Make some of the greatest video game music known to man, 8 hours of it

Oh, you wanted more? Check out the bonus tracks on Youtube

Refuses to elaborate

Leaves

sounds all too same-ish, it will lose against DS2's phenomenal OST.

generic epic chant slop

No.

This is not the NieR Automata thread

interviews said he and the singer basically lived together every day for a year just vibe composing the OST

They fucked, right?

DS2's phenomenal OST.

DS1 only had BB's theme

man you vile frenchies really wanna sell this faggy ass game dont you
what kind of fucking ugly freak plays a game like this

when the kino beat drops

You will never a qt French soprano

She has a hyphenated last name

why do you type like a redditor

Good taste

ghesr.png - 409x760, 160.73K

So definitely

there is battle music yeah, but most of the music is not that

Nigger keiichi okabe is literally the best vidya composer out there

This is not a big deal in Europe

you don't even know who composed the tracks you liked

Maybe for you germanics in the faggy north, a medBVLL wouldn't have let the card unredeemed

You heard me. DS1's soundtrack was already a masterpiece and according to journos who played DS2 for 30 hours, the sequel will have an even better OST. So your low budget indie shit le baguette drama snoozefest won't have a chance against this juggernaut of a game.

I dont get the massive praise for the soundtrack, yeah its fine but it's a lot of piano and choir. I think its well placed in the game and that it has an impact on what emotion the scene is trying to convey but on its own it's just good not great

Tintin in Tibet

Absolutely god tier taste OR traumatized as a child and coping with Stockholm syndrome. One or the other.

Implying Death Stranding isn't the king of snoozefests

Did you want more french horns in it maybe?

What are playlists

doesn't release For Those Who Come After for no reason

The only thing holding me back from proclaiming E33's soundtrack god tier are these baffling omissions from the official release

for an ADHD tiktok brained faggot zoomer troon who need explosions and gunshots every few minutes like you maybe yeah

Never seen a game developer team more tryharding their appeal to other gamers with their: OH LOOK, THESE ARE OUR FAVORITE GAMES OF EACH AND EVERY TEAM MEMBER!
Its on the level of virtue signaling, I've only seen mission statements from the lead development sometimes and some other companies just flat out saying we were inspired by games such as X/Y/Z to make this game, hope you enjoy it. No grandstanding on one's personal laundry list of games as if they were a personal CV. I think its pretty funny.

extremely overrated and overhyped shit, just like the game and the fact that zoomer whores like this bitch think it's good should tell you everything how bad it really is

Definitely not into hi-fi music these lot.

Anon Babble will get mad at anything

No, he said Alice would come a few days each month to record with him in his studio.

Its pretty woke, only time you need to wear your gaming history like your CV was when someone asked you those Q&As, nobody really cares beyond what games inspired the game you worked on now.

gamer makes game for gamers

gets mad they share their taste

it’s for people that want to reference a creators influences

woke

not what that word means

thank god, i'd be so mad if a 25 year old got this lucky

No! Not the WOKENESS! Aaaahhhh I'm going insane

2016 ruined this place

should tell you everything how bad

good morning sirs do not redeem the expedition 33 benchod barstards

We are talking about a FRENCH developer here. They are eternal faggots ever after WWII.

Post your current installed games on Steam.

you are monumentally retarded

double dash

good morning sirs do not redeem the expedition 33 benchod barstards

consider killing yourself

Never seen a game developer team more tryharding their appeal to other gamers with their: OH LOOK, THESE ARE OUR FAVORITE GAMES OF EACH AND EVERY TEAM MEMBER

Go on waybackmachine, they had those on their website since 2019 when they were seven people working on their game and their facebook posts were getting 10 likes

I tried this game after everyone relentlessly shilled and it doesn't even have voice acting. wtf? I thought it ripped off JRPGs which have had voice acting for decades. Is this some kind of budget title?

Buy the game retard, your repack cut the voices lmao

Is this the new meme?

and it doesn't even have voice acting

Did you forget to put the audio on?

Most JRPGs have even less voiced dialogue than this

Is that a thing?

this man is so shy in interviews, kinda fun to watch, you know he's the emotional type

The best tracks were done by Keigo Hoashi.

think it's good should tell you everything how bad it really is

india17.mp4 - 480x826, 706.14K

the music is profoundly mediocre, sometimes even annoying with overtly shrill vocals and i don't understand the praise

yeah should've been generic buttrock like in Doom

bloody bastard...

39 here. Same, wouldn't necessarily say the best but easily up there and will be remembered. For me it stands out more than Nier and that says something. It's likely just the younger audience it's lost on, especially when considering not growing up with turn based RPG's etc.

stay mad

Automata's OST has a composer breakdown, as does Drakengard 3.

38 here, Final Fantasy VII is in a league of its own, imo, but COE33 is definitely among the GOATs

what was the plan?

For a stand-alone, non-live service game (aka disqualifying FFXIV's 10+ years of music accumulation and Limbus Company) I actually do think it has the best OST in gaming, with an honorable mention to Library of Ruina.

"If you're 3X and have a computer you must play this game" energy

I agree with all you said and I'm 37

plan?

So which track are they playing live at the Game Awards?

this is why this board should have been deleted when the sharty hacked Anon Babble btw

To The Wilder from Woodkid

Une vie à t'aimer, Une vie à peindre, Une vie à rêver
All 33 minutes of it.

