It's very functional, you can get in a game in a minute and you rarely ever get unplayable matches
It's also baby brained easy at lower level and full of things that either help you deal with fundamentals more easily
Modern lets you mash like a gorilla, Drive Impact negates zoning/commital pokes, Drive Rush Cancels let you have the sloppiest spacing and still get a combo/mix, Drive Reversal lets you do a DP without any "difficult" motions (and also negates blockstrings)
Throw loops also have to be the easiest corner pressure in a game, so as long as you can get in, you can open up anyone

Every character that’s not a newcomer is gutted. And then most of the newcomers play like actual guilty gear characters for some reason. Wallbreaks and dumbed down characters are the main issues with it, balance is also a problem but that’s a side effect of one dimensional win or lose characters. Damage is way too high. Slayer and Goldlewis are issues. Johnny isn’t half the issue they are. Bridget and Testament got ruined for twitter clout and it literally destroyed the community for strive permanently. Xrd doesn’t have force breaks but +R does and they would be great at making the game have more substance. Danger time is bad and I don’t want it. Uni is the best on the market right now imo, but it suffers from success in that the things that make it good are also what make it unpopular. Strive is probably the one I’d play if I had to pick a modern fighter but it’s a miserable experience when I could just play +R.

Strive's DLC has been wildly underpowered overall on release. HC was absurdly, comically broken but that was largely due to tech that took months to figure out. Slayer is just about the only egregious example but he's also always just been like that. UNI 2 straight up is a real 2-3 fucking interaction game worse than Strive because at least in Strive there's a good chance you're not getting a massive combo every hit, while everything always converts in UNI coupled with its high damage. Braindead half screen pokes with no direct immediate counterplays are the norm unlike with some stupid outliers. Movement is, no matter how hard people try to shill it as an anime game, doesn't work as a true air dasher and is way more limited than even Strive or release Lumina. Mind you, I don't think the movement is designed bad in UNI 2. Meter gain is designed really well in UNI 2 but the usage of it is extremely fucking braindead again. Movement is, no matter how hard people try to shill it as an anime game, doesn't work as a true air dasher and is way more limited than even Strive or release Lumina.
I don't like that people sell UNI like an airdasher when it feels like KOF crossed with an anime game imo. I don't mind that everything converts since GRD keeps the interactions in between really interesting and situations never feel too stale since it's moment to moment. It is a pretty snowbally game I'll give you that. Especially with the damage.
Braindead half screen pokes with no direct immediate counterplays are the norm unlike with some stupid outliers.
Gonna have to disagree a little here. The buttons and pokes are big but the game is designed around it. Assault usually gets you around the bigger pokes and if the opponent is swinging out of your range, you can charge for GRD or be a bit patient and shield predictable neutral to win the cycle, which will give you chain shift which has some invulnerability when you're in Vorpal. The way you use chain shift will vary from character to character but you'll have something that can beat the pokes or are committal, or just invul through a read and blow them up for predictable play. Hell there's even a roll now in 2. It's not immediately intuitive, but when you meet the systems on its terms, you can come up with interesting solutions to a variety of situations. And what I just described is from the defenders POV, the aggressor in this situation will realise hey are feeding the defender resources and will have to adjust their gameplan accordingly. A cool mind game beyond the neutral one comes out of it from there

Dizzy is underrated, she's needs buff but she's far from unusable.
Her main issue is her pokes are dogshit and extremely commital, and she needs QOL fixes to prevent her from whiffing certain moves on hit (eg. CH cS>[5D])
Her advantages never get mentioned because people don't bother labbing her or just assume she can be played like +R/Xrd.
She has reversal safe oki, meterless 5D conversions, high fullscreen damage that can lead into wallbreak, projectile negation (hard callout against some attacks like Ramlethal sword toss), and she can force people to go for one way or another with fish or ice floor.
P fish catches backdashes, giving her long sequences in the corner
Frozen State lets you do resets that loop into themselves if you've setup ice floor (going for a tick throw, a crossup, or using 5D RC).
WOL also has the unique advantages of causing damage without giving meter back, as well as ignoring defensive values, meaning at 100 Tension it'll deal ~60% HP to anyone, big body included. So you leave them with less health, and no meter to make a come back.
She has routes that let you get WOL and still pressure opponents, like 2K>2D>22H>OTG 2S>236P (almost uncontestable 11F gap, leaves you up to +15), and I never see anyone do them.

This is the only fighting games series that I play and the only one that I could get into. I don't see much point in playing anything else because I don't think any fighting game will ever top SC for me. In the first place, I don't like unarmed combat. It just doesn't seem cool. Melee weapons are way cooler. Then there's also the fact that I like real-world history and the time period that SC is set in (my longest-played games on Steam besides SC6 are Paradox Interactive games). There's just nothing else that ticks all of those boxes.

Didn't use any, I just spent a shit ton of time in the lab + matches.
The hardest thing is understanding how her neutral works. fS is borderline useless, 5H or 2H only work as a hard callout, so you want to be focusing on 5K, 2S and 2D.
Spamming specials is also ill advised, even fullscreen, because a lot of characters can run up and get a counterhit if you do something like Chestnut or H Sword.
Also she's a little buggy, for example 5H>Frozen>214H will be KD+0, but 5H>Frozen>22H>214K>2S>214H properly applies oki (HKD +42)
5H also sometimes has to be canceled early because of spacing.
My gameplan is mostly to get into WOL and then stall for as long as possible
It doesn't matter if you start it up at 0 Tension, you will build up meter during the 10s before the activation.
So you can set it then abuse plus frames, like with Blue WA into charged 6H (1F frametrap and leaves you plus enough to go for a throw), as well as point blank Chestnut
Some characters can't deal with her zoning if you setup Ice Floor (Slayer, Leo, ABA, Anji, Sin [...]), letting you stall for wings of light without spending meter.
So you can go safe 2K>2D>WOL into meaty Spike instead, it hits meaty and makes Ice Floor only -18 on block instead of -30
If you can route into Ice Spike (2H, CH 2S, CH 2D) you can followup with ~6S and get a full combo
But you can also reset into a throw (which you can followup into 236S~6S again because of the ice floor bounce), or reset into 5D>88RC>66>2H (cross-under)>22H>66>5K>6H>236H~6S (and then either reset again, or go into a wallbreak)
You can also try to do 236S~6S>66>22H>cS, but it's difficult
