Arbiters aren't bad necessarily, but they cost a lot of gas and you need to go down an entire tech path for them, when you could just put all these resources into making more templars instead (which counter everything zerg has). Recall is probably underused late game though t b h since toss basically has infinite gas at that point, same with dark archon.

Zergs are starting to plague grind vs protoss and shields are obviously better at dealing with that, plus your archons become absolute monsters on 3/3. Even helps protect your buildings vs lategame cracklings, which can help more than you'd think.

That said shield upgrades are incredibly expensive and really bad early game.

Sad, sorry state. P is lacking innovators and top top tier players, while a whole host of Z players destroy them with SK being the king of that. A lot of good P players get knocked out of the tournaments at various stages because of top tier Z players. It's a meta that hasnt' been fully solved. Is it the specific players? Builds? Just inherent to the game?

They have tried mixing in new builds and units, liek Dark Archons (feedback vs. defilers and melee storm* for hydras or Mutalisks)

South is soft-blocked with minerals that you need to chew through first
North is "open" with assimilators that make gates, when both gates are open any unit can get through. When one sim is destroyed, only small/medium units can get through. When both sims are down, no units can pass through so it becomes a pseudo island map.

Best got his lots locked into SKs base after the assimilators got destroyed, didn't notice the proxy hatch at all. Had one zealot at home.

The deal is that the top left part is only accessible via the assimilator gates from each main that can be closed by destroying both assimilators, while the rest of the map is accessed from the main by mineral walls. It invites shenanigans. The shenanigans have led into late game though, so it's not always short games.

They have always used lawn chairs even in the peak 2007-2010 era. It's some kind of convention that is going on around them, some kind of tech con? I see booths for other things. This is one of the most well attended finals in a long time so it's a breath of fresh air.

Yeah, they had big sponsorships and especially broadcast TV with loads of money. ASL had trouble getting even a single sponsor this time around, and thankfully Hot6 did it part way through. I remember a lot more commercials in the past.

Sadly, SC2 kind of killed the momentum.

Snow's biggest mistake vs Soulkey was that God-awful Game #7 when he did the dumbest possible proxy cannon.

Okay I finished watching. Well-deserved victory to Soulkey, honestly, I think more players need to step up their game to deal with SK's midgame dominance.
Best was kinda tilted at moments, but some of the storms in Game 7 were pure kino. A shame it wasn't enough to help him win.

SK took a greedy 4th and Best likely didn't scout it in time to stop it. Then SK kept stopping Best's 3rd and then overwhelmed him.

The lack of patches has finally caught up with BW, a zerg player with above 60iq finally played the race and proved what everyone already knew: its a broken race that can build literally any unit and win because zerg units are literally all broken bullshit.

Eventually in another 5 years of only Zergs winning ASL the game will finally die.

SK has just been giving his best (heh) because he's in debt. Food is a big motivator it seems.

If SK wasn't here to win every ASL it would just be Hero or Queen instead. Zerg is literally the only race that can build any unit it likes in both match ups, plus has a better early AND late game to either race, is the only race where being supply blocked literally doesn't even matter, and is the only race where you can run a cheese build and still recover with ease if you bluff and just make one single round of drones instead.

There are no downsides to playing Zerg, its a broken race with terrible carried players who would get crushed if they played Terran instead.

Queen's been in a slump, and didn't even qualify last season, and Hero didn't make it to round of 8 at all. If Flash returns next season, it'll have a disruptive effect where even if he doesn't win the whole thing, he will knock people out. He might even switch to Protoss.

If Larva returns, its another wild card, and ZvZ is like coin flipping. So another coin flipper who might knock out SK.

Light Bungled vs. Best and lost, and he might have put up a better fight against SK.

Snow and SK both got seeded last season too. This seasons seeds are a little stronger - Best and Light added to the mix. They might prove strong enough to knock SK out. Someone hast o beat this fucker.

Hero not being in the round of 8 was just a showcase of the garbage formatting, if he was in then it would have been Hero vs SK finals assuming they didn't meet before then and then play the garbage ZvZ coinflip meme matchup. In fact if it wasn't for ZvZ, its very likely SK would have been ASL champion like 6 times in a row now.

Also yeah maybe I was out of line to include Queen, no Zerg player would even be in a round of 8 if they played anything other than Zerg.

No one will beat SK besides another Zerg, maybe a Protoss, not even Flash unless he swaps to Protoss or Zerg himself. SK has proved what we all had known for years: Zerg is a broken race that was just waiting for a good player since the race has the worst players in BW.

SK earned enough to pay for this year's interests on his debts

It's possible Flash may move to P simply because of the lower APM requirements, and he's also an ace P player but his Z is quite awful.

Next season they might just move to maps that are not zerg favored. I think SK is beatable, and he showed a lot of weakness today versus best who isn't even taht good.

I want to know when Light will stop sucking. He is one of the better T players but i consider him the weakest of the top tier players.

Light is like Terran's Mini at times. Sometimes he's unstoppable and unbreakable, other times he loses in the funniest ways.