I know Une Vie a Taimer is the big track standing out to people, but I think they should play something like the act 2 overworld theme or a medley of the character themes

I know Une Vie a Taimer is the big track standing out to people

We Lost is better tbqhdesusenpai

for medley? one of the Una vies
for the orchestra yea it's probably Lumiere and such, like the other anon said

youtu.be/pXHE2MH9vLU&t=90

fucking sick ass guitar solo out of nowhere in the middle of the song

in merchant fights where you usually defeat them in 1 minute or less

what the FUCK did he mean by this

Devs in the industry revealing what their favorite games are should be a common occurrence btw. You've got cinema directors constantly cooming over old movies but rarely do you see game devs showing their love for the medium.

This game worth a pirate?

You are genuinly mentally ill.
I can't even pity you because you aren't a human being.

He was (is?) a guitar teacher before working on the game so he was probably just having fun cutting loose

Une vie à rêver

THIRD ENDING DLC WITH MY BELOVED PAINTED ALICIA WHEN

most of it were just fucking remixes of the same 4 songs.

He's literally the next Nobuo Uematsu.

It worked for Undertale

When goblu hits the AVASAVASZ KA VA KA ZA TANAAA

Flying Waters battle theme is 2min ambient build up and then the song in a 2m56s song when you beat mobs in one turn.

I know Une Vie a Taimer is the big track standing out to people,

you'd think so but not really

131815.jpg - 1927x692, 73.94K

So gibberish with some french thrown in.

DrakenNier chaos language successor.

Didn't expect to see Goblu so high up in the list but it pleases me

What a perfect wife

What language is this? That's not French, it sounds Indian

No particular language, I guess, just made up words that sound good

Goblu is so great that when I first heard it I just stopped fighting the enemies so I could hear more of it. It's too bad that the soundtrack version is missing the best bit from the song though
youtu.be/NxfOHQjMy0k?si=xE49q_iidxjb9lGO&t=178

I forgot about that extra vocal part. Oh my god it's exquisite

Why does the mask cover the less scarred side of her face?

this was definitely made in a bed post sex

1.3 million plays in less than a month for an 11 minute song is actually pretty nuts

but I think they should play something like the act 2 overworld theme

youtube.com/watch?v=WAQ4W4ew9is
Déchire la Toile is amazing but I don't think it would really fit during the awards.

Yup, it doesn't have Denuvo so go for it.

Go to bed 33 schizo.
We all hate you.

The manor track has been playing on loop in my head for days now. I can't get rid of it.

youtube.com/watch?v=n5StbilWhRw
All the tracks in Flying Water are god tier

that shift at 2:45

I fucking love it.

Why does the mask cover the less scarred side of her face?

Aline purposefully drew her wrong, as a joke.

y don't lune wear shoes

The bitch didn't even color her.

She's such pure misery porn of a character, it's great but also depressing.

first fight theme in the game (Gustave tutorial fighting Maelle on the rooftops) is called Our Drafts Unite

last fight theme in the game (Alicia vs Verso boss fight) is called Our Drafts Collide

my boy.jpg - 1170x912, 85.23K

That's not Verso

She had a harder life than verso

Suffers way more than Painted Verso, and unlike him, she didn't double cross or kill anyone.

How many years did Aline and Renoir spent trapped in that fucking Monolith

Instead of getting the picto implant tattoos that let you do magic on her arms, she put them on her arms and her legs
So she can now hover and fly kick fireballs with her soles

Implying I haven't restarted the fight until Roulette proked 200% to nuke his second phase.

Didn't google any guides and used my own builds, so I don't feel any shame. Fighting him fair is beyond my ability.

Artorias looking motherfucker

Yeah. Does every major story boss theme have to reuse the main theme in some way? You'd think that Toby Fox composed the soundtrack.

Shit strands 2

lol shit strands 1 was the most pathetic walking simulator, it had ugly characters, lame animations, shit gameplay and shit music.

Bro he recorded most of it in his bedroom, you don't know what's good production.

his title is so unapologetically soulsbornekiroring lmao
shame the title doesn't appear during the fight

flying waters tracks

I'm not saying it's the best music ever, but it activates the right almonds. Shit was so cash.

Does anyone else hear the Severance theme in the open world theme?

Good production

Dude recorded his shit a tiny room in his appartment

i particularly love the sonar-esque motif at the start, on the battle theme

you can produce a masterpiece in your bedroom now. a decent interface and guitar amp sim software is all you need. what year are you living in grandpa?

It's good production wtf are you talking about? Are you retarded? Everyone knows the dude made in his bedroom. That's not some esoteric tid bit. lol

Lumiere obviously

Any frogs here? What the fuck is this about? What the fuck was that whole area about?
My guess it's some papa vs mama shit again.
youtube.com/watch?v=VxfRe9wkj5Y

There's one thing that has been bugging me since the release of the song months ago
youtube.com/watch?v=bvnAAgdgltQ
Is it just me or the vocals are actually a bit too loud? Feels like it drowned out the instruments, particularly the drums.
Idk if it's like that too ingame because i steamrolled the boss too fast to notice due to being overleveled

The side quests are all pointless really as everyone dies in the end anyways

He himself said it wasn't good production, stop being retards.

Most artists are unhappy with their work when they finish it.
all they see are the flaws.
the DOOM ost has tight mixing and achieves hammer and nails the metal/DJent-ish sound it was going for.

Probably because that's what all people said about his music.

Again produce a good sound but did nothing with it. He knows it.

My love. These foes are beneath you.

