Which way western man?

one of them is a man, isnt it?

get help

The one on the right,

if you play weebshit youre a manifestation of soÿ anyway so crying is probably the least surprising thing you do

Popola's "it's too late to stop" speech closing out with the original village music drop is the most kino moment in video game history, change my mind
Automata was such a letdown in everything except gameplay

Why there is anime versions of Mary and Susan Test

Popola's got the sexier hair style but I prefer Devola's personality.

I was gonna disagree with you, but it's easily my most rewatched scene out of the whole series besides 9S watching 2B die by A2's hand. They nailed it in the anime too.
I guess people yelling gets to me. I guess I'm retarded. So be it, I say.

stop watching porn

Devola has sex hair, it’s the obvious choice

I dontnlike redheads.

Kill both for fucking up their mission.

That scene did nothing for me because the game gives you absolutely zero hints on what the fuck is going on with 9S and 2B or even really a reason to care about them until long after it happens
Maybe I'd like the game more on another playthrough, it's weirdly paced compared to the first game because a lot of the things that seem like should be dropped between one route and the next get dropped at the end of the last route so you don't really get that "play the game again with a new perspective that explains everything" effect like in replicant/gestalt

spoiler

All they had to do was talk to Nier. This game has the biggest "the entire story would have never happened if people didn't hide details for literally no reason" problem out of any videogame I've ever played, right next to Bravely Default. The whole story falls apart if you think about it for longer than a split second

Japanese writers love that trope of catastrophic shit happening because of a simple lack of communication.

Weren't the androids programmed to not really tell the replicants what was going on with everything?
The replicants were never supposed to become sentient anyways

Not even the most kino moment in the game.

I'm gonna go out and save my daughter while slaughtering everything in my path

Yea ok have fun lol here's everything you need to annihilate every single creature you encounter see you later

I have now found my daughter, I'm gonna execute this weird shadowy dude that stole her

WTF HOW COULD YOU, YOU'RE LITERALLY HITLER

I don't know how anyone can take this shit seriously

Left, obviously. I don't get boners anymore now that I'm at the ripe old age of 33, so I enjoy playing with things that are greasy and tactile.

I mean, sure, if you misunderstand the plot this badly and have absolutely zero understanding of the systems at play and how they work I see how it could appear like this to you

Found the weebnigger "nier automata has the deepest story ever written"

Floof > hime-cut
Hime-cut is still good, though.

Actually I'm very smart and no one has ever been able to prove otherwise, so shut the fuck up fatty.

Devola and Popola straight up would not accept an arrangement where they're not sharing the same man. They do everything together, they look out for each other. They're a package item, so better work on your cardio and drink lots of pineapple juice.

Sex hair always.

If they were programmed to not tell them, why was it suddenly ok to do that during their final showdown? If the replicants were never supposed to become sentient, how/why would they program androids to not tell them?

automata

We're talking about the first game retard

You're so dumb people have to explain insults to you

I'm pretty sure I'm wrong about that anon

Neither of those posts were talking about Automata.

The Nier series doesn't have a single good girl aside from Yonah.

I accept your concession

it's weirdly paced compared to the first game

You're right about that, the previous game was better in that aspect. But I did understand 9S's pain during that part,. 9S' loneliness and craving for just an "atcha boy" and female attention is pretty clear and 2B's "feelings are prohibited" thing that she clearly doesn't mean should be enough for a nigga to feel 9S' pain as his love interest gets gutted by the same unwashed retard who killed the baby robot earlier in the game in the same cold blooded way.
I probably explained this terribly, but it certainly doesn't give you ZERO hints. The nigga is aching for 2B to call him Nines, he's always looking for approval from his Operator, all those little things are hints.

Which one has the biggest cock?

They never fucked up. The models that did were already killed back in the first Nier.

Probably Devola, if they were to have those

I mean yeah, we know 9S wants it, but what's going on with 2B is half of the story there and it's a complete fucking mystery especially with her bizarre mood swings that don't really do a good job of tipping you towards any kind of conclusion. For most of the game I thought she was bouncing between two versions of her memory data or something because the voice direction was just so bizarre

Wait, there had already been Devola/Popola killings during the first Nier era? I still don't understand everything about these two, they should write a play about it, unless they already have

Like a lot of the androids in Nier, they aren't singular characters, they're a "model" of android and there are loads of them. The devola and popola units in the first game get fucked up by Emil but all of the other devola and popola units kind of adopt their shame and stigma for dooming humanity.

