You are confusing a signal that (You) use to remember a timing that you've already learned through trial and error with an animation which actually informs the player about what is happening visually
absolutely true, i despise when people keep arguing in favor of this shit. i saw this same occasion like 10 times by now
someone complains about an unreadable trial-and-error instant attack that you get hit by once then never again
"what do you mean its untelegraphed?? theres a clear tell!! just memorize the whole move and when it comes out!!!"
vid related is a perfect example of the good vs bad. Almost every attack this boss does, despite the retarded teleports, is well telegraphed even if sudden and fast, you can tell what hes about to do in your first time seeing them. But the 2nd and 3rd kick in the combo that starts at 0:10 is by far the worst part of the fight. First time you face it, its completely unreactable so its trial and error bullshit. In every subsequent time you face it, you always know theyre coming out and theyre trivial, so its stale and puts no pressure on the player
i completely agree with you, i just really want the game to move away from encouraging you to trivializing all of it with one-dimensional rune usage.
part of it is how it can be a struggle to pull out cooler moves and fleshed out movesets in the early game, and you just want to spend all your focus into a bursty high damage attack, and you just find the most direct way to cast it as fast as possible. And then once you have enough focus for a fleshed out fancy moveset involving the fancier runes, that means you have enough focus to constantly cast bursty attacks
parry being much better than anything else at generating focus for rune attacks
theres some silly shit like Risen Blade i suppose