You, who have fought heaven and earth… and subdued giants…

To find me. To free me from her grasp.

Would you fall now to the likes of them? While your oath remains unfulfilled?

Rise. Your enemies await.

Cleazibart...

nigger doesn’t understand what leitmotif is

I’m convinced that you browns are incapable of thinking abstractly

And there is such a thing as overusing a leitmotif to the point of absurdity.

If the dude didn't want to take advantage of his 15 minutes of fame that's his fault.

He should of put effort into his music.

I guess he didn't care because he knew the game was mediocre shit so he didn't put effort into his music.

My opinion is that you should put effort into your art like Toby Fox. People will still appreciate your effort these days even if it doesn't seem that way.

Whale Bay off the Rayman 2 OST

like Toby Fox

You mean the guy who's only released two chapters of his game after nearly 7 years?

You keep posting this.
You keep getting answers that the notes and progression are different.
You keep posting this.

Sad thing is, there are maybe dozens of thousands of talented composers out there on Soundcloud/Bandcamp/YouTube capable of writing kickass music, but they never get their lucky break like Lorien did, or simply aren't interested in having music careers and just do it for the fun.

I wish more developers took risks like Sandfall when it comes to composers instead of sticking to the more established names.

Please kill yourself you cynical fuck

they never get their lucky break like Lorien did

lucky

Yeah sure, except the guy is a fucking genius and he deserved it, unlike those "dozens of thousands" of talentless nonames.

AAAAAAAAAAAAAH I'M GETTING FILTERED BY THE PARRY SYSTEM
Took me like 4 tries to beat Maelle at the festival

If the story of how Guillaume met him is accurate then it's genuine divine intervention, in some random forum that he wasn't using regularly but happened to be on at that moment

Every time devs try to appeal to their players and project a sense of "we're not like those soulless AAA devs", it just makes me cringe. It's like a politician trying to appeal to their Christian voters by going to church and making a big deal about it.

undertale was amazing.

As for Delta rune, idk the dude can hire a team if he wanted to. He wants to make it his way. Let him

If you think about it, nobody is complaining anymore about elder scrolls 6 taking too long. You could say the same for a lot of big franchises.

After undertale Toby Fox could of just taken his money and rode into the sunset. Everyone would of been fine with it.

unlike those "dozens of thousands" of talentless nonames

Testard had been a literal nobody on Soundcloud for fucking years before Guillaume picked him up. It's quite literally luck.

youtube.com/watch?v=P0w6eaDH_SQ
the songs are so dynamic ingame. i hope theres some way for an extended ost release that includes this.

neoclassical slop

Might as well have had AI generated music
Video game music completely disregarded its soul when it stopped using low quality samples and chiptunes. Gimme some Genesis beats over overproduced, loud chanting orchestras any day of the week

I wish more composers were inspired by prog rock instead of neoclassical/orchestral whatever

beep boop wahoo

It seems like that's how he found most of the developers, it's insane

ask around for quality skills

find quality skills

What's so insane about this?

neoclassical

if you wanted to post your favorite game music you could have done so without parading your stupidity

a uniquely composed OST will lose to popslop collabs

KEK, do Kojimatards really?

What's Alex Moukala doing these days?

Writing generic orchestral slop like he was doing several years ago.

That being said, he does some freelance work for AAA studios occasionally.

what the fuck else would you call it anon

It doesn't follow the industry standards of hiring the people who fucked up a previous project. Like the devs of Ghost of Yotei hiring DA:Veilguard's tranny.

DS2 will have like one or two good orignal tracks and the rest of the ost will be from whatever band Kojima is fellating at the moment. He has good taste in music though so the tracks will at least be good.

Except the CEO is a geniune nerd who loves to play.

That's one of the worst tracks in DS1, along with Fragile's theme.

Kojimbo wastes his Sony millions on getting Hollywood celebs on Valium and make them sleepwalk on a mocap set. He can't work without tardwranglers.

Why aren't these threads banned yet?
Generals belong on Anon Babble

inverse Arafat keffiyah

First time I've seen one, looks better than the normal one.

Sounds like it was lifted from 13 Sentinels

God the new DEWM metal vomit OST was so bad

Just want to say that some of E33 threads I've seen had the highest quality discussion I've ever witnessed on this site

fun guy

survivorship bias

its more there wasnt really much to talk about in recent years. you wanna shitpost together about yasuke again?

Some songs were not good

composes kino score for Killer Instinct

best known for generic buttmetal he made for Doom

It do be like that sometimes

It certainly resembles Sakimoto's style

hopefully you enjoyed them because now that the game has become popular it'll be impossible to discuss it without the usual contrarian shitposters derailed every topic with stupid bullshit

Top 10 track for me, borderline Top 5

Not worshipping the game and thinking it's flawless isn't being a contrarian, that's just having a common sense.

Jeremy Soule's music often uses solo cello passages

ok nintendlet

But I hate Nintendo

Case in point kek

I still don't get the acclaim for the later doom OSTs
I thought the games were alright enough but they were more enjoyable replaced with classic thrash like Kill Em All or something
the djent was not my thing...

it will also have an originally composed soundtrack just like the first game did you stupid fuck

i think the game has flaws for sure but the ost + sound design was the best part of the game.

tintin au tibet

lmao. i think all french millennials played it

I'm just criticizing bro

I thought the soundtrack was good while playing but I listened to it all yesterday and 80% of the tracks sound the same

orchestra slop was bad before this game and its still bad

its more dynamic ingame. theres also parts of the songs missing in the ost that you can hear ingame. in other words, the standalone ost doesnt reflect the music well.

