I think it may be a marketing ploy, they say its AAA to hype up the normies and bolster sales then they release a regular budget Rayman game, since its Rayman if the graphics, engine, storytelling, etc are not top notch nobody is going to say anything, its Rayman after all, it has simple graphics, simple characters, simple story, simple all, it suits the franchise just fine.

Nowadays the character has had a whole DLC in the Mario xcom clone that made fun of how much of a loser he is. Currently is a main character in a godawful Netflix show that also shits on him and his legacy, making him all angsty and tryhard
Ever since the remake trilogy(+1) dropped, Crash Bandicoot has been handled terribly. Between a new entry that failed expectations across the board, the trilogy's dev team being gutted and scattered to work on other projects, and a tone-deaf attempt to salvage a tech demo by slapping the Crash IP onto it (because that worked so well last time), everything surrounding Crash screams of corporate meddling. Crash as of now is a woke franchise, with many gay undertones and fetishy character designs and the franchise is worse than it was 15 years ago

Great timing, I've been playing Legends for the first time these past few weeks
Not him but as much as I would fucking die of happiness upon getting a proper Rayman game, this whole thing feels disrespectful. Ubisoft thought it had "outgrown" and was "too good for" the lame, antiquated scrimblo the loveable scrunko loved and adored by 30+ year old manchildren and created by le problematic white guy and is only crawling back to him as a desperate, last resort, shot-in-the-dark, hail mary. This is the equivalent of that friend or family member that's treated you like shit at a consistent rate for years promising that they've changed when there's not a lick of evidence that they have changed. Nothing here indicates love or a yearning to return to old roots but corporate cynicism. And I'm a proud consoomer. I'm an optimist and I tend to look for the good in anything. I'm excited for Mario Kart World and I've grown to hate the word "slop" with a violent passion. The fact that I'm saying this about Ubisoft making a new Rayman game should tell you something.

This is also how I feel, they fucked Rayman over in 2006 and now have the nerve to try to come back with a new game after shitting out Origins on every console at the time and fucking over Legends with a six-month delay and doing a Rabbids crossover with Mario instead of a Rayman crossover and the latter only happened with a fucking DLC campaign for the sequel. I don't trust them as far as I can throw them.
Play Rayman 1, then 2, then 3 and then some of the GBA games. Do not play the fangame of 1, it ruined the physics of the original as well as doing a bunch of indulgent shit that'll fuck you over if you try to go to the original game with that game's choices in mind.
