Why do you buys games on Steam that are on GamePass?

Name a single reason

IMG_6052.jpg - 1200x720, 111.07K

I'm white

Game pass has worse DRM.
I'm not paying to fucking rent games. I keep my games.

I prefer to keep all of my game time and achievements in a singular location, which is steam.

The price of the games was never the issue, it was platforms that would die or become unusable whenever the company running them saw fit. Steam is the only service that has kept my games accessible since I have started using it nearly 20 years ago. I'd rather have that library than whatever Microsoft decide to serve me up this month alongside whatever they want to take away and even if they did have a storefront I cared to use my ewaste games for windows live discs prove they can't manage that either.

You're gonna get a lot of weirdos here that are way more paranoid about ownership than your average consumer. Mostly I think it's just that platform lock-in is a way bigger deal than people acknowledge and Xbox is going to need years of consistent, high quality releases before things really start moving. Or if the economy takes a shit that might make speed up GamePass adoption.

I think I picked the best time to try game pass lol. Bought a three months subscription for $12 and the next week they shadow dropped Oblivion. E33 is also great.
I have no problem with games leaving the service after a while. I rarely play a game again after I completed it and if I really like that game, I will just buy it on steam during a sale.

Owning the game forever and being able to play it whenever.
Subscriptions are a payment model for complete retards.

I bought 20 months of game pass ultimate for $190 early last month, the logical question is - will I get more value out of game pass than just buying the games? lets see

played call of duty black ops 6, will never play it once it's year is over so just as good as buying
played some doom dark ages (its okay, not great), probably not playing once I beat it
played some sea of thieves (okay I guess not great), might play it when they add new stuff
played some dead space remake, one and done, just as good as buying
played some patrick star game, was going to get it on a super cheap sloppa sale or pirate it
played some balatro, I know its like $10 but didn't have to pirate it or anything to try it out first

and gonna play some metaphor refantazio when it hits game pass next weekend

Xbox app puts games in weird places

Games rotate in and out

Subscription that costs more than all the games I want to play on Game Pass in the end.

game paass isnt on steam

How do you even use game pass on linux?

Because I stopped subscribing to GamePass?
It's a great deal if you have a lot of free time to play tons of games, but I only 1-2 games per month at max. It'll just get more expensive than buying them

implying anyone uses linux

battle.net, though it only has a few games

Because I only play 2 or 3 AAA games a year and thanks to the steam marketplace and some old TF2 skins I have infinite steambux.

I do
Interesting

I have an IQ above 100.

Don’t have pay for cloud saves
Can easily look at the source files and mod games.
MS AAA output has been below average and the Good 3rd party leaves after a year or 2. I mostly only finished indie titles the so the price increase made it more economical to just wait for a steam sale.

I don’t want to give money to microsoft

Subscriptions are used exclusively by destitute cattle who think they are getting "good value for money".

get subscription

play the game I wanted the subscription for

still 20 days on the subscription

paradox of choice

play nothing for the next 20 days

The less games I have access to the better

cloud saves are free on xbox

Because I would end up spending more for gamepass

Sub to Game Pass for a month

Play Clair Obscur

Only a few days left on my subscription

Don't wanna pay more money

Rush through the game and don't do any of the side content

I should have just bought it on Steam desu.

You can play cloud games through your browser.

Staying on the hook is always a bad tactical decision.
One and done is the way to go, there will be no altering of the deal, sales are final.
There can be no rational faith in Microsoft continuing to maintain something out of the goodness of their hearts.
If you want to have some kind of security of support beyond the short term and want to use products that actually leave alpha testing before being discontinued, you need to use Linux.

I don't "think" I am getting good value for money, I am getting good value for money

I don't because I'm not an idiot, if there's a game that interests me I just go on a key shop site and buy an $8 Argentinian key for a month of GP Ultimate.

Why do you pay for predatory Jewscription "services"? Is Xbox Live not forming big enough of a hole in your pocket for you?

Use nVidia GeForce Now. It's playable in web browsers.

This is sadly true. Windows has been unusable shit for the past 5-10 years, while Linux has unironically become the best desktop OS this decade.
MacOS sadly doesn't compete since it's hardware locked.

This is your brain on copium.

gibberish

Good morning, sir. Do the needful and use linux.

GFN is limited to 1080p on Linux, señor poorfag

This is your brain on copium.

Nah, it's my brain on raw math. I bought cheap turkish xbox live keys years ago, so I got years of gamepass for like $60.

I wouldn't know. I'm not dumb enough to waste money on useless services.

