My 8yo (UOHHHHH) highmid GPU can play Wilds okayishly (like a console but with high fov & UW). I'm not interested in more graphics at all beyond what I can already get, not like I've cared for most AAA anyways. And many games i can still 120fps high res. Im very happy with the amount of power my GPU uses and am not interested in bloating it with modern garbage GPUs.

I have a hardly used laptop with similar specs when I used to travel alot for work, kept it very cool with fan stands and used the battery saver mechanics (60% max, no quick charge, good power outlet). Could also always just find cheap used GPUs that still will work on my mobo if it's just one part. Just waiting on a good value GPU to finally come out or wait 3-5 more years before a full build medium upgrade.
It's obviously going to take years but having one of the few chip makers being in the shadow of China is not a good place to put yourself in.
Also the competition would drive prices down which wasn't financially viable but with the ever increasing prices of chips it might be time.
It needs to happen and the whole world would benefit.

Fabs have capacities, they can't conjure the chips out of thin air. Investing in new fabs is expensive and takes a lot of time, and it's risky, there is a chance when the construction finishes but the demand dwindles, wasting huge amount of time and money.
