Let me guess, you need more?
Let me guess, you need more?
Although it's called 'Longsword' it still feels too short. I prefer a longer sword.
you need more?
yes, that's not the claymore
No, I beat every single fight in the game + dlc with just longsword
Yeah this one looks cooler and is longer.
For me, it's lance.
it's so perfect
What's the best longsword for a heroic, legendary knight? Like the Master Sword of Elden Ring.
broad sword + impaling thrust
The longsword
no balder side sword look-alike straightsword
i've been waiting for it to come back for like i think 4 games by this point. but no, i don't need more. i kind of like noble slender more but you gotta grind for that.
The special dlc quest one
Heh, nothing personal
all the western swords in the game are slightly too short. Even the two handed ones. And I'll forever be mad about the "broadsword" being a thrusting sword with a slashing moveset.
actually i need less
Sucks that they added a sword with the actual length and speed that a real sword would have with the new light greatsword weapon class but then they gave it this gay twirly faggot moveset where you spin around and do twists like you're dancing instead of fighting. It's like they satisfied my realism autism in one way with the length and speed of them and then completely spit on it in another way with the mid combat spinning.
That's like the starting sword before you get the legendary sword.
Sword of Light? Either that or Sword of Night and Flame. Leda's Sword is cool too.
the dlc does have some sexy weaponfus
Useless weapon that you'll just use because it's pretty comfy and down to earth.
Give me Claymore or Give me Death
I beat Radahn 2 with the Lizard Greatsword which just has the claymore moveset but it spits and does strike damage.
i ne
i nee
i...
guhhh
It's fuck ugly compared to the Claymore tho
why does no one like the bastard sword
based. I am a simple man. All I need is R2 spam.
Yeah it is but it's a big lizard. One of those funny weapons.
You usually have to buy it (not that money is a rarity) and it's shorter than the claymore. Also no poke R2.
Not as kino as the longsword
Not as kino as the Claymore
It's the cucked sword
makes your Longsword actually long
Mod link?
Yes
Cause that sword's a bastard
it was good in DS2 when its R2 could combo off its R1, but I think that was patched out
Think it still works since it just swaps the model/hitbox
nexusmods.com
needing swords
not simply succumbing to beasthood
I wish they put the same effort into european swords that they do with japanese ones
the katanas, odachi, and naginata have great movesets with realistic techniques
meanwhile we get made up weapons like the "broadsword", there's barely a difference between longswords and shortswords, the greatswords have terrible movesets where they're swung around like clubs, and the grossmesser is literally a falchion
Still no info about the upcoming DLC weapons/arts/spells
Let's hope there's at least ONE more throwing dagger type that doesn't suck balls like the smithscript daggers, also a bone fist equivalent for martial arts pls
make a longsword
call it a longsword
make it so it's better used one handed instead of two handed like an actual longsword
meanwhile le magical folded 1000000000 billion times katana is better
I see
Basic longsword is my favorite weapon in 1/2/3
hollowslayer is used for some fights in 3 but I still like the regular longsword 's moveset and stance
Less
Nothing will ever top the OG arming sword. When you look at it, you see an ancient friend, the likes of the dog and the campfire. That's why its the manuscript sword. Why would you draw a sword that's not an arming sword? Nobody will read what you have to say.
True, although a lot of modern day forged longwords are similar to the game rendition
Square Off is quite good. Although broadsword seems slightly better to me since the only point of the weapon is to spam weapon art.
I still can't tell if this was a finished weapon model or not.
>Still no info about the upcoming DLC weapons/arts/spells
Say what now?
not big enough to stunlock the bosses
not fast enough to take advantage of status effect
Square off is good i guess. I don't get why anybody would use any of these
Guard counter weapon with shield.
Actually I don't, I did my entire first DS2 run with the special thank you green longsword.
bro...literally where have you been that you don't know about ER being ported to the Switch 2?
They've already confirmed we're getting four new armor sets including two new classes, more weapons, more ashes and wars and more spells on top of Todd's horse armor for Torrent.
Dark Moon Greatsword
Gives you the weapon with the best Ash of War right from the start
If you missed out, a merchant right below your first grace sells the best straight sword with the square off Ash of War
This game is awesome, shame there is not more surcoats.
You need to catch these
longsword
There are 3 classes of sword that are longer, only counting straight swords
Is the shortest type of blade in the game that isn't a pocket knife
??
I love it for the double stab R2.
