Witcher 1 and 2 - Somewhat machiavellian but otherwise normal King

Witcher 3 - Suddenly a complete power crazed lunatic, literally worse than Milfguard

radovid.jpg - 1000x1000, 255.52K

The church of the eternal fire was already an insane inquisiton in Sword of Destiny and also in Witcher 1, Radovid just converted I guess

Syphilis is a hell of a thing.

That's a typical path for someone who gets consumed by paranoia and vendettas, if they have power. Accentuated by his associations with the literal Spanish Inquisition.
He was hardly "plain ol' buddy king Rad" before 3 after all though. He was groomed by that psycho Phillipa for a long time, and became obsessed with wanting to torture the bitch mercilessly after he cut himself loose. Burnt her eyes clean out of her head.
Yeah, after the shit he went through with Eilhart, it wouldn't have been a hard sell in the slightest.

Yeah but Philipa deserved it, it wasn't really the same as him going fully deranged in witcher 3

Witcher 1 and 2 - Somewhat machiavellian but otherwise normal King

Witcher 1: knew about Salamandra’s experiments & married Adda to reign over Temeria when Foltest dies

Witcher 2: declares a whole witch hunt on the entire city of Loc Muinne if Triss doesn’t put the blame on Síle de Tansarville

He has been a power hungry piece of shite from the start

Pinocchio.jpg - 850x1015, 166.68K

wrong image. my bad

Witch Hunt.jpg - 686x386, 60.74K

lmao

except Sorcerrers literally plotted to kill several Kings and create their own puppet state and almost though they got away with it, I am sure taht he had 10 years to do throughout investigation when he was forced to together with other rulers in the North and Nilfguard observation carve up what's left of the North.

of course that is all justifiable to you and best course of action is to be a little cuck and surrender to nilfguard

POV: You're Philippa Eilhart, about to give Radovid another forcefem session, he's very excited

goddess.jpg - 2048x2048, 1011.05K

they massacred every established character arc and just tucked characters who played a critical role in 1 and 2 in a fucking cave off in the middle of nowhere with 4 lines of dialogue

well just like the novels

gotta leave space for the Mary sue Ciri story

Suddenly

Must be nice to be as retarded as you

A very small handful of mages committed regicide to establish a mage-state through Saskia

Philippa kills his father

Smartest decision according to (You) is to simply kill every mage

even though chaos in the North is what Nilfgaard wants and they even helped orchestrate this

You are a retarded shitskin. I know you are brown because of your poor grip on the English language and the simple plot of the Witcher games. How does it feel when women of your own race reject you to fuck white dudes with bigger cocks?

Who cares, power corrupts, don't stare into the abyss, etc. etc. it's like a standard narrative beat
What aannoyed me more is how they did my nigga Djikstra dirty, shouldnt've had to choose between him and Roche

2 > 1 > 3

[Glass Him, Again]

Djikstra

he was a lying sack of shit though? betrays you without a thought
Roche is the realest nigga, along with Ves

Too late, we know you a fag now

Witcher 3 doesn't get the flak it deserves.

Radovid literally being insane out of left field with no build up so "le both sides bad" can even be entertained.

Despite this the Nilfs are shown as rational and, for the most part, just imperialistic not even close to being a bad option to Northlanders

Skellige is super sanitized, no trophy wives anywhere, plot there is le heckin vikings with an completely trash conclusion with a villain so obvious it doesn't feel like Witcher by the end

Dijkstra is built up at this planner, cloak and dagger guy.

Tries to kill Roach and Tess right in front of Geralt and his backup plan is literally getting in with a Witcher with an axe

Wild Hunt was very bland, most of the story is chasing a mcguffian instead of building up the villains alongside Ciri

If you're not a book fag, guess what this game is for book fags

No Ivoreth, not even in the DLC to conclude the Squirrel plotline

No callbacks to Witcher 1 beyond 0-effort trash

Entire finale is mostly meh

Has two DLCs, none of them give closure to any of the open plot threads from Witcher 1 or 2

Game's writing peaks at the Bloody Baron and never reaches that level again

As a fan of the games first, Witcher 3 was enormously disappointing and I've had to level with almost 2 decades of people glazing the shit out of it when it's about the most mass appeal, no edge entry in the Witcher.