The director/CEO has DMC5 no-hit runs on his YouTube channel from like five years ago

Both E33 and Nier have forgettable tier music. Nier has 0 good tracks. E33 has like 3 or 4 very samey tracks and the one jazzy sax driven gestral song. I wouldn't call either ost bad but neither are amazing.

Nier is overhyped: the game. E33 delivers in a lot of ways but the insistence that the music is somehow peak is bizarre.

It's become so easy to identify jaded retards / shitposters who don't play games with this game

Anon, why respond to something like that? Can't you smell the bullshit?

I think if you don't think this is one of the best OST's in video game history you have bad taste.

NOOOOO DON'T REPLY TO THE CRITICISM ITS ALL BULLSHIT, VE MUST MAINTAIN ZE ECHO CHAMBER!!!!

8 hours of it

He'd been working on it for 5 years, just saying

Brown

Nah, you are right. Someone on the team curated and wrote that list for each person. It has the stink of advertising written all over it. It seemed 33% genuine and 67% cultivated. It read like the "gamer" version of an investor pitch comparing their tentative product to known market products x, y, and z.

Asking for complete randoms and somehow having it all come together into a great game is the insane part

naw, ive gone through the 8 hour ost a few times already. there were a few weak ones that dont really stand out but i dont really fault it. its nearly 8 hours of standout songs. i do hope he releases an even longer version of the ost that includes the missing portions of the music.

smol indie dev

Tbh the fact they hired a capable orchestra and world-class singer to boot indeed "disqualifies" them from being a true indie studio, actual indies have to cope by using MIDI because good musicians can be unreasonably expensive

I finally started playing this last night and it feels like the first time I've been actually excited playing a single player game in 20 years. Who thought that in the year of our lord 2025 the frogs would finally make kino.

Someone on the team curated and wrote that list for each person.

Those lists have been there since 2019, it must have been some great foresight if it was a marketing move

i should add that the ost runs heavy with leitmotifs and multiple versions depending on the situation(you notice this easiest in sirene with her day and night versions that meld into each other as you transition the area zones, and visage with the 3 miniboss variations). so its intentionally samey at times. this isnt a fault but more indicative to the extra effort the ost put in to support the experience.

You fags need medication

Why areso many song nonsense? Why couldn't the song be in french or english?

Can't beat JEREMY SOULE. HIS NAME IS LITERALLY. SOUL. THANK YOU BASED JEREMY FOR MAKING MY CHILDHOOD UNFORGETTABLE. THANK YOU TODD FOR OBLIVION AND SKYRIM BUT FUCK YOU FOR HORSE ARMOR

How come there are no nude modes of her yet

Go ahead, tell us what you think is good music anon.

I hate women

Alicia (the song that plays from the intro) has mostly gibberish lyrics but when you finish the game you get the Maelle song, which is the same but the lyrics are actual French

Some of the gibberish can sort of be decoded if you really want to

The only thing preventing Soule from being an all time GOAT is that he's chronically incapable of writing memorable battle music. His strongest suit is ambient, no one has him beat in that department.

Meh battle Music is overrated. I still meditate and draw to oblivion ost

The more buzzwords you throw in, the more reasonable and grown up you sound, right, kiddo?

Romance era chamber music for the most part

Romance era chamber music

largely falls under the general "classical" umbrella term

DS soundtrack may as well be just one track. They are all in the same genre they all sound the same, they are indistinguishable. E33 has more variety that DS1 and 2 will have combined. I like DS soundtrack and still listen to it, but you are either shitposting or retarded.

Bach’s cello concertos are probably a good starting point

The French have actually made some great games if you look past Ubisoft

Neoclassical is an entirely different sub genre though

Paintress, Dualliste, Sirère

Underappreciated

Nigga please

it's bleebleebleeblah genre

so classical then you fucking faggot

Sure, but when people say "neoclassical" they just mean "something that vaguely sounds like classical music but made in XXI century"

the composer is just promoting and marketing his shitty music here

totally organic thread, also buy an ad, baguette

Shoo schizo, don't you have a BG3 thread to screech autistically at?

Words have meanings. Pretending to be a cretin doesn't make you cool. You are retarded and probably an americunt.

Doubt it's underappreciated, but this is still probably my favorite song in the whole game. Other than Rain from the Ground, it's the one that stuck in my head the most.
youtube.com/watch?v=gwAL9RG5YK8

We Lost is good but it's so much better in the context of the game

nigger doesn't understand that leitmotifs don't need to be shoved into every single track

You are a dumb nigger. You are the blackest retard gorilla nigger I have ever seen.

You are the blackest gorilla nigger I have ever seen

I don't know what the fuck Dark Souls 2 has to do with this game, but you're clinically retarded.

Not what the quote is about, amerilard zoomer.

I saw that the OST was top of the Billboard Classic Music chart, which is impressive but I also didn't know existed so maybe there's no competition. Either way, best OST in at least 5 years.

I guess that's why I can't tell the difference. an NPC making music is just inefficient AI model doing it.

This reminds me of the Made in Abyss movie OST so certified kino

shame they didnt give him some 1hitko protection other than the phase change. i didnt even finish my setup and still killed him early.

Lumiere.

shame they didnt give him some 1hitko protection other than the phase change

If you try to OHKO he'll simply reflect and erase the character who attacked

I'll be honest anon, it's actually worth buying. I pirated 98% of shit and I bought it. But yeah, pirate it at the very least.

