Anon Babble bros, did this game actually do well enough to merit a sequel? The campaign was mid, story was borderline retarded (and an Evangelion rehash), and co-op was completely braindead. What are your hopes for 2?
Anon Babble bros, did this game actually do well enough to merit a sequel? The campaign was mid...
This game only exists because Armored Core didn't exist, I actually can't believe they're dumb enough to piss money away on a sequel to NOTHING.
That's why they're making it a kino heavy power armor game now. Different slice of appeal.
the reason they're doing exosuits is exactly because AC6 came out and they can't possibly compete.
Anon Babble bros, did this game actually do well enough to merit a sequel?
Presumably so, given that they are making one.
What are your hopes for 2?
A coherent story. And more ammo drops when you are facing off against entire teams of outers; it was annoying to have to switch to melee to finish off the last three or so dudes.
I've always prefered power armor to mechs, so I'm happy with this outcome.
Mecha fan and Anon Babble user here.
Daemon X Machina is not really that good of a game. There's really nothing noteworthy to say positive about it other than 'Wow, cool robot.'
I don't know how well it sold but hopefully they've improved the gameplay for the sequel, all I can say is I will not be buying it at launch regardless of platform.
Haha, time to clone myself to stop myself (why does that sound like Doom Eternal?)
A lot of what they showed is revamped outermode(pilot) the difference now is that instead of body horror, it's power armored now
yay, now I dont have to chuck grenades at niggers anymore
I tried the demo and I hated it, a mecha game where mechas has no weight? no thanks
going from mechs to generic third person action game means losing all appeal. It now looks indistinguishable from vanquish and every scifi third person shooter ever made
I'd like the enemy mechs to rely less of HP bloat and dodge spam. There are better ways of making something challenging.
For example, instead of having snipers constantly run away with no direction, have them set up in areas where you have to go through choke points to get to them. It would let you keep the cat and mouse dynamic, and make chasing them down less annoying while letting the sniper still be a threat.
generic third person action game
You have a jetpack and four guns at the same time. Can you do that shit in halo?
It now looks indistinguishable from vanquish
Oh noooooo it looks exactly like one of the most wasted potential but still very very fun games of all time! this is awful, it only just looks like the exact power fantasy game that we desperately need more of! this sucks man. I was hoping for the 26th armored core game instead.
Thank God.
the cyborg body horror was such shit, considering it has absolutely no relevance in the story,
hope they keep/improve the character creator, i really like it in 1.
indistinguishable from vanquish
Vanquish is unique though. Nobody has copied it so how is that a bad thing?
halo isnt a third person shooter, the terrible, nondescript visual style is why vanquish failed, it looks like anthem too.
vanquish had cool mechanics, you're purposely misinterpreting this statement to mean the visual style was cool, vanquish looked like absolute dogshit.
I just liked the banger theme song, the gameplay, the mechs, and the skin-tight suits.
the terrible, nondescript visual style is why vanquish failed
no It fucking didn't lol it failed because it's 4 hours long.
halo isnt a third person shooter
Okay give me a third person shooter where I have a jetpack and a million guns at once. There's EDF, that's all. It's a genre of one game.
I don't know, but the sequel looks fucking sick
No hopes for 2. daemon x machina is what you'd get if you ordered armored core on wish.com. it's unfortunately not good, though i wanted it to be.
This game gave me severe motion sickness, fast movement + console tier FOV is a bad combination.
I already told you, its anthem.
Another game that is desperately, fucking begging, for a do-over? A game that's under the dictionary heading for wasted potential that everyone cried for years about wanting another chance?
Yeah, tired. We don't need that. Too similar to other games. We've got 2 whole other games, so pack it up.
It went on sale all the time on steam which probably got it enough money for a sequel. Honestly, I didn't hate the game that much, but it really was a bunch of half baked ideas thrown together.
i don't think ive ever heard anyone mention Vanquish before today.
It has Very Positive all-time reviews for some reason, which I don't get. I also think the metacritic rating of 72 is a bit generous. Probably deserves something like mid-60s
Very Positive and the like isnt how good a game is, just how much of the reviewer base enjoys it.
Then I feel this is a fault of Steam's recommend/not recommend way of rating a game. Honestly, I'm not sure I would after beating the whole thing and doing some of the post-game. Everything is just so forgetable. That's why it surprises me. Must be their first mecha game.
I like my outer looking like a torso with robot limbs. Though the asymetry triggers my ocd
anthem was actually great because it was mediocre and nobody bought it but if they made a hypothetical sequel that wasn't boring and shit it would have been great
therefore this game looks amazing
I cant handle this retarded level of cope. enjoy the flop, ill wait for a mech game.
If I was the type of person to leave a steam review mine would be positive too, that doesn't mean it's a very good game. Everything technically functions and it runs fine so I can't take points off for that, and at the time it was the only way to play Armored Core on PC natively and it was the only way to play co op armored core at all until 6 got modded.
wow, these threads keep dying, Anon Babble really doesn't care about DXM.
I thought it was fine but man the hit stun offering so much I-frames felt like such absolute bullshit. Sniper rifles and rockets might as well be relegated to just PvE weapons against the pseudo Monster Hunter style giant robots you hunt down in some other quests. The robot customization and handling were good enough, but the part where you leave the robot to walk around as a meat bag I didn't care for so just rarely ever used.
