At least she helped me BIGLY in dealing with the Solitaire. As soon as that fight started I thought I was fucking cooked. I looked at his HP and just started laughing but she nailed him with a sniper round and even though he basically killed 2 of my companions in 1 round of combat she did alot of damage to him and then Calligos ran in with his motley crew of psychos and just ran a train on him and his harlequins. That was a great moment just because usually in CRPGs characters like Calligos are usually all bluster then you have to carry them in combat but in this game his party definitely earned their reputation that Woatan guy was an absolute psychopath and monster in combat. It was also hilarious when one of the tribal women was about to go on a long diatribe about her culture and Calligos just said "Shut up you old hag" that entire chapter was so funny you can tell that there is a sense of self awareness and Calligos was written like a player that is sick of reading NPC dialogue and sick of dealing with NPC infighting and he just wants to get down to the killing.

Alien alliances tend to be tempoorary with someone getting blammed at the end compared to the other two, but it happens.

Inquisitors tend to be able to get away with whatever till a bigger dick inquisitor who dislikes that gets involved

Some Inquisitors have permanent xenos in their retinue, some Inquisitors even make friends with xenos and respect them. This is not super unusual.

There are varying orders within the inquisition and there are basically political parties in those. Radicals for the Ordo Malleus use daemon weapons or even daemonhosts, radicals for the Ordos Xenos would ally with aliens, they do so because they argue the end justify the means. Puritans on the other hand, don't.

How the hell will this work out for future DLCs in Rogue Trader?

As the other anons said, if you were an actual, full Inquisitor with a xeno or two in tow, no one would bat an eye.
Problem is, this game is supposed to be Dark Heresy. You're not supposed to be playing a full Inquisitor, just an acolyte. Basically a deniable Inquisitorial asset. A grunt. You're an Inquisitorial detective, complete with them telling you "You're out of line, I want your badge on my desk tomorrow!" kind of shit.

So it really does not make sense for an Acolyte to be dragging around any xenos at all. Most cells are made up of, like, a really good guardsmen, a thug from the area you were recruited, a bureaucrat who got caught up in something the Inquisitor needed looking up, and a sanctioned psyker who's a bigger threat to the group than he is to the enemy.

Owlcat seems to be writing something that isn't really true to the DH experience. It could be really fun, but its not really what DH is about.

DA:O and ME was made much better by the likes of Morrigan, Lillian, Miranda, Ashley, Tali and Liara.
Now look at Andromeda and Veilguard.

Had a great Thug character in a DH game. He managed to survive the whole campaign, with several surreptitiously acquired bionic components to replace things he lost along the way. Started out playing him as a typical hard ass smuggler, who just wanted to get paid. By the end he was out to purge the cult that killed everyone he'd worked with, with extreme cruelty.
He was caught in the explosion the party set in the cult's temple, still stabbing the leader in his third heart.

The reason it's not common is that spirit stones are rare, and are usually bonded with as infants where it's a sure thing. Doing it as an adult risks failure and will both kill the dark eldar AND shatter the stone which is risky and they're the one thing Eldar are not post-scarcity in

I understand that on paper having xenos in your retinue isn't something out of ordinary for the setting, but after finishing RT I don't think such companions worked for it or were even worth the inclusion. So basically, I already expect the new ones to be at odds with you, your mission, your worldview, and everything else, which in turn makes me wonder what's even the point of their presence to begin with.

I imagine next to traits they might do smart UI things like put a star on a trait and say "This trait here synergizes well with this other trait you picked up for character x"

Then you right click on the trait and it doesn't explain what constitutes a power weapon. Now I imagine the power weapons are force swords, thunder hammers, and whatnot but the game itself isn't really telling me and usually when you right click on the text a box pops up and from that box you can be led to more boxes that thoroughly explain what they fuck they are talking about. Chorda is recruited as Dogma too. Heretic is the most udnercoocked, but it's still inetersting to go through, if you are ok with people ignoring how obviously heretic you are for a long time

From what I've read heretical is the worst run and you only get Uralon but at the very end of the game. There are still 2 more planned DLCs and I think we are going to keep getting more and more companions and eventually Heretical might be really fleshed out and other people online have been speculating that we will be able to turn more companions to heresy.

One causes her to gain "nihilist drifter" points from conversations that are supposed to give her "join a craftworld and get a real job" points
This can lead to her unexpectedly becoming a corsair in the ending slides, working closely with Marzipan, which is supposed to be the "bad end" for her.
The second fuckup causes her True Romance ending to not always trigger correctly, leading to her staying with you for a while, then leaving amicably, which is supposed to be the "just friends" ending.
Put these code fuckups together and you get the classic Yrlikek experience. I think owlcat finds it funny so they leave the bugs im

Then there's another one where she goes on long trips collecting spirit stones from fallen eldar (which is the official job for outcasts). In this version she sits with you on your deathbed.
In either case after you die she either becomes a pirate with Marazhai if he's still alive (bad end if you've been gaslighting her that it's all her fault her craftworld blew up), or she quits being an drifter and becomes a soldier for a new craftworld (good end if you've been telling her positive things instead)

The imperium is pragmatic, behind the scenes you can ally with whatever as long as they are useful. They allied with orks, tau, even chaos sometimes just to grab some advantage. The rogue trader has the litterally "do whatever the fuck you want" law, an inquisiitor has same powers just more overwatch.

because it's barely a 40k game. 98% of it is just running through derelict ship corridors shooting or slashing through zombie soldiers, instead of anything that feels uniquely attributed to Warhammer 40k. if you're lucky you'll get a Chaos Spawn boss fight, then it'll feel like 40k for approximately two minutes. the soundtrack is doing so much goddamn heavy lifting to make it feel even remotely like the setting it's meant to be.