True. All my guys were tickling him for only 200k but then the counter attacks would chunk him for 3-5 mil. So I just countered like 4 more moves and it was over lol
Still a great fight

DS2 = Death Stranding 2

Ive been playing games for almost 40 years. Ive owned every major console and am an avid PC gamer. COE33 is the best game I have ever played.

I fucking wish that was canon.

I'm certain there's a member on the team with a foot fetish. The line about Monoco carrying around a bunch of stinky nevron feet was waaaay to obvious.

The sequel to the UPS sim that nobody but Kojimadrones gives two shits about? Come on anon, nobody is biting that bait. La Creatividad is unquestionably the most overrated dev in gaming.

The phase 2 transitions in the 2nd Renoir, Paintress, and Simon fights are all peak just from the music.

they use the excuse that monoco is named after the studio dog and he likes to steal shoes or something. we all know the truth. we know its Stinky Feet Frédéric

IMO there should have been 3 Painted Power pictos. The first one raises cap to 99,999 (from Paintress). Second to 999,999 (from Renoir), third uncapped (from Simon).

do you have the full actual lyrics for the main Act 2 world map song yet?

lumerie is great because its gentle and attention grabbing enough at the same time you can play it in the background over and over and not get bored. Une vie is much more intense and you cant replay it too many times without getting the burnout.

how do i become a video game composer? i cant seem to sit down and put in the effort to learn anything

And Anon Babble's 3x3 threads aren't?

Huh, I didn't know that.

No

That's pretty much what you need to do, sit down and compose. Do you play any instrument?

slop for the easily impressed peasants, absolutely no melodies to remember. any final fantasy, mgs, tekken and etc. etc. ost shits on this like crazy.

They're French

You're too cynical, you don't need to know any music theory to know you're listening to something great. Every normalfag is currently wanking to the OST, saying how great it is.

you're absolutely right there my brother in christ. i prefer they post their preferred pronouns instead.

I tried learning to play on the keyboard 20 years ago, somewhat in earnest since I bought the equipment, but gave up. thinking back about it, it's potent sui-fuel, with 20 years of practice maybe I could have made a track or two by now.

game devs are required to have favorite video games, end of discussion.

I want to play games by a guy who's been gaming for 30 years and ran the gamut, not some zoomer out of college who's first system was the xbox 360.

BASED

Piano is easy as fuck but you have to have a long term goal. Don't waste your time with scales or theory yet, learn to love the instrument, pick it up when you're down and make a small melody, pick it up when you're bored and make some chords.Do you want a couple of tutorials?

I don't really care for any of it, think it's kinda mediocre. Happy for the guy though.

appreciate you taking the time out to humor me bro, but maybe the time has passed for me, have a good one

what does
dark souls 2, dead space 2 or dick sepsis 2 have to do with it?

I will remember the fact a bunch of frogs mindbroke Anon Babble into oblivion.
You can feel the seethe coming from your post, you were probably angrily typing all of that seethe.

I'm not sure how retards are mesmerized by random changeups or just straight up chaotic orchestra with no actual melody (to be fair, there are a few good pieces in Clair Obscur, but not the whole soundtrack).

Melody is what makes music beautiful.

If you want to hear good game soundtracks, I'd check out Halo: Infinite, Assassin's Creed Valhalla, a VERY select few Elden Ring pieces (Final Battle, Lord's Apparition, Volcano Manor, Ruined Forge, some others), The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess. The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim, God of War 4, OG Destiny, Ori and the Will of the Wisps.

Every piece of music in E33 has melody though.

I don't consider complete tonal changeups or circus music melodious.

And the random electric guitar pieces? Garish.

You're trying way too hard. It's an anonymous board sweaty

why are normalfags so impressed with generic content.
why do redditors come here?

I agree, Dark Souls 2 did have good OST, for example Executioniers Chariot

It didnt come out this year though, timetraveller

so they just shat their pants and called it lyrics?

For me its Gustave desu

by making music? stop making excuses and just start

are you me? my parents bought me a pretty nice keyboard when i was younger. i even knew how to play an instrutment (flute) already so i knew how to read notes pretty decently already. Just had to put effort into it and id actually be useful at something now but of course i didnt.

but maybe the time has passed for me,

i felt this way too and im watching youtube vids now. thinking of getting a yamaha weighted 88 key digital piano. about $400-500ish i think off amazon so gonna save up and give it a try again. Dont give up anon, dont waset another 20 years with regret.

so is the only way to actually learn proper parry timings for some of the harder eneies is to actually get hit by the attack? Chromatic Troubador's hit reg for one of it's attacks looks like it's after the actual animation so idk how you're supposed to catch that unless I'm missing somethinig

There are no "random" changeups. You are autistic and cannot actually parse through unconventional and probably even completely ordinary melodies.

is this supposed to be good or impressive?
Its only slightly better than Dork Ages's mild soundtrack.
Can't even top KCD2's or DS2's soundtrack.

Even with all that photoshop she barely cracks 4/10

Anon didn't notice the changeup

You're definitely one of those tards that thought DS3 had the greatest soundtrack ever. lmao

oof that's a lot of tranimeslop

You are autistic and cannot actually parse through unconventional and probably even completely ordinary melodies.

what ive found from Anon Babble being down and E33 is that we have actual born in the wool real autists here who cannot understand human emotions, human face reactions, or comprehend stimuli like normal. Ive had people tell me verso and gustave arent white. that maelle is woke because her forehead is too small. this is straight up actual retard stuff.