It was a very 5/10 game. Not great, but not bad. Just there.
Correct, no one does.
t. finished the entire game and did all the co op side shit
same, replayed the superbosses like a dozen times for all the mech part then used the cover art one instead.
Who are you quoting?
Anyway I'm looking forward to a cool looking game that has all the things I like in it, and you will go to hell for being gay, so heh, looks like I win.
Same, honestly. I actually dig the whole "kitbashed cyborg" aesthetic, but when one arm is a bulky tank cannon and the other’s a twig, it starts looking like a DeviantArt OC. At least let me match the limbs or embrace the chaos with full symmetry toggle or something.
It used to constantly show up in the background of dmc threads and the sort, but it's really faded over time. Didn't have staying power.
Would have done better if Marvelous didnt shart up the youtubers trying to promote it.
Was a fine mecha game.
I still haven't played the first one but I probably will in like 3 or 4 years when I finally get a switch
So Gundam.
I've only ever seen the original Gundam so maybe I'm wrong but that doesn't seem like it applies at all.
The end of no more heroes 3 had a deadpool moment where they begged the player to buy this game.
I've seen it mentioned plenty of times in the context of people hating California, for reasons that are hopefully obvious.
A lot of mecha fans have a weird stick up their ass where if the mechs aren't the slowest, geriatric brickmechs possible they start crying "but there's no weight!".
I mean that's definitely true about DXM, I wouldn't say it applies to the original Gundam or the games I've played based on it.
It now looks indistinguishable from vanquish
Man, I wish, the combat looks incredibly clunky and slow compared to Vanquish
The best part was the UI customization. I think the visuals were nice, oh and they had a great simulator test map. I wish AC had a map like that to practice on. Closest we got was AC V but it was pretty limited to one specific map.
what was the name of that one supercomplex Mecha game with its own custom controller?
i think it was by Capcom?
Steel Battalion. Game should have been for PC, probably would still be going if you could map everything to a couple joysticks and a keyboard and keep the controller as an option for enthusiasts.
I still gotta finish the game. The OST was sick.
Well I'm sure it'll still be plenty fast if they at least don't give you a swift kick in the nuts every time you try to melee.
I can't actually remember any individual songs but I do remember the OST was the least mediocre thing about it.
i love this one
youtube.com
hate that Artist appears like twice in the whole story so it barely plays at all.
This is pretty cool but probably would have been a better fit for a completely different game.
All I know about DXM is from playing that one early demo they released and man it ran like utter dogshit even by my standards, and I have tolerance for that stuff. Everything I've heard about the full game since has been negative really, which is sad because the gameplay itself was decently fun enough (outside of running poorly, but it was an early demo, that could've been fixed) and I like idea of you being just some merc in a company who gets hired to do jobs with other recurring companies hired either alongside or opposite you. The premise is so simple, how could they have fucked it up so bad?
Anyway, I'll play them both, especially if the second one gets on PC like the first one apparently did, I didn't even know that until I looked it up.
It runs fine on PC but it's still boring as fuck no matter what you play it on.
hire Kawamori
tell him to make White Glint again
also make a black version of it again
Shameless.
I am so fucking tired of shite glint
Anyone who says something like that has no clue about what they're talking about.
Suits in Gundam 79 are pretty weighty unless they're in space and literally weightless.
I mean anyone who says Gundam is weightless.
Oh yes, I agree, thank you for clarifying.
I have never seen any of the Gundam anime because I do not care for most of the mecha designs. Too humanoid.
It varies greatly depending on the series, production, and whoever was in charge of directing / animating whatever scene is in question.
So go watch them and correct yourself.
Anon Babble hates Daemon x Machina
also Anon Babble: I hate it but I'm buying it anyway because it looks good
You wanna know something more interesting?
In the past 10 years of Mecha games Daemon x Machina still places in the top 5 best Mecha games. If you disagree it because you don't actually play all the mecha slop released in Japan only and all you play is the western release shit like Bamco's Overwatch clone
People forgot that gundam is one of the oldest military mecha series and it was a success primarily because it married a typical anime superhero mecha sales pitch to a gritty war drama.
Yeah of course it looks really humanoid, it straight wouldn't have gotten the funding otherwise. It's like complaining the model t ford looks old. That's because it is old. It came out when no one else was doing much different.
Actually this game is good because I wasted a bunch of my own time playing a bunch of other complete trash alongside it
Get a grip man
Thought you would get a bad ending where the AI takes over your body if you used body modifications
Stay pure human the entire game
It turns out it didn't matter
Only fromgods make good game
This shit is so good
youtube.com
Kek, the first game was already better than AC6 auto-aim/stagger slop.
I hate that I got tricked into thinking it was Vanquish for the first few seconds
I remember unintentionally getting out of my mech in one mission and not knowing how to get back in so I uninstalled and refunded. Not like I was enjoying the gameplay that much in that 1 hour of playtime.
I hope this is better but until I see the gameplay I'm going to remain skeptical
Did you get all the rare boss drops?
What are your hopes for 2?
That it's the game I wanted the first one to be desu
From the shops in the trailer, it looks like the body horror is still there