It's great in Demon's Souls, DaS1, 2, and 3 but it's absolute shit in Elden Ring. Listen I fucking love the longsword since it's always been reliable and versatile, but it sucks ass in Elden Ring. You need to apply 600 external buffs just to make it strong enough to take on late game enemies and actually put a dent in their health bar.
If you're using it and being successful you gotta tell me how you're doing it because that shit is disappointing in ER.
I only need the large club
Can't put Square Off on greatswords even though it originated as a greatsword skill in DS3
What the fuck?
I need more.
Works on my machine
Because it can't stab even though it has a perfect blade shape for stabbing.
Don't get me started on the lack of stab R2s on greatswords. The Knight's GS is one of the most stabby looking swords in the entire franchise and you can't stab with it unless you waste your ash slot for it.
what more do you need?
god tier
stance weapons and weapons with stance skills
weird dual wield setups
high tier
twinkling / somber weapons with fun skills
basic weapons with versatile movesets
mid tier
basic weapons with boring movesets (hammers, axes, spears, colossals)
low tier
twinkling / somber weapons with some sort of retarded projectile / AoE skill
Why does it scale with ARC?
I think they just wanted to give Str/Arc some more stuff since the Putrescent Knight's cleaver also scales with Arc for some reaon.
My last build used "both" death knight axes and it was fun. I didn't use it for too much PvP but the dual axes were really good for rushing down opponents while the greataxe was for when I was surrounded (though if I was surrounded by 3 people I'd just reposition until the opportunity presented itself)
PVP
cringe faggot shit
It's the only part of the game where weapon's attributes actually matter beyond how fast they are and how much damage they do
Absolute skill issue.
I'm sorry you feel that way, sote seamless invasions were the most fun part of elden ring
mad bcuz bad
claymore is gaymore
My first DLC invasion was this and then I just fucked around with it since nobody knew how to deal with the ash.
To be fair, Stance is on WAY more straight swords than greatswords in DS3
Why does PVP in Souls games make people seethe so much?
People dismiss it because they have a bad experience being invaded, and instead of choosing to learn how it works they just bitch about it. The multiplayer aspect of the games is part of what makes them special, and with the exception of DS2 you need to explicitly opt into it outside of specific areas.
Greatsword still have access to their original DS3 square off followups as standalone ashes, not much changed outside of being able to only use one of the two followups at a time, imo it's best that way too since it leads to less homogeneization.
for me its the godskin stitcher with a great epee model swap wearing full iron set
They had a bad experience being invaded, they thing time put into invasions could be time put into the single player, or both.
honestly I prefer the epee r2
it's shallow, laggy and 99% tryhard griefers
Leda’s Sword is pretty sick
I loved the light great swords in the DLC
I like the attack animations, but the damage is trash.
shallow
It's really not
laggy
True
99% tryhard griefers
It was significantly less before Elden Ring's multiplayer system mindbroke every invader into a school shooter
I really wish stamp was a single skill with each variation being a follow-up, it would make up for the loss of square off. Honestly, square off just isn't that good outside of PvE (where it's so good that it's almost boring).
Because From's netcode is utter garbage so it's an awful experience.
It's also filled with faggots that just google what's broken and use it so they can get easy wins.
I liked Milady and Leda's.
Rellana's really dissapointed me and I stopped using it after beating that big red bear. Weird non-powerstanced moveset, with weird scaling and it just felt like an ash stick. Maybe it's fun on a level 2948920 guy.
Square Off is really good though.
Hate how most spears only have stabbing movesets in their games. If anything they should have quite similar movesets to halberds. I'd love a staff weapon too, with something similar to unsheath for Katanas where you hold it above your head and then slam it down in a vertical arc, could maybe even have that on some of the thinner/lighter weight looking spears too. Also built in parries would be sick.
This is all I ever need, shame Elden Ring didn't have it as far as I can remember.
But seriously, it just works, drop a quality build on it and STR and DEX and I don't need anything else.
Greatspears are better spears than spears
better range
better damage
better damage means better counter damage
better poise damage
better stance damage
more varied movesets
crR1 on all greatspears is a nice slash, and I think the second hit of charged R2 on the treespear and Messmer soldier's spear is a stab and slash. Insanely fun weapon, it's a shame that it took until the DLC to have a weapon with this moveset that can be infused.
Double nobbies are better
It's a good weapon in the 175-200 range, but it's better for PvE than PVP.
