The Switch does actually have a built-in IR camera on the Joy-Con, but it's super limited and not really for typical camera functions. And you're right, no built-in mic on the console itself—voice chat is still done through their weird phone app instead of baked into the system like literally every other platform. Classic Nintendo being five years behind on online features.