The ones in Automata are totally separate entities, they're just of the same line as them and the stigma is still present. I think there was some bit about the other androids being programmed to hate devola and popola units after the incident which I think is a bit of an asspull but it is what it is

Who cares, kill them anyway.

Her JP voice does convey her 2E-assigned coldness a lot better. But didn't you understand things better once you found her voice-log somewhere during the 9S only part? I still haven't replayed it, but it's also in the anime where he's faced with her aircraft thing as part of the gauntlet to enter the tower

Dev/Pop were manager model androids and the ones in charge of the area Nier was in had the most important job, managing the human revival system which broke down and wouldn't have worked anyway. Nier kills them in the course of the game. The Nier A Dev/Pop are surviving sister models who have survived persecution from other androids for the human revival project falling apart. In the current time no one remembers why they should hate Dev/Pop models but they still do anyway.

Noir and Weiss are two parts of a backup system meant to forcibly return all the gestalts to their replicants in case of emergency. I think one contains the code and the other contains the power or something, so when they're brought together with the sealed verses they can force the rejoining. In an ideal world, they wouldn't be needed because gestalts would just be sleeping and be woken up once the world was purified of legion and white cholorination syndrome to go into their non-sentient replicant bodies, but the whole relapse thing was happening and replicants were becoming sentient so devola and popola decided it was time for plan B.

The overseer androids were programmed to oversee the replicants as well as direct them to do the dirty work of purifying the world and fighting off the legion. Since gathering the sealed verses was part of the process for triggering the rejoining procedure, it makes perfect sense that they'd use the replicants to make it happen since that's exactly how they were programmed to approach and handle things.

You're free to not like the writing, but the events of the game make perfect sense within the world as it was established and the only reason it seems otherwise to you is that you're a lorelet.

Eat glass, illiterate westerncuck

I'm probably just kind of retarded
I had red herringed myself so hard thinking we were jumping between timelines or she was jumping between actual separate versions of herself that anything like what it actually was wasn't even remotely on my radar

What's the difference between androids and replicants? Both words mean 'robot that looks like a human'.

You're right and as overall enjoyable as the games were this point is incontrovertible. The backstory and lore don't account for it.

proposal: replay it or rewatch cutscenes or watch the anime without any of that shit in your head

The anime was a lot better than I thought it’d be. Made me miss playing the game. Might to and do that again at soon. Last time i played it I burned myself out trying to make a +10 reset switch and didn’t even bother getting the other endings as a result.

Take turn with both while the other sings Song of the Ancients

Androids are man-made humanoid robots, originally created to oversee the world while the humans (in gestalt form) are in stasis and project gestalt plays out. I believe the rest of the androids in the series are offshoots of these, developed by each other from the original idea of "protect and save humanity" they were built with.

Replicants are artificial reconstructions of human bodies made out of the gestalts' DNA by magical means. They aren't robotic, they're functional but soulless fleshy vessels. They serve double duty as the final bodies for the humans' souls (gestalts) to be returned into once the world is purified and also as lifeless soldiers to fight against the legion and eradicate white chlorination syndrome while the real humans slept. Originally they had no personality or sentience but for unknown reasons they became more and more advanced over time and developed human-level consciousness and sentience.

I haven't finished the anime but I've enjoyed it a lot more than the game so far, it was just constant "why didn't the game present it like this" moments but obviously some of that was going into it now knowing what's really going on. I think a lot of things were done a lot better though, like actually giving you A2's backstory and 2B only having the soulless cold bitch voice during times that actually justified it. It being a little clearer that there's 2-way love going on was nice too, as was the E2 reveal happening earlier in the story than in the game and being showcased much better rather than just being a tiny bit of dialogue stating it.

like actually giving you A2's backstory

That backstory is in the game already. It just isn't as blatantly obvious that it's about A2 there.