Basically a fancier but slightly less efficient SON&F, plus being a stance weapon it benefits immensely from Rellana's Talisman.
Longswords have had the most OP moveset since bloodborne
rellana's is basically never better than milady in any circumstances unless you're going way beyond 200
Yes
Yeah Rellanas were disappointing after the boss fight made them look like the coolest shit ever. Still the fire weapon art on them got me past the dookie sunflower with ease. I wish the Sword of Night and Flame wasn’t op at the start and got nerfed into dirt because it was my favorite sword on looks alone and I wish instead of the lazor beam and fire wave it just had a slightly enhanced stand off.
Kirk and Ludwig's untransformed mode was just a nice bonus to the transformed mode.
I like them, but i wish they were implemented better especially for single player. I have having to turn on TT because it kills the spontaneity, plus invaders will often sever out as soon as they see im solo.
Also, invaders are ironically some of the whiniest babies (not all)
I really like whips as long as I'm not fighting poiseblobs
No blades, only brick
Dark Souls 1 had a massive twinking problem due to various reasons.
That and in later games shitters just get mad when the game counterbalances them for relying on phantoms.
That's not really true, the Heavy followup to the Ash of War's stance alone puts it in a completely different territory compared to the Milady, having access to both fire and magic damage at the same time is never a bad thing either.
The problem is that effectively, the milady, especially a frost milady, is better when it comes to smaller bosses, which are admittely more common than big ones, as for PvP the Milady also undeniably has a stronger niche but again, the heavy followup to Rellana's is not to be underestimated, it's very easy to corner people with it or force them to fall to their death in some maps.
Forgot image
I miss Farron Greatsword and also the makeshift fight clubs.
I have over 100 hours so far and I've still never pvp'd or summoned other players and never will
so you're in leyndell?
Wow, 100 hours? You're big time!
How active is Elden Ring's online these days?
Still very active on PlayStation, you'll invade with no timer 99% of the time.
Active on PC though I've heard you'll have lots of downtime relative to PlayStation.
Third playthrough. Elden Ring is the easiest of the soulsborne games. Once you've beaten DS3, Sekiro, and Bloodborne it's a breeze (if you're not wasting time with a billion irrelevant NPC sidequests)
Doesn't matter, it's worse than DS3 because 90% of the time when you invade you'll land in some flat open field, with the host 500 km away, instead of in an intricate level that makes fighting interesting
doesn't sound like you're really enjoying the game
slap bloody slash on
Your retort?
:O 100 hours??
When do you sleep?
bad experience being invaded
As if the first impression most players will likely get on trying to invade someone else for the first time isn't equally if not more so discouraging. In Elden Ring a player who's new to invading will be lucky to win their tenth invasion, and that's after 9 disheartening losses in a row where it feels like there's literally nothing you can do as the host and his two buttbuddies spam AoE ash of wars at you and then t-bag your corpse.
I did the NPCs the first playthrough. It's fun once and not after. ER has the best spectacle from any Fromsoft game of the four I've played and the most variety with classes and builds so it's still fun to do the legacy dungeons and remembrance bosses. I just don't have much time for exploring the open world. ER's open world feels very dead compared to other games because it's so static and unchanging (compared to other games where things are dynamic), so if you've seen a location once you've seen how it will be every time.
it's not about npcs
you didn't explore much of the game if you beat it within in 50 hours
I named my character Longsword Lenny for a reason.
1.01 Bloody Slash
I still miss it
you didn't explore much of the game if you beat it within in 50 hours
I went in wanting to 100% it, so I did every dungeon and catacomb and boss in Limgrave before moving on which horrendously overleveled me and also burnt me out massively. I realized then that just about everything would be copy-pasted outside of the legacy dungeons and progression relevant bosses, so after that I mostly just looked at the wiki for items that looked good for my build and their locations and breezed through most of the rest of the game.
Doesn't matter, it's worse than DS3 because 90% of the time when you invade you'll land in some flat open field, with the host 500 km away, instead of in an intricate level that makes fighting interesting
Nigga DS3 is literally only Pontiff FC and Ringed City Ganks
I realized then that just about everything would be copy-pasted outside of the legacy dungeons and progression relevant bosses
that's absolutely not true though
sorry you ruined your first playthrough
fight clubs are gay af
Yes, I need a good game.
those catacombs and caves look kind of the same but they are all handcrafted. The dlc's ones are very good
and a good chunk of them have their own gimmick like the one that has million of fake wall or the jail cave.
