''Content'' you get from battlepasses in multiplayer games are just skins. You can buy base game for $70 and get free maps and weapons etc. over the course of the years. Or just buy it few months/years later for a discount price. Nintendo games are not only singleplayer one and done games(at least most of them) they are also more expensive than live service games that gets shit ton of free content over the course of years.

dont forget that the live service games that people actually care about are free too.