Like Priscilla doesn't even die in the game and that's something Witcher 1 and 2 absolutely would've done. It's crazy that this series made me go from "maybe the witch did everything they accused her of" to "Why in the fuck would anyone support Radovid, this shit's a cartoon."

OOOOOOOOOOOOODRIIIIIIIIIIIIN
WHERE ARE YOUUUUUUUUU

Court mages are a bunch of manipulative cunts in The Witcher, purging them from time to time is valid
Killing every herborist in the land is stupid however

couldn't fuck the duchess

couldn't fuck the unique shaman

couldn't fuck the fencing girl

couldn't fuck the succubus

No Iorweth

Still immensely weird that Witcher got so much post launch support and they abandoned it. It's arguably one of the bombs that was waiting to go off with the next invasion. It's fully half of the previous games content and had it's own plotlines that were left open at the end of 2.

I guess the devs just decided their fanfiction wasn't as fun as getting to bring Yennifer and Ciri out so they put 99% of the effort on waifu shit instead of interesting storytelling.

Yea they really wrap Geralt's dick up in 3. I was surprised that fencing girl was just a "le black ones are racist" story.

Like bro, look at the North and how much of a shithole it is compared to the South? Go play Blood and Wine. I'd be racist too man.

his backup plan is literally getting in with a Witcher with an axe

I'm 100% sure this was because of deadlines. I legit thought it was a body double or something because 12 hours of characterization just made me think, there's no way this guy is this retarded.

why aren't you omniscient to just know in medieval times who did what

people like you hate righteousness more then they hate evil as you find yourself at the wrong end of righteousness

Smartest decision according to (You) is to simply kill every mage

Bro, did you know play Witcher 2? The Lodge of Sorceresses was absurdly complicit in the assassination of kings, even all the "good" ones you meet had a hand in the plot or were at least aware something was going on (Triss).

From Radovid's prospective, considering the history of the lodge prior and the fact that the most prominent members were directly involved in killing his peers it's actually the most rational and understandable course of action.

You can't trust an order where so many of them were either directly involved in the plot or displaying willful ignorance. Plus they were assets of the Black Ones?

Entire tribes of people have been culled for less. Radovid was completely justified in taking that course of action.

Witcher 1/2: how intelligent people view the world

Witcher 3: Written by a feminist beta male called Marcin Blacha.

picrel

Witcher 2 was written by Sebastien Stepien, who originally directed Cyberpunk in that more Bladerunner esque style we saw before any gameplay reveals. But CDPR went public in 2011 and after Witcher 3 they really started shilling, and the more sanitized and corporate style made him get fired.
During Diablo IV which he got hired to work on, he also faced internal issues with Blizzard because he gave code-names to female NPCs such as "The Raped Woman", very in line with the Tone of Witcher 1/2.

This is how I know the sauce of excellence came from Stepien and that as soon as he stopped being involved after Witcher 2, you can tell it's missing.

God they really wanted you to side with Nilfgaard by the end didn't they?

I am really confused why are they forcing pro NIlfguard narrative?

After fucking shilling Temeria patriotism in first 2 games suddenly they go 180 and discard all of the North propaganda they shilled and go full throtle on NIlfguard dick.

My guess is because Ciri is Emhyrs daughter so since Ciri == good then NIlfguard == good epicerinooooo

too bad he went to work for an even bigger faggot company, and it's kinda funny that he is a good writer when he can barely speak in English

Just a consequence of terrible handling of the problem. The Witcher games were defined by situations where you either choose one of two sides with valid arguments or stay neutral out of "code" stuff (only on Witcher 1).

So CDProjekt had to present the Nilfs as a multisided force with valid arguments for and against them. They then proceeded to fuck this up by having Nilfguard cruelty shown as justifiable and even merciful and then giving these two alternatives.

1. An actual crazy person that will realistically lose his mind and destroy the North postwar
2. A fucking faggot that tries to kill a fan-loved character because he's just a retarded bastard.

