Why did Malt steal Zanza's fit?

Boron was a god in Fuga 1. He became a demi god in 2. But Vanilla was the new Boron with her ability to deal direct damage regardless of the enemy defense

she did lack AoE capability, which in regular encounters was essential to getting an S rank, in that case, slap Boron on the job, pair him with Britz and he'll be hitting all targets, aerial units included, just like the first game

It's not so much that Boron was nerfed, everyone else got buffed! The only one that got nerfed was probably Chick as took the role of the white mage in Fuga 2.

That's true, Chick went full support in 2 and lost a lot of her offensive flexibility from the first game. I liked her better as a hybrid unit, but I get why they shifted her role—Hanna basically got turned into a walking nuke so balance was needed somewhere. And yeah, most of the squad got solid buffs or reworks. Mei being able to manipulate turn order more reliably is busted in late fights. Boron’s more “situationally OP” now instead of universally broken like in Fuga 1.

Esp Sheena SP recovery which made me steam roll the game. I bought and platinumed both games within the last couple weeks, Fuga 2 was really missing fun boss characters. It was mostly chaseing 1 edgey boy across the country and killing the recolours he spawns.
Took till the last 4 chapters for the story to really kick in.

It's not a particularly hard game, its intuitive how to figure out the flow of battles, but there are some good tips if you aren't sure

bad luck increases the chance of an enemy getting hit by an ailment, ailments are extremely strong in this game, especially stun, learn to use them well, they are excellent even on bosses

don't bite off more than you can chew, if you have to choose between a dangerous and normal route, consider your HP/SP and make the choice, don't actively avoid dangerous routes, but don't blindly go for them all the time either if you don't have the resources for it

Boron with Kyle as the subgunner is an excellent combination, you'll quickly learn why Boron is the strongest

prioritize upgrading the Taranis, but don't stress too much on the intermission segments, just do what feels right after you have all the upgrades at that time

don't just sit on items, they can really help when the chips are down

Link attacks are fucking strong, if you see a dangerous route coming up, save it for those, but otherwise feel free to use them often

there isn't a single bad character, feel free to swap them out and around as often as you like

Once Britz joins, try get his affinity to rank 2 with as many kids as possible early on, it helps with a later segment

Yeah my biggest complain about Fuga 2 will always be the lack of interesting bosses. They certainly fixed that with Fuga 3 so far with the Crimson Knights and berman army

It is very interesting to me that they made sure to show how much they both hate each other while at the same time showing how much Jin goes through to care for her at the same time. I really think the devs ship them unironically, I just dont know if they will commit to it in the end game ship

They are having really cute banter with one another in the manga too of growly and humorous despite their history. I know it hurt Jin bad when his dad died by her hands but he honestly seems to not hold it against her, if anything he gets more mad at her when she wants to dwell on it and wants to die.

Always found this a strange complaint because while Fuga 2's story has issues, was Fuga 1's story really anything to write home about? Everybody feels like a cardboard cutout in the first game. The conflict with Jihl is much better.

1 Felt more like a war story, whilst 2 felt more like a shonen anime.

Also 1 had lots of fun villains, 2 only had Jihl with the final boss being a poorly done Disney Twist villain.

This has been discussed to death but it can never be stated that the Soul Canon is literally the biggest reason their story and characters suck. Because when anyone can die at any time, they cannot have a story focused game or a character focused one. Everyone has to say the most generic shit and be as safe as possible and its made even MORE retarded by the fact that in the canon ending everyone lives ANYWAY. The game should have treated the soul canon as an instant game over and forced you to reload the save data and not play the game after its used. That way they could have told the story they wanted and gave everyone depth rather than the cardboard cut outs we got.

The game devs love to make people suffer and the characters suffer. And Fuga 3 is stated to be the most miserable romp in torture porn by far compared to the other 2 games. For example in order to get the true ending they want you to play though 5 misery endings. And they introduced a suicide mechanic in the game where the kids become so depressed by the horrors before them that they kill themselves. So it does not get better but the true ending should be very upbeat and happy.

I think 1 works well as a standalone game with its grim atmosphere, child protagonists and soul cannon adding dread to boss battles and real consequences for using it
Fuga 2 (and by the looks of it, 3) go for a more tradional narrative so the soul cannon is more vestigial and means they can't really go into depth for a lot of characters, I think the soul cannon should have ultimately been dropped after Hannah's death and just kept the Managarm

100% agree, I like it as a game mechanic but completely hate its effects on the writing. It ruins almost every single character because none of them can do anything special outside of the chapter they're introduced in other than the token special kid who is exempt from the cannon. Even Malt is kinda boring as fuck because his characterization in the first game was stupidly stale. I appreciate that the second game tries to amend this by not giving you the Soul Cannon until a few chapters in, but the issue completely resumes afterwards.

The scare factor could have been the instant game over if the Soul Canon fires. Maybe even make it harder by force restarting you at the middle of the map and have to retread it. They did not think the design well or at least were so stubborn they refused to accept it was a bad mechanic

I like the idea of crippling you by removing useful party members, but this idea plus the new depression mechanic is how the Soul Cannon should have worked since the first game. I think a bigger problem of Fuga is how bloated the main cast is though. It could really be improved if it was trimmed to like five characters instead of twelve.

I remember in these threads before Fuga 1, I wanted to do a depression run. I used the soul cannon every chapter, wanting as much misery porn as possible.

Then Mei died and Malt got a generic depressed status. When I had someone cheer him up, he was sad that they had to kill enemy soldiers inside of tanks.

These games have always lacked depth. Fuga 2's misery run was at least better, since Malt was immortal until the end. Throughout the game he'd have dialogue about all of his dead friends, but he was still unable to mourn because it was generic, written for any characters. And it made his plot about Hanna feel comical because he didn't care nearly as much about anybody else.