I pay about $8/$9 a month for gamepass ultimate (rip the old trick and cheaper xbox live keys, my $4 a month beloved) and I think its worth it around that

you think I buy those gay games? lol keep your dog shit off of my PC, faggot

name one game that's worth playing from that trash

gfn sucks man. fucking bloatware

willingly pay small monthly fee for hundreds of games

this is somehow predatory

None of you have genuine arguments against gamepass. If you like games I have no clue why you wouldn't have it especially in the past month or so. If you want to spend ~$200 on clair obscure, doom and oblivion go ahead.

yeah but all those games suck

anon. none of those games are worth playing, and even if they were we'd find a way to pirate them.

There are easier ways to benchmark your video decoder.

Never rent anything that is not a house.

I pay $0 a month

don't even rent a house. Just get a mortgage and buy one

I don't own an XBOX or Windows PC.

name one good game from that pile of dog shit

I'm still waiting OP

Subscription models are for those who indiscriminately consume.

My friends are all MASSIVE Steam cocksuckers.
They can't take the Steam Dildo off their asses.
If I want to play with them, it has to be on Steam.
They'll even refuse the stuff I pirate.

Game pass doesn't have games I want to play.

bloatware

What? It runs in a browser.

Even renting a house is really fucking dumb if you're doing it for over a year.

if you live near a datacenter its extremely usable (it felt basically like playing on my actual PC at 4 to 10ms of latency), my main issue is that the bitrate is maxed at 75mbps, which looks good at 1080p and 1440p at 120fps, but looks MOSTLY fine at 4k 120fps but it could stand to get an increase to 100mbps or even 125mbps

I played control on goypass originally and them control went away before i beat it. I later bought it on steam just to realize Microsoft killed my save when they took the game down. The idea of gamepass became really volatile to me. I want to play games at my own pace, not on some arbitrary schedule.

Nice concession

Most people don't even have a 4K screen that's capable of over 60 hertz
It's usually 4K60 or 1440p144

Microsoft's biggest success with Xbox was normalizing the subscription grift that is Xbox Live. Now they want to normalize a second one with Game Pass.

wasting money on useless garbage means you're rich

Only a poor person thinks like this.

get a 4080 PC for $20 a month

used to be a 3080 and Nvidia will upgrade it to a 5080 next year, at no extra cost

don't spend a penny on your existing PC from 2018 since it streams GFN at 4K fine

You sound like a poor person who can't spot a good deal.

nta but arguably if you are close enough to utilize geforce now effectively, paying $20 a month (or $100 every 6 months for a longer sub discount) is worth it

one MAJOR downside is that if you weren't subbed before 2024, you only get 100 hours a month now (it costs $3 or $6 depending on the tier for 15 more hours), and even then in 2026 it'll affect everyone

You can buy another 15 hours for $5 if I remember correctly, kinda sucks but I anyway never play that much in a month.
Also to the point of , I'm a Europoor so electricity is fucking expensive thanks to the (((Ukraine war))), I've just done a little calculation. My ultraportable streams GFN while pulling 50W. An actual 4080 pc would pull 650W during gaming. If I play for 100 hours, then I actually save $18 in electricity with GFN, fucking lmao. It literally pays for itself.

with game prices increasing it's a free win. rumours already saying GTA will be $100 and you've got guys like shuhei yoshida saying "$80 games are a steal". it's only going to get worse so subs are the attractive option.

Bro your PC doesn't full blast the maximum wattage when playing videogames

It does if it's at 100% utilisation. Even if it only pulls 400W on average, the electricity savings reduce the price of GFN to a laughably low figure, if you're living in a place with high electricity costs. Obviously this doesn't apply to burgers.

Fuck off shill.

more restrictive access to the product I purchased. Unless it's a 1st party Microsoft title, even with that, there's no guarantee it'll be around. I will give MS a bone and appreciate that if you buy DLC for Forza through Game Pass and it gets delisted thanks to licenses they'll just give you a copy for free so you can still use your DLC purchases.

paying $0.50 per kWh of electricity

Do europoors really? I guess Germany shouldn't have shuttered all its nuclear plants. Oh well, at least you guys are green!

why don't you try playing some good games?

Was man sät, das wird man ernten

To be fair the EU is getting its head out of its ass concerning energy production. The new German government and France recently came to an agreement that nuclear energy counts as green energy.

“The Germans are telling us: we will be very pragmatic on the issue of nuclear power,” said a senior French diplomat involved in the talks. This meant that “all the biases against nuclear power, which still remain here and there in EU legislation, will be removed.”