Bringing her on as a co-composer probably cost a bit, but I think you're overestimating how much getting a few dozen musicians together for like a week would cost. But I wouldn't be surprised if Kepler sprung for the orchestra like they sprung for the voice acting.

Dodge tells you it's a perfect dodge when you hit the parry window.

he says so, while posting in a thread about E33

it's a french game
a country with no history nor culture can never produce art.
france has never produce art and will never do as long as it's a slave to the sharia law

DS1's ost was alright but his previous games were much better. MGS1-3 all have amazing soundtracks.

france has never produce art

kek ok lets not be so political brain rotted you think that. its one thing to say modern france cant create art anymore but they clearly did.

as it's a slave to the sharia law

I wish.

No one give a shit what music looks like faggot

they clearly did.

Proof?
France has yet to produce any music or illustrations that have worldwide appeal

Imagine existing for over 1000 years and still not having a single known musician

They are inferior to Germans, Italians, Russians and Polacks, but they have a few decent musicians. Saint-Saens, Debussy, Satie, Gounod.

Debussy is by all means american

France is by far the #1 historical cultural power of the West and it's not even close. Thinking otherwise is extreme brainlettism.

produce any music or illustrations that have worldwide appeal

lets ignore impressionism

renoir, cezzane, monet,

Camille saint saens, debussy

every writer moving to paris like the irish, americans, all of europe etc

But i do like german composers so i understand why you say what you do but you are brown who want to pretend whites didnt have history.

Not gettting into the intiial OP's "france has never prouced any art" debate but #1 for western cultural impact would be Italy, not France.

France would clear Italy easy if it wasn’t for Florence

The West

I'd even argue Clair Obscur's soundtrack is no better than your typical JRPG slop soundtrack (again, to be fair, save a few spectacular pieces). It's just that normies got mesmerized by the neo-classical flair of Clair Obscur and gaslit themselves into believing they have a refined taste.

Let's compare Clair Obscur with a random JRPG (Tales of Arise):

Clair Obscur Gestral Merchant - Cribappa Battle Theme - youtu.be/nC9XrJZzwI0?si=p0o-x37C89DlMaTt

Tales of Arise: Flame of the New Dawn Battle Theme - youtu.be/xEVAC9rkDI8?si=zU6a-HK8jVZHBjet

I don't know how anyone can listen to either of those and not say they're cut from the same slop cloth.

How about another? My favorite Clair Obscur piece paired against a similar beat from ToA.

Lettre à Maelle - youtu.be/WoHMioHIJPI?si=TdYdmsKQjxOYLN-P

Hand to Hand (ToA) - youtu.be/Sfl8wLcugok?si=ILiEA16IuCs2AiNG

And how about the menu theme everyone creams their pants over?

Alicia: Claire Obscur - youtu.be/p00EF6_b5pI?si=N9jimj0FCmpqNB_5

Beyond the Dawn: ToA - youtu.be/_q48q1Ey7GI?si=cyFVzLlBAwpxERM6

It's all the same JRPG slop just with a French twist. You could literally interchange any of the Tales of Arise songs in Clair Obscur and it would fit perfectly.

Mind you, I'm in love with Lettre à Maelle, and some of the other pieces from Clair Obscur are simply spectacular, but to be in denial that much of the soundtrack isn't just JRPG slop is is delusional.

This isn't necessarily meant to shit on Tales of Arise either, because I think it actually has a great soundtrack as well. You could argue Clair Obscur has slightly better acoustics, but I think the melodies and even the thematic beats are similar and largely interchangeable.

tales.jpg - 1024x683, 154.68K

you are clearly a bugman, the SOUL is tangible

They both have soul. lmao

It's just people are really trying to convince themselves as if Clair Obscur's soundtrack is groundbreaking and new, but it's not and is heavily inspired by the game genre (which is perfectly fine).

The difference you're hearing is the acoustics—the recording came out better in post because they kept a lot of the natural reverb of the recording studio. You could argue it has "more soul" because of this and it would be fair, but the melody is where you can really pinpoint the sameness of the music.

get a Yamaha p-45 ive had it for about 11 years and this bastard has not let me down once. You can also connect it to a computer and play thousands of other sounds through it

none of those Arise tracks are really noteworthy.
like they're good but sort of in the background. Alicia and Lettre à Maelle are much more emotional songs I'd say many of the songs of the soundtrack are. they're dripping with emotion.

Alicia is still my favorite song in the game. I can listen to that on loop.

Flame of the New Dawn Battle Theme

extremely boring and extremely unbattle like. I went through the rest of the flame songs and they arent particularly memorable or hummable. Myabe its a asian thing but their classical music is mid even though its technically impressive its forgettable.

I was about to make this comment. It becomes monotonous and grating. No one likes violin that much.

it's baroque!

