autism and patience that most people don't have.
The actual gameplay isn't that deep but reading through and memorising 200 page manuals just to operate the systems is quite deep.
Just beat this game today Anon Babbleros. What did I think of it?
you think trigger is based as fuck
True!
The tunnel run at the end was pretty cancer, though.
lol we tried that with the F-4 in Vietnam. Didn't work and is the very reason the navy created the top gun flight school
The tunnel run at the end was pretty cancer, though.
that's a pretty fucked up way to say absolute kino
sounds like someone sucks and kept crashing
Because anyone who's even remotely serious about fighter jets will play either DCS or Falcon 4.0.
fall of erusea
For the fifth fucking time?
Continental War
Free Erusea
Free Erusea 2: Electric Boogaloo
Lighthouse War
They can't give up it seems.
literally can't play this game without getting sick
good thing this isn't a flight sim then
anything I should know before playing this?
Watch GiTs, read The Bible.
You either appeal to casuals to try make it not-niche and it ends up niche because most people won't even try it and your niche audience hates it, or you go hard to appeal to sim-nuts and basically alienate anyone not looking for that.
Watch GiTs
Did that already
read The Bible
Probably know enough
I guess I'm ready
its even more niche than space sims
do you know about the english vs japanese versions?
A lot of normies don't have the spacial awareness to think about combat in a fully 3D space, let alone the particular movements of aircraft. Dealing with momentum and aerodynamics, even with the highly forgiving physics of Ace Combat, can easily overwhelm most players, and that's before you get to the bit where they're getting shot at.
And then you get to the part where a lot of people who DO have an interest in aerial combat are super fucking autistic about it and won't settle for anything less than Warthunder Realistic settings at the very least, or DCS.
They can BVR all they like, but they'll never have Real Fun...
I want to cum inside huxian
I want to be a fly on the wall at Project Aces. I want to know what they're doing.
yeah, but apparently the japanese version has multiple endings so I'm guessing there's a recommended order
well then just get the translation mod set up and youre good to go
Yeah and it was won by the side whose AWACS could guide the missiles to their target from hundreds of kilometers away.
Japanese version has the actual story, international version doesn't. Make sure you grab the JP one and patch it with the translation.
That the series will never get this good again
Normies cannot comprehend 3-dimensional movement.
1. Archaic systems
2. Lack of random missions
3. No coop
Its literally that simple. AC is a wasted series by the japs.
should I do the endings in order? like A -> B -> C -> D -> E?
It's a comically unambitious franchise, whenever they try something new they immediately abandon every new feature they add to go back to remaking ace combat 2
whatever you want
true ending happens only when you get all endings
The secret ending only kicks in once you've done all the other endings and it doesn't change what it is depending on what order you did things in so go in whatever order you want
It's a good idea to make saves at route changes, which is what I did, so I ended up going C A B D E
UPEO (C) is definitely the happiest ending even if it doesn't really tell you much about what's going on, but other than that, it's up to you
