The reason why people prefer the E33 combat over the Super Mario RPG combat is that it allows them to completely negate all damage taken instead of only reducing damage taken. Combine that with the glass cannon builds and people like that feast or famine sort of gameplay where they 1 shot or get 1 shot without having to think during combat. Throw in the build systems they took from Dark Souls and it gets the minmaxers hard, way harder than a JRPG normally does because there's no grind wall for stats to beat enemies, they can bash their head until they dodge all the attacks properly instead.

It's a bit like Ys, you can either grind your stats higher to tank damage or get good and dodge everything but both are viable options for progression.

It's a lesson about NPCs everyone has to learn at some point. When something is popular enough, it becomes sacred to them and you're not allowed to criticize it.

Probably a lot, you'll run into hard bosses that you can bash your head against by dodging/parrying better just like in Souls games and the weapons even have the same scaling systems that Souls games use with the same sort of stat point allocation. I'd say check it out, it has no Denuvo.

I should mention my favorite game is Bloodborne, and I could never beat Sekiro. But the parry mechanic has been in so many games since I'm starting to get better at it, but I still prefer dodge-rolling.

Go back to sekiro. The parry windows are insanely huge. You can do it anon, your biggest hurdle is your own perception. The frame data doesn't lie that sekiro is a ridiculously easy game.

I will eventually. I just never enjoy parrying the way I enjoy rolling, nor do I ever seem to be as good at it.
I've been playing Khazan lately, and brink dodging is very easy for me, but pulling off any parry at all is a lot harder, even though the only difference seems to be hitting L1 instead of O.