You didn't even know that word before you started glazing this game, stfu

I think E33 feels like its musicianship is higher quality therefore its better, but the actual melodies asides from may Alicia are not as memorable compared to other contemporary music. Thats not me hating on the soundtrack I think its lovely but the core structure of each song is nothing special desu

Yamaha p-45

Looking quickly thats what i stumbled upon as my likely pick. Im not sure what the B in 45B part stands for or if its relevant or a different model but the 45 is what i was aiming for. Thanks for suggesting it to me, makes me feel its the right choice.

jesus christ, dude.

this game is being shilled to hell and back here. its not a turn based rpg and it sucks. dont see the appeal

I just listened to all of them back to back and I agree now with what you were saying. Both soundtracks are good but they do have the contemporary video game classical vibe with similar progressions. I think Clair Obscur sounds like it was recorded differently, like it sounds warmer as if they are in the room with you which is what gives it a leg up in emotional depth

I have no idea how a sentient human can compile all this music into a single post and in the process not be blown away by the sheer colossal power gap between the unremarkable generic jap music and masterfully composed symphonies of E33.

they're both good broski you don't have to pick sides and just be glad we are able to live in a time with great music being written. Don't let the toxic positivity that the game has garnered infect the pure realm of music as well

Kepler is going to milk the fuck out the rights they secured for this game, this is already far bigger than Sifu.
Chances they organize official concerts?

but it's also sort of bland and forgettable, something you wouldn't play outside of playing the actual game

Holy troll. Post 3 of your favorite ost then.

Don't let the toxic positivity

its not toxic if its actually good retard. Toxic positivity is for slop that streamers say is good so they get more sponsorships.

If you skip the victory screens, it's your problem. I stand listening to them all the time.

Why it has a leg for the victory screen which you skip in 1 second I have no clue

All battle themes have a special victory screen version.

I'd even argue Clair Obscur's soundtrack is no better than your typical JRPG slop soundtrack

That's interesting because you would be wrong.

Devs said they hold full rights for the game and Clair Obscur in general. They also said they recieved multiple offers but didn't do anything with them so far.

They need to get on that Artbook and Esquie plushie shit asap because i'm gonna buy them.

Death Stranding had music?

I'm like 95% sure they announced both already.
Kepler has some adaptation rights at least.

They announced both for later this year.

Kepler has some adaptation rights at least.

For the movie yes.

Oh fuck I would go see the shit out of a concert

It's apparent you don't know what toxic positivity is. This is a thread about music which other games do extremely well but because you've made E33 your entire personality you have to declare E33's music is the objectively greatest thing of all time and nothing comes close and any push back hurts your feelings. You are the living breathing embodiment of toxic positivity and your the reason most people are sick of these threads because they cant even compare E33 to other games without having people like you jump on their nuts and have a fit

Same.

SMT IV
Guilty Gear X2
NieR: Automata

e to declare E33's music is the objectively greatest thing of all tim

thats not what toxic positivity is retard.

Toxic positivity is a mindset that emphasizes positivity in all situations, often to the point of ignoring or invalidating negative emotions.

Its shilling something just to be positive. im saying E33 is great because it is.

NieR: Automata

Fair choice the rest are meh. Idk how you can like nier and not like E33 when its clearly heavily inspired by nier. Nonsense words in the song included.

no one is arguing with you that E33 isn't great. But the attitude of having to put down other video game soundtracks because you think E33 is better is what is toxic about it

ah sorry i can see how thats hard for a homosexual to understand why that detail is relevant. Maybe try jerking it to femboy cloud again. might help you.

im sorry anon but the great games of japan are long gone. the boomers are all retired and dead.

NieR: Automata

Not even the best in the series. Gestalt and Drakengard 1 mog.

I genuinely fucking resent Metaphor after having played E33.

An AA game from a new studio and a new composer has 8 hours of music with like 10+ memorable bangers and the best Atlus can manage is 5-8 tracks it then plays ad nauseum for a full 80 hour playthrough.
What exactly is the problem with pointing out that JRPGs are stingy as fuck with the content they provide, despite coming from more established studios?

They're also kino

Yup, we have food at home.
Luckily, we are french. The food at home is just as great.

Oh makes sense

I don't even think people are claiming E33's OST is best soundtrack ever. The original poster of the comment chain felt the need to shit on E33's OST so of course people are gonna hit back when the retort is dime a dozen JRPG orchestral tracks (which are GOOD btw just nothing really to write home about)

FFXIV music sounds like wet fart recently. There are still a few good ones, but overall just ain't how it used to be in quality. Idk the game has been in decline lately

Yeah, they need to add this patch.
Also change the point cost to 1.

I think Clair Obscur sounds like it was recorded differently, like it sounds warmer as if they are in the room with you which is what gives it a leg up in emotional depth

Exactly. Bravo!

I mentioned in a post little after my initial comparison that they likely kept the natural acoustics of their recording studio in post. It sounds exactly how the instruments would in a orchestral theater.

And yes, Clair Obscur definitely has a little more emotional depth do its soundscape, as you pointed out. Glad we can appreciate this insight together.

ok you've got me there. but the point still stands for other instances

sorry this was for

I was never arguing that Tales of Arise was better, I was simply pointing out that Clair Obscur's soundtrack is clearly inspired by the JRPG music genre, and shares many similar progressions to actual JRPG soundtracks.

I wasn't shitting on Clair Obscur's soundtrack either, I just don't find it all that remarkable because I recognize the inspiration behind it.

I wanted to fine the translated version of Clea's battle theme (which looks like latin) but the translation on google come out as complete mush

Clair Obscur's soundtrack is clearly inspired by the JRPG music genre, and shares many similar progressions to actual JRPG soundtracks

How many times do the devs need to make it clear that they were inspired by JRPGs? They have a dozen interviews saying this shit why the fuck were you acting like this was new?

The soundtrack itself is still a standout

I have Verso fatigue.

Actually Lorien's main inspiration is Zelda which isn't a jarpig.

It shows that while she's strict and level headed, she doesn't have a stick shoved up her ass and knows how to unwind and be comfy in her home.

