who is your favorite girl and why?

It's a tie between Hiruka, Kurara and Kyoshika. I wanted to like Tsubasa more, but I feel like the writer's are going to play too safe with her. I completed like 60-70% of the game, so it might change. I'm on the part where I've been given pills. The Box of Blessings is by far the worst route.

Darumi

I really started loving her because of retsnom. I've seen anons here say that other anons overhype retsnom. I don't think it's super amazing, but it did resonate with me emotionally and ultimately that's all I need. Her caring nature, her selflessness, how she hides her true self, all in all Darumi became a super charming character to me. She reminds me of my younger self. I desire to comfort her and be there for her. When she talked about how she feels no one understands her and how she herself also feels incapable of understanding others I felt that. When she becomes the retsnom she can finally understand others by absorbing them, but she has to lose herself in the process. A great tragic heroine. A very lonely soul. One of the kindest people to Takumi in the entire game.

Tsubasa

I think she is the most consistently well written female character. Whilst Darumi only has retsnom really, I enjoyed Tsubasa in both KG and V'ehxness route. She's a sweet and caring girl without being boring. She has interesting character flaws like how impulsive and emotional she can be. I think she feels like the most human member of the cast and she's simply a good girl. I think she's very pretty too. It's cute when she gets excited and passionate.

Kako

It is a shame that she doesn't really get a route centered on her, but she was one of the characters that shined the most to me in the prologue. Super cute design and voice. It's nothing ground breaking sure, but I enjoy the trope of someone who is always protected wanting to become one who protects others themselves. Not being able to persuade her got me and I found it admirable how she stood up for herself and refused to be bossed around any longer. I also loved when she went mental on V'ehxness' corpse. That's what you get for killing her brother, bitch.

I love her because she's such a loving caring person and mother, and commendable how much she holds out and would put up with Kamyuhn.
Not only that but in BoC we see her empathy for the SDU as well simply making her a very mature and good natured person.

I loved her in KG as well with Nozomi and how badly she felt for her.

We needed better Eva and Rebellion routes I want to join my fellow rebels immediately and gang up with Kamyuhn and rescue Eva and have her on our side maybe other commanders too they seemed chill we just overthrow V'exhness and establish peaceful coexistence.

I'm not familiar with the intricacies of nihongo. However, it's common in English to personify personal items, especially favored weapons, with gendered pronouns that would normally be reserved for people or pets. It just makes her autism seem that much more convincing. She's obviously not a dyke. We don't have to squint for those in HL.

Really tragic and one of the best endings in my book (both major retsnom endings). Darumi has a really deep self-loathe and she believes that ultimately no one can understand each other, despite her being a VERY caring person. With Retsnom power, she can finally understand others by absorbing them, but at the same time losing herself and turning into an abomination. Both curse and blessing to her, a curse because she thinks she deserves the worst to happen to herself therefore turning into an abomination, and a blessing because now she's finally able to fully understand others and "help" them. On the flip side though, she also wishes to just die, mainly due to her self-loathe, but it's amplified by her turning into Retsnom. At the very least though, she was killed by the hands of her most loved one and died as a martyr.

Ho, another person who cares about the details with Darumi. However, I believe the main inciting incident that makes Retsnom Darumi different than all the others is being made aware that she wants to live. So fuck that YouTube comment about her self loathing and wanting to die, the whole main thing of Retsnom and getting attached to Takumi was being made aware that she does in fact want to live.

Yeah it's interesting how V'ehxness is actually very important to that aspect of Darumi's character. Darumi is definitely the type of person to change after a near-death experience. Hmm fanfic ideas of Takumi saving Darumi from multiple near death experiences forming...

Finished prologue and 90 days into motherfucking fish route. So far like all presented girls but if we are talking about some preferences then:

Nozomi/Karua

I just have a soft spot for childhood friends even though all Takumi memories about her in prologue feels unnaturally artificial to keep him fighting so I wouldn't be suprised if entire prologue of the prologue section in TRC was a lie and cute sweet girls.
Kako, on the other hand is cute and sweet too but feels more like daughter material than actual romance interest. I mean, she is adorable as a kid would be.

I guess her not wanting to die thing happened with Gaku getting killed? Which explains why she participated in the KG despite Retsnom making it obvious she would only do it to get herself killed. But then she tries to sacrifice herself after Hiruko died despite never really interacting with Takumi's group cause of guilt or whatever. So I guess we went back to square one.

If you do Hiruko route she's incredibly fucking stupid and the dumbest character in the cast. So yes it sounds perfectly plausible.

I’ve brought that up a bunch of times myself as a criticism of the writing. But I did manage to find a sort of excuse I suppose, in that I would keep saying I don’t see Retsnom Darumi wanting to do the KG if she supposedly cares about everyone so much she makes herself the hate magnet for people to vent. But, what I guess could’ve changed her mindset is Gaku and Kurara being killed and being afraid of Takumi. At least for the start she seems to not give a shit about everyone else considering she’s willing to get them all in a game that’ll kill them, but then after Hiruko’s sacrifice she did want to help people as well just like Hiruko did.

And I the Darumi blog poster have saved it. Although I still find the people who actually liked her annoying one note joke clownery to be wrong

Indeed KG is just so anti her Retsnom characterization it made me jump through hoops to try to justify it when it just comes down to different writers. I think Retsnom at least makes you okay with her goofiness in the routes she’s alive, although it hurts my heart to know she doesn’t get to be herself anywhere but Retsnom. Even in KG she talks in her non serious way, it’s only when Takumi catches her sick she drops the act because she was in too much pain to remember, and if he hadn’t questioned her on it she probably wouldn’t have been real with him either in Retsnom.

People who think Uchikoshi is better than Kodaka are room IQ decisionlets who take comfort in the existence of an easy S.F. choice over actually experimenting and making decisions on their own. It's kind of sad but not unexpected, some people never grow the ability to be independent. Don't worry, Uchikoshi has you covered lil babby.

The problem with the Uchikoshi hate is that you never know if you are talking with someone who has an actual problem with the story or someone who just hates him and shits on his writing cause he is still a butthurt ZTD fag

Kodaka routes are standalone stories. Prologue, Second Scenario, Vehxness, Cult, you could play just that one route and experience the narrative and emotional journey he wrote.
Uchikoshi routes are not stories by themselves. If you only play Slasher or Mystery or Box of Blessing or Mystery, you only get a piece of the picture. You have to play all of the routes together to understand the picture he is painting.
And then it's not really a good painting, just a complicated 3D picture that you can observe and go "huh well that's pretty complex and impressive that it all fits together like that"

Some routes are unrealistic and silly for the sake of it.
Shonenslop like Coming of Age or FISH act according to their own logic. Same with the Slasher stuff.
Takumi can lose basically his entire body in one route and be totally fine but in a different one a character is perma dead cause he bled just a little too much.

I'm Uchikoshifag and I liked both ZTD and AINI but I thought everything that he wrote/planned in this was fucking abysmal. There's no excuse for this, it feels like he had a severe brain damage while writing. Absolutely nothing is taken seriously, everything is written ironically and half-heartedly. Shit just happens and gets resolved in the same scene. At least ZTD had some sincerity to it.

Routes like Multiple Eitos fit the core plot and tone better. When you get into the bug shit, and the timeline leaping you’ve officially strayed super far from the prologue’s established narrative and style. The game’s scope causes it to forget what it is sometimes.
I plan to make my own personal roadmaps for replaying the game. One with a broad lineup of the good parts in their best order, and then a tighter run that keeps the tonally consistent essentials leading up to ending 001.