The game is pro-Nilfguard strictly because CDProjekt couldn't write the rest of the conflict right.

People complain about Eredin and the Wild Hunt being underwritten, but the White Frost is way fucking worse.

I still don't know how Ciri taking five steps on Hoth saves the multiverse

It really felt retarded that Radovid was somehow going win the war against Nilfguard without your interference. He killed most of his skilled mages and the land that's fractured over the death of kings somehow just falls in a way that lets him swoop up everything without contest and despite the witch hunt occupying 95% of his thoughts he's some how praised as a tactical genius that is constantly outmaneuvering nilfguard in that 5% sparetime

He did nothing wrong and was 100% justified thougheverbeit.

I don't know either. White Frost seems to have been the same thing that gaslit Aldersburg in Witcher 1, but we I don't think I remember a single aspect that even explains it beyond magical entropy.

It's mostly because Radovid is underwritten and all the elements that would've supported a Northern vs. Black One narrative were dropped from 2. The only plot thread that carried forward was Radovid being the lead figure but there isn't an uneasy coalition with him like the Roache endings in Witcher 2 implied.

Him killing Henselt and annexing Kaedwen in the middle of winter during a war makes no sense and he should be facing a lot more threats than just Djkstra and Roche.

Titus Pollo

sauce?

Honestly the game has a problem with this in general where certain choices are just flat out better than others like picking Cerys or Hjalmar as ruler of Skellige

Yes. He talks like an absolute retard, almost like one of the mongrels you're meant to kill.

It's a design-by-committee problem. A lot of TW3's writers are juniors who came straight out of a game dev college, and their way of handling the required "moral ambiguity" of the setting just comes off as "confused" more often than it feels tonally precise.
The whole Bloody Baron segment has so many praises sung about it, but to me it always felt like they were awkwardly pivoting between "sympathetic vs unsympathetic" without proper emphasis, so it just feels narratively confused in the end.

my personal headcanon is that Radovid's "tactical genius" is just that the Pontar was enough of a speed bump for shit to fall apart for Nilfgaard internally, the game kinda hints at this considering they have to give suzerainty of half of Velen to a robber baron since they dont have the resources and men available to manage it. the rest of occupied Tameria, Lyria and Aedirn are probably fucked up with refugees, disorder and famine as well.

I wanted to fuck that Werewolf girl from the DLC but it wouldn't let me.

show.jpg - 440x248, 9.96K

It makes sense Velen is hard to occupy though because it's a fucking swamp. Better to just give it to someone who will keep the area from troubling you until the war is over so you can focus on fronts that aren't impassable swamps.

I dont disagree, it is the practical thing to do realistically, however as i see its an indication that the Nilfgaardians arent able to conduct the war in the manner theyre used to. In the lore Nilfgaard is able to take so much ground in such a short amount of time because they caught the North by surprise, and their larger, more organised armies ar able to overrun or outmaneuver their enemies before theyre able to put up proper resistance. The fact that theyre spread thin in the first place is indicating to me that things arent going as they'd like to

Should I play through W1/W2 and try to play through W3 main story again, instead of quitting because of the side quests?

There's no point to play W1 or W2 because W3 has a canon route and none of the interesting plot details in 2 have any conclusions in 3.

If you really like the Witcher universe, yes. Just remember that people don’t exactly play Witcher games for the gameplay besides maybe 3

Honestly if they were going to make Ciri the main character they should've saved the White Frost for Witcher IV

The story in Witcher 1 is boring, it's Resident Evil tier, 3 has a much better story

Start up Witcher 3

Approximate the choices of my first playthrough of Witcher 2 (Roche, Henselt dead, freed Triss, spared Letho etc)

Oh wow the really put a lot of thought into this world. Getting tons of stuff with Roche and Ves, and Redania has naturally taken over the North.

Finish playthrough

Time to try again with the classic Iorveth/'Good Ending'

Henselt still dies and Redania still takes over. Witch hunts happen regardless. No Iorveth or Saskia

Turns out Witcher 2 choices don't matter at all

I am still mad.