There's too many faggy tracks, not enough chill or hype tracks. It's okay

The soundtrack itself is still a standout

It's unremarkable because of its inspiration. The normies can't get passed the French flair, when at its heart, it's largely just boring JRPG melodies.

There are many, many, many far superior game soundtracks, and some are inspired by JRPGS soundtracks just the same.

Based

They will fly Epic Sax Guy from Moldova to play Monoco's theme.

The composer is a weeb, just look at the vidya he lists on the company website and his interviews. Alice (who composed the vocal parts) participated in the Grissini project, which does a lot of Jap music covers. youtube.com/watch?v=r2VgwXiBfbM

Literally could not have guessed that, Zelda has so many memorable melodies that E33 just lacks. Beautifully arranged music, but it doesn't have that whimsy harmonic soul that Zelda has

saars, how do I redeeming the Lune ai?

Nier's OST is a legit 10/10
still kind of pissed the remaster didn't let you switch back to the original soundtrack

Just putting the normies in their place, anon. Like children, they need to be told "no".

There are clear things that make Clair Obscur's soundtrack a cut above, but I'm not going to pretend some of its technical achievements set it above better soundtracks with better melodies.

Again, I brought up in another post that Halo Infinite, Assassin's Creed Valhalla, a VERY select few Elden Ring pieces (Final Battle, Lord's Apparition, Volcano Manor, Ruined Forge, some others), The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess. The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim, God of War 4, OG Destiny, Ori and the Will of the Wisps, (obv others), are all examples of superior soundtracks. They're all much more consistent, have clear progressions, build up and pay off, and contribute to the overall focused atmosphere and themes of the games and stories—the story and the music goes hand in hand to enhance one another in each game.

sorry i don't understand white flag speech

you just keep trying to force your opinion as the "correct one" while shitting on this games soundtrack. you keep saying that you not trying to shit on this game but you very clearly are.
Like nigger get over yourself if people like this game.

Zelda has so many memorable melodies that E33 just lacks.

wouldnt zelda have more memorable songs because its an older game?

what?

Elden Ring pieces

the only ER that is memorable is prime Radahn. Thats it. The rest is generic orchestra. Bloodbornes a better example. Ludwig, father gascogne, etc are much more significant songs for Fromsoft.
Memorable songs are one that you can recall over and over. Zelda has been reused over and over so its easy to recall them since its a series with many of the same sounds and music. E33 has a ton of memorable songs anyway i disagree but the relevant of zelda is its age i think.

Assassin's Creed Valhalla

Good fucking lord, opinion discarded.

They're all much more consistent, have clear progressions, build up and pay off, and contribute to the overall focused atmosphere and themes of the games and stories—the story and the music goes hand in hand to enhance one another in each game.

You literally described E33's soundtrack, though. It's perfect at all of these qualities.

"Une vie à t'aimer" is literally what you are describing.

Random electric guitar plays.

You can simply just admit you enjoy JRPG slop soundtracks, anon. It's okay. You'll only get judged here. I hear they're more accepting on plebbit.

Not him but Assassin's Creed franchise is known to have epic good soundtracks. Valhalla is one of them

youtube.com/watch?v=Hkg8uiRadpM

What other video game music do you like then because it sounds like Clair Obscur is your first experience in listening to something that isn't anime intros which is why you hold in such high regard

Dark Souls 1 only had Bloodborne's theme

That's how I read that before I realized you were talking about kojina

"Une vie à t'aimer" is literally what you are describing.

It's one song, and not one I particularity like either.

My point is that each song in those other games' soundtracks builds upon one another to tell an entire several hour story through music and melody alone. Clair Obscur has too much dissonance that you can't really get anything out of the music aside from some few pieces. It's not any different than the chaotic tonal changes in the typical JRPG.

Having said that, Lettre à Maelle absolutely mogs the entire Clair Obscur soundtrack, and it's not close.

Not him but id say mozart is.

B > B > M

You're both forgetting about Haydn the man who taught Beethoven all his tricks

Which B is which? I do like beethoven and Bach but idk enough to pick one over the other. Mozart to me just seems to have every song is a light and uplifting melody.

Id also say i really like verdi.

What other video game music do you like then

Pretty much...most of it? But for the most part, the majority of videogame soundtracks have "the good stuff" and tons of filler.

The thing about E33 is that it has good memorable motifs, it has a well defined "default" style, and can accomplish high intensity and slower pieces with the same success, then to prevent itself becoming too formulaic it suddenly shifts genres in a way that doesn't feel too anachronistic.
It has songs that are played commonly, but also rarer tracks that are allowed to be special. Some songs are only in one place. It can do instrumental, vocal, classic, electronic, buttrocky, one track is just some weird poetry piece. Some tracks have random vocal segments or some corny guitar solo will play because the composer is just having fun whilst not being too self-indulgent. There's variants of every battle theme just for the end-screen that sometimes brings entirely new instrumentation or vocals in just for flavour.
It's use of melodies is brilliants, there are loads of recognisable songs you can hum along to. There's tons of music and it's insane because so little of it feels like filler, it's all meat.

Clair Obscur has too much dissonance

No it doesn't and you probably have autism if you think that good soundtracks need to be in a fixed genre.

No it doesn't

It does.

if you think that good soundtracks need to be in a fixed genre.

This is a strawman, my friend. I never said that.

I wish this dude all the best. He's still young, so there is some great potential for more kino

: )