1.02 actually.
No one except reviewers played 1.01, and no one except ps4 users with no internet connection played 1.00.
But yeah launch Bloody Slash was stupid. I legitimately thought that it was proccing bleed every hit due to how much damage it did. Then one time it actually did proc bleed and it did like 1/4 of Volcano Godskin’s hp in one attack. It’s still honestly extremly strong, just not braindead overpowered like it used to be. It’s just regular overpowered.
Yeah the DLC mini dungeons (except the Bloodfiend cave and Dragonman Cave) are very good. The Jar Gaols would easily be one of the better areas in DaS2 or 3 if you just copy pasted it in, maybe with slightly more interesting loot. The ruined forges are also really cool. My only complaint is that finishing all 3 should’ve unlocked a 4th one somewhere that housed a boss fight. Maybe just big fancy golem with same gimmick of needing to strafe behind to weak spot to actually hurt it.
Astora greatsword
ashes of war suck because they're almost always better than any other move for your weapon
The only thing I didn't like about the DLC dungeons was how they just kept going down so you'd fight the boss depleted after the dungeon first, and then you'd just die and then refight it with all your stuff since the stake of marika was there. I just commited suicide against the 2nd death knight and that one swarm boss (enri?) for that.
Outside of that not being true, I fail to see how going back to Souls' R1 spam is better.
See this stupid thing? I love this stupid thing.
welcome to the bone zone
not really. You mean the ones that deal billion stagger damage? They are decent sure but the rest are not really better. Jump attack/fully charged heavy attack are good for stagger damage, r1 is good for small attack window
I wish the spell was even halfway as close to as useful as the axe version of it. And the axe version sucks but is still fun to use. Especially because the skeletons still show up if you get the first half second of the attack off which really fucks with aggressive invaders/enemies heads. Shit I'm the one using it and it fucks with mine.
It's mostly because PVPtroons are either mega tryhards using AOE oneshot builds they googled as another anon said, or think they're ultra badasses for defeating "gank squads" (wandered upon a group of retarded friends who are new to the game) and think "I NOT ONLY WON, BUT I'M SO MUCH BETTER FOR WINNING AT A DISADVANTAGE HAHAHA YOU SCARED OF RED MAN?" and they have to let you know this nonstop, like vegans.
Both equally gay and obnoxious for different reasons. The arena is at least somewhat respectable, everything else is "sucking unwashed dick from the back" tiers of faggotry though.
I don't think I have a favorite weapon, bros... I feel empty...
But Imagine a sword with the design of Knights Greatsword, 2handed r1 of Knigh/Banished gs, the blocking r2 of the carian sword, poking crouch, poking one handed r2, infusable
Absolutely kino...
Carian Thrusting Shield roughly fits the bill
Based and brutally accurate. The worst part is when those same invader types pretend it's some samurai duel anime moment when they jump out in a cave with a level 32 host and two clueless phantoms wearing the starting knight gear. Then they spam crouch when they win like they achieved enlightenment. Meanwhile, the arena’s sitting right there with proper duels and they act like it’s for babies because they can’t abuse terrain or ambushes. PVP should’ve had more actual matchmaking options, half of the nonsense would vanish overnight.
invading for an honorable duel
lol, lmao
didn't even need the mimic veil
holy based
wouldn't they see your name? You didn't use mimic veil
Indeed I do
youtube.com
You only see people's names if you lock onto them or take damage
My beloved
Mace+Shield is peak chad. it's really that simple.
kek, perfect execution
I would prefer to not talk about Elden Ring's ultradogshit scaling, excuse me
derails discussions of real content
haha look at webm spam of spreasheet build 500ms 1 input teleport backstabbing 12 year old ps4 little xionny chan so funny epic lulz pwned
retarded shitters
I'm allergic to ashes of war and am kind of retarded so I had blood slash slapped on rogier's rapier and the first time I used the actual L2 was against Radagon's dog, fucking butchered the poor thing
Swords can't bonk.
Ah, you were at my side all along.
My true mentor...
My guiding moonlight...
I was surprised to learn that you can buff this despite the innate holy
This one. Though, I wish Bastard Sword had an interesting moveset because it's design is the only one that can compete with pic re.
Truth Nuke
I just use Smough's hammer
Longsword + Medium Shield + Bow = Old school Zelda experience
don't forget magic items