It's in the game in pure text form, tucked away in the corner and only available if you meet certain conditions and even then it's given to you after the point where it would have mattered the most to understand who the fuck she is.

The Devola/Popola being androids is just an Automata retcon, right? There was no mention of androids in the first game, just shades and replicants?

Elaborating on this, I think what they should have done is give it to you in a segment similar to the Kaine text log bit at the start of Replicant route B sometime between meeting her and seeing her kill 2B. It was so infuriating how she shows up and goes "command are the ones who betrayed you" and you're like woah I can't wait to learn about this character but then you just... don't, and what she's talking about isn't revealed until the very very end and even then it barely makes any fucking sense and how A2 ties into it isn't really brought up.

No, they were always androids. The project gestalt logs they give you before you fight them calls them androids.

In NieR "androids" are robots built by humans to supervise Project Gestalt in their absence and start the final unification of Gestalts and Replicants once a cure to White Chloronization has been found. "Replicants" are "empty" vessels, basically clones, built with low-levels of autonomy. Their only purpose was to eventually serve as hosts to human souls that were extracted from their original bodies (the Gestalts) once the threat of White Chloronization had passed. But a cure for WC never came and over the millenia, the Gestalts started turning into Shades and the Replicants started developing true sentience and all the androids could do was watch as everything was going to shit.

There was no mention of androids in the first game

You CANNOT be this illiterate!

Whichever one has the bigger penis.

Okay, where the fuck are all the other androids in the first game other than Devola and Popola?

Emil's butler is one iirc

left but floor length

I don't think he was going to listen. As Yoko mentioned the game was based on 9/11 and how someone can be so convinced they're right despite clearly being in the wrong. Nier says it himself in the final battle where he doesn't care what the original has to say anymore.

Brother One

the lack of devola popola porn makes me sick

Devola's solo is better than the duet

Every village allegedly has androids overseeing it, I'm not sure if we ever see them but Seaport presumably has androids there too. The Aerie wouldn't because the people there are actually rejoined gestalts I think

i don't really like either but left

NO ONE STOPS

How bad is the anime?

It's unironically better than the game

How far in the game is it? I can't remember now.

Episode 1 is deceptively shit. The overall package is actually really good.

Hmmm no? Taro said that he wanted to make a story where no one is right or wrong. A story where everyone is just trying to survive while having no idea about the consequences of their actions due to the environment in which they were born. The entire dialogue where Nier tells Shadowlord that he doesn't feel sympathy for him is a fanfiction created by the western localization team. In the of Jap script he says that he does symphtize with him but cannot let him live because too many pepole died because of him. Similar thing with Popola where in the original Jap version Nier is telling her to stop but she says "Do you think I have the lexury to stop?" hinting at the fact that she's a programmed android.

Nier says it himself in the final battle where he doesn't care what the original has to say anymore

I once heard this was bullshit made up in the localization, but even if it wasn't, Nier literally couldn't do anything else at that point.
Even if he didn't kill the Shadowlord, the original Yonah already sacrificed herself, and Shadowlord wasn't just gonna let him go after that.

It's after you fight the big ball boss in the desert

I thought the point of the story was that he wanted to tell a story where people are 100% convinced they're doing the right thing but are actually doing something terrible

Considering the actions of the protagonists directly result in the end of humanity (though the project was failing anyway) he succeeded

reddit spacing and snarky writing

heh. checks out. nta but project gestalt was never going to work and nier's actions were dictated by popola and devola who didn't care about anyone or anything besides fulfilling their orders. they could've told nier that he's shadowlords' replicant and that shades are technically people from the beginning but didn't because that wasn't written in their schedule

how someone can be so convinced they're right despite clearly being in the wrong.

He wasn't wrong that's the whole fucking point, did you expected that he just dropped dead because 5 minutes ago some psycho androids dropped that truth bomb?

android women molesting clone shota boys

Are those problems in both the old and new English releases of Nier?

yes. they mainly just copy pasted the Western script from the PS3 version

he says on an anime website

will we ever get a new game that isn't mobile slop?
what the fuck are SE and yoko doing? what a bunch of fucking idiots
