Is there a reason vampire games aren't really a thing anymore?
Is there a reason vampire games aren't really a thing anymore?
cuz vampires suck
millennial slop genre
You posted this exact same thread already.
Were they ever a thing? I have only encountered one meaningful vampire game
???
VTM Bloodlines
Bloodrayne series
Legacy of Kain series
Castlevania series
Bloodnet
Vampyr
Darkwatch
Nosferatu: The Wrath of Malachi
Vampire Slayer (a mod but whatever it was pretty popular)
and of course everyone's favorite, Vampire Rain
vampired are too problematic now because if you think about it, it's extremely antisemitic
Why does she still have a reflection if she's a vampire
is there a reason you keep reposting this hideous art?
SCRAPE AND LICK
cause it's lame af unc
way to kill the thread smart guy
ai slop image
came to post this kek
How much blood would a little vampire girl need per day in captivity?
hasn't fully transformed?
Rather have ai slop than whatever is that pic related.
Modern mirrors aren't made from silver.
Zoomer prefer spooky skeletons and scary animitronics. Vampires are too inherently sexual for them; it scares them in a bad way, not in a fun way.
touche
the suspension of disbelief that blood diseases dont exist
if "Greco" is a subject she's exactly 14 or 15 years old
risky vampire blowjob!
because she's a werewolf at the very beginning of the transformation
V Rising?
The Duskbloods?
WoD explains this away by saying that the majority of modern mirrors aren't made with silver anymore.
Feels like its because vampires are often more defined by their limitations rather than their strengths when it comes to video games. Ooh you're stronger and faster than a normal human being?. Good job, most video game protagonists are that already and grow even stronger as the game goes on. Oh you can live forever? We're not going to be spending enough time with the characters long term, or the game for that matter to where that would come into play. So there goes all their advantages. Now you're stuck with their limitations. They need blood constantly. They can't stand sunlight. Oh look out there is some garlic and silver! Oh and you can't show off how monstrous you are in any public setting whatsoever or you're brutally hunted down and killed
All that limits when, where and how they can truly be a vampire. Seems that leads most developers to not even want to deal with creating a game around such a limited type of character. So we get less vampire games. Same with werewolves. They're both limited to being what they are at a specific time and place
Wrong, retard.
Because it peaked with the Legacy of Kain series Bloodrayne 1 & 2 and Vampire the Masquerade Bloodlines. Maybe Nosferatu the Wrath of Malachi if we're giving B games like that a chance. That being said there's still plenty of vampire games being made. You're just not doing your research.
Nice observation, but I feel like the particular strengths and limitations on vampires would actually make them fit in pretty well with supernatural stealth games à la Dishonoured (if anyone still made stealth games).
bloodrayne
peaked
The first game was "ok", the sequel was complete horse shit. If that was the peak then the topic is cursed.
BR2
Maybe it's rose tinted glasses but I remember having way more fun with the first game.
Second game felt like a slog to be honest.
I know about the 2D platformer and the remake/remaster it got but I wish they'd make a proper 3rd game.
Same with werewolves. They're both limited to being what they are at a specific time and place
persona 3 (and maybe 4/5 idk) has all of its story missions on full moons and the rest of the game is a social sim. the full moon limitation can be worked around
That's part of the problem. Having to sneak around doesn't really make them feel like they're playing to their supposed strengths. Its refreshing when a game comes out that lets them just tear shit up
I meant more that they can't simply transform when they want without drawing attention. It limits when they can go all out
The vampire genre has been stolen by women to live out their rape fantasy
I get what you are saying in that you can't tell certain types of stories with them, but plenty of games are set without a time/all in one night. For Vamps you can just have the game at night and not explicitly mention time passing.
If that was the peak then the topic is cursed.
It was better than this pile of shit though.
twilight kinda ruined vampires with their american high school shit
I thought it worked on water puddles too
The whole vampire genre is inherently sexual and zoomers hate sex.
what is this artstyle called?
gives me Goosebumps vibes.
but a new vampire game was just released recently (cabernet) and vtm 2 is on the horizon
I feel like vampires were at the peak of coolness around the turn of the millennium while the whole industrial music scene still existed. Nobody wants to see a vampire with broccoli hair or wearing a fucking Minecraft t-shirt.

Vampires from a literary standpoint represent the social parasite - a thing that survives by guile to sap the community it embeds itself in until it can pick people off individually, but is outmatched by the populace at large and is ultimately defeated when they band together to drive it out.
"Tearing shit up" is the exact opposite of what a vampire SHOULD be doing and already represents a million other types of beast. Why even play a vampire at that point and not like, a minotaur?
Wasnt code vein about vampires?
Also Vampire Rain was a Splinter Cell game with vampire theme lol
Duskbloods will probably be a Vampire thing.
I'm surprised FROMSOFT never made a game about Transylvanian vampires, witches, werewolves, torture chambers, vampire mansion, human abominations, etc. its the perfect setting.
Perhaps Bloodlines 2 will be so good it will start a new era of vampire kino,
R-right?
Because minotaurs can't blend back into the population
Twilight
Alucard from the Castlevania anime riding dick on screen didn't help either
Astarion from BG3 is a bit zesty too
V Rising was pretty recent
Even if.
bl2 late 2025
it's a BG3-tier success that shakes up the whole industry
2030 first couple vampire-themed games are announced
2035 they actually come out
they suck
Is there a reason vampire games aren't really a thing anymore?
they went from cool scary monsters to middle age women's fap fuel.
Maybe it's rose tinted glasses but I remember having way more fun with the first game.
Because it's objectively better, there's nothing about nostalgia involved. 2 is shit.
So play Prototype then
Vulnerable stealth playstyles *are* playing to the strengths of vampires. 'Rip and tear' vampires are a modern invention
rip and tear vampires are fun. basedboys sneaking around in the dark are fags
When was it "a thing"? It was always kinda niche, although is true that it seems like a dying genre now
Because Gen X and Millenial women are too old to be getting horny over things that go bump in the night
Because the last good one was 21 years ago and everything since has been pure shit.
She's not Lasombra
Anyone else daydream they were a vampire as a kid and imagine biting the necks of all the girls in the class and drinking their blood?
Was just about to post this.
not having a reflection is a metaphor

Oy vey!
Because WoD faggots and Anne Rice ruined them by making them about latex, homofaggotry and trenchcoats.
The actual appeal of vampires was never the "oh woe is me" attempt to make them more palatable for modern big bucks hollywood movies that require a love story and drama, it's that they were barely restrained inhuman animals mimicking the behavior of human nobles but were actually powerful supernatural savages underneath.
yeah, you've figured it out
there's a reason why they're always suspiciously wealthy, vaguely foreign, and hate Christian idolism
AI image
Why was that needed to be explained away? Learning to avoid mirrors to no get caught would make the setting more interesting. Plus when it comes to actual vidya not having to render a player reflection would actually be easier.
Games where you can play as a Minotaur?
Corruption of Champions
Lmao @ poorfags outing themselves
His zerohead fucking freaks me out
