Amazon delivery/dad simulator with online structure building/sharing, combat with other Amazon deliverers, invisible undead ghoulies, and a batshit storyline by Kojima. It’s not everyone’s cup of team but if you give it an honest chance and get past chapter 2 when it really opens up, it’s an absolutely beautiful and flawed masterpiece

It’s pretty dialogue/cutscene heavy in the beginning but after that it’s mostly gameplay for a long time. The end cutscene is a little long but for a Kojima game that’s par the course

i'm just not paying full price, I waited for death stranding and got it on sale very cheap and had a very mixed time playing it.
On the one hand, I liked the general gameplay, but the story, exposition dumps and dialogue were hard to sit through, it was really bad at times.
The gameplay too became repetitive and boring to the point I was just completing deliveries just to check them off and never do it again since there was a trophy that needed to have most of them done to upgrade each outpost to the highest rating or whatever.
I ended up just driving the truck everywhere with like 10+ deliveries in it at once once I got all the roads built, even driving it up mountains because it was still quicker and more convenient than having to carry materials around everywhere to build ziplines.
Since that game now takes more MGS influence I wonder if we will get a demon mechanic now that the game gives you a lot of options to just kill the mules

the cutscenes are endless, the dialogues never stop
50% of my time is mashing the A button to fast forward the dialogue

It's going to be a flop unless it somehow breaks metacritic or something.
Original game didn't sell that much + direct sequel + the original being a pretty divisive game + it has barely had any marketing, they just threw a couple of trailers randomly in the last couple of years.
It's coming in a month and I haven't seen anyone talking about it.
The first two chapters are exposition heavy and mostly walking. After that, the world opens up, there’s far more combat, more options to traverse like zip lines and vehicles, and cutscenes are few and far between. Everyone either gets filtered by the first two chapters, or they push on and end up really loving it
People always make fun of the Princess Beach line but the Chiral artist/junk dealer is 10x worse from the overly long cutscene combined with the absolute worst voice acting in history

Death Stranding does have a slow start, but it really opens up once you unblock the second map. It has far more gameplay including combat.
Also, the mid and end game are leaps and bounds better than the beginning.

Nothing about the sequel looks like an improvement over the parts that I liked. Just new combat options. Otherwise the footage looks interchangeable with 1. I loved the first game but I'm honestly not that excited for this based on previews. Will still probably buy it within the first month, but I'm just apprehensive at the moment.
I am disappointed that you have to pay $10 more to get 3 days early access, because I am excited to play it when it's new and everyone is getting access. I am enjoying death stranding 1, still trying to finish. But I feel like I am missing a part of the experience coming in so late
