Very few. It's mostly Koreans and Chinese who play at the top level. EU was pretty good for a minute there too. NA has been the streamer region for a long time.

NA's troubles always boiled down to the orgs. None of them were remotely professional the way other regions ran shit. TSM as run by Regi was the biggest joke.

As with many other champs, Riot gutted Sona because players refused to play her "the correct way", which is the brain dead boring way you mentioned. Riot hasn't fixed Sona because in their mind she isn't broken. They "fixed" her years ago. Sure, you can still go AP Sona still, but it's gimped as hell now.
